Review from Will Y.
San Jose, CA
We had high hopes for this place with the reviews we'd read and we haven't been disappointed. Upon check-in, we were shown to our room by Cami (I think that's how you spell her name). She was very helpful in explaining all the areas around to eat, shop, etc.
After she left, my wife and I found at the end table a little cake with a note from the staff wishing us a happy anniversary. It was a really nice touch and great of them to do as a gesture. They also give you cookies every day which is just swell.
They offer a pretty substantial continental breakfast in the morning. Our room offered a microwave, coffee pot and a mini-fridge which is really quite useful. The room also has a gas powered fireplace and a flat-screen TV. They also provide you with WiFi. The rooms are slightly out-dated but the staff is really a great bonus. They are knowledgeable and extremely willing to help.
Moonstone beach is just across a 2-lane road which isn't empty but not entirely busy either and easy to cross to get to the beach. -

Such a cute, relaxing and romantic inn! There's a bunch of inns along Moonstone Beach Drive, I'm glad we found and booked this one.
We opted for the Junior King Suite, with no ocean view, but that didn't matter since we planned and went walking along the beach across the street anyways.
They have cute little touches like water, tea, coffee, movies, beach towels, beach chairs that were always available. Cookies are delivered when they clean your room and they even left me a cute little cake with a card because my boyfriend noted that we were staying there for my birthday when he reserved it.
They do have a free breakfast. Mainly sweet items like fresh waffles, pastries, cereal. The only savory item they had was hard boiled eggs. -

I loved everything about this little place, except for the price...a bit much for the hotel itself, but I admit the location is awesome. Room was clean and comfy for 2 adults and a child, and breakfast was really good considering it was meant to be continental.
Honestly, I am not a huge fan of Cambria now that I've been once. Not much to do at all and the beach was freezing in July! Kinda takes the fun out a beach visit. Plus, the downtown closes up at like 5 or 6pm. Very sleepy little retirement-like community.
But, if you want a nice place with a pretty view and an at-home feeling, do stay at the Sand Pebbles Inn. -

I would definitely recommend this inn and have to a friend who is planning a similar trip to me in the future. Our room was an ocean view, and it truly lived up to its name. We had a beautiful view and fell asleep to the sounds of the ocean a night. The boardwalk was very safe, and we were able to walk up and down it at night. We stayed one night as part of a trip up the coast from San Diego to San Fran. The inn is very convenient to Hearst Castle, and, if you are lucky, you can see the zebras out not far down the road. When we checked in, we received a coupon to use for 50% off a bottle of wine with a purchase of two entrees at Madeline's. Our dinner there was fabulous - see my review for that restaurant for more details. The inn also stocks beach towels, chairs, beach toys, DVDs and board games for anyone that should need some more entertainment or want to enjoy the beach further. It was very quiet and clean when we stayed. Can't say enough good things!

Volcano, CA
We arrived at this sweetly charming little place in need of escape from a death in the family, and we got it. Our small room was nicely decorated, with good WiFi, a coffee maker, mini-fridge and microwave. The gas log was an especially nice touch. The small bay window gave us a peak of the beach, right across the road. The staff was helpful, and the free breakfast was the best we've had anywhere in the 48 states we've visited. At $124, we considered the price to be quite reasonable. The Sea Chest restaurant is 200 feet away.

Review from Nikki M.
What a lovely hotel/bed&B place! My boyfriend and I decided to stay here while taking a short trip after reading all the good Yelp reviews. Good work again, Yelp!
I can't believe how close to the ocean this place is for the price. So close to the water and a teeny ocean view even from the cheapest room (where we stayed..ooops!) The lady working the front desk is so friendly and personally shows you to your room. Love that vibe. The room is quint and cute, not over the top. That's how Cambria should be though. The room had a refrigerator and nice size bathroom. They leave you fresh chocolate chip cookies and bedside chocolates just like they say on the website. The front desk even gives you some coupons to a few of restaurants, although we didn't use any of them.
After we had dinner and looked around Main St. a little bit, we took the front desk lady up on her offer from earlier; to check out the DVD library. How many times do you see that?! She handed us two gigantic binders full of hundreds of movies. We settled on that movie and had a nice evening.
In the morning, we made sure to wake up early enough for the "continental breakfast." I put that in quotation marks because it's soooo much better than your typical free hotel breakfast. There was a nice girl making belgian waffles (mmm mmm mmm) and they had a selection of cereal, yogurt, bagels, etc. Pretty good coffee too.
We had excellent service the second night too, and I would recommend this hotel to anyone!
Oh and free wi-fi too.Listed in: Trip to Hearst Castle

