The best indian pizza I have had in the bay area so far!

Hard to give any place 5 stars, but until I find a better indian pizza place, this is it for me!

Every indian pizza I have tried here has been amazing! I believe it is under the Desi Delights section of their menu. I have not tried anything else other than their india pizzas, so this reviews is based solely on those pizzas.

My favorite by far is the tandoori chicken pizza. That might just because it is difficult finding good tasting and not too dry tandoori chicken. The only other place I really like for tandoori chicken is Shan's. If you like lamb, their lamb kabab pizza is really good too.

In general the best way to describe these pizzas is the cheese is always very stringy, like the cartoon ninja turtle pizza, but probably not as stretchy. The dough/bread of the pizza is about medium. It is not thin crust or thick crust but in between. It is more like digiorno type of pizza crust and bread, except it rises better. Also I believe on their indian pizzas, at least to me, they do not use the traditional tomato pizza sauce. Their sauce they use for the pizza is like a curry paste almost. It's soooooo tasty! The bread is not too crispy either, but you might be able to ask them to leave it in longer if you like crispier bread or crust. Their crust is really good too! Not too crunchy but at the same time like eating fresh sourdough.

In terms of the taste its almost tastes like you are eating indian food on pizza, bu the fusion of the indian taste with pizza is simply almost perfect! I say almost perfect because I kind of want it to taste more like indian food than pizza, but its more like 55% taste like a normal pizza and then the other 45% is like eating indian food. The indian taste on the pizza is not a strong, so if you don't like indian food, I would highly recommend trying this place out and it might change your mind! That's right, it is that GOOOODDD!! Or as Tony the tiger would say, "it's GGGrrreeeeaaatttt!!" I have to say though, as I said in the beginning, best indian pizza I have ever had.

The people who work there are very friendly too. If you have a hard time deciding what to get, they will be more than happy to help you decide.

    In summary:
    Pizza: 5.1 stars!!
    Yup, greater than 5 stars!!

    Service: 4 stars.
Not the most perfect service I have had, but its still much better than average. Also plentiful amount of seating.

    Parking: 5 stars!
Tons of parking! always a plus especially when you want delicious SF food, but parking always may cost you.

    Location: 3.5 stars
Kind of in a random area and very far south san jose where most people may not go or is as convenient as being around the more in between 101 and 280 area.

Average this out it comes to 4.4 stars, but since this review is more about the food as it usually is. I took out the location as part of my rating, since I would totally drive the distance to come here. But thought I'd add in my opinion about the location.

We tried the hot stuff and the lamb kebab pizzas. The flavor on the pizzas was very good. I was a bit skeptical about an Indian style pizza but they do a great job here. A couple of things I wasn't a huge fan of was the crust and the cheese. They put a bit too much cheese on the pizzas and the crust could be more thin and crisp. Overall though, a solid pizza. The service here was very friendly.

Lamb Kabab - Minced Lamb Kabab, Onion, bell peppers, cilantro and Garlic and Jalapeno on garlic spicy Indian sauce, topped with Cilantro

Hot Stuff -Spicy Italian sausage, Onion, bell peppers and fresh jalapenos with Pizza sauce

Imagine a tear in the space and time continuum creating a portal to an unknown world.  You'd want to go, but felt like you needed the right timing, the right reasoning, and to be fully prepared for it.  That was me with this place.  I had San Jose Pizza and Pasta bookmarked for months just looking for the right reason to go and try it.  And, wooooow do I wish I did before.

I actually ordered and took it home to the GF and kids...and I'll admit something here.  I seriously considered just pulling over and ripping that cardboard lid off on the side of the road.  It smelled SOOO amazing!

This pizza is sooooo gooood.  Sorry, it's an understatement...."AMAZING" would be better!  Who woulda thought it would turn out so amazing?

I have a true love for pizza and a growing fondness towards Indian food, and this is just the right combination of both.  The pizza I've gotten twice because I liked it so much would have to be the chili paneer.  As a lover of cheese I'm obviously then also a lover of paneer.  Such a flavor!

