My dad and I hit balls here yesterday since Harding Park's range is closed for now through the President's Cup.
The small bucket of balls for $7 includes 60 balls which is a bit steep, but there aren't too many golf ranges around, so you have to grin and bear it. Also, the button for the machine wasn't working for the small bucket so we just kept pushing buttons until the balls starting coming out.
It was super crowded on the ground level so we ended up on the upper level.
The chipping/sand trap area is the best though. There are plenty of sand traps to practice, plenty of chipping to better your game.
i am a golfing novice. my bf, who is an avid golfer and has been playing since he was a child, wanted to practice his swing and invited me along to hit a ball or two. i never realized how much goes into golfing. it's a whole new world, and this neophyte had no idea about the stances, strategies, form, different clubs, and what not about golf.
at the end of our time here, i was able to hit the ball pretty well. to my standards at least. i had a fun time, and would like to practice my swing. i will definitely be back.
Good ball to dollar ratio
Crowded
Windy
the freeway is close so you hear a constant hum of cars
did I mention the wind?
This is a good place to go after work to smack a few balls into oblivion. It's open til 9:30 which makes it perfect to get a good couple hours in after dinner. The place has two levels but I definitely prefer to hit on the upper tier. It can get a bit crowded at times especially if the weather is nice. I've only been in the evening so there are always spots open. Sometimes it can get very windy and cold. The proshop doesn't have much either.

Great place to go hit some balls at the driving range. Went here with a couple buddies on a Saturday afternoon and it was great. It get pretty buys but they have enough driving range spots to accommodate a lot of people so we didn't feel rushed and we all hit a ton of balls. To be specific we each got about 165 balls to hit at the range. We spent a good 2 hours hittin balls chillin shootin the shit. Cool place also for beginners which I am. The place didn't feel pretentious at all.
$13 - 165 balls = 7.9 cents per ball
$11 - 105 balls = 10.5 cents per ball
$7 - 65 balls = 10.8 cents per ball
Has lower covered deck and an upper uncovered deck both with turf. Real grass driving range (about 8 stalls). They have distance tags, but not sure if they are that accurate. Putting greens. Club house with tools, toys, and real bathroom (versus Porto-hurt). They got a private instructor for hire.
Remember to get loose dollar bills at the club house. The ball dispenser only takes bills and does NOT give change.
The place is definitely serviceable. Just wish they had a hot dog stand.

I went here before Golf tryouts... but I ended up not trying out for Golf anyway.
It's your average driving range, I guess. I kind of wished that the top deck had roof over it so if it was raining, you can still hit some up there. It's pretty quiet here, good golfing ambiance. The price is reasonable, but I've been to cheaper driving ranges. They do keep their putting zone nice and clean, although once it gets dark, you can't practice much since the lighting out there isn't that great.
If you don't want to travel far and you live in the San Bruno/So. San Francisco Area, this is a great place to swing some out.
Too many Filipinos, Koreans and Filipino and Korean ooglers. Add to that windiness, expensive balls made of rock, and extremely slow putting greens, this place is sure to hinder your game more than anything.
I brought my wife to the range once. Everyone pretty much stopped, oogled and stared. They adjusted their pants, pulled out their drivers and swung away.
The men there are just creepy.
Hidden gem tucked away behind a fence of trees in San Bruno. This location is quiet, serene, and it has an isolated feel to it... almost like miles away from the chaotic city life. My only caveat is that they do not have a bar here! I would def come more often to work on my swings if they had happy hour

