24 reviews for San Jose Hilton And Towers Hotel
This clean hotel with its modern decor caters mainly to the business traveler, not families like mine who bunked down here one weekend while our male head of house participated in the Silicon Valley Marathon.
The restaurant didn't have a kids menu. In fact, the closest this place comes to having a kid-friendly amenity is the tiny after thought of a pool on the third floor outside the work out room. It photographs long (see my photo for proof) but, trust me this is a kiddie pool. It is no more than 3 feet deep, about 10 feet long and as far as width --- my husband could stand in the center of it and touch both sides with his hands.
The staff is nice. But, the dinner staff in the restaurant was half asleep --- they even brought us the wrong entree order! The breakfast staff was on top of things though! When we presented two brunch buffet certificates given to Hilton Gold members for breakfast, the staff did not charge us for our kids.
Other items of note:
- there was a fridge in the room
- magnifying mirror in the bathroom
- there was NO blow dryer in the bathroom!
- $20 parking a night! OUCH!!

I spent very little time at the hotel (except to sleep), and never ate/drank/called the restaurant, cafe, bar, or room service. So my review is a little bare bones.
PRO
-Clean, spacious rooms, with very stylish decor.
-Helpful and friendly staff
-room packages seem pretty sweet
-fridge in the room
-magnifying mirror in the bathroom
-all the usual stuff hotels give you (TV, iron, AC, toiletries, etc.)
CON
-$20 parking a night.
-The restaurant\bar and the lobby had a studio apartment thing going on. There weren't any walls to separate them. This didn't really bother me at all, but at one point a highschool reunion was being held at the bar area. Anyone could have just waltzed right in. Awkward!
-Paris and Nicky: gross!
MIXED
-The gym and the pool are kind of a joke. They're tiny, but honestly I think the majority of their guests don't use these services anyway. The pool is located on the third (?) floor, and it's kind of neat to be overlooking the streets of San Jose while you swim. Uncomfortably, a section of the hotel rooms overlook the pool, so a pervert could be watching you in your swimsuit! ... Although it's not terribly likely. It was pretty neat to swim in the hot tub while watching the sun set and seeing planes go by.
-In Mid-August, it was $109 for a basic queen, which I think is pretty fantastic. But I searched a lot of different San Jose hotel prices and many of them also seemed to fall in the $100-150 range. I went with the Hilton, because of its convenient location, but it seems like we could have stayed almost anywhere in town for almost the same price.
The San Jose Hilton is fine. It's clean and centrally located in San Jose Downtown / Convention area. I stayed in a suite and it was okay. I've also stayed at the Fairmont in downtown San Jose, which you would think would be much more expensive, but I found their rates to be competitive, so if I had to choose between the two, the Fairmont would be my #1 choice. There happen to be a random shooting in the parking garage on the night I was staying at the Hilton and I ended up having to park 3 blocks away from the hotel in another parking garage, but the hotel was good about issuing a refund for parking and it wasn't too big of a deal.
One big negative which warrants the 2 stars...DO NOT EAT THE BREAKFAST BUFFET. The food is fine, but it's really expensive, I'm talking kicked in the gut, almost ready to cry when you get the bill, WTF kind of expensive!!!
For eggs, bacon and fruit it cost $20.50 per person without a tip. I've had the exact same breakfast for free in many other hotels. Total ripoff and really left me feeling robbed! I won't be staying here again, not because there's anything wrong with the rooms, but simply on the principle that they ridiculously overcharge for their crappy buffet. Worst part is, a lot of people think it is complimentary since they don't have any signage saying otherwise. Way to kick people when they are down. Shape up Hilton and don't screw your guests like that. It's not nice!

The room was big, clean and up to date. You even had a spacious office (A+ for that ), but a very bad smell came from the restroom and the hallway... eww. I will never forget that smell.. I think the poop company didn't pick up the load..lol..
___________Message for P. Hilton..____________________
Do something about that please..... TTY___ (N) or (L) ???
I just stayed here for a convention and it was nice. The front desk was very helpful whenever I needed something. The room was clean and the bed was comfy. I like the Crabtree & Evelyn toiletries they provide. I wish they had better cable - HD with the flatscreens would have been nice.
The restaurant downstairs is overpriced for the quality of food you get. You really pay for convenience. The service at the restaurant was subpar.