**Important tip insert: To add a bit of spice and kick I added a sprinkle of hot curry powder over the top.**

I'd really recommend this because it REALLY brings out the flavor and feel of the whole experience.

I've also gotten the Garlic Veggie which was dynamic(although less Indian feeling).  Still an amazing pizza.  The crusts are perfect in my opinion.  As a fan of both thick/deep dish and also thin frisbee pizzas, I must say that my favorite would be a typical American "in between" size crust.  Theirs is in this vein.  Not deep, not thin.  Just right.  Dip it in some Indian spices for a slight touch of spice tastebud heaven.

Inside resembles a typical American pizza place.  Tv's for the games, casual environment.  Not a fancy date spot at all.  They have some buffet style trays and I'm not sure what they use them for, perhaps the pizza lunch buffet or salad bar.  I have only been in right before closing both times.

I'm such a fan and can't wait to go back!  I've told other friends about it who have gone and also been shocked.  I almost wish I wasn't veg cause I want to try the tandoori chicken.  Oh wellz.

The boothang and I really enjoyed the casual vibe that we got. Our waitress, Linda, was extremely sweet. She was attentive and social.

We ordered a cream pesto fetticine combo and the Hawaiin Queen pizza. The garlic bread that came with the fetticine was crunchy and delicious and the cream pesto was perfect. The crust for the pizza was nice and crunchy and the cheese on the pizza was so perfectly melted, it looked like those pizza commercials where the cheese would leave a whole trail. Mmmm!

I'd definitely come back to try other things on the menu. Oh, don't forget to check in on Yelp! You get 10% off. (:

Every time I drive back from LA, I come here to have a pizza covered with Indian food. That's right - two delicious things merged together. It might sound weird, it might sound gross, but it's NOT.  Not since the marriage of peanut butter & jelly has combination of food been this epic.

They serve beer, but are usually out of the better stuff. My only concern is that every time I'm here, I'm usually the only person here, aside from the people that run/own the place.

It really just gets a -1 from me because I have to go alllll the way down to South San Jose. If you message me and tell me there are places further than that, let me just save you some trouble - I consider everything South San Jose because it's way too far for me.

San Jose Pizza is one of the best pizza places in San Jose.  The specialty here are the Desi pizzas, which come in a variety of flavors.  I was a little reserved about how pizza and curry would go together, and to my surprise, it was an excellent combination that complimented each other very well.  The Navarattan Veggie and Chicken Masala pizzas are both super delicious.  Both came with a variety of fresh vegetables and herbs.  Both were very flavorful, and had a good balance between pizza and curry flavors.  The crust was outstanding, and was one of the best that we had had.  It was fluffy and crispy at the same time, not overly doughy, and had a good balance of sweet/salty flavors, and was really fresh.  The flavors in the dough really went along nicely with the pizza toppings and curry.  My husband recommends getting a side of the masala sauce for dipping the pizza in.

Service is always amazing, and it is a place that makes you feel like you are right at home.  Linda (the waitress/owner) always takes care of her customers.  Water glasses are always promptly filled, and she is always checking in to make sure that you have everything that you need. Aside from prompt service, the atmosphere is very friendly and welcoming.

Prices are very reasonable. The pizza is also very filling, so I feel it is a really good deal for the price.

All in All, San Jose Pizza is outstanding and is a superb pizza joint :) .

I'm writing a review at 4 in the morning, how's that for loving this place? =)

I don't do a lot of reviews but this one deserved it. I been here 3-4 times and I hafta admit I'm hooked. Excellent food + Outstanding service = Super Awesome Tummy experience!

I love pizza. I love Indian food. But man, put em together? And you got a mind-blowing explosion of spices and flavor on your pizza dough in your mouth. I never thought eating pizza this good would be this healthy at all too lol.