What a beautiful place! My boyfriend and I stayed here for a night since we made a trip out for Hearst's Castle. This hotel is right across the street from the gorgeous view of the beach where you can climb the rocks. The whole street is filled with other small hotels but I must say this one is one of the better looking ones based on outside appearances. There were others that looked older and cheaper so I was very happy to see this one was our hotel driving down. It's quaint and clean. It's a bit pricey during peak season but it's totally worth it. There was mints on our beds and two cookies and they were so yum! They also leave some in the lobby with other teas, coffee, water, and apple cider.
The continental breakfast was so good! Fresh made waffles with fresh fruit toppings, delish! There's also other pastries, hard boiled eggs, cereal, oj, coffee. It's just as good as breakfast at restaurants and they're not shady with the food either.
The only con I would say is that our fireplace started to have some issues towards the end of the night. A repairman came and he couldn't even fully fix it for us.
Our room had a flat screen and a dvd player which is a plus. Mini frige, microwave, and they even had make-up remover wipes and they worked awesome!
I had made reservations to have dinner at Madelines in town and the worker gave us coupons to the restaurant when we checked in. Sweet!
I'd love to come back for sure! -

I ran into this jewel by the sea quite by accident, but I'm so glad I did. The place is clean and the staff very friendly. The complimentary breakfast has freshly made waffles with blueberries, strawberries and whipped cream. Beverages include milk, orange juice, water, coffee and tea. It's right in front of the water, which has a nice trail you can jog or walk in the morning after breakfast or anytime thereafter. There's also a nice selection of dvds you can borrow at no additional cost as well as cable and free wi-fi in each room. Our room also had a nice fireplace. I did find it a bit weird that the bed posts were nailed to the walls, but aside from that this place was near perfect. I would definitely visit again.

Review from Katlin l.
This was an awesome inn to stay at, the only drawback was the lack of stuff to do in and around it.
We stayed in a junior king suite, it was very nice (we didn't have an ocean view though, we opted to get the suite without a view because it was raining and we wouldn't have been able to see the ocean anyways). We had a fireplace, a separate room (very small) with a couch and tv. Another tv and dvd player mounted so it could be watched in bed and a bathroom. The quality of everything was very nice, the bed was comfortable; but if you have no plans it can get kinda boring.
They do have dvds that you can borrow to watch but the town itself doesn't have much going on besides the Hearst Castle and a few restaurants.
They have continental breakfast in the mornings and coffee and tea out most of the day.
The staff are very friendly and helpful and it was definitely one of the nicest looking inn's on the ocean as we were driving up.
I would definitely recommend staying here, use AAA! We got our 159 dollar room for 109! -

We has a great time again at the Sand Pebbles Inn. This was our 4th time visiting and staying here. As always, the staff was awesome and pleasant. To top it off, there is always coffee and tea available in the lobby and the continental breakfast was great. Nothing better than fresh cookies in your room every day when they clean your room. Definitely recommend you stay here.

San Jose, CA
Very charming! Don't come expecting to be overwhelmed by luxury. Don't come expecting to party down til the wee hours. Do come for romance, relaxation and quiet coziness. We sprang for a king oceanfront patio and couldn't have been more pleased. Waking up with the sun and jumping off the patio to run along the water was magical. There are lots of motel style options along Moonstone Beach, but this is really one of the better choices. Also, though the bathroom wasn't super high end, it was very clean and had a huge jetted tub. Our room also had a microwave and small fridge. Waffles were the highlight of the complimentary breakfast which was otherwise just okay. I'd recommend avoiding the rooms located near the breakfast area because there are tables placed in the hallway since the room itself is so tiny. Would imagine it gets a little loud if you're a late sleeper. The staff was so friendly and genuinely helpful, they really made the trip special.