Cheap balls! As silly as that may sound, it's true. You get plenty of cheap balls for a half day of swinging.. or until your arms give out
I'll let you all in on a little secret about Eugy. If he brags and brags about how he is so good at something, it really means he sucks more balls than Mr. Chappy Pants during the NYC Gay Pride Parade. BUT! If he plays something down, like he's not very good at all, then that means he is probably near perfection at whatever it is he is downplaying.
We all know he's not athletic, but apparently, he plays golf. Go figure. Oh wait. He IS korean. That makes since. Koreans probably invented Golf.
So after a good workout at the gym, we decided to come out here and hit some golf balls. I love going to the driving range, but the excitement is always short lived for me. After hitting about 20 balls, I get really bored. Plus, I'm not really good at golf. I grew up in the south! We didn't play girlie stuff like golf! We played baseball and football!
We get a bucket of balls and head to the stall. I go up first. I hit and few and then a crap load of comments start coming my way from Mr. Eugene "Golf Pro" Lee. "You gotta keep your head down!" "Follow through with your swing!" And then he walks over and starts getting all technical. "You see, what you have to remember is the force at which your are swinging will affect the apex of the turn..."
I give him the "if you don't be quite I am going to whack you to death with this golf club!"
He goes up and begins to swing. Actually, he is pretty damn good. Nice form. Great distance. Maybe his low center of gravity has something to do with it. And the fact that he is using childrens sized or womens golf clubs. idk...
The center is pretty bare. Just a modest little office area selling some gloves and balls and tees, drinks and such.
The range has two levels. Nothing special.

It's a sad thing when at 22 you find the romance in your relationship beginning to fade and your combined schedules so busy that you have to schedule a weekly date night to ensure you see each other more in person than in passing.
It's even sadder when your boyfriend starts inviting his buddies along with you on date night.
Luckily, we'd planned to make San Bruno Golf Center our romantic destination on this particular date night - and even crashed date nights are fun at San Bruno Golf Center.
Two decks of hitting stalls - opt for the lower deck if you want to escape the wind. It gets cold.
The ball machine only accepts exact change but the person at the front desk will happily break change for you, and there is an ATM in the golf store for those who travel paperless.
Snack options are limited, so I suggest popping into the gas station across the street to stock up on the necessary rations - enough corn nuts and Gatorade and I can swing all night!
Open until 9, this driving range stays open later than most in the city or surrounding area, so even the busiest of us can escape the office in time to take your romantic aggression out on a bucket of balls.
Healthy? Maybe not. Effective? Very.

Golf Range
Not bad for a hidden away gem such as this. I use to drive by this one all the time and cannot believe it stayed hidden from my eyeballs stuck on the road before me.
I came here with it about a good month before I had to dump him, but the setup here is clean, efficient and green. The mats were well maintained as were the grounds. There was a separate area for putting and the day we were there, Taylor-Made was offering a free fitting event.
My drives were not that good that day but my pitching shots were great.
In addition to the driving range, they also offer classes that I was thinking of tinkering with. Now it looks like I'm just going to have to wait a little longer :)

This my home driving range. I come out here at least once a week. The staff is great and 165 balls for $13 isn't bad at all. Better than cypress. The short game practice area is great, but can get crowded. The practice greens are in great shape. The staff is great. Definitely come here if your looking to work on your game.
Wanna know a secret? I love to play golf. Wanna know another secret? I'm pretty good at it. Yup. However, only one person would agree with me - my husband. But that's because he sucks. Sorry, but you do. Seriously, don't watch me play. I might make you look bad. Yeah right.
I only get to go to a driving range about once or twice a year now because I've been so lazy. But I decided to go here one morning on my day off to join all the retired folks on a Monday. I had a lot of fun and it's quite spacious. It's nothing fancy, but they do have a few stalls out on real grass now. It's fun to destress and I love hearing the swoosh and whack of a driver hitting a ball in the distance. How come my club doesn't make that perfect noise when I hit? hmm...
Anyway, prices are right and you can buy a tee for $1 or something. Best to come at odd hours to avoid a crowd. It gets really crowded on a Saturday morning.

