We stayed here for one night for our 2nd anniversary. The one night thing is actually why we decided to stay here as many places demand that you stay 2 nights during the weekend.

Overall I was pleasantly surprised by how comfy the bed and pillows were. The view was amazing, we did the full ocean view room and it was well worth it. The place is right on the sand and right next to the pier so it is within walking distance of almost everything. I didn't go for the free breakfast because the cinnamon rolls at Old West were calling me but it smelled really good as we were walking by.

One down side is that we kept finding hair in our room that wasn't mine or my husbands. In the shower, on the bed, etc. Everything else seemed really clean though so I didn't worry too much.

Some friends and i made plans to stay in pismo, and decided this was the place to reserve our hotel, because it was right by the beach.

we called early to see when we can check in, they said around 12-2...
it was a lie... we didnt check in till 430ish almost 5... other than that there was no problem.

During my trip to San Luis Obispo, I've chosen to stay in Pismo Beach's Sandcastle Inn. This oceanfront hotel was at a great spot. The surrounding was calm and nice and the best part about this place is that it only takes 5 seconds to hit the beach and walk onto the sand.

The service here was slightly above average as they provided reasonably cheap / low quality breakfast. The staff were polite and helpful.

The only bad thing about the say was the bad decor and the location of my room. I was assigned to room 250 and it was right next to the stairwell on the second floor. It can get a tad loud when people walk up the stairs. However, it wasn't a problem while I was asleep at night as the foot traffic at the stairwell wasn't a constant problem. The cool thing about room 250 is that you get to see the beach without having to pay the premium of the oceanview room. This location is 20 min away from downtown S.L.O. and 40 min away from Morro Bay.

I'd recommend this place and I would stay here again.

Sandcastle Inn is an oceanfront hotel right there by the shore magnificently standing like a castle in front of the ocean. And when one goes out of the Sandcastle door, you could conveniently really walk on the sand.

It was still light when I got there, so I promptly took a look from my room with the ocean view and saw people walking on the shore, a guy and his dog playing football, surfers surfing and more people strolling on the nearby pier.

I really have no idea whether one of the surfer was a yelper named Robin, but I'm absolutely certain that the dog have good potential as a wide receiver.

When I booked my reservation, the choice was the traditional room facing the mountain at $119 or the oceanview, which is a little bit higher at $189.

If I was paying for the hotel accommodation myself, who's just an ordinary workingman, I would have chosen the former, rather than the later and save myself $70, which would be good enough to pay for a couple of good meals, or to donate to Charity or to feed the hungry.

However, I've been on the road the past three days in Lompoc since Sunday evening and then in Pismo Beach all for company business.

Certainly, it would be to the company's great benefit if I would be well-rested, comforted by the fantastic view of the vast Pacific Ocean, watching the surfers, breathing cool fresh air and keep my mind clear, so I could work forever for the corporate master.

Likewise, if I'm here with a female company, I would still pay for the room with the ocean view, for it's a beauty to behold and ought to be shared with someone you cared...

This was one of the best hotels that we stayed at on our quest down the coast.  The bed was suprisingly comfortable for a hotel and the room was decent and clean.  No pool though, but a they do have a hot tub, free wireless internet and an above average continental breakfast.  The staff were actually quite nice and helpful as well.  And the AAA price was not too bad.

If you are in the area and need a place to stay, I can recommend this hotel.

A great location on the beach. Walking distance to downtown Pismo and Splash Cafe for the best clam chowder. The staff was very friendly and the hotel is clean.

The only downside to this place, and unfortunately it's a pretty big downside, is the noise between rooms. Almost all the rooms have internal doors adjoining other rooms. Because these doors aren't insulated, you can clearly hear your next door neighbor. The first time we stayed, we heard a very loud mother and daughter next to us who had the TV on until 4:00 a.m. Our next stay,  we had a room of kids who laughed and played until 1:30 a.m. next to us. I wouldn't complain if the sounds were muffled, like in a typical room next door, but we could hear every word these people said like they were standing in our room. When I mentioned the noise level to the front desk person, she was very apologetic and compensated us accordingly.

I suggest requesting an end room or suite, which don't have the adjoining doors, if you don't want the noise of your neighbors.

Over the course of our marriage, while we love new experiences, the Sandcastle Inn has been a constant.  The on-the-beach location, the views, the balcony's overlooking the ocean, the walking distance to the pier... what could be better?  And we like the fact that it's not down at the other end near Shelter Cove in "hotel row."  Sandcastle is much less crowded and feels beachier.

Great location!  It's close to everything and the people at the front desk are always helpful and friendly.  This is a great little vacation spot and I really like the swings (not at Sand Castle, nearby) on the beach to enjoy the sunrise or sunset.  The front desk also gave me one of the best rooms there!  As the waves were crashing and you can smell the ocean, I felt like I was sleeping on the beach (in a comfortable bed).  Although the wonderful spa/jacuzzi they have doesn't have that much privacy (people on the boardwalk can easily see the deck).  And the breakfast is pretty good considering it's complimentary for all guests.

Oh yeah...  If you're heading to Pismo and you love seafood, you have to go to CRACKED CRAB!!!!!  The best seafood...  yummmmy!