Loved it! We just spent 5 days here for our anniversary - can't say enough about it. The rooms were comfortable and cozy. The fireplaces were a nice touch. For 4 of the nights we were in the king bed room with a patio so we stared at the beach while enjoying our breakfast and during the sunsets. No place we rather be. The beach (right across the street) is full of small colorful rocks instead of sand, so enjoyable to walk and sit. For one night we moved upstairs for a full beach view (without patio), it was just as nice. There was a table with big comfy chairs that we brought our breakfast (complimentary) up to and enjoyed the view and open windows.
It almost felt like a stay-cation. We didn't want to leave the room & close area. We borrowed DVDs every night and just relaxed. They had a large selection of DVDs! The staff was fantastic. Every night we came back to the room to find 2 homemade cookies waiting for us. Just another perfect touch. We will be back for sure! (This is a family Inn.... they also own an adult's only property up the street.... in case you don't want kiddos running around or jumping) I must say all we did was call upstairs and they stopped the hop scotch game) :o) -

Wish I could give it 3.5.
We arrived late after driving South from San Fran. The hotel looks nice from the outside, there is easy parking, and the lobby is inviting. Points off, however, for the online reservation system. When we arrived, they didn't have my reservation and the lady said that I probably didn't actually confirm it and that lots of people have that problem. They should think about fixing that.
Luckily, they still had a room and honored the AAA rate. The front desk woman walked me to my room, which was nice, but I had left my companion in the car, so it was a little awkward since I was trying to get back to the car quickly and head to dinner.
Speaking of which, the front desk lady also made a reservation for dinner for us, which was nice. Only flaw was that the restaurant was a little pricey. Still, it was nice of her.
Breakfast in the morning was continental with the bonus of a fresh made waffle. Room was clean if a little small. I'd call it quaint. Heads up, though, there's no AC.
Anyway, it was a good spot to get to Hearst Castle the next day and I'd stay there again if I ever needed to be in that area again.Listed in: Day Trippin'

Absolutely great place to stay while in Cambria! It has a pseudo fireplace to keep your room warm and cozy and a fan if you want to cool down. There's a microwave and small fridge in the room. Continental breakfast is offered with a quite a spread of pastries, bagels, fruit, and waffles. Very limited breakfast seating.
The shoreline is right across the street so take advantage of it. My girlfriends and I walked along the shore at 11 p.m. and it was completely safe. Great service. Would definitely recommend this place to others!Listed in: Cambria

Review from Dish M.
Middletown, RI
This place was absolutely beautiful and absolutely the right choice. I've never splurged and bought a nice hotel room with a view before... and I'm very glad that my first 'room with a view' stay went so smoothly.
Thank you Yelp reviews... since I had to make the reservation a few days ahead from my desk at work... the reviews really helped me. And you MUST make a reservation if you're staying on the weekend. They were sold out while when we arrived.
Before heading out on our trip we packed wine, crackers, cheese, olives, and fruit... they have a fridge in the room to keep everything chilled and a microwave in case you want to heat anything up.
We relaxed and hung out in the room most of the afternoon. After a quick walk on the beach we returned to our room and watched the sunset, followed by a late 8pm dinner downtown, then back to the room to watch a DVD we borrowed from the front office for FREE. Such a great idea.
They have a flash light charging in your room if you want to take late walks... but our wine, cheese, and movie kept us occupied in the room so we never used it.
Upon arriving I did have one issue... invasion of ants in the bathroom. They were quickly sprayed and killed by the front desk everything-girl and a discount was applied to my bill.
Loved the free coffee, tea, and sparkling cider in the front office. Perfect touches, everything you could think of that you'd want was there. Chocolates on the bed by your pillow, cookies on the table, waffles for breakfast, trays to carry it all to your room.
I'm so thankful for the great service. We couldn't afford to take any time off work, so having that one perfect night was invaluable to us.
I'd recommend Sand Pebbles in to anyone looking for a lovely place to relax. Remember to make your reservations early, and bring a camera! :) -