Good driving range. Lots of space but it gets windy.
I haven't been golfing in ages and got the itch to get out and hit some balls on the weekend.
I didn't feel like driving across the city to harding park and stumbled upon this place when searching for a spot to work out the kinks in my swing.
It was a quick steal away, just 10 -15 minutes south of SF in San Bruno.
The range was extremely expansive as it had a double decker level driving deck. Additionally they had a grass area to hit off of on the far left side. I love this as it seems there are no public driving ranges that allow you to hit off grass anymore.
Additionally they have a gated off short game area that looked pretty cool. I think it was $5 for 30 minutes in there and each additional 15 minutes was $1.
Behind the driving range was as mid sized putting green.
All in all I was really surprised at the expansiveness of the place as it was a rather full service range.
The place is open 7 days a week at 7 am...meaning if you can steal away for 30-45 minutes prior to work this is a good stop for you non country club members (myself included).
I didn't like the lack of greens to aim at on the range. I think there were maybe 7-8 greens across the whole range as well as a large net about 160 yards out you could aim for. I also didn't like the fact that the range was all astro turf and the balls bounded off the turf. As such the balls you hit were certainly a little bigigaty and knuckled a lot when they came off of your club.

Facilities are a little aged, but perfectly playable. Dude at the register? Not cool. I was new, I asked a few questions, you gave a few half-assed answers. Come on, I know you don't love your job, but let's try to feign some friendliness, mmmkay?
Oh and why do you have to buy rubber tee nipples? (I said nipple!) Every other driving range I've been to provides those gratis. No biggie since it was only a buck, but weird. A large bucket was $13, kept us busy for just long enough.
The easy access from 280 was pretty cool too. Nice time waster for a beautiful Sunday!

It is a great way to get away from the city. I went at seven on a Saturday night. I never said my life is exciting, and I did not have to content with too many people. A mixture of turf and grass, and I don't have to aim right like I would at Presidio. They have heaters, for the chilly days, which they reminded me of the ones back at east coast. Although I was annoyed by the continuous rolling balls going into the ball machine. Bong Bong bong, and cling, cling, cling. I was about the whack it with a club, and I thought it would not be too good, if I want to come back here again.
I do need to try it out again when there is more light. The darkness ate some of my balls. Not mine, but the golf balls.
First of all...pat yourself on the back if you find this place without GPS, a map, and a survival kit. As soon as you turn on to Sneath from the highway, make an immediate left into what looks like a maintenance entrance to the park of despair. After winding down sed maintenance road you will come to the main building where there is ample parking.
Inside the club house (or *trailer home-esk tin shed* depending on how you pronounce it) you can buy rubber tees for the mats on the driving range. After that its off to the smaller tin shed for a bucket-o-balls. Pick from $7, $11, or $15.
Upper deck is well maintained mats, lower level is some of the same and real grass (ooooooh...aaaaaaah). Everything sounds great...right? So why only 3 stars? Because the down sides are:
1. The range is a giant dust bowl that slowly rakes upward so it is impossible to gauge long distance.
2. Its cold and windy as all hell...and the highway practicallly cuts through it.
3. Little kids everywhere shanking balls into other stalls
4. Douch bag gangster wanna be's are swarming this place and over swinging at balls, swearing loudly, and trying to hit the ball pick up machine with every swing.
Don't get me wrong...a little smile creeps across my face when I smack the cart at 175 yards, but I'm not flippin it off and pegging it at 80 yards with my pants dangling around my knees. Yeah. Good times. Mickleson please! You know I gots to be getting my sticks up in this piece with my peeps. Ya feel me? No. No I don't.