I have spent almost three weeks in this hotel's various conference rooms for work meetings. I feel like goldilocks - all the rooms are either too hot and stuffy or too cold. The parking garage has "compact" spots that are anorexic. You can also park in the convention center lot just prior to the hotel's main entrance. There's a starbucks kiosk in the lobby, but.......it's not a full menu, and was not really satisfying. The staff was relatively nice, but I would not go out of my way to book rooms here for another event.
FYI - free wireless is easily accessible and reasonably fast in all public areas.
This Hilton was a decent hotel and definitely okay to stay if you are in for a short trip. It was a little outdated, but the rooms were decent size and definitely comfortable enough. It is close to the airport; also, entertainment and restaurants are within walking distance (as you are right in downtown).
Finally, the hotel is attached to the San Jose convention center--definitely convenient if you are there for a convention.
DATE: January 17, 2009, 6:30 PM to Midnight
OCCASION: Boyfriend's Company Holiday Party
ENTERTAINMENT: Provided by BF's company
Casino Night, DJ and Karaoke
1. HOTEL LOBBY: Hip, chic and modern although the hotel still looks old
2. FOOD & DRINKS: Generously provided by BF's company
Salud!: Apple Martini, Margaritas and Red: Drinks were strong and generous. The wine was almost filled to the rim!
Hors D' Oeuvres: Ceviche, jumbo prawns, baked oysters, dungeness crab legs and beef/chicken fajitas. The hors d' oeuvres were the best part of dinner.
Main: Dried out salmon and over-cooked filet mignon (Yuck!)
Sweets: Pretty good tiramisu enjoyed with decent coffee
Room service:
Shrimp Platter (Not bad but how hard is it to mess up prawns?) $ 19.95
Barbecue Pork Sandwich and Fries (BF retched it out around 4 AM) $11
3. ROOM:
(+) Spacious and clean
Bathroom was modern and newly remodeled
Bed was soft and comfortable
Flat-screen TV, refrigerator, play station, internet hook-ups
(-) Decor was Ikea-like contemporary and modern but not chic and cozy
Flourescent lights were blinding although I heard all CA hotels are now required to switch to energy saving bulbs.
H20 pressure was weak and shower knobs were hard to gauge
SERVICE: Efficient and very friendly staff
OVERALL:
What a FUN night!! Free booze, free food and free $1000 casino chips! I played Black Jack for a little bit but I am not really a gambler so, I let BF take over.
BF and I did not have a good night's rest. We are not sure why but it was not a cozy hotel. It was good for one night stay and a place to crash after a night of carousing, drinking and "gambling." But we still had FUN, regardless!!
I should not be complaining because we won first prize at the casino: $300!!! (Well, BF won it and he shared the loot with lucky me!)
TOTAL:
Valet: $23.00
Room: $120.00 Special rate for event guests
Room Service: $31.00
Dinner and Fun: $0
SPECIAL THANKS: Thank you BF's company for a wonderful and generous holiday party and for keeping my BF employed.

Beautiful Hotel..... Gorgeous... The beds were awesome and the pillows, best pillows EVER. Hands down. Our room had a great view of the park across the street. Now for the explanation of the 2 stars.
$ 20 parking...... eh o.k. I get that
$60 buffet...... (2 adults, 2 kids) Outrageous!
O.k. so it's the Buffet that really chaps my hide! When we checked in the attendant said "Make sure you come downstairs and get breakfast. 6 - 11 am" So we did. There was no posting or sign suggesting you would later be forced to pay money for the buffet. The buffet itself was not that great but thinking it was free we choked it down anyways. Pretty standard dishes : scrambled eggs, sausage and bacon, fruit, yogurt, cereal, potatoes. Nothing to get excited about. We were done eating the food and they bring us a bill for 60 dollars. First of all I would never pay 60 for breakfast. Even if I had the kind of money were i could afford such an expensive breakfast I would not do so. It's BREAKFAST! We call it the most important meal of the day but really it's not. So we talked to the manager and told him the situation and got nada. Nothing he just kind of looked at us with a blank stare on his face. So we paid the outrageous bill and didn't look back. They get 2 stars because the hotel IS beautiful. And they are in the RAINBOW Pages.
Will I ever go back, Maybe.
Will I eat the buffet? Huh what do you think?