Fremont, CA
I enjoyed staying at this hotel / B&B for the long weekend. It's a quaint place in Cambria along Moonstone Drive with the boardwalk right across the street. The views are great along the boardwalk. There are probably 30 rooms in this inn. It's got a cozy feel.
We stayed in a 2 double room - the bed was not the most comfortable because it was a little lumpy, but sufficient. Room and bathroom was clean. Fridge and microwave are in room. Breakfast was served everyday w/ fresh waffles, fruit, pastries, hard boiled eggs, and other continental items. There's a gas fireplace in each room, which we were instructed not to turn off because it's hard to re-ignite. So we left it on, but it made the room uncomfortably warm. That was our only complaint.
Front desk personnel was friendly and resourceful. You can also check out dvd's from the front desk. Overall, a good place to get away for the weekend. -

Alhambra, CA
This place is awesome! This may have to be my best hotel stay in a while (and I've stayed at much more expensive places, especially when on business)
-very friendly staff. At check in, the lady showed us right to our room. I can't remember the last time thats happened at a hotel
-complimentary drinks at the "lobby", including coffee, Martenellis, water etc
-games and DVDs to borrow
-right across the road from the beach. Partial ocean views. Beach is fairly empty (during the time I went at least)
-complimentary bfast, including waffles, fruit, cereal etc
-free WIFI
-comfortable bed
-AWESOME VALUE
-there must be many many more things, which I can't recall right now.
The only con is the walls are kind of thin. I could hear people outside at certain times of the day and night.
We do plan on returning to Cambria during Summer, and will definitely stay here again.
ps. read a review below that they have the old school TVs. This is no longer true. My room did have a flat screen (and again, they do have free internet!) -
Review from Tee J.
Menlo Park, CA
We recently stayed at the Sand Pebbles and loved the room, but were even more impressed with the service. The place is a cross between a hotel and a bed-and-breakfast. The staff couldn't have been nicer, letting us check in early, and providing information on Hearst Castle and other local activities. We were with another couple celebrating a 50th birthday, and they delivered a cake to the room while we were out at dinner. Our friends had an ocean front room with a deck (which I would highly recommend) and we watched the sun go down with a bottle of red wine. The complimentary breakfast was absolutely delicious, with hot waffles and pastries.
It is not that often that a hotel exceeds your expectations, but that was certainly the case with the Sand Pebbles. -

PROS:
It's right across the street from the beautiful ocean with a walkway.
It's quaint, clean, and has a friendly staff.
The mineral water was amazing. Just take a shower and your skin simply feels silky soft. Hair too.
The room greets you with cookies and chocolate.
They have a dvd library that is free.
AAA discount. My room was less than $100..
CONS:
Tube tvs that have the worst glare... Need to upgrade to flats!!
Synthetic filled pillows which were very uncomfortable..
This was a perfect location for us for our first day driving up the coast. We got to stop at the hearst castle, had a nice dinner in downtown cambria, and finished our night wine tasting at one of the local stores. It's a beautiful location, definitely rocommended! -

WOW!
The most comfortable beds in all of Cambria, I'm sure.
Even though I haven't tried them all.. I'm hedging my bets at the Sand Pebbles Inn.
They have home-made cookies and offer round the clock fine teas and coffee.
The people here are so warm and inviting, and with a fire place in our room and steps away from the ocean, I would come back here any chance I got.
The continental breakfast was fantastic whether you're on a diet or want to indulge.
Please come here! You won't regret it. :)
Oh and say Hi to Tano the wonderful owner. He's quite a guy if you get the chance to meet him. -
Review from Michaela S.
San Jose, CA
This was home base for a very nice couple of days I just spent down in Cambria. Overall, a nice hotel -- not business-traveler nice, but well-maintained, good size, big bathrooms, and an extremely convenient location (well, any of the places on Moonstone Beach Drive are extremely convenient as it's a short drive over to the main drag).
I asked for a partial ocean view room (full ocean view was another $40 a night and I didn't feel I needed to spend that much), and the room I got was very nice, with the "partial" ocean view visible directly from the bed (I'll post a pic). In fact, the folks at the desk said people often request my room (#214). I peeked into some of the other rooms while they were cleaning them and they definitely weren't as good -- just rooms, no ocean!
The people at the desk were very friendly. There was free breakfast in the morning (I never get up early enough to do this, so I'm not sure what they offered) and free cookies in the afternoon -- nice perks. Grab a cookie and walk to the beach!
The only problem, and obviously this wasn't their fault, but the hotel next door (Cambria Shores Inn) is currently undergoing renovations, and two of the three mornings there I was woken up by jackhammers (7:22 AM? Et tu, construction dudes?). But I suppose I'll forgive them because I was getting better wireless signal from that hotel than from Sand Pebbles Inn. (Did I mention that free Internet access is an absolute requirement for me in hotels, especially when Vacationing While Single? I looked up way more things to do and places to eat when I was already there than I ever did before setting off on the trip.)
Anyway, I booked online and there was an "Internet special" for $109/night. Not bad for an oceanfront hotel. I'd stay there again once all that construction stops!Listed in: Central Coast road trip, Cambria Vacation 2007

