San Leandro, CA
I love coming up to the San Leandro Marina it is a nice big park to go out for family gathering, chilling with the brothers/ladies, or playing any type of sport you enjoy to play. As well if you are the athletic type I insist you go on the mile run which has a great scenery while you run/bike/blade/jog/etc.
Oh as well if you like to sometimes see some couples fight well once in a while you can see a fight happening with some funny reason why they disagree with each other.
The best part of the San Leandro Marina is that they have golf courses, restaurants, and hotel to just relax if need be. If you would like to come by, and waste time here I insist you come by to the park, but no need to take my word for it since I know you will enjoy yourself. -

San Leandro Maria is a great place to host a Family Reunion! And of course, we did!!!! The park provides a nice cemented area with lots of tables, and grills!! And of course room for a DJ and dance area. (Of course we had a DJ!!!)
Bring your bike, walkers, tents, kites, footballs, water balloons, towels, you name it!! Bring everything!!! You'll have fun regardless!!! -

Awesome place for your fitness desires. There's a great exercise trail overlooking the water; perfect for bicyclists, joggers, runners, walkers, rollerbladers, and just about any other sweat inducing modes of transportation you can think of.
The scenery is really beautiful.
When you come out here, be sure to bring extra layers because it gets cold! -

Love this place. Been coming here since I was a young kid with my family. Now it has a dog park where I bring my dog Charlie to let off some steam. On a really nice day, this is the perfect place to be. You can see the sunset and feel the nice breeze blowing in from the bay.
Like many others have said, it gets really crowded on the weekends so it is best to go early or park along the street and just walk in. Everyone goes here to have a good time which is what we always ended up having. -

Here's a review based upon an SUPs (stand up paddler) point of view:
Review Based upon late afternoon paddle:
-easy launch from boat ramp.
-large parking lot near ramp
-regular bathrooms -semi clean
-restaurants nearby
-enclosed bay with great downwind rides when you pass the rock walls
-10-20 mph winds with eb resulted in great ride, but no wind will result in glassy flat waters you pick the type of terrain!
-lots of other rec paddlers out in kayaks, outriggers and wave chasers. -

I find myself getting teary eyed just thinking about San Leandro Marina.
I LOVE this place for so many reasons.
1. When I was in middle school, my family would my siblings and I here for BBQs and play dates. We would find a BBQ pit under the shade, and grill up some burgers and hot dogs, and Chinese food of course.
2. When I was in high school, I spent some great times with friends here. I volunteered at the annual San Leandro Cherry Festival here for many years, and had many BBQs and water balloon fights with my friends here.
3. When I left San Leandro and came back recently, the grass was still green. The families were still enjoying themselves. The summer breeze was gorgeous, and it was a perfect place for us to pay our respects to dear friend Jean.
San Leandro Marina is a safe and wonderful place for many outdoor activities. From picnics and BBQs to running some laps to burn off that belly fat, this places offers a lot. And it's all free.
I highly recommend going early on weekends as the "good spots" get picked easily. There's never been a problem with any drunkards around either, though I can't promise the next time that drunkard may be me (lol). Just kidding!
Parking is available in various small lots scattered in front of the park. -

I used to come here with my cousins to stay active. I have not been there for a couple of years. I'm surprised it has a Yelp page. The park is huge and the last time I was there the park had well-kept grass. The children love the play structure and I am not mistaken the park has some equipment that shoots out water to keep kids cool during the summer (I could be wrong). I always see people barbecuing. You can get 11-on-11 football if you really wanted.
I did hear the park is haunted though. I went running at 1:30 am with my cousin and it got pretty eerie when we were running by the water. But I'm sure there are plenty of other reasons not to go running at that time. -