Anyways, so far I've tried the regular style pizzas, the Desi pizzas - Palak Paneer, Tandoori chicken, Chicken Tikka, Chili Paneer and Garlic veggies. Not once was I disappointed. Each one was able to deliver way beyond expectations. They were all fresh and flavorful and the crust was thickness and crunch perfection. And last night, I tried the Tuscany Ravioli pasta, just to die for. (Thanks for the recommendation Linda!)

I must say it's a unique and incredible mix of that Western style food and Indian flavor. Everything on the menu's worth trying and super affordable. Curiosity paid off well!

Oh and did I mention they have wi-fi?! Now that deserves a 6th star! =)

Read about this place on Yelp and thought that the fusion of Indian flavors with pizza sounded interesting, so decided to give it a go with a bunch of friends for my belated b-day celebration. We ordered the Tandoori Chicken pizza, the Chicken Masala pizza, the Stromboli pizza and the Baked Rigatoni with meat sauce and a side of carrots for the little guy.

I liked the Tandoori Chicken pizza the best, though the consensus amongst the group was the Chicken Masala pizza. My least favorite was the Stromboli, though that's because I'm not generally a fan of Stromboli on account of the mustard.  The pizzas were flavorful and the delivery of Tandoori Chicken via pizza slices works really well. I didn't try the baked rigatoni, but the portion size was very generous, as was the side of carrots.

The service was prompt and courteous. The owner was very hands on, as was his little boy who gave us cups for our soda. I liked that this is a family-run affair.  We came on a Saturday around Noon and we were the largest group there (group of 10 + toddler) with a couple other two- and four-tops. It's tucked away in between the CVS Pharmacy and the Pet Club with very small signage, so it's a little difficult to find. However, it;s one of those gems that's worth searching out for.

There were enough other Desi pizzas that we wanted to try that I think we will definitely come back to this establishment. I really hope that it stays around despite it's poor signage and hidden location.

I discovered this place while playing Yelp Dartboard (more on that later), and when I saw "Indian" with the word "Pizza", I just had to try it. So my good friend and I arranged to meet up here and sample the food.

The service was very prompt. I had arrived first, and while I was texting my friend, the server/cashier greeted me and offered me a table and brought me some water. And while I was waiting, she asked me if I was ready to order if I wanted to wait for my friend, showing me attention without being pushy. (Though it prolly helped that it was Sunday on the day after Christmas at 1:30pm, so there weren't very many customers who needed attention.)

After my friend arrived, we ordered the Chicken Tikka Combo pizza. At first I was worried that the whole "Indian Pizza" thing would be gimmicky. But as it turns out, they combine Indian food with pizza quite naturally. Instead of trying to be all in-your-face with Indian food and stuff, it was just your regular American pizza, except with chicken tikka and Indian garlic sauce instead of, well, normal regular ingredients.

And it was quite delicious, too. I originally figured we'd just eat half the pizza and take the other half home for leftovers, but the pizza was so good that we ended up eating the whole thing. Not only that, but normally I can't stand olives. And I apparently didn't see the part on the menu that says that the Chicken Tikka Combo had olives. And when the pizza arrived, I thought about picking off all the olives. But then I had a slice anyway, and the pizza was just so good that I didn't care about the olives. And trust me, it takes a damn good pizza to make me eat olives. And the crust was perfect. It was crispy without being stiff, and it was tender without being sloppy.

Now, I'm only giving them 4 stars, because I reserve 5 stars only for restaurants that make me immediately say "wow, this deserves a 5-star review on Yelp" (pretty rare, it's only ever happened once) or for restaurants that consistently deliver high-quality food and high-quality service. And since I've only been here once, I can't really comment about consistency.

But next time I'm in San Jose, I'm definitely going to come back. (And try other Desi pizzas, like the Palak Paneer.) And if these guys consistently deliver delicious pizza, I'll definitely bump them up to 5 stars.

It was Good Friday so my husband decided to order a veggie pizza from here. I was very reluctant because, for one, I'd never even heard of San Jose Pizza, and two, I wouldn't order anything "all veggie."