I've played golf since I was 12 and have been coming to this range ever since. This place is huge and I love how open the space is. You can hit off the mat or off the grass if you like. It's double-decker but I always like hitting from ground level. You can get a better feel for how you're really hitting the ball and I get more fatigued with the sun beating down on my neck the whole time. There's a putting green and a gated area to practice chipping which is really nice. This may sound kind of strange, but I enjoy the ride down to the parking lot from the main street :)
Call me a snob, but everyone knows there's a thing called golf etiquette. I don't take myself too seriously and I'm all about having fun but PLEASE don't bring your whole family, wife, and two kids to the range. People like to concentrate on their swing and practice quietly without the disturbance of your wife cheering every time you hit a good shot or your 3 year olds trying to mimic daddy with their miniature 5 wood. No one wants to pick up their balls and move to a different mat so just respect other players around you please. That means talking on cell phones too. THANK YOU!
A large bucket is $13 and can be shared by 2 people, but my boyfriend gets a large bucket just for himself. All-in-all, this is one of my favorite ranges to come practice.
5 stars exactly for five reasons!
#1. Within five minutes driving distance from my place.
#2. Covered practice hitting stalls on the lower deck... great for those many windy times out there AND an upper deck if you want to catch some rays.
#3. They let you borrow a (very cheap) club, for the friend who doesn't have their own to hit with.
#4. $13 for 165 can last me (plus a friend) over an hour, or sometimes longer! ...and FREE PUTTING!
#5. It's a great stress reliever!!! Just imagine the balls are the heads of the people who you encounter in life that have pissed you off...
Now... That was a GREAT SHOT!

I have been to many different golfing ranges in the greater Seattle area, but have never been to one in the SF area. I went on a date to this one and it was a lot of fun. The facility is really nice and everyone around you is of different levels and are friendly. They have an easy access ball-dispensing machine right in the middle of each level, the range is lit, and one of the slots had a viewing screen for you to watch your screen.
There is also a place to practice putting and pitching. It was quite a drive, but a very nice place. Careful you don't miss the turn.
Sammy! It's been too long. I know you've been busy with other things to practice on your swing. That's ok. Cool, you remembered to bring a jacket. It's usually a little nippy here. At least it's not too windy this evening.
Whoa buddy! Hold up on the swing now. Remember not to go all Barry Bonds on the ball. Relax the grip. Eye on the ball. Free and easy... and remember to follow through. Tree falling in the woods, man. Tree falling in the woods.
There ya go! A lot better. It's like riding a bike yea? Just takes a little bit to get back into... ahem... the swing of things. Nice, just make a little game out of it. See, how many consecutive good hits you can string together.
Dude, did you see the short game area out front. Pretty cool huh? There are three bunkers that you can hit out of. Man, you need the practice. Haha... You can practice there for $5.00 for 30 minutes, $1.00 for each additional 15 minutes.
Hey, when you're done here. You can work on your putting for free. Maybe next time, you can work on your swing at the grass area. It's $4 to hit over there though. Just head over to the front desk to get a yellow basket.
Aite man, I'll leave you to your swing now. Nice to see ya back buddy. Ohhhh, nearly hit the golf cart. 100 points!
**Updated 3/2/08
Met John, one of the range's golf instructors, with 30+ years teaching experience. He was very nice to give me and my buddy a few pointers. You rock dude!

Why must my swing be so inconsistent? Do you know how much I've spent on the big buckets of driving range balls here? Cruel golf gods, why do you torment so?
These are some of the questions I ask myself when I'm here.
Overall, it's a good place to work on your swing.
Cons:
-- It gets so crowded that you'll have to go to the second deck, and it gets really windy on the second deck.
-- The idiots who honk their horn as they drive by to try to distract you.
Pros:
-- You get a lot of range balls for cheap.
-- There is a practice area for your short game, chipping, and putting.
-- It's better than the range at Harding.

Okay, knees slighty bent.
Stick your ass out.
Don't move your head.
Keep your eyes on the ball.
Keep your left arm straight.
Bring up your club...
Tuck in your right arm.
***Swing***
Nance: FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!
Ball: Completely missed.
Okay, try again...
***Swing***
Nance: AWWW SHIT!!!!
Ball: Pops up and goes 3 feet.
***Looks around***
Oh crap! *covers mouth* There's children around!!
This place has designated smoking areas.
I think it needs designated cursing areas...
...because both are bad for your health.

