Invisalign & Vivera Treatments
Approximately one year ago, I was treated by Dr. Farah Sefidvash with an Invisalign top liner. After such a wonderful experience and stunning results (one year treatment or so of liners), I continued with the post-Invisalign Vivera Retainers. Vivera provides patients with custom-made orthodontic retainers which can maintain one's shining smile post-Invisalign treatment. I know there are many other positive features of Vivera liners, however, Dr. Farah knows them all!!!! Currently, I am looking into continuing the Vivera retainer process after my 5th liner. I wear the retainer each night and sometimes during the day. Under the care and management of Dr. Farah, the Vivera liners are mailed directly to one's house for optimal convenience and time efficiency. This process eliminates travel time and can smoothly work into one's busy work/school/life schedule. Amazingly, she can assess one's progress and make adjustments, if needed, during the Vivera process in her SF office. What I've liked most about my Vivera experience is that just when you think it may be time for a new liner- one appears via FedEx or UPS right at your doorstep ready to be popped in! How convenient! Vivera liners are comfortable to wear and easy to insert/take out of one's mouth. Furthermore, Vivera's sequential treatment holds one's teeth in place. My personal before and after mouth photo's are amazing! These pictures speak volumes about her Invisalign and Vivera treatments.
In continuation, I have received numerous calls from her dental staff checking in and asking if I had any questions about my dental treatment plan and goals. Also, her lovely staff has also called to remind me of future appointments as well as when I need to be fitted for my new Invisalign/Vivera liner. I feel so comfortable as a patient knowing that both Dr. Farah and her professional team will keep track of my needs without having to remind myself. In other words, I can happily rely on her to manage my oral care.
One feature of Dr. Farah Sefidvash's dental office that stands out from the rest is her top-notch dental office technology, modern website, online email appointment request option, and her text message appointment reminders. These factors show that a patient's oral health is a top priority for Dr. Farah. How professional and technologically savvy!
From working and talking with Dr. Farah it is clear that she is on the cutting edge of technology in regard to one's oral health, cosmetic procedures, and her overall dental knowledge. Most importantly, it's obvious Dr. Farah takes a keen interest in current research and practices of dental care. I can see it's her passion! Again, she simply is a magical dentist!
Thank you SF's Gentle Dental Care - you've changed my smile! -

When I went here Dr. Farah filled 4 cavities and said I had 11 in total. My insurance ran out within something like 2 visits, $1400. She said I might need a root canal, I'm young and had really good dentistry up till then.
I started getting suspicious so I went for a second opinion. I did not have 7 more cavities, I had something like 2. My new dentist had to file some of Dr. Farah's work, because it had jagged edges and was too high.
I tried to get my ex-rays and file notes from them and they said I would have to pay $70 for them, even though they had charged me for them already. If you go here, get a second opinion before you do anything major. -

I fully agree with Judith M.'s review. Being a dental phobic by default myself, I found the best and most gentlest dental care ever at Dr. Farah Sefidvash's office.
Dr. Sefidvash and her assistant are an awesome team and excellent technicians - professional, knowledgeable, thorough, and kind. Everything is being explained in detail, honest and to the point, the most appropriate and helpful procedure is being chosen upon discussion with the patient, and carried out with the utmost care and consideration of the patient's fears and pain level (yes, I do get extra laughing gas and local anesthesia upon request).
You want to know just how good they are? Well, I recently moved to New Orleans but I would and will travel to SF in a heartbeat if I need anything dental done. There you have it. Now go and see for yourself. It'll be the best choice you have ever made. -

Dr. Farah is a goddess. Shes kind and smart, and explains dental issues in a way you can understand. She didn't beat me up for not flossing, but talked me through the risks in a reasonable way.
The facility is beautiful! Very clean and modern but still small and warm. Her assistant was also very nice and helpful. I would recommend Dr. Farrah to anyone who has any dental anxiety or fears. I've had some really bad experiences and she took time to understand my issues and really listen.
One drag: No goodie bag! No extra floss, threaders, or toothbrush. C'mon, you need a goodie bag after having a tough appointment! -