We ordered over the phone and expected it to be $15, but it came out to be about $10! Sweet! I must say, the person who laid out this pizza really put a lot of thought and love into it. It was a purrrdy pizza. It was fresh tasting, light but filling, and I felt somewhat healthy eating it.

The reason it's not 5 stars is because I still love Pizza Hut's greasy crust more. However, SJ Pizza would be my next choice!

My friend who loves Indian food suggested that I try the Indian pizzas here. We had the chicken tikka masala pizza and the chicken tandori pizza. The flavors were good; they weren't overwhelming as I expected. Just think of it as pizza with a hint of Indian food. But the crust was too doughy, and my friends agreed. I think it would taste better with a crispier crust.  The prices are cheap, and an XL pizza split among 4 ppl was sufficient.

This place is a little hard to find, but it's right to the left of CVS.

For the price this place is excellent. We ordered a large cheese and a Margherita pizza.

What makes this place 5 stars though is the employee who was at the cashier. She was very nice, offered me water while I waited, and was very courteous.

The place was clean and also had two flat screen tv's.

What brought us here? The intrigue of Indian pizza! I was hoping it would be as good as Zante's in SF, but unfortunately, it was far from it. The food itself was mediocre, but I have to say the service was excellent and entertaining.

Our group of 8 walked in and was debating between the buffet or ordering a few large desi pizzas. The ones I wanted to try were the tandoori chicken and the lamb kabob, so I asked the server if indian pizzas were included as part of the buffet. She said only the tandoori was offered, but if we all decided to order the buffet, she'd add the lamb (it was like she was reading my mind!). As part of the $6.50 including tax buffet, there was pizza, pasta, and salad. The pizzas were probably a size small, and cut into 4 pieces. The flavors of the pizzas were just okay, crust was thick and soft. The tandoori seemed overpowered by chili powder, and the lamb kabob was decent but felt a little plain, and the salad ingredients were pretty fresh. Was not as big a fan of the pasta, but there was some really delicious chicken kabob also in the pasta section. For the price, it was a pretty decent meal.

But what really made this restaurant fun was the cashier/server (I believe her name was Linda?). She was very frank and her humor was snippy. The game show network (GSN) was playing on the flat panel tv, and there was an 80's game show called Lingo being broadcast. Linda was really good at guessing the words on there. I won't go into details of the game, but when one of the contestants made a really stupid guess, Linda blurted out "you need to kick that girl off your team!" lolz. The 8 of us really got into the game and started guessing along with her.

When we were about to pay, she allowed us to pay separately, which was nice of her. Towards the end of our lunch she said if we mentioned her name to the froyo place next door, we'd get a 30% discount. That story is for another time (eg, see next review). But also as we were leaving, she said (with a wink) that if we go back, she would have dessert for us too! Loving it!

I was looking for a "mom and pop" pasta place and i think i've found it. Usually for whatever reason pasta and lasagna seem to be extremely over priced in all places, but not here.
They have regular pizzas, but also some indian pizzas. All of which I can say are pretty good. The spices they use create a type of fusion for all their dishes, which doesn't make it authentic, but definitely makes it unique.
Staff is extremely friendly and accommodating.

Disgusting smell in the place and it transferred to the pizza I brought home. Had to throw the pizza out without even eating it.

Looked up Yelp for good pizza places that I haven't tried yet. Basically tried most of the places around, but this one. They had a special on their site for $9.99 any large specialty pizza, which I couldn't pass. Called them up, ordered for a pickup for their "Hot Stuff" pizza, told me it'll be ready in ~20 minutes.

Now finding this place at first was a little hard for me.. it actually took me about 5-10 minutes of driving/stopping and calling them to find the place. The restaurant is literally hidden inside a little crevice if shops in a large shopping center.

Once I found the place, walked in to a nice, clean place. Greeted with smiles, and the lady working the cashier was really nice.