San Lorenzo, CA
Great place to run and jog. The loop is a mile long. The south-most path is 1.5 miles one way, so a good 3 miles if you go round trip.
A lot of people bring their dogs here so watch out for dog droppings on the path since a lot of people don't pick up after their dogs. There are also free disposable bags near the beginning of the mile loop but I don't see anyone taking them. There are also a lot of squirrels too but they're all pretty friendly.
There are a bunch of obstacles around the mile loop. My favorite are the pullup bars before the 0.5 mile mark, the pushups and leg raises before the 0.75 mile mark, and the bars just after the 0.75 mile mark where it's supposed to be used to walk across with your arms but I just use it for dips.
The people here are all really friendly. I try to come here at least every other day, either in the morning or at night, and I start recognizing a lot of people. I try saying hi or nod to them when I pass by and they all mostly reply back too.
This place is a great place to run since you're always running near water for both paths. It is the bay, so the wind here can get pretty strong and chilly. Coming here at sunset is also pretty nice since you can see the sun setting over San Francisco, which you can see from across the bay. You also see a lot of planes passing by since it's really close to Oakley Airport. -
Review from Jennie P.
Good place to go for a quick run! There's a 1-mile loop with exercise stations along the way (sit-ups, chin-ups, stretches, toe touching, etc.). The track marks each quarter mile.
Scenery is great! Parking is free but limited because a lot of families are here BBQing or just hanging out.. that's also a bad thing because there's always an ice cream truck parked in the lot too.
Dog friendly! -
Review from Glen G.
Great place to get outside and get some fresh air or your cardio in.
Likes:
- Mile markers on either the the 1 mile track or the linear path along the shoreline. That one has mile markets up to about 2.25 miles. But you can follow the trail all the way down to the SM Bridge if you wanted to. Once you get past 1.5 mile marker the area gets pretty empty. It's great for calibrating your nike+ stuff.
- Scenic views of the bay. The breeze during the summer heat while running here makes it nice. Just not a lot of terrain or incline to challenge you. It's fast though.
- Choco Tacos!! (damn u Peggy S. =D) Nothing like spoiling yourself with the best ice cream treat ever in a wrapper from one of the trucks that are parked around.
Dislikes:
- Can get super crowded during weekends when the weather is nice. Parking can be a problem. When that happens I usually just head over to Oyster Bay. Or park down Grant Ave. depending on what you're doing there.
- Potential to get cold and windy. Running against a 40mph headwind is not fun. On the flip side it's nice and cool during the summer months.
When the weather's nice, this is the place to be! -
Review from Peggy S.
As the sun beamed down on my face, giving me a mad burn and very chapped lips while I sat on the dock after a short canoeing experience, I could only wrap my running thoughts on one thing, and one thing only...
Choco Taco!
Aside from the ice cream truck that had some remix pumpin' with the loud bass, this marina has lots to offer! The weather was just perfect my first time here - sunshine, light breeze, a cloudless day! If you come early, parking definitely would not be an issue and the fitness track seemed pretty deserted until around 9:30 a.m.! -

I come here to get tuned up for my runs... It has a 1mile loop and a route leading out to the San Lorenzo Creek... Nice flat trail along the bay. Great place to run and put some mileage on my nikes - for you nike + runners. It can get warm during the summer, but you get that cast from the bay which can cool you off...

I remember coming here when i was younger to fly kites and play on the playground. Then buy some ice cream from the truck that stays parked there.
12 years later and not much has changed there. And i'm still flying those kites and jumpin all over that playground. The mile/three mile is great! Get all the excersize you can get with a nice view. Bathrooms are pretty messy, but we can do all that business at home.
Ice cream however has risen in price, so i stay away from there. -

This weekend was perfect weather to go for a stroll.....A long one = ) A group of my family members ranging in age from 12 to 54 and 2 dogs lol
all had a great day here. We parked 2 cars at the bridge and we all did the trail from the marina to the bridge. It was a perfect day for this. I could have asked for better weather -

BEAUTIFUL VIEWS!
super quiet place. This place holds a special place for me. Been here a few times. I do wish they would update it a bit.
Nice views of Oakland airport. Never really did anything but enjoy the view here.
Definitely wear warm clothes even though it looks warm the breeze can get to ya! -

I was naïve enough to think that a Marina located in San Leandro would be warmer than say, San Francisco. Yeah ... no.
Aside from the often (silent) anger I project onto people who allow me to get teeth shattering cold, this place is pretty nice. It's picturesque, it's peaceful and surprisingly well maintained. So much so that I do eventually go back for more paddling punishment.
I paddle outrigger here and I enjoy the boat launch ... because for 2 years I launched a boat into muddy sand and was always fearful of leeches or losing my toes. Ample parking, a public restroom that's pristine (by public Chinese toilet standards) and an assortment of water conditions for you (or your dog) to play in. -

Unlike the Power Exchange the paddling I come here to do does not involve naked lady ass.
There is lots to like about this place. The park, the trees, the exercise trail, the boat launch, the Spinnaker Yacht Club that serves $2 beers to members, the parking lot where you can apparently go to smoke "stuff" because for some reason you can afford to buy mad weed but can't pay rent to have your own damn place to smoke it, or those poor confused people that go to the bathrooms to wait for a blowjob when all they really need to do is drive across the Bay Bridge and head to the Castro where I am sure such things can be obtained much more easily and with less shame when someone comes in to just pee...for fucking reals. -

