If you are a 9 or less, you will be bored stiff out here. However, this is a fantastic transition course for golfers who want to move from blindly easy flat, featureless courses to something a little more difficult.
The fairways are in great shape and provide plenty of roll. The greens are in good shape too thanks to a conscientious greenskeeping staff. The course is not terribly long, but it's a little bit tight, has a little bit of water, and is just a little more challenging than something like San Jose Muni or an executive course.
I highly recommend this for the up and coming golfers of this world.
I expected worse but I won't be returning until major upgrades are made and they put some fucking drinking water on the course.
I think this place used to be called Royal Vista, no wonder they changed the name, nothing royal about this peasant's course! I love everything in San Ramon except for this golf course. Everything was in poor condition including the driving range, practice greens, tee boxes, fairways, greens, bunkers --it all sucked. I wouldn't even play there again for practice!
I've played this course twice in the past 6 years. The first time was so-so. Course is in decent shape, but kind of a boring layout.
The second time was this past Monday. This was the single worst golfing experience I've had in my 10 years of golf. I made a tee time for 12:15 but I was told when I got there that there was a frost delay in the morning so we'd have to wait about 40 minutes. That was out of their control, so I don't hold that against them. What I do hold against them is that the same guy told me 20 minutes later they were still on track for us to tee off 40 minutes after our tee time. We were not able to get started until 1:35 (80 minutes later than scheduled), but we still decided to play. At each hole we waited for at least one group ahead of us to tee off, yet I never saw a Marshall (to speed up the game play) the entire time we played.
At 4:35 we finally finished the ninth hole and decided to try to get a rain check. We asked the employee in the pro shop for a raincheck for 9 holes and a cart, but were given flack for not trying to finish (it gets dark about 5:30 this time of year). We finally convinced him to ask the head pro and were given the "buy one get one free" coupons that get sent out in the mail. These coupons don't even include cart fees. We asked to speak to the head pro, but when the guy went in the back he told us that the head pro refused to see us. After another 5 minutes of speaking with the pro shop employee, the head pro finally came out. He was confrontational and aggressive towards us. We explained our case and after 10 minutes he went to the back room to get pre-printed 9 hole vouchers.
Here's the part that gets me, if this guy had these coupons already printed, why was he so resistant to accommodating customers.
I will go back to get my 9 holes finished, but I will never go back after that. The entire staff was a let down and the course isn't nice enough to make up for it.
I think this used to be called Royal Vista, but anyhoo it is an ok course nonetheless. I may play here about a couple times a year, my go-to for this area if you will. Good prices for afternoon golf on a quite decent course.
The course relentlessly weaves through suburban track homes, so bring some game or you will be donating your balls into people's back yards. The course itself is laid out nicely and I particularly like each individual hole, especially the short par 4 #9. Tee off with a mid iron to fairway wood for a short approach shot to an island green. I love this course just for that, it makes me feel like I'm playing the TPC @ Sawgrass. And believe you me, we do some pretty good wagering on this hole to make things even more exciting.
They run different specials during the afternoons. Under $25 to play after a certain time. This course is quite walkable, if you're so inclined. Some say golf is "a good walk, spoiled", who ever said that did not play with the right friends and/or stash a 6 pack into one's bag.

Its an affordable place, and although its not a world class golf facility, its a perfect spot to sneak an 18 pack in, and play some beer golf with your buds. I've played here for years, and it has improved greatly under the current management. The head golf pro Dave Tuttle, is very friendly, and does a great job at teaching. Great place to take newbies, and inexperienced golfers, a very laid back golf course.
This is a straight up plain muni course. It doesn't pretend to be anything that it isn't. The course is straightforward and not too tricky. For a muni the greens are relatively well kept and the course was in good condition. I didn't feel like it was challenging though, just flat and wide fairways, fairly large and flat greens. They do have nice 9th and 18th holes where the green is surrounded by water.

My best friend got married here last month, and as the maid of honor in the wedding, I was up close and personal with all the behind scene occurances. This place is extremely professional and I had no problems or complaints with the staff. The food they served was pretty tasty as well. My only gripe is that they didn't have enough bartendars during open bar so that everyone could get respectively tanked.

Well kept golf course nestled in a quaint neighborhood in San Ramon. Water plays a role in some of the holes, and makes the course challenging. The island green for the ninth hole is a nice addition. Practice facilities are well kept and in good condition. The fairways are well groomed and the tee boxes in great shape. Definitely one of the nicer courses in the Bay that is public and well priced. It is a little bit of a drive from SF, but I have to say it was well worth it. Pro shop is a bit steep (I had to buy extra balls because I hit them all in the water) but I it's a golf course pro shop, so what more could you expect. All in all I would play this course more often if it were in closer proximity.