Los Angeles, CA
We stayed here on our way to san francisco, cuz my wife thought the lil guy couldn't take 6-7 hours of my driving. It's right across from the beach, along with about a dozen other inns of varying accomodations. Service here is very good. They recommended restaurants nearby and answered any questions you may have about the town, directions, or even how to import live monkeys(j/k).
Our room(209) was largely taken up by the two queen beds, but it was toward the front of the inn, so we had an oblique view of the ocean, but heard it quite well at night. It had a ceiling fan and a gas fireplace, which unfortunately emitted a slightly gaseous smell, which I didn't notice until I returned with breakfast the next morning. The bathroom is spacious with plenty of towels. Comfortable beds with unusual square fluffy pillows. I told my wife it's a marketing ploy to help us remember this inn. The only thing about the place is the loud plumbing. In the middle of the night, someone turned on their shower at full blast, and I almost jumped out of my bed, with cocked fists.
In the misty, cool morning I ate fresh waffles, blueberry scones, and drank decent coffee and juice while trying to read the paper in the breakfast room downstairs. I wouldn't recommend the rooms downstairs as you'll probably be waken up by the clinking and clatter of dishes, and the panting of hungry diners and impatient parents. I brought back up a platter of nice pastries and juices only to have my wife wave it aways, saying Americans eat too much sweets...I took the lil guy out to the beach and he patted nice dogs, chased the surf, play tag, and observed chubby squat squirrels used to human gawking.
We had a nice time. We ate well, slept to the sounds of the surf, walked the beach on a crisp morning, then refreshed started out for the hilly delights of frisco. -
Review from Anna L.
I wanna shrink this place down, and take it home in my pocket! Very cute and cozy inn with a nice breakfast spread, worth every bite!
Just across the street from the beach walk, fresh baked Otis Spunkmeyer cookies (I won a bet because I guessed who made the cookies), comfy beds, pseudo fire place, chocolates on the bed, flashlight or lantern for late night walks, water, tea and coffee during check in and check out time, incredibly nice staff, and great green tea latte hard candies at the desk. YUM!
I totally recommend this place! Make the reservation online for the best deal. OH, and another amusing perk is that our room had a ROOM Journal to write about your visit. Jen S. wrote a great ghost story for anyone that is going to stay in room 207 (don't worry, it wasn't real, but if you read it, let us know what you think!) -

Long Beach, CA
Stayed there in February and was very pleased with the accomodations. Got a great manager's off-season special on-line, so be sure to check those out before you book. The staff were super nice, which is very important when I travel.
I think this place had the most comfortable hotel beds I have every slept in! The sheets, pillows, comforters, mattress pad...all of it! You just sink right into it.
Other fun things: freshly baked cookies at night, and DIY waffles in the morning. There was a little journal in the room where travellers can write entries when they stay there...a very quaint touch. Found an entry written by a friend who recommended the place after she stayed there in January...we happened to get the same room!
The ocean is just a few steps away from the inn. Nice fresh air! -
Review from Robin M.
Mountain View, CA
We stayed here for two nights and were very happy with it. The staff was accommodating, helpful and friendly. Our room (210) was not large but it was comfortable, nicely furnished and pleasant. We had a comfy king bed and the bathroom was large with plenty of hot water. Our room had a partial ocean view towards the front of the building and we had a nice view of the early summer sunset to the northeast.
I think this place is family owned and its non-corporate flavor comes through in the surprising VHS collection available at the front desk, which includes such classics as Short Circuit, Election and Blue Streak. If those don't satisfy, HBO and cable are available in the rooms. We were also amused by a guest book on the table in our room which had lengthy commentary and enthusiastic notes from hotel guests past.
The continental breakfast was predictable hotel fare, but we were happy with the waffles, fresh pastries, yogurt and granola. As mentioned in a previous review, cookies are served here in the afternoon--a nice touch and tasty. Our room also had a refrigerator, coffee maker and microwave; the later was a nice addition, though we didn't ever need to use it.
The location on Moonstone Beach Drive affords easy access to the beach and the long wooden walkway the runs for quite a ways along the bluffs. Moonstone Beach Drive is very convenient to Hearst Castle or the kitsch of Cambria and this hotel is an affordable option for a few nights' stay here. Make sure to check the website for specials before making reservations.
This place does have free wireless, though the signal is pretty weak so it's not always possible to get on. -