Pizza was a bit cold by the time I got home, but I take fault in that, took too long to find the place! The pizza toppings were delicious, and I liked the spiciness, it had a good kick to it. That spicy Italian sausage wasn't gross like a lot of other pizza shops who put sausage on their pizza.

However, the pizza dough was kind of lacking a certain... texture and flavor to it. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't really worth mentioning. The pizza sauce was good, but it wasn't special.

All in all, great place to grab a good quality pizza for a good price. Next time I'm going to try their Indian Gourmet Sauce, maybe that will bump up my review to 5 stars ^^.

The pizza, both times I've ordered, is amazing. Customizing my order wasn't a problem either. Most recently, I've had a large garlic chicken pizza with a pesto sauce that was the best thing.
I definitely recommend this place to someone who is looking for a gourmet yet affordable pizza. I plan on visiting this establishment again in the future!

If you can find this place go in. My brother and I came on a random night and ordered an Indian pizza to go. The crust was fluffy and crunchy, the chicken half of the pizza was well seasoned and the paneer part was good but not as good as the chicken malsa (sp?). Overall I would come back again as I've never had Indian pizza before and the wait was not long as the place was empty!

Do you enjoy Indian food, pizza, and incredibly low prices?  If so, you will probably enjoy San Jose Pizza.  Not only are SJP's desi (Indian) pizzas a bargain, the quality of each pie is top notch.  I go here several times a month and have yet to be disappointed.  Even when I'm not in the mood for a desi pizza, their standard cheese or one-topping pizzas are a steal at $4.99 and $5.99.  Why pay $5 for a Little Caesars Hot-and-Ready when you can pay about the same for a high quality pizza made fresh for you??

And lastly, if you are unsure as to which desi pie to pick, you can't go wrong with the palak paneer.  It's served me well ever since I stumbled upon this gem of a pizza joint almost two years ago.

Ordered two pizzas for delivery. The guy who answered the phone was friendly and knowledgable about the menu. One downer was the ten dollar specials are full price when delivered.  Two specialty pizzas came out to be $35ish. It was a little shy of an hour to arrive.
We ordered the shahi paneer and the tandoori chicken. Unfortunately the pizza was not good. Actually it was so awful I had one slice of each and gave up.
The pizza smelled great. But the flavors didn't seem to work on the pizza for me. I think what made me not want to continue eating the pizza was the crust. It seemed undercooked. Doughy, flimsy, cold,  no crunch.
All in all; customer service great. Prices.... eh.  Delivery time alright. Flavors ok. Crust bad. 3 stars.

My first time having Indian pizza.  It was good!  We had an XL pizza, half chicken palak and half palak paneer (palak = spinach), a large pepperoni, and an order of buffalo wings.  GOOD!  We had a http://restaurant.com certificate (check them out), so we had to order $35 worth of food, which was a LOT.  I swear we're not just pigs.  Well, that too.

My favorite was the chicken palak.  The spinach sauce was not overpowering like I thought it would be - just enough to make it delicious.  The crust was also thin, somewhat crunchy, but not too much so.  The pepperoni was pretty good too.  Everything is pretty cheap.  The buffalo wings left a bit to be desired (I swear they were from Costco), but we didn't care.  Good pizza.

Service was also friendly.  There were no napkins, condiments, or silverware at the table, but whatever.  They brought napkins when we asked and we were eating pizza so who needs silverware?  My only complaint is that it's far away, but I'd definitely come back.

I'm not sure how I feel about this restaurant.  I saw them on http://restaurant.com, when I did a search for something within 5 miles of my house, so I purchased a $25 gc for $2.  I should have read the reviews first to brace me for how it really was like.

First off, we had a REALLY hard time finding the place.  We drove up and down Blossom Hill, and in all of the plazas, and still couldn't find it.  I finally put all pride aside, even though this was in MY hood, and called and asked them where they were located.  They're actually between CVS and Pet Club, in that little hallway thing.

