Review from Dan P.

I'm pretty sparing with my 5 reviews for golf, but this course really had it all. Great pace, ridiculous views, nice staff, great course conditions. Right on the ocean, and moderately priced; as good as it gets.

Stop number one on my Spring road trip to Nor Cal to see my mom. I don't golf, but my husband is an avid golfer who was dying to check the course out. This was only an exploratory visit, so while he didn't play the course, he went to the range. We were amazed that this is a public course, it is so beautiful. The greens were well kept, the staff is very friendly and the setting is absolutely stunning. Greens fees during the week are reasonable, and the twilight rates are very tempting.
Speaking of tempting, the one thing my better half failed to mention is that this course is right next to Bacara! Mental note: MUST stay at BACARA!. Ladies, if you are a golf widow (as I am), this is the perfect Golf/Spa vacation destination. Expect to drop some serious coin at Bacara, but the location is worth it!! -

Great ocean golf course just a few minutes north of Santa Barbara.
We had a great day on the course with the exception of the afternoon winds. Check for your wind conditions before booking. A little pricey for the weekend round of golf with cart @ $165. It's a must play course if you are in the area. -

Also known as the "poor man's Pebble Beach", Sandpiper is one of the few golf courses set along the california coast that plays right down to the ocean shore. Half of the holes have breathtaking views of the pacific. The course isn't all that bad either. Greens are like pool tables, running 12-12.5 at times. The course has good length too, at over 7000 yards. The only complaint that I have is that it finishes with a par 3. The course is pricy, especially on weekends (over $100). But you can walk the course with no problem.

One of my best rounds of golf in 2009, and also one of the best values I have seen in Southern California. About half of the holes are right on the ocean, with some of them reaching a stones throw away from the sand. If you play at a steady pace, you can sneak in a few good picture opportunities. I think we got away with paying less than $100 for this course at Twilight, which I thought was a steal. The course is well maintained, but don't expect it to be Pebble Beach at these prices.

Played in the 2009 http://greenskeeper.org outing. Course layout was nice. Some very nice par 3 holes and overall a good course. Not mean, but somewhat challenging. The rough was good to me, sometimes I preferred it to the thin fairways. Fairways seemed good at places and very thin at other places. The greens threw me off. The practice greens seemed a lot faster as I was long on all of them, and short on almost every put during the actual round. The carts could definately use some GPS on them instead of searching for sprinkler heads. Some holes had trouble that you couldn't see ahead. The service was good and facilities were great. Once the fairways are back to better condition, this place will be nice.

Sweet golf course right on the coast in Goleta, 15 minutes north of Santa Barbara, not far from UCSB and Bacara. Seven holes are right on the Pacific Ocean.
