I heart Marriott...I heart the down feather pillows, the white linens and the I heart that most Marriott smells the same. Most of my great vacation memories happens at Marriott so THANKIE YOU Marriott for being a big part o fmy life!
I booked this hotel as a day-vacation back in May to get away for the weekend with my boyfriend. Upon arrival, of course i had to do my "hotel ritual"...research the hell out this hotel and the surrounding areas. This hotel reallie impressed me, with their grand lobby, beautiful pools and great views of downtown SD and the Marina.
Our room was on a higher level and had a private balcony that overlooks downtown SD and part of the Marina....just beautiful at night! Our king sized bed was out of this world comfortable =). The hotel had a water taxi to takes their guests to Coronado Island for a small fee.
My only complain about this hotel is not the hotel itself but the noise from the streets below....the train is so close to this hotel that you can hear it all hours of the day and night....that to me is supser annoying when i am trying to sleep or just relax. Good thing I was only there for one night! I can't take any points away from the Marriott because of the train. Its just a great location and great hotel both for leisure and for business. I would stay here again.
My momma always told me to be nice and especially nice to secretaries, receptionists, waiters/waitresses, etc. etc.
So me and my boyfriend checked into this hotel and were friendly and cordial with our check-in lady. Tell me why we got a huge room with the best view of DT San Diego!?
His co-workers checked-in before us and had this dinky room at the same rate. We had a corner room and huge windows.
So be nice people! Don't walk up at check-in looking like you're pissed off, say thank you and please, don't have too many requests. You'll get the room you want the first time around.
Other than that the hotel was fine. It's huge! lots of walking, different towers and such. The room itself wasn't like a modern, minimalist type room but it was clean and well-taken care of.
This hotel is very nice from the outside and the lobby is very fancy as well.
The standard rooms are a little too simple and very... Standard.
Very much a regular Vegas room, just in San Diego.
The best part of this hotel is the ocean view! it is really priceless!
Other than that, service is hit & miss.
Food at the downstairs restaurant was great and they even secured my suitcase while eating.
Valet parking were nice, let me keep my car at the front for 2 hours against all rules.
Although parking lot is confusing.
Did not try the pool or spa b/c lack of time
Price: I would not know, I stayed for free.
Random: 3 Big glass water dispensers with ice lemon water, cucumber water & plain water, all placed in the front of the lobby.
Very refreshing and a great idea.
Bottom line:
If you're in SD for convention, business or travel (and you have the budget) you can't go wrong with this hotel.
Yalla Bye.
Not the greatest place, but decent.
Stayed here back in July when my bf Geo R. and I went to Comic-Con for the first time. The location was literally across the airport, but since we arrived pretty late, we got the free shuttle to get us. There are two towers within this hotel and some parking, but luckily we did not have to worry about parking. Got dropped off at the main tower and we were told that we were actually staying at the other tower. The lady told us that we can either walk for a couple of minutes or wait and take the shuttle to get there. Mind you, I was tired, hot, cranky, and it was pretty late. But we decided to walk anyway. It wasn't that bad, but still. The tower could have been a little bit more closer to the main tower, or at least right next to it.
You can tell that they put more work into the main tower. They had free internet with several nice computers along with a flat screen tv in the main lobby and the overall ambiance was inviting. When we got to our tower, it was not as fancy, no free computers, and not as nice. Our room was simple, with all the amenities we needed. King size bed, television, closet space, and a decently sized bathroom just for the two of us. There was even a balcony that looked over the water with two patio chairs, which was nice. I definitely double checked how clean our room was BECAUSE YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT COULD BE BUILDING UP OR LIVING IN YOUR ROOM, but it was decent for a three day stay.
Now your probably wondering why I didn't rate the hotel a bit higher since the review sounds pretty good so far. During our stay, WE HEARD PEOPLE HAVING SEX. And it wasn't like a mumbling moaning sound that was being blocked by thick walls. It was like HD clear because the walls were so damn thin! And they weren't just going at it for a couple of minutes. Pretty much half an hour to 45 minutes of loud, crazy sex. I'm pretty much sure the entire tower heard them lol.
Other than that, the hotel is pretty decent. Maybe if they worked on getting thicker walls or if we upgraded to the main tower because their walls are probably thicker, then I would have given this place at least 4 stars.
Pretty nice hotel near the gas lamp and marina. The pool area is really nice and they have Roy's in the hotel along with STARBUCKS! That gets an extra star by itself! Now, we stayed in the older tower and at night there were loud trains going by, which woke us up each time. Try and ask for the newer tower.
The hotel has a decent breakfast buffet and an Irish Pub with killer Fish and Chips. At night on Saturday, they set up a screen overlooking the pool that plays movies for kids. Very kid friendly hotel.
Parking is expensive and far here. $22 self and $32 for Valet. Wifi is also 13/day. It all adds up! Overall, I'd stay here again just because it's close to the marina (summers they have concerts and fireworks off the water) and near gaslamp district. Walk up towards 5th and you're right there. Also, check out the SunDay party at Hard Rock!