The Good: The bed was comfortable. It is very close to lots of Downtown San Jose attractions. Very convenient to convention center.
The Bad: The room is decorated in a modern style which meant every piece of furniture besides the bed was horribly uncomfortable. The pool is ridiculously tiny. It is quite literally 3 feet by 9 feet. It is wedged on a small balcony on the 3rd floor. The maximum capacity if 5 people!!! You can't swim in it. The price is way too high. We got a glass of wine and a diet coke from the bar (not room service) and it was $16.50!!!
There are other hotels nearby with the same positives and fewer negatives. Check out the Fairmont instead. They have a huge pool on the roof.
I came here with a friend in support of the huge game convention what have you...
The hotel is ok, for a hilton.
The prices are outrageous. almost $6 for a V8....puh-leese.

Stayed here for a night and it was just your typical sad hotel experience. The restaurant downstairs was mediocre, the bar was packed full of crazy partyiers trying to catch a drink before heading out.
The bellboy/valet service was kick ass ( 5 stars!! ) the room itself was old and definitely could use a remodel or an update. Not too shabby for a business stay hotel...
Location wise it is great but nothing really stood out.... The tiles in the bathroom seemed a lil old and icky.

I am giving it a 5 stars because it is a WIP as they are in the process of renovating but when that work is complete it will be most very fabulous.
Also giving 5 stars because we experienced excellent guest service from making reservations to check out time.
In September we had a group of 18 rooms that stayed at the hotel in for a conference at the HP Pavilion.
Perks:
* Location Location - walking distance to the HP Pavilion and restaurants
* Beds are cozy comfy, all the women slept well and to please all can be a challenge at times ; )
* Grill - has breakfast buffet it is a great deal for early or late risers.
* Afternoon complimentary appetizers & h'orderves on the Top Floor, I believe it is from 5pm for a couple of hours.
Most important was the service the staff provided, they were friendly and professional and most accomodating.
HIghlights!!! ***Estella in reservations*** and ***Virginia in Catering*** were ready, willing and able to assist they are most delightful wonderful ladies to work with a great asset to the Hilton family.
We hope to be back in the near future.
Totemo Arigato, Mucho Danka!
Thank you again H - Team !!
ps: also thank you Remi in reservations for your assistance and direction.
OK, I wasn't going to write a review because I thought maybe we were just there on an off night - there was a cheerleading convention going on (!!!) and it sucked our will to live. The noise was unbearable, the wait for the elevator was endless, and the kids were completely unsupervised. We got woken up at 6:51am by some cheerleader pounding on our door - wrong room, cheergirl.
Anywho, I'm giving the hotel the one-star, and here's why: they lied to us.
We spoke with one of the front desk staff the night of our stay and he apologized for all the troubles and told us he'd comp our breakfast. Generous offer, and we thanked him. The next morning, we did the room service thing as he had suggested (and it was over 45 minutes late and cold...), but when we checked out, the front desk gal assured us that the breakfast had been comped. No breakfast charge on the hotel bill.
Checked out my credit card statement online today. Guess what? I was charged for the breakfast, separate from the hotel room charge.
I'll never return to an establishment that lies to me.

so at first i thought "i love this hotel." it is gorgeous, the room was big, the bed was comfy. then i had their breakfast. the front desk said at check in there is complimentary breakfast. so we go to have breakfast, and no one lets us know how much it is. usually you wouldn't worry so much, you think, it's a hotel breakfast buffet, how much could that REALLY set you back? well, if you are a family of 4, (2 adults and 2 kids) it sets you back $60!!!!!! i have never paid that much for a breakfast buffet in my life, or ANY buffet! i mean, hello, it's a BUFFET!!!!!!!! and a horrible one... the potatoes tasted like they sat out overnight and then they microwaved them a few times and then got cold again. the front desk staff was not cooperative at all, even the manager. all he could say is he can't do anything about the charge. no sorry for the overly priced crap of a meal, nothing. i will NEVER stay at a Hilton again. the buffet and customer service is the worst i have ever had to stomach, literally.
if you want to make the hiltons richer by draining your own pocket, i recommend this hotel for you. ;)

Yes, I entered downtown SJ.
I came for a seminar at the hotel.
There's an underground parking garage off San Carlos.
I've been in the hotel/convention center before, for the past SJ Grand Prix so I was sorta familiar with the location.
The meeting hall was nice.
The continental breakfast was your standard flair. They had mini bottles of soda, carbonated water, muffin, bagel, toaster, coffee, juice, etc.
After the seminar they set up tables outside the catering area for lunch. It was a build your own sandwich, lame.
At the table, I reached for my linen napkin. It had white spots on one corner and in the other was a booger-like substance.
So boys and girls, if there's a lesson to be learned, swap your napkin with another place quick! I'm kidding!
At least my parking was comp'd. $18 is a rip.

