I had not been for quite some time. I am so glad I returned. The venue is much improved and the team is doing quite well. I am so happy I can finally enjoy a beer in my seat. Great family atmosphere at the game. I am a die hard soccer fan but even casual fans will have a great time at an Earthquakes game. I am quite excited about the new stadium and this one will work fine until it is built. I do hope that is soon though.

My first professional soccer game and it was so much fun! The excitement of the cheering squad that kept their chants going the entire 90 minutes. My company actually sponsors the team so I was very fortunate to score really good seats. Don't expect people scoring left and right but when they do the crowd goes wild.

Being a 1906 Ultra is the best way to experience an Earthquakes game. Standing cheering and supporting for 90+ minutes is just plain awesome!  Go Earthquakes!!!

This was my first professional soccer game I've been to.

The games are actually rather entertaining, despite being a seasonal soccer fan (World cup anyone?).  The hard-core fan section have guys who chant the ENTIRE GAME.  You think they would sober up by half-time, but they just keep on going!  It keeps things interesting, though it is hard to sustain a good cheer with the stadium.

The Santa Clara soccer stadium is actually pretty nice and easy to view the field from all the seats.

Food at the games is good too.  We enjoy the Korean bbq taco truck, and there is Corona and even Gordon Biersch available for drinks.

Unfortunately, our team is NOT strong this year and can sometimes be painful to watch, but gotta stick by your team!

I have wanted to go to a Major League Soccer event for a long time.  I just moved to San Jose and I was so excited there was a MLS team here.  I went to the SJ v. NYC game last Saturday and it was so much fun.  I had such a great time.

I know there is a bias against soccer in the US.  I've heard a number of people say that it's boring and low-scoring.  Well, the low-scoring part is true, but I think it's incredibly exciting.  The benefits of soccer is that it's always moving.  The ball is always in motion and play moves from one side of the field to the other very quickly.  It's very thrilling because the pace of the game can change at any moment.  It also can be very violent.  On Saturday, there were a number of guys knocked to the ground for several seconds after sliding or flipping over the ball.  There are a number of penalties, but the ball goes back into play fairly quickly.  There were two yellow cards on Saturday, also.  The matches are also fairly short.  It's two 45 minute halves with a half-time of about 20 minutes.  I think it's the most exciting 2 hours you can have.

The game on Saturday was a big one and was at Stanford Stadium.  I'm excited to go to a game at the Santa Clara stadium.  The Stanford Stadium was really fun and there was a nice fireworks show afterwards.

I can't wait to go to another game!

My wife and I took advantage of a deal and went on July 4th for the game and fireworks afterward. The quality of the soccer was not quite what you see watching other international soccer leagues, but it was entertaining and fun... and the fireworks were great. We'll probably go again sometime, but we'll avoid any lines for food trucks that offered deals. That was 40 minutes wasted, and we didn't even get any food since the deal expired when the game started!!

At last, I've found a Bay Area team to root for.

I couldn't, in good conscience, root for the Giants, Raiders or 49ers as my allegiances lie with my hometown teams (go Padres & Chargers!) BUT, SD was missing something it sorely needs: an MLS team. Sure, they had the occasional friendly with Mexico vs. another national team, but that's it.

Before moving up to NorCal, my brother (a huge soccer nut), suggested I check out a Quakes game. So, I decided to buy a ticket at midfield for their home opener.  Fast forward to now, I plunked down some dough for a mini-plan to see them play the L.A. Galaxy, the NY Red Bulls and more. This team has made a fan out of me, and I'll tell you why.

First up, the ticket prices are very wallet-friendly. For $50, you can sit at midfield with a great view of the action, or you can pay as little as $20 and sit in the Supporters section along with the 1906 Ultras, San Jose's homegrown soccer hooligans. And for the families out there, there's a kid-friendly family section as well.

Soccer, as a sport, may not seem like much fun if you've only seen it on TV. For those people, I suggest you actually go to a game. The team has a lot of talent on its roster, including Golden Boot winner Chris Wondolowski. You can definitely get behind it when the crowd starts chanting "let's go Earthquakes, let's go!"

Buck Shaw Stadium, as a venue, is alright. Sure, it's not the soccer mecca that Wembley Stadium is, but it works for the team. Concessions range from your standard bugers, dogs, nachos and beer to food trucks serving up Indian fare and cupcakes, there's something everyone can dig on. For the health-conscious, they even have a "farmers' market" section where you can pick up fruit, veggies and smoothies too.

So, not only are the Quakes, as a team, a lot of fun to watch, the organization is truly fan-friendly. They run frequent promotions (I got a free t-shirt at the home opener) and there are a LOT of perks to buying a season ticket or a mini-plan.

The world's game is playing in our own backyard...and when you check out a Quakes' game, it's easy to see why.  GO QUAKES!

I went to the July 2nd game vs NY Red Bulls at Stanford Stadium. I'll keep it short, nothing beats going to a live game. From talking with complete strangers to chanting with the half-naked supporters' section half a stadium away, it can't be beat.

Mark my words, MLS gonna be BIG!