A nice Marriot!
Stayed in an ocean view room on a high floor, so I had no issues with noise some guests complained of. The room was clean and comfortable with a large spacious balcony. Note: not all of the rooms have balcony's, so ask in advance if this is important to you.
The pool bar is wonderful, as is the lounge in the north tower. They have a bar and mini cigar shop that sells some nice cigars, including Opus X's @ 100.00 a pop. I did partake in a nice Opus, and added a 20 year tawny port to the mix. Talk about relaxing.
The hotel is laid out very odd. It is easy to get lost. The signage is terrible and I wasted a lot of time just trying to get somewhere in the resort. Ultimately, I would come back here in a heartbeat.

Great location, nice accommodations.
Parking: Pricey, but for motorcycles it's free! The parking service monitors are also sticklers to time limits, I think I exceeded the one-hour minimum by 2 minutes and was charged for the next hour!
Atmosphere: Clean, Starbucks is downstairs adjacent to the lobby. Roy's is also here for some great cuisine! Elevators can also be a pain for waiting time (sometimes as long as 5 minutes), especially during peak usage hours and these long waits contribute to full cars fringing on the peak of weight limitations (i.e. Sunday before check-out time), excitement like this isn't needed especially when the car shakes uncontrollably like an old lady with Parkinson's prior to hitting each floor! Bottom line: Five elevators are not sufficient to serve 25 floors! Business conference? Plan accordingly for the long elevator waits!
Service: Friendly and over-accommodating. Bellhop ignored the fact that we're SD natives and continued to carry on about the local hot spots. Next time: tip less!
Accommodations: Previous guests' hairs should not be found in a clean bathroom. Great view from the harbor side room! AC unit was finicky, but at least the beds were comfy. Sheets on full-size bed were undersized and kept slipping off the mattress which was annoying. Easy access to the Convention Center though! No free wi-fi in the rooms! A coworker of ours was also staying during a business convention and was riddled with bites after he found out his bed was infested with bed-bugs. Marriott stepped in and switched his room, called an exterminator, and also gave him a gift basket full of alcohol, hopefully Cortisone was included too! Hotel seems to be falling apart, the escalator to the meeting rooms was broken and not working upon check-in, walls in room were also in rough shape.

The Marriott Hotel & Marina is located at the south end of the Gaslamp district in San Diego, directly adjacent to the San Diego Convention center. It is a very large hotel with two towers of guestrooms. You are within walking distance to the convention center, Petco Park (where the San Diego Padres play), and the Gaslamp district.
Overall, this place is huge. There are seating areas with a lounge and Starbucks off of the main lobby area. There is a huge pool area with an outdoor bar. Several shops selling necessities, nick knacks, and limited boutique type stuff.
The standard guest room was nothing special in my option. It seemed outdated so if you are looking for a new room, a standard here may not be it. The linens were decent here.
I cannot comment about the staff since I did not interact with them. The valet area for this size of hotel is small but the staff work as efficient as possible.
One caveat about this place is that it gets really crowded. There was not a moment when the pool was not packed or when the valet was not packed. The elevators were very slow from the lobby and from your floor so prepare to wait.
The Marriott Hotel & Marina is a decent hotel but just know you will be sharing it with a ton of other people.
One of the convention center area monster hotels in downtown san diego. I garner from the other reviews that this at one point was an "intercontinental" and that might account for the above average design. Has it's own convention center inside. Also has a pretty decent looking pool area and a Roy's attached to the back. Also has a Starbucks that is literally bonkers in the morning when there is a convention in progress- I saw someone wait in line for a half hour plus.
Probably the easiest hotel to find in San Diego coming from La "exit front street and drive to the end" you will be in the valet lane of this Marriott. That's pretty cool, actually.