My friend and I were visiting from San Diego to run the San Jose Half Marathon this past weekend and the Hilton was one of the host hotels located just one block away from the start line. Check in was supposed to be at 4pm, but they let us check in at around noon when we arrived and told us that all the runners in race would get a complimentary late check out at 3pm. Sweet! It's connected to the convention center, where the expo was, so that was super convenient and the rooms were nice. The valet guys were nice, but gave both my friends wrong directions. The gym/spa/pool was kinda small- the pool looks like it would only fit two people who wanted to swim laps and the Jacuzzi wasn't that hot. Overall, the stay here was enjoyable and very accommodating to runners in the race.

My girlfriends and I stayed here last night and though we really didn't spend too much time in the room, it was a fair sized room for three of us complete with mini-fridge, a cool stereo that you can plug your iPod into and $6 per hour internet access.
We had a lovely view of the freeway and large building across the street - god love pavement!
Thankfully the hotel is located within walking distance of some restaurants. My first time in San Jose and I was surprised by how DEAD it was there...it felt like a ghost town. Very strange.
It was well worth the mere $160 for the night in order to have a place to stay...however, I probably wouldn't stay here again next time. I hear there are a few nicer hotels in the area.

I just wrapped up a 5-night stay here in conjunction with a conference at the convention center. So, obviously, the hotel gets points for its location. The Hilton staff was friendly overall, in particular the bellhops.
I had a room with two double beds, and it was a fairly tight fit. But the desk was plenty big for my laptop and other work-related stuff, so that was cool.
The room overall, and the bathroom especially, just seemed a bit old and dated. The shower was TOO STRONG, believe it or not. I've stayed at two other Hiltons this year, and both had new shower heads which were perfect. This hotel still had an old water massage-style shower head, but the stream of water was too strong and trying to weaken it didn't work.
Overall, not as nice as other Hiltons I've stayed in. Nothing terribly good or bad about this hotel. I might stay here again, but I'll also consider trying some of the other hotels nearby.

Its ok. I'm going to Fresno in a few weeks so I'm sure this is going to feel like a palace. I will say that the room is clean, nice, fairly large. The bathroom could use some upgrading. My room is on the same level as the pool. In most cases it would be good to have a room over looking the pool, but any and everyone in the pool can look right into my room. The fitness room is small but adequate.
the staff has been nothing but nice. Since there's a large group of us here we're getting free breakfast every morning. The waiter even gave us to go coffee cups which was really nice.
The hotel is in a great location. We're walking to our training class everyday. Its close to a ton of restaurants, the Light Rail, a movie theater and the museums.
I'd stay here again.
I found the is place to have it all!! I worked a hairshow out here and they put us up in a nice room that had everything that gets me pumped about a hotel. I had the most amazing water pressure in the shower, plenty of shower caps, soaps and a sewing kit. I always has something on TV to watch and the TV was in the middle of the room, where I prefer it. The lobby has a restaurant with great drinks and nice, however, slow service. I like how The Hilton is connected to the Convention Center and there is a Starbucks they share. Very convenient!! The parking level is also easy to access, a bit pricey, but I feel safe. The location of this place is fantastic, being plopped right in the downtown, walkable to many a great dining and night life experience!! And the staff was just sweet and accommodating as hell!!

Nice place. Ask for a room on the 17th or 18th floor which have wonderful floor to ceiling windows.

Nice clean Hilton hotel. I had no problems with two week long stays.
As somebody else mentioned, get the 17th or 18th floor. They're the nicest rooms (executive).
The restaurant is decent as well, but a tad pricey. I'd go out to eat.

3 stars for being a hilton in a good location. They are right next to the convention center and within walking distant with a ton of restaurants. But unfortunately, nothing really special about this location. The service was just par and the pricing was sky high. Sorry peeps.....
