It's 2:30PM and I start to feel a distinct rumbling in my belly. Time for lunch perhaps?
A quick Yelp of the available local fare and Sanpanino quickly rises to the top. Who better to guide me to sustenance than Michael S and Sam P? These boys obviously know their sandwiches because this grilled chicken on panini is a winner!
Thankfully, they don't skimp on the condiments (who likes a dry sandwich?)

Yes. And also, YES. I'm a bit of a sandwich whore (cf, my sandwich list), but slap it on Focaccia bread and throw it on a grill press and I'll be naked by the time you can say "prosciutto." Just be sure to leave the sandwich on the nightstand.
This little spot on Hudson has got the goods. Tons of fresh ingredients to throw on the grill in any way you can possibly imagine. Prices are standard, service is good, and they deliver. I think I'm in love. Definitely time to update the sandwich list.

Solid sandwich spot. Reasonable prices, quality ingredients, what more can you ask for in a sandwich shop? Thanks Sam P for the solid recommendation! Not 5 stars but a solid 4.

Very delicious pressed toasted paninis made with fresh and top quality ingredients, it's jsut the kind of gourmet-shop-in-a-closet that makes the West Village as awesome as it is. They riff off an italian theme, but dress their sammies in haute couteur; this isn't an italian sub, but rather a prosciutoo pressata with a dainty smear of tapenade and the right sized sliver of melted mozz. Delish & ferosh!

this place is the bomb. tons of great sandwiches to choose from, and great salads also. favorites include #1 (mozzarella), #6 (prosciutto), #8 (chicken) and #10 (eggplant). every sandwich should be tried two ways: 1) un-toasted 2) toasted. it is two totally different experiences. Mozzarella is fresh and made by the owner. bread is awesome. croutons on the salad are made from the bread. can't lose.
Great lunch stop!
I got the eggplant and mozzarella with olive spread sandwich. It was excellent and the portion was more than enough (if you wanted a snack or light lunch, 2 people could share 1). To drink I had the fresh lemonade, which was great too. The staff is friendly and quick. There are a few seats inside, but also some outdoor benches nearby if you want to sit outside.
Sanpanino loses 1 star for something out of its control (sorry if this is unfair). Unfortunately lunch time for me is also lunch time/recess for children whose school is the next building over. They kind of just congregate in the area and aren't really badly behaved, but who can relax with a swarm of kids around?

I don't usually hang out on the westside that much, but that might just change because of this place - our friend brought us there yesterday to try the sandwiches. I had the focaccia bread with the combo toppings of turkey/ham/ fresh mozzarella/lettuce/tomatoes/red peppers/vinegar and olive oil. Pressed. So fresh, so tasty, so delicious. A full meal for $6.75.
The highlight of my day was the freshly squeezed orange juice. A large cup for $3.. and they made it on the spot because they were out of the large size. Again, made me feel so healthy just drinking it.
I wouldn't normally pay over $10 for such a simple meal in a tiny space, but it did do a pretty good job of hitting the spot. And the oddest thing is, I've never been much of a sandwich person.

This is one of my go-to places in the west village when I'm back in NYC for a visit. I always order the same thing -- a Prosciutto di Parma...but you must substitute the normal tomatoes for their sweet/marinated red peppers....so good. They press the sandwiches to perfection...you'll love it, make it happen!

Solid sandwiches. Nothing special or out of the ordinary. Just in the mood for a good Italian cold-cut sandwich, this is a great place. All the necessities, starting with great bread, fresh cold-cuts, a nice selection, and right down to reasonable prices. They did it simple and did it right. Delicious lunch place.