When I arrived around 5PM check in was busy but we didn't wait long to be checked in. The woman at the desk was helpful with all of our questions about the bars, pool, parking, etc. We got to our room which was a nice size, clean, didn't smell weird or anything. The restroom was clean although the towels were really rough (esp for a 4 star hotel!) The view from the balcony was amazing. It was a "city view" but since the building curves we also had a great view of the marina off to the side. We were on the 22nd floor of the North tower. I am not sure why people have been complaining about slow elevators or things being really far away. I was expecting the worst after reading some reviews about how the hugeness of the hotel was a detriment, but I didn't experience any of that. The only thing is the trains are REALLY loud in the middle of the night. We left our balcony door open because it was so nice out, so it may have been better if we had closed it... but not that big of a deal. The pool was beautiful and clean and we had a waitress to bring us food and drinks poolside. We self parked for the 2 nights we stayed and paid $22 per 24 hours. People complaining about it being far away are obviously very high maintenance and should just suck it up and valet for about $10 more.
We left our car at the hotel all day and walked everywhere since the location was so great. We were right on the marina docks and just next to the Gaslamp district which was great for restaurants. Seaport village is also just next door but was a big let-down, very touristy and full of junky shops and terrible food. We grabbed a bike taxi to take us back to the Gaslamp where we got sushi and drinks.
Hotel bars and shops are super overpriced so avoid them if you can. There's a Ralph's grocery store a few blocks away to get snacks and drinks. Ask for a map at check in, it was a life saver. The Starbucks has $1 coffee refills and if you keep your receipt you can get a medium drink for just $3 after 2:00PM.
I would totally stay here again with another Priceline $99/night. This hotel is definitely 3.5 stars, not 4 though.
This hotel was in a great location, overlooking the marina and just blocks from the gaslamp quarter. Many restaurants/shops/pubs were just in walking distance.
The lobby of the hotel was nice. The rooms were nice and clean, but a bit small and oddly shaped. The walls were also PAPER THIN. You could basically hear everything from inside the room and in the hallway. I think during our last night in all I could hear coming from outside was, "Wooo, CHUG CHUG CHUG CHUG!" It was 2 am on a Saturday night. There's also a train or trolley that goes by about every half hour that is also LOUD.
The hotel also has a Starbucks located in the South Tower, but they're only open until 11 am! WHY?

big corporate style hotel "adjacent" to the convention center. had a very nice room in the south tower which was convenient to walk next door to the convention. double bedded room on the city side that looked across to the downtown. loved the natural light. would have opened the windows except that it was 90 degrees out and the noise from the conv. center rooftop machinery was pretty noisy. while i did hear the famous train noise - the latest i heard it was around 10:45 pm. the A/C worked just great. the beds pretty comfy although they did kinda sink in the middle of the bed and it was a bit odd as it felt kinda crunchy under the sheets and soft top. pillows, as stated by others, were lovely. housekeeping was excellent and very pleasant. so were the bell staff, pub staff and, actually, everyone i came across!
got to the pool once and was somewhat disappointed. there are two pools, one supposed to be for adults and one for kiddies. the adult pool was full of screaming kids. also, water looked pretty murky
( yuck), so i did one quick swim back and forth and that was it. i did like that there were shady places to hang out on the pool patio at all hours since it was really super hot. would have loved to try out roy's but ran out of time!
there is a ralphs just down the street and horton plaza a 3 block walk. i also loved that the hotel is along the waterfront walking trail and 5 minutes from seaport village which mostly has schlocky shops that i don't know how they stay in business! forgot how wonerful san diego is. will have to go back soon. so much to see and do.
If you enjoy hearing a blaring train horn.. and I mean blaaaring... at 2am.. 3am.. and other random times.. then make sure to request a room in the North Tower.
We found a good rate (thank goodness!) on Priceline. The rooms we had normally go for $300-400 per night. We lucked out with about $1 something each night. The views are beautiful, but a few really low marks.
Minus 1 star for the odd wet floor beneath the bathroom sink. I didn't see a leak from the above sink, so unless it was a lot of pee, very sketchy.
Minus 1 star for the horrible train at night! Seriously.. the conductor must hate people who stay at this hotel. He would literally lay on this horn as if a was stopped in front of him. We were also 20 floors up and it felt like we were on the 1st floor and the window was open.
Parking overnight is $22. Seems pricey, but it's a good location. Everything is walkable. Petco Park is about 2 blocks, Gas Lamp District/Downtown is right across the street, the Marina Green and some cool restaurants are located just behind the hotel.
Another disturbing minus: my friend's room had some urine and other items left on the toilet for their discovery.
Our room wasn't bad at all minus the weird wet floor outside the bathroom.
The hotel has a great little store on the lobby level that serves up some essential travel items in case you forget to pack them. It's also connected to the convention center, so lots of hustle and bustle throughout the day and night.
If you need to stay here, get a room in the South Tower facing completely towards the marina if possible.. It doesn't appear this place has double pane windows no matter how high up you are.

