Sanctuary Salon
2 reviews for Sanctuary Salon
I've been a customer for over 5 years! I get my hair done every 3 months or so and I tell Renee, do what ever she wants... just keep it low maintenance for me, because I am a wash and air dry girl. I hate to fuss with my hair and she gets it!
They are great at matching color tones to your skin complexion, hair cuts, make up, etc... and if you want to get funky with the colors I've seen the colors on their other customers and I though it came out pretty cool!
They are located in between Chevron gas station and First Hawaiian Bank.
Slightly pricey but well worth the money if you want to look good... and believe me they will make you look good!
The salon has such a nice, friendly atmosphere. I got my hair styled and my makeup done for an event last year. The salon owners have their own line of makeup, which is really nice quality stuff. I was so impressed with their lip gloss, I bought a tube of the lipstick shade they used on me. They have a full line of foundation, eye shadow (which is also fab), and lipstick. I plan on going back to see if I can find a red shade that suits me.
My makeup wasn't perfect (it ran on a bit), but I did learn a bit from the tips my stylist gave me about my face. She was definitely able to do some nice work I couldn't necessarily have done on my own. During my wait, I was made very comfortable with some magazines in their pretty boudoir-esque waiting area. My hair turned out equally nice, although I would have preferred trying to put the whole thing up, we had an okay compromise with a half-up down 'do.
The service was so friendly, I was okay with the $100 cost of getting my hair and makeup done because the end result was long lasting and something I couldn't have readily achieved on my own. This salon gets high marks from me because it has a nice atmosphere (I had a nice time with my stylists and the place is decorated so nicely with soft chairs). Its short of a perfect 5 because I sort of felt that given the price I paid, my makeup shouldn't have been as runny and if I really, really wanted an updo- my stylist should have given me more options about how to achieve that.
Unless I find a place with lower prices and the same quality of service, I'll probably come back here when my annual event comes around again.
One more note about this place- it may be hard to find as your driving along Kapahulu Ave. At the end of the road, you'll see a Chervon gas station- the salon is actually in the white and green wooden building next door. Just climb the wooden stairs and the salon is at the top. They do have their own free limitted parking in front, but be sure you don't park in the other tow-able parking lot for the bank next door.