If you are into soccer this is the place to be in the Bay Area.  It's so much fun...there are bouncy houses for the kids and free stuff and friendly staff.  The price is right (cannot think of too many other sports that have this ticket price) and it really does feel like a community.  They do a lot for the kids in the area.

That being said, I just couldn't get into it.  I've made it a point (since the sadness of returning from my TRUE home...NYC) to get into the local sports in SJ and spend time supporting local things.  I got a greed deal on these tickets but really couldn't get into the hype.  I cannot see myself going again.

HELLA ANNOYING FOR Santa Clara Uni STUDENTS TRYING TO FIND PARKING!!!

BUT A HELLA GOOD TIME FOR A FAN! The 'fan section' could use a little more 'oomph', but they try!

Great atmosphere and in a small stadium, so it feels like family! The last game I went to was a New England Revs vs Earthquakes (San Jose won!!!). Bring your kids, your friends! Check it out, we have a fun team.

The Quakes are on their way to Denver tonight to play in the conference championships.  What  a great 2010 season!

Season tickets cost $240-800 (extra for VIP) .  I have two seats on the halfway line, parking for every game (17), access to playoff tickets, 20% off merchandise, and an end of season party with all the players.  Ticket prices are the same for 2011 and there will be19 games after the league expansion.

This simply has to be the best value for your sporting dollar in the Bay Area.  Sure the ground is 'cozy' but you'll make friends with your neighbors very quickly.

5 stars for signing on a cute Spaniard over the summer. I've become an instant fan.

-1 star because MLS & soccer culture here in general will never be as grand as those of Europe.

I started following soccer during the 2006 World Cup and have been addicted ever since. I like watching games in English, so it's hard to find any games with my basic cable status outside of the World Cup or Euro Cup. So, I was anxious when my husband told me he got tickets to a SJ Earthquakes game. I had never BEEN to a professional soccer game. I have to say, I was very pleasantly surprised. The game was fun to watch and very entertaining. Just as much drama as a regular old World Cup game, minus the celebrities. I really had a lot of fun.

The only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5? Too many kids and too many food vendors. It's like there was every little league soccer player and their families were there. Honestly, I'm a teacher and I don't want to see that concentration of kids outside of work. Plus, the dads were teaching their kids these snarky comments to shout out the the opposing team. I may be a bit of a prude, but it bothers me to hear a 4 year old shout, "Go suck it!" to the opposing soccer team. Maybe it's just me? Plus, there's ice cream and cracker jack and churro vendors walking in front of us like every 30 seconds. Give it a rest! Isn't this country obese enough as it is that we can't take an hour break from eating? Jesus!

Anyway, it was a good time regardless and we'll definitely be back to watch another fun-filled game of San Jose Earthquakes!!

Can't drink a beer on the stands, what the heck!, sure takes the fun of conversation and laughs, fun at the stadium unlike other stadiums like Giants or A's. The team is out of Playoff this year, I go to all there games, and just twice did they all try to win, you can see the fear and no spirit in these current roster of players that is why they just traded three players.

We need more communication at the stadium, easier parking and CHEAPER PRICES for SNACKS!

It is great to have a local MLS team, but without a proper stadium it is hard for me to become a diehard. I recently went to Seattle and witnessed the excitement around the Sounders. If we can get that type of energy into San Jose then I will update my rating.

Hooray for the Quakes!  We have been season ticket holders since their earlier incarnation, so have experienced the highs of a winning team and are currently crawling out of the troughs.

Soccer, despite being the world's most popular sport, has never really gained a strong foothold in this country.   The good news for fans is that you can get to know the players and the management, find free parking near the stadium, not be stampeded in the process, and yet view some incredible soccer!

Nice to have a local place to go see my Sounders play when they're in town, but the Earthquakes need a proper pitch.  Buck Shaw is a nice practice stadium, but after the atmosphere in Qwest Field the last two seasons I was sorely disappointed walking into the match here.  That and the fact that their ultras call themselves... "Ultras."  It was the equivalent of walking into a double-A baseball park.  Fun, but not first class.

As far as concessions, prices are decent, food variety is ok and the BBQ sandwiches are great.  Beer selection is pretty good and prices aren't outrageous.  With open space to walk around it was a good place to take our 3-year old.

All-in-all I'd say the Quakes at Buck Shaw rate a "meh."  If they ever actually build their new stadium they might bump up to a so-so.

Lol. Where to start? Cute ground. But, listen, you really need to learn to segregate in football when you invite teams from other parts of the world to play at your little place. You invited Tottenham, and that's fine as your "sister" club, except that every idiot then thinks it would be a great idea to wear their Arsenal, Chelsea or whatever the heck else shirt to the ground, or erect placards that say such things as "Anyone but Tottenham" - how did he even get in with it?  - combine that with alcohol, dumb soccer mums and die hard fans from England, and it was just a bit of a nightmare really.

The quakes are starting to become the championship team we have come to expect. With the signing on a Brazilian Nation Team member Giovanni the team is better than ever. The stadium is a little small but there isn't a bad seat in the house. The fan clubs create an amazing atmosphere unlike any other sports game.