I didn't hear the hallway or room next door. I think I spent most of my time watching cable. I'm sure this looked better when it was an Intercontinental. Its a great location if you're going to a convention. My parents spent most of the time on the small balcony, looking out towards the bay.
The Gaslamp Quarter is within waking distance. The pillows are always fluffy. The room was clean and comfortable. We didn't use the fitness canter or pool. When was walked around the perimeter, we got lost by the convention center.

During Comic-Con International, my sisters love to get a hotel room over the weekend in order to spare the pain of driving around downtown and finding parking during the event (kind of like a mini-vacation of some sort). The idea came a few years ago and it's been our own little tradition for the last six years. And the one hotel we will fight to get a room is the Marriott.
The rooms are always nice and comfortable and you can either get a room with the marina view or the city view (I can go for either... both are nice). Room service is always fast and just plain great. But my favorite thing about the Marriott are the restaurants.. the one we go to is LC's for breakfast.. delicious!
I don't remember ever experiencing noise issues when in the rooms... the fluffy pillows (and being really tired from walking everywhere) are more than enough to knock me out. Just as long as you don't open that $4 bottle of water in your room, you'll have a great experience.

We stayed here 4 nights while my husband attended a conference. The carpets needed cleaning and the bed need replacing. The mattress is quite old, and has been topped with a thick matress topper, which seemed rather broken down. The thickness meant that the sheets did not stay on very well.
They asked us if we wanted foam pillows when we arrived - for the allergic. Nice touch, but the room exacerbated by allergies anyway. I then discovered that they allow animals in the rooms, so I am guessing there was a dog here recently.
Internet was $13 a night. If you want to use a printer, they dont have a complimentary computer like every other hotel I have stayed in recently. You have to pay $7 for 15 minutes.
I feel like this hotel knows it will always have a steady stream of people coming for conventions and doesnt work too hard for the repeat customer.
We stayed 2 nights before hand at the Hilton across the street. It was much nicer.

This was a great place for a conference. We had lunch al fresco overlooking the marina under tents...and also cocktail receptions...the food catered was really good (a few people teased me some about the enormous amount of food I eat in one sitting; but I get that all the time)...it was nice to get out to the fresh air and sunshine between meetings in dark rooms with PowerPoint presentations. I just love watching sailboats...as I did all the time in my San Francisco flat with my view of the GG bridge, mountains, and bay...
They also served something very interesting on one of the days...fresh watermelon with a Mexican spicy salty powder....I'd never seen it before...but I was thrilled in discovering that another culture eats it this way too as Vietnamese do. The things you learn by going to meetings (other than the meeting topic)! hehe...

Extremely well appointed hotel from the lobby to the North Tower bar on the way to the elevators. Rooms on the spacious side, well appointed and comfortable.
My only complaint is that the fitness center totally sucks. What makes it even suckier is its incongruity with the rest of the place. I was so looking forward to a well appointed gym with great views. Instead, its this rather makeshift room only accessible by going out of the hotel at the 4th floor of the South Tower on the way to the Convention Center. I was so looking forward to my workout after a long day of work and ended up being so disappointed. Arrrgh!