Great location on the Moonstone Beach Drive, across the street from the trail on the bluff. We had the room with ocean view on 2nd floor. The view is great. The people are very friendly and helpful. They have free DVD rental - a great way to end the day after a moonlight stroll by the ocean. Breakfast has freshly made waffle with strawberry and blue berry - yummy!

North Hollywood, CA
Utterly charming and a fantastic location right on Moonstone Beach. Even though we did not have an "ocean front" room, we could see and hear the ocean. You can sit comfortably with a cup of coffee and listen to the surf roll in.
The beds are very comfortable, including the sheets and pillows...luxurious! Cozy room with fireplace and even a DVD library in case you want to just watch a movie.
The staff are super friendly and accommodating to our needs. Amenities like afternoon tea/coffee and freshly baked cookies are a plus. Breakfast is light fare but above average. Must try the freshly made to order waffles with whipped cream and strawberries! Hard boiled eggs, fresh fruit cup, juice, coffee, gourmet teas, danish, scones, oatmeal, cereal, granola and yogurts give you superb breakfast options! In room coffee maker with to-go cups made walking on the boardwalk in the morning divine! Also, the travel shampoos, soaps, make up remover and lotion were fabulous Donna Prentice brand. No skimping for their guests at Sand Pebbles Inn!
Make sure to hike north on the boardwalk up to San Simeon State Park. We saw incredible wildlife there, including sea otters and a school of dolphins which made our morning! The tide pools were filled with the coolest little critters, hermit crabs, sea anemones in all sorts of vibrant colors.
It was all about spending wisely for this adventure since we did not go overseas for our Anniversary like we normally would. Instead, we opted for a relaxing, memorable getaway that was not too far from Los Angeles. The price is very reasonable for all of the wonderful amenities and the location! We hope to make Cambria and the Sand Pebbles Inn a new tradition!

Carson City, NV
This is a nice motel. I had a problem with the battery cables on my car and Jerry the Handyman helped me fix it, which raises my rating from 3 to 4 stars. Very nice man. But since most people take care of that stuff before they leave, I'll leave the rating at 3.
Since this is on the beach there is no AC or ventilation in the room, You can open the window, but the ocean's breeze just blows right past you. There is a ceiling fan, but it doesn't do much. Bed was fairly comfy and the help was pleasant. The morning breakfast was varied but kind of tasteless. We tried it and opted to eat breakfast out.
Cambria is a small town and your options are limited. This motel has no internet, which didn't bother me in the least because I didn't drive all the way down US 1 to check my freaking email. This is an unplug your phone, leave your laptop in the car, and take a walk on the beach kinda place. -

I have never been to a hotel where the staff was so nice and accomodating. Thank you for the wonderful time. My friend had her 60th birthday and Anabelle surprised us with a homeade birthday cake. Now it doesn't get much better than that
The rooms were a tad small but price value terrrific and I will be back. Thank you Angela too. -