Oakland, CA
In what would seem to be almost my whole life, as far back as my teenage memories would allow me to travel, I could never and would never want to escape the impressions that this place has left with me....
An escape from what is mostly a confined city full of dealerships and cherry fields now built over by the industrial revolution. A city were men and women came home from the war and were able to purchase homes for the cost of our modern Honda.
A city where good intentions of developing restaurants and night life never and perhaps may not come to pass, has a wonderment that surpasses many in the bay. This place is the San Leandro Marina.
The city itself need not make excuses for the lack thereof because it knows it's quality. It is acquainted with the beauty that it possesses.
I've played in it's parks and sang and written poetry under it's tree's. I whispered I love you to good and wholesome women whom will always have a place in my heart.
I've yelled thru the wind at the top of my lungs and believed the stars could here me. I wept alone while in my car and closed my eyes to sleep.
I walked the course more times than I can remember with friends and family so close to me.
Barbecues and fellowship, sports and activities it was all so fun. To this day I go and visit every now-and-again. The land has not changed, perhaps the people. It's a place where many come for varied reasons.
If you've never been then come for a walk or sit or listen kiss and talk.
Above me the planes fly, guiding themselves past the edge of the water to land and come home.
Above me the planes fly, guiding themselves up beyond the fog & cloud. Destination unknown, but i've whispered good bye from time to time at the Marina. -

So, last night, while everyone was off frolicking at the Yelp Holiday Party, I was sitting here about 5,000 miles away thinking about what was the last really big get together I went to? I'm not referring to things like baseball games, or football games, or something of that nature, I'm talking big events with at least 3 people that I know. You know those kinds of events...where a lot of people show, you don't really know them, but you have a good time anyway?
Well, the LAST event I had anywhere close to that (because I'm an anti-social person and I pretty much hate everyone, I avoid pretty much every social situation if at all possible) was one of my best females friends on this planet company BBQ. Now, initially she didn't want to go, but at the last minute she felt that she should make an appearance, and she invited me to go. Now, being the good friend that I am, I wasn't about to leave her hanging. Plus when she said it was at the San Leandro Marina...a place that I spent a lot of my childhood at, I couldn't resist.
So upon thinking of that, I started to think back of all the times I spent here at the San Leandro Marina back when I was a kid. I use to really love playing on the trains that they have way at the far end. In fact, I use to defend that engine locomotive and would not let any kids inside of it with me. That was train when I was in it damn it. Anyone who tried to enter was firmly pushed out and told to go away...wasn't I a rotten child?
They have a sort of tower thing there, and I was sitting up there once, and a kid dared me to jump off. Now, at a young age I understood that if anyone called into question your manhood and dared you to do something...you did it. Besides...life is boring if you don't take chances. So I manned up, tighten my jeans, and you beat your ass I jumped off that tower into the sand. Now granted...I really hurt my ankle because I believe I was 6 at the time, so I didn't understand that to less the stress put on your legs after a jump to roll forward...I warned the respect of all the kids there...simply because I was willing to do something they were. Kids are funny...it's amazing how easily were amused.
*sigh*
A lot of memories here. I've fished here, played baseball here, played Frisbee here...I've done a lot at the San Leandro Marina. It's a wonderful place, perfect for any event really. Birthday's...BBQ's...family get togethers...perfect for any occasion really. It's a nice place, there's water all around you, the fields and parks are kept really clean and nice. There's a nice gold course you can go to...a few restaurants you can go to with the family...or you can just play some type of organized sport.
You know I think of places like this where I spent a lot of time at as a child...and it really makes me miss my childhood. The world seemed a little better then it does now. People seemed nicer. Now I pretty much hate everyone and everything.
Funny how that works.
I think when I go home in a week I'm going to go back here on the weekend and just wanderer around. Reminiscence about times past. Take in the nice sights. Maybe do that 2 mile walk...who knows. It sounds nice though. -

The views are great. The neighboring restaurants are delicious. The park is expansive. The playground equipment is fairly new. There is plenty of lawn space to lay out, play frisbee, p/u soccer, etc. The ocean breeze makes this a great kite-flying park! Excellent place to take the kids, walk the dog, throw a bbq, etc!!
The downside, the 1-mile fitness track is really shot. The pavement is so uneven and decrepit, it's not a good place to run. Such a shame because running along the bay with that breeze to keep you cool is divine! I just wish it would get repaved so I didn't have to worry about twisting my ankle!! -

I HEART this place! I love having bbqs here with the BIG family. So nice and lots of open spaces to fly kites, which we did with the little kiddos and safe enough that we didn't have to worry about them running into the streets and such. Great place, my favorite place so far to have a bbq.