I really enjoyed staying at this Marriott.
Pros:
The location is excellent. It is next to the marina and within walking distance to the convention center, Seaport village, restaurants, Gas lamp Dist, shopping mall, supermarkets, banks, transportation, etc.
Behind the Marriott is a biking/ walking path along the seawall.
Marriott provides a shuttle( for a fee) to Coronado Island.
Pool area has a lovely tropical themed setting. Waterfalls, salt water pools, koi ponds, tiki huts, rock sauna, and fire pits, are some of the goodies guests enjoy during their stay.
Rooms are clean and well sized
Rooms have amazing views of the city, the marina and bay, or both.
Staff is friendly and helpful.
Feather beds...soft and comfy.
Good water pressure.
Cigar bar
bike rentals
Cons:
A train stop in front of this Marriott causes guests to awaken in the middle of the night...bring ear plugs if given a city view room. If you face the marina, no worry, no noise.
The location is so easily accessible that sometimes strange homeless people make use of the pool area. None of the gates lock.
The Marriott needs to step up their security. My roommate was enjoying the spa alone when a homeless guy ( and his odd possession's) joined her. He was aggressive enough to startle her. She let management know of the incident. Be very careful if you are alone or have kids.
Hotel is really large so be prepared for crowded facilities.

to add to what JS said...this place was exactly what we were looking for: an ocean front hotel, not too pretentious, with good views, and decent prices. granted, we got an employee discount for about $115/night, this place was so worth it.
parking was too expensive - shouldn't it be FREE for guests? the hotel is huge - it's used for conventions, large meetings, so a lot of walking is involved.
i loved how quick the service was - we got a comfortable roll-away bed (super-firm mattress: korean hardwood floor style), and toothbrushes (how could we forget those?). we just chilled in the room w/ 5 bottles of wine (only 1.5 of which were consumed: fail!). the bathroom was large and brightly lit, and the room itself was nicely sized w/ huge picture windows. the hotel was so close to Seaport Village, where we walked to for dinner and breakfast.
next time i will definitely stay here. the views (see my photos) were breathtaking, especially on Sunday when the bright sun came out. this place i believe is close enough to go to the gaslamp district, so we'll do that next time.

Welllll....My hubby's dad gave us points to use at this Marriott on our anniversary weekend. It saved us HUNDREDS and since he is a Platinum member, we got a FATTY upgrade upon arrival. We were on the 23rd floor in a corner suite with a 180 degree view of the harbor! It was an incredible room.
I always wish these kinds of hotels would upgrade their bathrooms with jacuzzi tubs (I'm obsessed with taking hot baths), but otherwise, I thought it was a great hotel.
We were greeted warmly, the valet service was prompt, the elevators were fast, they offered cold beer and wine in the gift shop and had a decent cable selection.
The beds were VERY comfy and our room was always tidy and we had plenty of towels. Because we were platinum, we also received complimentary continental breakfast and "happy hour" drinks and appetizers. Not the best selection of food but hey, it's free!!
I REALLY enjoyed it and would stay here again.

This was our destination for a "mini-fake-vacation" as our belated Valentine's Day celebratory activities, and I was blown away! Walking in the doors, I gasped and smiled at the spawling lobby/front desk area. Gorgeous frosted lighting! Also, the girl at the Front Desk (I can't remember her name, but she was from Ireland) was extremely friendly and gave suggestions as for the best time to check out the views, the pool, etc. Also, bonus points for the Bath and Body Works Energizing Aromatherapy lotion at the desk as well as in the rooms (the soap, lotions, shampoo and conditioner were all courtesy of BBW).
Our room in the corner on the 19th floor was beautiful, spacious and the balcony gave us a gorgeous view of the bay. It was very relaxing to just sit there and watch the sun glistening off the water. Our bed was huge, with a feather pad on top of the mattress, and complete with 6 comfy pillows.
I did not experience any of the noise issues that other reviewers have mentioned. We could hear the door closing of the room next door, but that's common in ANY hotel. The cable TV channels could stand to be updated - while Eric was snoring, I was stuck with my choice of Colon Cleansing informercials to watch.
The staff - from front desk, to the bar, to room service, was extremely friendly and helpful. No complaints in the least. We hit up the bar on the lobby floor - it was packed due to a convention in town, but were still served quickly. At one point, it smelled VERY bad in that area - I think that one of the convention-goers may have partied a bit too hard.
The outside is beautiful - pools and waterfalls, lots of greenery. It made for a very relaxing ambiance in the evening. Great for sitting and having a drink.
Our breakfast the next morning (room service) - was excellent! I remembered getting the Corn-Flake Crusted French Toast at a Marriott years ago, and was hoping that it still existed - lo and behold, it did! Between my French Toast and Eric's All American Breakfast - we had a feast. It was pricy, but then again, it was room service, so that is to be expected.
Overall, an amazing experience. A few glitches here and there, but nothing that was out of the ordinary - no hotel is perfect. Yes, it's pricey, but if you are planning on a mini-getaway, it's worth it.

