My mom and I stumbled over this place when we walked into the tuxedo tailor around the corner to ask about places that do dress alterations. Normally I'd just walk by it - it's this small, side street shop off Bedford and Avenue U that doesn't seem like much. But hell, I needed my bridesmaids dress altered, so we decided to try them out.
They didn't disappoint. :)
I think the place only employs 2 or 3 people, but they know their stuff. I was pleased with the way my dress was cared for and marked for alteration (I sew myself, so I can be pretty anal about that stuff), and they're very understanding about time constraints for weddings and events and stuff. My dress was ready in a week, and it looked and fit great.
I'm definitely going back here if I need any future alterations.

Meet the Business Owner: Sonya F.
The owner, and head seamstress in charge, Sonya is a 2nd generation tailor with over 40 years of experience. Born in Russian, her love for fashion came from her father who was a master tailor. She started working at in his tailoring shop at the age of 15, where she was trained in fine European tailoring. In 1991, they moved to NY where Sonya worked as a seamstress at a high end leather good manufacturer. After her father passed away she decided to open up a tailoring shop in his honor. Sonita's tailoring shop has been opened for 5 years with many loyal and satisfied customers.