Chico, CA
Upon arrival, we were offered to upgrade our room from a queen bed/partial ocean view to a king bed/full ocean view. The front desk attendant was very helpful, letting us see both the room we booked and the upgraded room they were offering us for a slightly higher rate.
Many other reviewers already wrote about their stay and the service they received, and ours was no different. The front desk recommended several places to eat during our stay, and even gave us some coupons for these places.
The breakfast was more than a continental breakfast, offering freshly made waffles, fruit and whipped cream for toppings, hard boiled eggs with salt and pepper, several varieties of pastries, bagels, yogurts, coffee, and tea.
The staff at the Sand Pebbles Inn is superb, and our stay was phenomenal. I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Cambria! -

Awesome, awesome, awesome....we just spent 2 nights of our honeymoon in room 214 at the Sand Pebbles Inn. It was just beautiful! The scenery was gorgeous......listening to the waves crash as we were falling asleep each night: priceless. We spent our afternoons/nights taking long walks on the beach...what a way to spend part of our honeymoon! I woke up early both mornings so that I could swing down for a cup of tea or coffee to go, and walk across the street to read my book by the ocean. Listening to the waves, reading my book, and sipping my tea/coffee was such a joy. I couldn't have asked for a better few days. The staff was pleasant, easy going, and we were greeted by a delicious congratulatory chocolate cake when we checked in! What a sweet personal touch! It made our day! :)
Without a doubt - we will return, and will tell everyone we know about this special place. And what a bargain!! :) This is not to be missed!! -

Amazing stay! This hotel was top notch. You can take a stroll outside a few steps away on the ocean. Our hotel front desk staff were so sweet and walked us to our room and got us acquainted with the property. They have a gas fireplace, wonderful smelling lotions, and cookies. I loved the beds, super comfortable. We were so impressed that we extended our stay another night, and we were not disappointed.
Definitely good breakfast selection and convenient if you want to take it to your room. The drinks in the lobby were a nice touch and you get chocolates on your pillow. This hotel is a great price for the location and views. -

Fantastic hotel for the price. Not a large hotel with large hotel luxuries, but definitely friendly and oh-so-comfortable. Ocean beach across the street, all the small amenities (jetted tub & fireplace in our room), breakfast attended by a live person, and not far from Hearst Castle. What more could you ask for?

Sand Pebbles Inn FTW! Epic location, Perfect view, delicious breakast, super comfy bed and relatively soundproof room. The best! This place had the most comfortable hotel beds I have every slept on. Super friendly staff. Pet friendly!

Found a good deal on their website for memorial day weekend. The Inn is very cute and cozy -- rooms come with a fireplace (not a real wood-burning one, but it's still nice). Staff was friendly, amenities were nice and they had yummy chocolate chip cookies in the afternoon for guests. We stayed in a King Deluxe and if you peered outside the window, you could see the ocean (beach was right across the street). The Inn is located on a strip of little hotels all along the beach and is very close to downtown Cambria. Would definitely recommend!

We have stayed here twice and love the great ocean views, delicious breakfast & the small quaint setting right on Moonstone beach. The last time we stayed we had a problem making our reservation and the manager, Tano, quickly took care of it and made it right. They even had a small cake waiting for us in our room since we mentioned we were celebrating our anniversary. A few words of caution: Do NOT stay downstairs. It will sound as if elephants are in the upstairs room and parading up & down the stairs. Also as someone mentioned earlier, the plumbing is loud. I recommend closing your bathroom door at night. We did not care for the beds- a tad too soft than we are used to. And although the gas fireplace is cozy, if you try to turn it off at night the pilot light that stays lit is just as bright as the fire. Still a cute place and definitely worth checking out.

We arrived at the Sand Pebbles Inn during a huge rainstorm that was battering the California coast. As a result of this the power was out (in most of the town). But the staff provided us with a little lantern to use until they were able to restore power (which they did, that evening) and the fireplace was lit for us when we arrived. nice and cozy. we were also upgraded from a "partial view" room to room 218, which had a full and beautiful view of the ocean.
No detail was overlooked, from the super comfy bed to the cookies left for us everyday, theres even a little journal in the room for guests to share their experiences and thoughts. It was soo cozy and everyone was so nice, the room was clean and the hotel was quiet. We had coffee and breakfast in the mornings and when the rain got a bit too heavy we checked out a DVD and board game from the front desk and spent the evening inside.
I will definitely be back to stay here the next time I visit Cambria. -

Pretty good room. Good breakfast. Fireplace could be darker when turned off.
