8 reviews for Sandia Resort & Casino
This place is almost too pretty to be a casino. I had a really great time, and the player's club benefits for signing up were pretty awesome. $20 slot play, $20 table matching. I left about $60 up, and everyone I encountered was pretty friendly.

+Those cute tiny water bottles! They are the perfect purse size.
Sandia Resort & Casino was the venue for night 2 of our recent high school reunion. I have done event planning for more than 15 years and Sandia staff were the most professional, on-point crew I have ever seen! They far exceeded my expectations.
The attention to detail was so appreciated and the staff regularly checked with ME to see if I needed anything. I never had to hunt anyone down!
The food was amazing! My compliments to the chef! Do NOT miss the pinon crusted chicken and green chile stew. Quite possibly the best I've ever had with a fiery bite, loads of potatoes and delicious cubes of pork.
Even the desserts were wonderful. They were sweet and moist and not your typical "hotel' food.
After our event ended (midnight) we went up to the Bien Shur lounge, overlooking the city. Beautiful views and a nice Jazz band playing.
The one short coming has to do with bars closing at 1 and no alcohol on the casino floor; however, I think that's a state decision so I'm not going to dock Sandia any points. Just know... when the bars close, the bars are closed. Not even room service will bring you a drink!
Still, if you are planning an event in the Albuquerque area, this venue should be on the top of your list!!

Wow! You've come a long way baby! I remember when this casino was in a white tent visible from I-25.… Read more »
We stayed at Sandia casino this past weekend and it was pretty nice/ I've stayed at some of the best hotels in Vegas and this was comparable. Of course, the decor was southwestern, but the room was very clean, comfy beds, mini, fridge (not filled with with crap that they will charge you for if you move it), bathroom with tile/granite & separate shower/tub. The pool was nice, one to many kids for my taste, but they do serve drinks, no cocktail waitress til later in the day :-( They have a nice outdoor grill for burgers, hot dogs.
The upstairs lounge, while beautiful with great views is not the place to go hungry. They only serve tapas which are in very minuscule portions and expensive. The downstairs lounge fills up fast so if you want a table you have to get there like at 8 pm. I did not particularly enjoy the country band that night. You can not take your drinks on the casino floor, and last call is at midnight. When you are used to Vegas rules, this really sucks!
I really enjoy this spa. It's great. I would say it's way better than Canyon Ranch, with much better prices. During the week you can get a great deal and have the whole place virtually to yourself to enjoy the tubs/steam room.
Lastly, do go to the deli off the casino floor and grab some junk food to stuff your drunk face. It hits the spot. The best indian tacos, frito pies, nachos you could ask for before you pass out.
GREAT FOOD AND GREAT VIEWS!
Eat Here! This is a great way to have a lovely delicious dinner in ABQ and then some fun at the casino after!

Casino is new and stunning. Comfortable and not too big. You can get the lay of the land and focus on the beautiful views and great food!
Admittedly, I am biased. I lived in CA where it would appear Native American Casino's are bigger and better, and comes with some kind of shopping outlet usually.
Sandia is an average/small casino with your standard casino fare--3 card poker, black jack, pai gow, some 5 card stud, keno, slot machines, roulette, etc, etc. There aren't TONS of tables here, but on the other hand it doesn't *need* TONS as the population it serves out here is only 1.8 million statewide and not 33 million like back home.
Their buffet is ok. Nothing to write home about. In fact, I would recommend *not* eating here if you can. I suspect there is better food to be had elsewhere in the area.
The landscape is pretty impressive however. The mountains are just a hop skip and a jump away.
Watch out for nasty security guards who like to yell at you for driving the wrong way in their parking lot which DOES NOT HAVE CLEARLY MARKED PATHWAYS YOU FUCKING JACK ASS!
Sandia is an ok casino. If you don't want to drive anywhere for something bigger/better i.e. Vegas, its a great place to get away from your home will still being near your home.

A recent trip to a local Native American casino reminded me of how great Sandia Casino is. I guess you could call Sandia my Native casino benchmark.
I was in town a while back for a weekend so the parents and I dropped by on a Saturday night after a quick trip up the Tram. The setting against the dramatic mountain range behind it couldn't be better. The inside was upscale and spacious with huge vaulted ceilings - think 30 - 40 feet. We ate dinner at the casino's buffet which was ok, I guess. I don't recall it being particularly memorable. This place was hopping for a Saturday night and man was it packed. Slots, card tables, blackjack, roulette, bars, live bands, cocktail servers, clinging and clanging noises. You name it, they had it.
I had to drag my parents out of here. This upscale casino is like Disneyland, but for the 50-something crowd. I was probably one of the youngest people here, but if you're looking to cut loose and ditch the 50-something parents this would be the place.

I'm a NL Holdem poker player, so I'm only reviewing the poker room.
The poker room is no-smoking, but a little smoke blows in from the surrounding area.
Another annoyance is that they frequently force you to get up from one game and move to another table of the same game even when your game is not breaking up. If you're sitting at a table with a live one then this is irritating.
With the growing popularity for Native American Casino's here in New Mexico, this one is tops on my list. While this has been an establishment for years, the muli-million dollar overhaul they did definately shows. Great gambling although the slots don't pay as well as they do in Las Vegas, great nightly entertainment, and if you pay close enough attention and go to the elevator banks and press on the "Bien Mur" button, you'll find a hidden bar, very relaxing, very quiet, and wonderful music, also if you opt to go during the summer time there is the outdoor patio which shows the striking views of the Sandia Mountain's and the city below. I have yet to stay in the rooms there but aside of that it gets 5 stars in my book.