Even when we knew where it was, it was hard to find, because there's no sign.  When we walked in, all we smelled was Indian food.  The place is really dirty.  It used to be a Thai restaurant, and then Taj Mahal bought it out.  I guess they decided to branch out to pizza, because you can actually walk back and forth to the Indian restaurant.  Don't get me wrong. I love Indian food, but it was just really weird to smell it so strongly in a pizza place.

The patrons look WEIRD.  Like teeth missing, tweeker kinda weird.  We were there on Monday, so the game was playing on 2 flatscreens.

We were there with 4 adults and 1 child, and ordered an XL 1/2 Hawaiian, 1/2 shrimp pesto something, and an order of wings.  We also brought a bottle of wine and paid $5 for corkage.  The pizza crust was ok.  Nothing memorable, but not really crappy either.  The toppings were actually really good.  The shrimp had good flavors to it, with pesto, and garlic all up in the mix.  The thing is, the XL was pretty small.  It was barely enough food for us.  Lucky the yogurt place is next door, or we would have ordered more wings or something.

I'm not sure if I'd come back.  The service was friendly once she warmed up to us, but at first it wasn't that great.  The prices were really decent.  With the coupon, along with ordering a few drinks, we only had to shell out $15 out of pocket.  However, once again, we barely had enough food.

Give it a try.  Eventually the Indian food smell will go away.  But really, I think their Indian food might be more worth the trip.

    Oh. My. God.

If you love Indian food, you will not die happy without trying this pizza. We ordered the Navrattan Veggie pizza (I'm veggie) and reached Nirvana with the first bite!

I have to admit that this is the first time I've tried Desi pizza, but I dare say they've NAILED it!

Chicken Pizza Masala...Talk about hole in the wall. Literally you can barely see the sign from the parking lot, but let me tell you, you will rejoice if you do stumble upon this Indian pizza gem. Any specialty pizza for 9.99? Pitchers for $8? I got the garlic chicken combo with pesto sauce, mushrooms and bell peppers and it had some serious flavor! Our waitress was very nice and funny. I didn't get a chance to try the Indian style pizza but they sounded tasty and I would be quite willing to give it a shot.

I'm so glad this place is closeby. For the prices, they serve some great pizza that hits the spot. My to go comfort food is the garlic knots - CARBOLICIOUS! I dip those doughy knots in the butter and garlic that pools on the bottom of the tray ... Mmmmm.... I haven't tried the Desi pizzas, but the simple pepperoni/olive/mushroom from here gets my thumbs up!

I was skeptical about this place even though I love Taj Palace...I didn't think that indian food and pizza would go well.

BUT the pizza is great and about 20 other family members agree. It's very decently priced, the vegetables are fresh, great dough, sauce...everything. They're also quick! Unfortunately, they don't deliver...but I'm hoping that will change.

So far, I've tried the garden gourmet (thumbs up) and the garlic chicken (thumbs up). Yummy. Now if only 20 minutes would pass faster so I can go pick up my Magarita Pizza!

Best Desi Pizza in the Bay Area
I just had the Chili Paneer Pizza, which is a dry pizza
I need to have a gravy one to really compare this to CanAm Pizza in Bellevue, WA (near Seattle), but am very happy with the food here and will definitely go again.

People talk about Tasty India Pizza (yuck! horrible) and Pizza Pub (average at best), but those places are pathetic compared to this - San Jose Pizza absolutely rocks!

And did I mention that their Pesto Cheese Garlic Bread is to die for?

    Mmmmmm, lovely

The place has some pretty dang good pizza. My wife and I came hear because of all the great yelp reviews and score again for Yelp. We had the gourmet veggie ( because of good friday) and it was fresh and tasty. I would definitely go back because the pizza was good and the large was only $10. Guess I will have to try other types the next time I go.

I recently discovered this spot on Yelp...and it's tremendous! Little Caesar's prices, but 10x the quality. SJ Pizza appears to be a family owned spot, meaning you get that extra effort in the food preparation not found at the chain restaurants (not to mention you are paying twice as much).