This is a perfect place for a BBQ! There are a lot of BBQ pits and open grass to play football, volleyball and even kite flying! The kids can play at the park as well. There is also a bike/jogging trail along side the bay which leads to Hayward. You can also bring a boat out and launch it right there as well! There's shoreline where you can throw in a fishing line and relax as well. If that isn't enough Monarch Bay Golf is just right across the street if you want to play a round of golf or hit the driving range.
I wanted to bring my daughter out for some fresh air and to enjoy the weather. I decided to come here because I knew they had a park here and the Marina is nice! She had fun playing with all of the kids there! I enjoyed the sun!
I am definitely going to do a BBQ here sometime in the future!

A lot of activity always taking place at the Marina:
From sunrise to sunset there will be people running, walking, or bicycling the mile long workout course
In the morning, you'll see people doing Tai Chi
Once darkness hits a lot of skunks come out and so do the people that wish to participate in illegal shenanigans
People playing soccer
Kids at the playground or at the ice cream trucks near the playground (hopefully we don't need Chris Hansen out there now)
Lots of BBQ'n
A few people clam/crab/regular fish(?) fishing
All in all, not a bad place for recreational activity. Not the best place for serious runners to workout since children become obstacles on the course, but nice to go for a jog if you want to take in the Bay scenery. -
Review from Jowin C.
This is a place to go if you want to:
-work out
-cry over a break up
-watch a sunset
-observe flocks of birds and groups of squirrels
-see an old guy roller skate
-get some ice cream from ice cream trucks
-hold a bbq and water fights
-watch people play soccer
the unlimited reasons why you want to go here, but definitely to free your mind and get away from stress! -

Marina Park makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside. Its that nostalgic place that takes me back in time.
It was here where I first learned to ride a two-wheeled bike. I'll never forget my dad took me to the grassy, hilly area. He held on to me from the top and just let me go! Weeee! and I didn't fall!
We've spent oh so many family parties here... random trips just to go walk by the water... and can't forget the ice cream truck!
I remember when they had a Wild, Wild West play ground! It had a trainstop swing set with a big tall slide and these Wild Wild West buildings you would get splinters from. They've tore that down and brought some state of the art super safe blue plastic play ground. What's up with that?! hehe jk.
*sigh* thanks Marina Park for all the memories! -

San Leandro Marina has become a regular place for me, since taking up running last year. I'm here just about once a week in the evenings.
There's a one-mile trail loop with exercise equipment areas. This loop stays pretty busy with walkers and joggers.
A longer paved trail heads south from the play area along the water, and is also pretty busy with walkers, joggers, cyclists, etc. The miles are marked to about 1.5 or so and the markings end near the new-ish houses. If you continue along the path between those houses and the water, the trail goes on for another mile, where it ends at a wooden gate area (to keep vehicles out) and porta-potty if you veer out towards the bay.
From that spot, I believe it is mixed between gravel and pavement, and if you basically continue to follow alongside the water, crossing various bridges and seeing lots of birds along the way, you'll end up just in front of the on-ramp to the San Mateo Bridge (there's a porta-potty out there), which will equal about 7 miles from the start of the paved trail. How do I know this? I've done it before. In the rain. It was a particularly brutal training run.
In the spring and early summer, it is cold and WINDY. In the winter, it is not windy, just cold. Running or walking by the water is always pretty.
Other:
Parking lot bathrooms kinda dirty but usable.
Close to my house.
Pretty ghetto after dark (like, drug deals and sex in the car ghetto). Don't come here alone after dark.
Grassy areas are nice for a picnic, guitar-practicing, or frisbee-throwing on a sunny day, when it can get crowded. -

This place is fantastic and perfect to exercise.
The only problem I have with the Marina are the seagulls hovering and pooping everywhere. You can't even enjoy a proper snack without them hounding you.
And as far as the people "getting it on" at the Marina ... give it a rest. There is an Inn not too far away. -
Review from Quang T.
Perfect place for a stroll along the marina to watch the sunset reminiscing on the times I had my first teenage love.... Just kidding. I train here for my runs. I usually do a quick 10k (6.2 miles) without a lot of strain on the body. Its flat and fast. Do come when there is daylight or you will have navigate yourself back home. Free parking and you even get to watch the FedEx planes on their descent. Brings back good times. Always a regular.