Stayed here because I wanted to take the Trolley to the Chargers game, plus I had extra Marriott points available. I have to say I was impressed with this hotel which is situated directly next to the San Diego Convention Center. Self parking is $22 and not easily accessible from the rooms so I would suggest utilizing valet for $32.
They were letting people checkin early. I checked in at 11am. If possible, request a corner room with two balconies. I had a room with a balcony facing the harbor and the other facing the city. Rooms aren't that spacious and the decor is a bit outdated but the location is great.
The pool/waterfall area is plush and great to sit around and have a cocktail; and, the area is connected to the marina and Roy's restaurant.
Take a walk down to Richard Walker's Pancake house and grab a breakfast - they end breakfast at 2:30pm.

This is the hotel that I stayed at while in San Diego. It's a very nice hotel and it's beautiful because it overlooks the marina!
However, no more ordering food/room service to the hotel because that's how our wallet got raped. But that's what happens when we were too lazy to drive out and find a place to eat. So we were asking for it ;P
Front desk service was great and I had no problems checking in and the room itself was nice, clean, big, and with an amazing view! (love love the view!) What I also liked is that they have cab service in the front/entrance of the hotel. We didn't drive around town (at night) so it was convenient to step out to the front and have a cab ready for us.
It's kind of pricey but you get what you pay for. Plus the location is pretty snazzy.

Your run of the mill conference hotel that you should be staying at ONLY if the company pays for it and you are there for a conference.
Expedia pricing is outrageously high, this is ranked a 4 star by priceline but IMO its right there with any Embassay Suites or Courtyard Marriott.
We got a very spacious room with a view to the city but the train that runs along the road in front would blow its horn for a full minute everytime it passes by all the way past 2 in the morning. Earplugs and Ambien are a must if you get a room on that side. Showers are pathetically drippy.

I enjoyed this hotel because of the location on the Marina. There is an excellent waterfront to exercise on during your visit and they have fireworks you can see almost every night from Sea World if you are on a boat in the marina. The amphatheatre is close and we saw Jewel and Rob Thomas for free, cruised over and watched from the water on the boat.
The fireworks display on the fourth of July at the Marriott was really good and the pool was really peaceful, even though it was way too packed during the holiday weekend when we visited. The poolside service was great too. If you are a lover of the water and generally love the marina lifestyle like I do, you should check out this Marriott.

all we wanted was a nice relaxing room with an ocean breeze - we got so much more! amazing service ! i was greeted instantly as soon as I arrived - and requested a ocean bay view room and when i got up to my 20th floor - was greeted with a breathtaking view of the marina and all its glory!
it is conveniently located so its walking distance to everything: seaport village, gaslamp, and the hyatt next door.
other than the location and amentities of this hotel, what really was impressive was their quick and friendly service and follow through. roll away was at the room within 5 minutes of check in brought in with extra towels without even having to have requested it! the rooms are spacious and the staff is so friendly and pleasureable!!
will definitely be back!
the only turn off was $22 nightly parking for guests. =(

I stayed here while taking the bar exam and I passed so my review might be influenced slightly, I feel I owe some credit to the Marriott 2 years ago.
I enjoyed the hotel for several reasons:
1. I'm a Marriott junkie - courtyard with the breakfast buffet is heaven, those spicy potatoes are out of control, I like the J-dubs, and Marriott on a whole is a great experience.
2. I love boats - having it's own harbor and being able to stroll alongside all the boats is very relaxing to me. There is a lot of cheddar tied up outside the Marriott if ya know what I mean.
3. I love great views - The Marriott delivers on this no question
4. I like comfortable beds - who the hell doesn't?
5. I like food - some pretty good restaurants here as well as tasty adult beverages!
6. The pool is great - Little fire pits with sofas tucked away in moderately discreet areas, nice soothing jazz music playing, coffee carts, hot tubs with water falls, fine looking ladies, can't go wrong.
I'd live at this place if I could. It is easy to get lost in and sure it isn't brand new, but for all the above stated reasons, 5 stars!

