This is the best sandwich shop for miles! I've been coming here since 1999 and the quality has always been great. It used to be called Sub Station, I think its the same owners. Anyway, the same manager has been there the entire time, he always says Hi.
The Bread is fresh and delicious, the other ingredients are always very tasty and they make it just the way you ask for it. My fav is ham and cheese or Ham, salami, pepperoni and cheese. Get it "loaded" (everything on it)! Yes, this place is more expensive than Subway but 400 times better, too. If you want a 5 dollar foot long, for goodness sake, don't come here.
I've been working in Costa Mesa for 11+ years, but this was the first time I came here for lunch.
The sandwich I had was good, fresh meat, fresh veggies and a good roll. However, the half sandwich at $6 was a bit pricey for what it was.
Weirdness about this place: it was filled with customers, and more were coming in as noon approached, but no ladies, except those behind the counter.
This is one of the best sandwich shops in the area, especially now that Roly Poly *sniff* is gone. They make plain types of sandwiches, and they're parked out in the Autoplex of all places, off the side of Bristol where the two directions have the road physically split apart. Despite some low expectations that they'll trigger, the sandwiches taste very good. There's also plenty of seating, including some outdoors.
I wish they had some more exciting options, though, and they do close somewhat early. I'm a little surprised about the review saying their sign said it's until 8, because I've never seen them open for dinner at all -- and have no idea why people who haven't tasted the food are rating restaurants.
Some friends talked me into going to Sandwich world for lunch on a Wednesday when their lunch special was a half chicken salad sandwich, chips, and a drink for about $8. The bread was outstanding, very fresh and flaky, and the sandwich was tasty.
I've been back several times since and they have been pretty good each time. Aside from the chicken salad sandwich, I recommend the super special which has generous portions of Italian cold cuts and pepperoncinis on request. I would pass on the meatball sandwich though. The meatballs were small, average tasting, and the sauce was like a bland canned tomato sauce. I think I'll stick to the cold sandwiches.
This place is pretty good. I like Submarina sandwiches a bit better, so it is how I am measuring. The sandwich was a bit short in the flavor department -- I got a ham, turkey, and cheese with everything (except pepperchinis and onions). I added avocado. The bread was good, but the sandwich was missing something -- namely unhealthy bacon. I also wished the sandwich dressing had a bit more flavor. All the ingredients were fresh, and it was a very good portion (I got a half sandwich). If I wanted a sandwich in the area, I would go back.
Decent sandwich, but for the price, I expected something a little more exciting and not something for which I could easily obtain the ingredients and make at home.
Minus all stars for closing early... Got there at 7:20, sign in the window still said open, but they had already put all of the food away and closed shop... I drove from South OC paying toll on the 73 to try this place as I was craving a good sandwich, and called around 5 to ask when they closed... Won't be back to try it. Sign on the window said they close at 8.
I'm absolutely swamped at work but I had to take a quick second to say how much I *heart* Sandwich World!!! I've been going here for years and never wrote a review for them so I thought today will be the day. I went here first on a recommendation by my boss in 2001. I'm a huge fan of hot melty sandwiches so I ordered the small grilled chicken, "All the Way" - no oil and vinegar - add mustard (please note, they have an ordering system - abide by it and you'll be rewarded with sandwich perfection). I've ordered this sandwich about 30 times now and EVERY time when I finish and look longingly down at the empty, wrinkled square of foil where I hope to find just one more bite, I say aloud: that was the best damn sandwich! And yes, I have them on speed dial!
My favorite all-time sandwich joint in OC. Pricey, but you get what you pay for. Awesome bread, and not like that crapola they bake at Subway and then stuff full of lettuce and veggies, hiding hideously small amounts of paper-thin meat. Not here - generous portions, and if you order a "whole" sandwich, you get what looks like 2 full-sized sandwiches anywhere else. This is the anti-chain, anti-Subway, and that's a good thing. I always stop in at least once when back in OC. Brak's highest recommendation, 5-stars plus.
This place makes the best sandwiches in Orange County. Everything they use is soo fresh. Endless options on what you can make here. They have a lot of other meals to that they can make for you as well. If your in the Tustin Market Place and your hungery you NEED to check this place out if you haven't been here before. YOU'LL BE HOOKED!
Best traditional sandwich in the Irvine/Newport/Costa Mesa. Soft, toasted bread, oil and vinegar dressing, and ground black pepper make a big difference. They also make a pretty good sandwich shop salad. I will also admit that I love their "Chinese" salad dressing, a sweet and savory liquid that is unlike any other asian-inspired salad dressing I've had.
I have now been there several times and the quality and consistency is great. This is the best sandwiches out there. They are a little pricey but you get what you pay for. Their bread is always fresh and hot when you get it. They have great whole wheat whole grain bread and their white bread is just as good. They have a Super Special sandwich that is like an Italian sandwich you receive at other places, but this one is fresh and great. All their ingredients taste fresh and everything is thinly sliced like delicatessens on the east coast.
Update: Their not very consistent. I am not sure if they can't keep their bread fresh or what, but we've had stale bread now on 3 back-to-back occasions.
Really good. Fresh bread and veggies. Thinly sliced meat, lots of different toppings. Lots of different kinds of sandwiches and salads. Yummy!