DENTIST: not very gentle in my opinion!
PRICE: I think she is way way way over priced
PARKING: street parking hard to find
TRANSFERRING FILMS: cost $75 to get your x-rays here photocopied for your new dentist
MY STORY: I had a REALLY bad experience here. First of all, I have gone to the dentist every six months since I was a little kid. Six months prior to going to Gentle Dental, I had seen my fancy LA Westwood dentist who given me a clean bill of health. Then when I went to Gentle Dental I was told with a very fancy computer printout that: I'd need a $1000 crown, $3000 worth of cavities filled and redone, and a new $900 bite guard made of rigid plastic!
After getting a very painful $1000 crown (including an episode where the dentist rudely and painfully ripped an earbud earphone out of my ear when I had my eyes squeezed tightly closed while she was drilling and couldn't see that she was talking to me), I decided to go back to my childhood dentist who my entire family sees.
There at my new family dentist, I was told by 2 independent dentists that the work that I got done at Gentle Dental was unnecessary and that I didn't have any work that actually needed to be done and that my mouth guard was perfectly fine!!
Also, my friend went here cuz she saw a review on-line. The dentist accidentally cut the outside of her lip while putting in a crown and didn't tell her or even apologize when she showed her a mirror to check out her new bite and she noticed blood coming down her face. -

I (almost) saw this dentist over two years ago. I have discovered yelp reviews only recently and I feel I have to warn the unknowing. It had been over six months since I had seen a dentist and I wanted my teeth cleaned.
I went with my previous x-rays and talked with Dr. Farah Sefidvash. She claimed I would need a deep cleaning and root planing. This procedure is very expensive (about $1300, maybe more) and I had no dental insurance. I asked if she would just do a regular cleaning for the time being. She absolutely refused. When I asked her rationale she claimed that a regular cleaning not only wouldn't help, but would actually make it worse by pushing things into my gums. I knew immediately it wasn't true.
I'm not a dentist but I do know that when your teeth are cleaned that plaque material is removed from your mouth. I have seen many dentists and none of them agree with this either. They did agree I should have the deep cleaning when I can.
In my opinion Dr. Farah Sefidvash is out for the bucks primarily and if she can help somebody as a sideline then so be it. -

The doc is a real pro. Our introduction began on the wrong side of the tracks, with my chompers having several areas of "needs improvement." Several fillings later and a lesson on proper brushing, I was sold that this woman not only knew what she was doing, but had the touch needed to keep me from being freaked out about each visit to the chair. Proud to say that since then, the report card has been stellar and we spend most of our time swapping stories about great vacation destinations, local digs and the good side of life. I dont live in the Marina but the trip is well worth the effort. Thanks for the great work Doc! Veronica too!

I have been a patient of Dr. Sefidvash for several years and have never had the thought of going to another dentist, which is something I have had to do at one time or another years and years ago. Not only, in my opinion, is Dr. Sefidvash a very good dentist, she is a genuinely friendly and outgoing person; so is her dental technician, Veronica. She is genuinely interested in making sure I have the best dental health possible. I have never thought that she has suggested services that are not necessary so that she could bring in more money. I would recommend her to anyone.

My dental experience was an absolute disaster. The receptionist/dental assistant was kinder and more helpful than the actual dentist. Dr. Farah Sefidvash virtually destroyed my mouth and after visiting another dentist they couldn't even believe the botched up work that was done. She was cold and uninviting and was rude throughout my appointment. At one point she tried to make me help her because her dental assistant left to go answer the phone. When I didn't understand what she was asking me to do she grew impatient and told me that I needed to "focus." If you care about your mouth at all you will not visit this dentist!

I saw this dentist after being overseas. I was recommended to have "ultra cleaning". Mid way through they found a "serious cavity." After 7 appointments and over $2K beyond the annual of 3K that my insurance covered, the work was done. So I thought.
One of the fillings fell out after 3 years. The dentist I saw to have this cleaned up noted that the work wasnt done properly. I called Dr. Sefivash's office to obtain my records. They said that they wouldnt do anything until I returned to their office in person, that I had an unpaid bill of $1,000, and that they wouldnt release records until I paid in full.
This is unethical and illegal. Also, there's no such thing as an "ultra deep cleaning". Who knows what I paid for, or what this dentist did, but they got a load of my cash and I got a load of further dental work.
Stay away. I'd put down negative stars on this one if I could.Comment from Farah S. of San Francisco's Gentle Dental Care 7/1/2009

Dr. Farah is indeed a hottie, as is her assistant Veronica. I found Dr. Farah in an ad in the Guardian years ago and have been very happy. Parking is a problem in the neighborhood, and that is the only pitfall. Dr. Farah is kind, remembers everything, explains everything and isn't shy about giving the laughing gas for those terrible root canals....

I needed a dentist after 4 years of neglect. She was professional and courteous and has a great selection of magazines (including Hemmings Classic Car.) I was nervous about trying out a new dentist since moving here 5 years ago but Dr. Farah's awesome and oh-so gentle! I recommended my girlfriend and she loves her too! The office is very clean and the equipment is new and shiny; nothing creepy or outdated a la "Little Shop of Horrors."