This Marriott has a prime location on San Diego's waterfront. The architecture is post-Miami vice. The interior lobby's where there was carpet was in desperate need of update. The lift (elevator) banks had a hideous and outmoded marble design and the wood paneling was cheap; the lift indicators were round and looked clumsily placed over the paneling. The furnishings were behind their time when they were placed on the floor. The lobby felt so temporary and the rooms seemed to be so in need of a re-design and the introduction of modern creature comforts. I would not stay at this hotel again. I heard neighbors on both sides; giggling girls who stayed up all night; and a super deep voice Johnny Cash-like voice. I heard everything through the paper-thin walls.
The concierge service didn't feel confident in their choices and I didn't find all staff even in service level.

Ok, only the first of 3 nights here, so I may change my tune...they charge for internet! This must be a SoCal thing because you get free wifi in SF and surrounding areas. $10 a day for internet on top of $20 a day for parking--highway robbery. Also, could not find how to get from the parking to our room. We do have a nice view of downtown, however.
The train stopped outside our building at midnight and blew its horn for about 15 minutes. Did they want everyone to come out and get onboard. More insanity.
The Starbucks in the lobby closes at 6 p.m. I get the feeling the whole town rolls up the sidewalks about this time.

A lovely hotel down on the marina, convention center adjacent. I liked the decor much less than the Hyatt Regency, and the lobby smelled icky. Luckily the guest room floors smelled delightful. Ample meeting space - Trader Joe's was here with all their fun set ups and yummy food when we did our site visit. It was all I could do not to run through their space eating all the samples.
Again, the staff were swell and the rooms pretty spiffy. I recommend the suites (duh) - balconies rock. They look out onto the marina and pool area (with tiki bar! San Diego loves its tikis). Really nice and tropical feeling pool area with waterfalls and coi ponds around the perimeter. I also liked the tile mosaics on the floor, but that's just because I'm into that sort of thing.

The hotel is grand to say the least. It's in a convenient location overlooking the Marina and the view from our room was awesome. We had the luxury of coming here over Memorial Day weekend and we even got a fireworks show.
The service was a little slow at times. Since my dad was an Elite member of the Marriott, we had certain perks like free ice cream and soda for our room. It would have been nice if it didn't take them 2 hours to bring it up. Housekeeping was nice though even when I asked them for extra bottles of their cute little shampoo and conditioner.
They have complimentary breakfast, appetizers, and desserts at certain hours in the lounge. Chocolate covered strawberries. Assorted cheeses! Yum! Not to mention the bottles of wine that you can take and their unattended bar (seriously.. No ID check?!).
I do have a couple quips with this hotel though starting with the parking. What the hell are they thinking?! You have two choices - Valet or Self Park. Valet is $26 a day. Self Park is even weirder. You pull into the lot and take a ticket - if you stay under 30 minutes its free. If you stay over it charges you by hour or $20 for a full day. Is it me or why do I need to pay for housing for my car? There's also too little parking which forces to you valet. Oh and watch out for the old guy that sits in the middle of the lot. If you go to the left of him, he'll snap at you "$5 extra!".
The gym was nice though scary for a lady at 10pm at night. You have to trek across the rooftop of the convention center with minimal light. THAT was a workout in itself.