So far I've just tried the basics: cheese, pepperoni, combo and veggie. All great. Next time I'm going for one of the Indian inspired pizzas, and I can't wait.

I'm huge pizza fanatic, and given the great prices and superior quality, I can say it doesn't get any better then SJ Pizza.

Finally pizza with character! A culinary niche with great potential.

No matter how you slice it, the average American Pizza has become saturated, literally. If you're looking for bleached flour, grease and frozen manufactured ingredients then go to Pizza Hut.

If you're even slightly educated and are looking for a pizza that actually has something beneficial for your body San Jose Pizza will serve up a great meal.

San Jose Pizza brings pizza back to the origins of pizza, fresh ingredients! This is pizza with integrity. The fresh ingredient combinations are seamless and pretty much harmonic. We ordered a large for the three of us and polished off every last piece.

Came here for some Pizza during the week.  They had a pretty decent special, $6.95 for a large pizza.  Unfortunately you can't get the special for the Indian Style Pizzas.

Nonetheless the Pizza was suprisingly good, and I'll order take out again.

**EDIT** I removed my comment about a teenager that I thought worked here (he was behind the cash register and was answering customer phone calls).  See Owners comments below.

I purchased a $25 http://restaurant.com off $35 so was anxious to try out San Jose Pizza. I was pleasantly surprised with their desi pizza - Shahi Paneer. Woah, did it taste good, I would never have thought of indian spices on a pizza with paneer, but the combination worked!  I ordered 25mins ahead on the phone and it was ready, piping hot when I arrived ..

Also ordered a regular american gourmet veggie which was, well, OK as you would expect. But come here for the desi pizzas, garlic cheese bread and pesto cheese bread.

It is located in the corner next to Taj Palace, in the center of a strip mall on the corner of Snell and Blossom Hill Rd, down from CVS pharmacy drug store.   I will definitely go back in a month or so ... desi pizza, yum!

The first pizza I had was the Pesto Treat - YUM. The first thing that I noticed when I started to take a bite was the delicious aroma of garlic. Not overpowering at all - just really wonderful. Then the first bite - OMG is this pizza crust??? It tastes like fresh-made focaccia - yeasty and tender yet with a touch of crispiness that good pizza crust has on the bottom. The mix of flavors was really well balanced and although there was garlic I didn't feel like I would reek of it for the next few days.

Last night I had something new. San Jose pizza was trying a new concept: ready to bake pizza. Being adventurous I tried a Desi-style pizza. It came vacuum packed on an bake-able paper pizza pan.

Now I am rather famous (or notorious) for my lack of skill in the kitchen. Seriously - I could burn water and the last baking I tried a couple of years ago (a brownie mix) failed miserably. I hoped I wouldn't mess it up too badly. I preheated the oven to 450 per the directions and put the pizza in for 6 minutes. OMG the aroma! When it came out I could hardly wait to taste it. WOW! I have never had a pizza that tasted like this, and I mean that in a good way.

The Indian Gourmet Sauce was just the right level of spiciness and just the right amount. The veggies were cooked perfectly and the cheese bubbly. The crust was that wonderful yeasty crust I had with the Pesto Treat. The flavors were superb. Rarely have I been so contented after eating a pizza.

Was this like the creations of the chain pizza places? No Way! This is something new. Can Indian food and Pizza Mix? Absolutely! Think about it. Naan is similar to pizza crust. Many sauces in Indian cooking have a tomato base. Cheese is widely used. Veggies - well that's a DUH. I can only imagine a tandoori chicken or lamb topping.

Prices seem quite reasonable. The price ranges from $7.25 for an 8" to 18.25 for a 16". I have paid more than $30 for one of the chain "specialty pizzas" and found it to be just "meh".

If you are getting tired of the same old pizza from Round Hut or Pizza Table, give San Jose Pizza a try. If you are feeling adventurous order a Desi Pizza. You never know, you may love it.