My sweetie introduced me to this place. She power-walks the long trail, I exercise on the short one, which is excellent for those of us who are disabled (on wheels or cane) or who are not yet in shape.
I love seeing the planes fly over, love seeing the people with kids and pets. Dogs are kept on-leash here. If you don't have a dog with you, little chipmunks will come beg for food as you walk along.
I hear that it is not safe at night, but in the daylight, it is a beautiful park, lots of people- and animal- and bird-watching to do. And the Bay is the Bay -- beautiful.Listed in: San Leandro Treats

Its very hard to make a good impression on me. Whether if it's a place or person, but the marina park deserves my 5 stars.
Its a park, so everyone has there own thing going on. People playing soccer, walking their dogs, taking a nice nap under the trees, Anything! As for me, you will see me every other day taking a break from the world and doing my routine laps.
You can actually breathe out here. Its so beautiful.
Now i do have something to say. People, this is a public area open for everyone. Childen, and adults. This is not an area to be having sex in the car parking lots, or on the picnic tables. If ur to cheap to rent a $50 motel, then you shouldn't be having sex in the first place. Also, pet owners please pick up after your beloved animals. I'm sure many of us like urselves don't like to have dog "droppings" on our shoes. Its just nasty. Keep it clean. Were not cave people. -

Good times man. I love this place. Its really scenic and pretty and actually pretty soothing when you just wanna visit somewhere to S-L-O-W things down! Ya know!
Several restaurants with nice bars is located on the water front - nice place to meet and hang with friends. Even better date place. I used to go here after a Friday night dinner and movie, and it never disappointed. You can also watch planes landing at Oakland airport.
One thing, you should watch out for while visiting is the lil ghetto/thug crowd this place generates during late night hours (think midnight Friday or Saturday nights)... so just watch your surroundings and you should be fine.
Enjoy! -

Fun place to hang out and get in a bicycle ride because of all the flat land. Lots of play areas for the kids and a pretty scenery and view of the bay. Also atteneded a few parties at the Spinnaker Yacht Club decor kinda hokey but enough space to have a proper party.
Golf across the way and great eats at Horatios if you have the means. -

On days that I feel like my "batteries need to be recharged" I head on over to this wonderful breezy place to enjoy the picturesque qualities of this place, as well as the wonderful atmosphere, and the awesome Pacific wind with the WICKED COOL views of the airplanes taking off/landing at the Oakland airport.
If you are a new runner...I recommend trying out the "dog walking park" area as a warm up (walking/jogging for a mile)...then the bay area trail (flat paved area) as a run. Please be sure to have on proper running shoes while running at this palce, if not...the paved surfaces will be detrimental to ones joints.
For certain, this place is a wonderful obstacle course for those who want to get into running as the dog walking area is a great warm up (plus there are cool exercise stations at specific points) and the running area at the Bay Trail is flat (with AWESOME views of the bay and winged wildlife).
On a side note:
- This place is GREAT for the little ones as it is environmentally stimulating (they will be sure to ask you about the on-goings of the world)
- This place is family oriented with open spaces...A LOT of wind from the Pacific...and far too much surface area for the little ones to run around on and get tired :-p
- There are ice cream vendors in this park, so...bring some change with you in order to get your kids (if you have kids) or yourself on a ice cream sugar high
- Be careful of the beady eyed ground squirrels on the dog walking area. From personal experience, if you fake that you have food...they will remember you and will stalk you whenever you visit the area (in short...leave those crazy ground squirrels alone!!!)
- The kids play ground is great! Very clean and safe as I've enjoyed the kids play ground with my nieces and nephew many times
This is a great place for a picnic or a family b-day event...however...if you are not there early enough...you may not get a spot on the turf...or a good spot where the wind won't blow your guests down. Running, jogging or walking...this place is great!
For those of you who are like me and into running...I recommend being there at low tied so that you can run out to the Island. If you can't swim (like yours truly)...then...I would advise to pay close attention to the tides and your timing!!! :-p -

Hayward, CA
The Marina is a great place for a run, walk, spot to play some sports or just hang out on a nice day in the bay. It's clean and the water is really refreshing (unlike some other areas). It's pretty big too so even though it does get crowded at time when the weather is nice, there is probably still space for breathing room. We've always been able to find parking too, but I can imagine how that might be a hassle depending on the amount of people vs spots. The only negative (for me at least) is that it gets really windy at times and that might not be the best scenario when you're running, trying to get a BBQ going or if you're trying to relax.