This place has the potential to be great but they really need to do something about the noise! The hotel is nice and clean. The pool is great. The staff is helpful but the NOISE....
We were on the 25th floor facing the city and I got woken by a freight train 3 or 4 times on Friday night. Saturday night I managed to score some earplugs (and had a few cocktails) so either it didn't go by or the cocktail induced sleep + earplugs drowned it out.
In addition to the train there was a squeaking in the air vent in our room. Drove me crazy! Whether the fan was on or off the squeaking continued. The earplugs didn't really help but earplugs + pillow over my head = the right combination to block that noise. Luckily, we had points because if we paid $450/night (rate for top floor room) and heard all that noise I would have been one angry guest!
I stayed here with my best friend when the Giants came into town to play the Chargers. My eyes lit up with enthusiasm as we pulled into the parking lot. This place impresses both on the inside and out. You will notice how breathtaking the two glass towers are; it's something that I haven't seen before. The inside is equally as nice. The front desk was prompt with the check in process, and they were nice enough to give us a high floor room view facing the marina and Coronado Island. The balcony was spacious enough to sit and relax and take in the view. The room was bigger and nicer than the average Marriott room.
My best friend and I ate at DW's Irish Pub. This place is OK. I got the fish and chips, but it's not worth doing cartwheels. However, the room service was surprisingly satisfying. I ordered the chuck angus burger with bacon and buffalo wings on the side. This is the best burger you'll experience for room service. You have to trust me on this one.
Overall, the San Diego Marriott and Marina is the place to stay at when you are in town. It is located near the convention center and a Westfield shopping center. The hotel as a whole was an unforgettable experience. From the breathtaking views of the marina, to the surprising room service, I will definitely stay here again.
Highly Recommended

Rooftop view on Friday & Saturday night is gorgeous!! it is an outdoor lounge type of atmosphere with music and 2 bars. LOVE LOVED IT! The drinks are kind of pricey, but the mojitos are totally worth it. If you order your drinks before 9, i believe you get like half off! Also, the rooftop is open daily if you want a nice view of petco park, seaport, and coronado. The rooms are pretty nice, but typical of a hotel..nothing spectacular. Customer service was excellent, but be careful, they charge a grip for bottle water and soda!
This Marriott is very pretty on the outside... the lobby looks pretty good, too, but that's where the facade begins to break down. As a whole, I thought a lot of this Marriott was pretty beat up. The elevators, for instance, were pretty beat up. I mean it's not awful, it just feels and looks OLD.
I also got lost in this damn place, too. I self parked, took the elevator, and then welcome to "NO SIGNS TO ANYWHERE LAND". I wandered around down this way, down that way, and ultimately had to exit the building I was in, walk across a private-ish street to the next Marriott building, walk a million miles to the lobby, etc. Sure, I am exaggerating a little but I seriously did get lost trying to find the god damn lobby after self parking.
I would valet but my company is too impractical to pay for it (even when it's the ONLY option)
The pool area- which I did not visit- looked very nice. And I will say the fitness center is TOP NOTCH. I mean, everything is high tech, brand new- very nice. So they have that going for them.
As a whole though, I probably wouldn't stay at this one again. I would probably try a different one unless my business was in close proximity to this one.

This is a standard Marriott Hotel. They are all pretty nice, what you would expect from any Marriott. Clean, pleasant interior decorating, decent food.
But the location SUCKS. The freight train passes right in front of the hotel and it blares its horn at all hours of the EARLY morning. What a frichen disaster. Hearing a train pass by at 5AM is no treat!
Marriott - seriously - invest in some triple-pane windows...GEESH!

I recently did an event here for work in one of the conference rooms and I have to say that the staff here was absolutely great! They were extremely helpful, very polite, and definetely went the extra mile. Wonderful staff and very customer service oriented, they went above and beyond the call of duty. My thanks to those waiters who worked at the Salman Rushdie event if any should happen to read this review.
Wink, wink!

I stayed here during a convention, and my roommate then is a Marriott preferred member (or whatever the heck they call it) so she was able to get priority service if we needed it (which we didn't, really).
Rooms are clean enough. Fairly roomy. Beds are comfortable, but a little too soft for my liking. My roommate felt like she was going to slide off her bed at one point. The view is nice if you get a room facing the marina. Our room was on the 6th floor, right over the pool, so we got the fairly loud music played at the pool all afternoon.
My main complaint was the with the hotel booked up for the convention and insufficient elevator capacity, it always seemed like the elevators were stopping on every floor EXCEPT yours. I stopped trying to wait 20 minutes for th elevator because I got to my destination faster by taking the stairs.
My other complaint is the ridiculous parking fees. $22+ per day? And if you can't find self-parking, you're forced to valet for a slightly higher price. They were speedy and efficient, though, I must say. Excellent service all around, actually. Check-in and check-out was easy.