Home, home on the range
Where the deer and the antelope...
Play golf, apparently.
I froze my ass off last night hitting some balls with Euge, Hen, Nance, Mia, Kev, and Mike.
I'm a ball buster- everyone knows this. But did you know that I can hit balls 75 feet in 4" , open toe wedges? FABULOUS- I know.
I used to go to the driving range a lot, but I sucked ass. I would sporadically go with my golfer friend, Vic about once every other month. Until last night, I hadn't visited the range for at least 8 months, but apparently it didn't matter.
Batter up- first swing of the night: 75-80 feet.
Euge: WOW- that's a nice swing!
Batter up- second swing: 80-85 feet.
Me: Damn my toes are cold. I need to stop!
All of a sudden, the whipping wind causes a sandstorm (I thought they only had those in Kansas) and I ran towards Hen for cover since there was nothing else to shelter me. Hen decides that his beer take precedence over my well being and shelters his ice cold beer instead.
Thanks, punk!
Since the driving range down in China Basin is gone (did you know that a Tiger/Nike commercial was filmed there?), this will be my driving range home away from home.
Busting balls, one ball at a time.

You know the saying about clouds and silver linings? My cloud: Mission Bay Driving Range closed. My silver lining: discovering San Bruno Family Golf Center.
I'm a sporadic golfer with a pretty good long game (meaning I hit pretty far and consistently straight) and a craptastic short game (meaning I'm always asking if I can just pick up the damn ball and take the penalty already). San Bruno may cure me yet --- the driving range is fun and affordable (incentive --- hitting the junker car and getting that fabulous "Thunk" sound) AND the putting greens are real grass. It's convenient to the South part of SF (right off the highway), has ample parking and wasn't crowded.
Maybe I'm scoring it high b/c I went with two male friends and was able to display my "I'm a cute girl who can whoop your ass" aptitude. Maybe the score was bumped by the sunshine on the top deck. Maybe the sight of the little munchkins with their mini club sets put me into a saccharine induced state of giddiness. Regardless, I'll be back, putter in hand.
Note: you have to either bring or purchase your own plastic tee thingy. I think it was $1.00. Also, I didn't see anywhere to buy beer.

hannala ms review
ahahahha shit i knew there was a reason i liked this lady from the get go.
soooooooooooooooooo did i ever tell you guys im tiger fucking woods? ok, may not. but i have been playing for a very long time. im what you would call a driving range superstar. i look good on a driving range. bam 275, bam 300. bam hit the pin with a wedge......now take me on a course, its like fucking ping pong.
one story before review. i remember, this was like mmmmmm when i was in college. one day pops ask if i want to go to the course? of course i wanted too, it like those rare father son moments things you see on them mormon st jesus christ, later yo commercials. off the first hole, bam nice solid drive. wow. i even impressed myself.......cut to par three hole, with a four iron, bam on the green, maybe four feet away. pops was like wow. double boogied that one!?!??! wtf? next, 4 wood off a short tee. bam good solid drive.....nice drive son..... but you balls going the wrong way..... the day ended right there when i hit a house. time get out of there. AHAHHAH
i havent been to this location since it was boogies to birdies, remember the dome pro shop? so they improved this place a lot. double decker, short game practice areas, putting areas....... now if they could only fix the god damn freezing weather and the occasional sandstorms............
PROTECT THE BEERS!!!!!!
prices arent bad at all. they have a bunch of clubs you can borrow if you are a beginner, nance found a couple that fit her good. sucks you need to bring (buy) your own tee, but ehhh. next time around, go downstairs. its more sheltered from the wind and has heaters.

Note: I'm reviewing only the driving range.
Not great, but definitely cheap and opens late for peop;e who work and can stop by after. The place is definitely kind of worn down. Mariner's looks better, but for the cost and the location, it's the best we've got here in San Francsico. I mean, the Presidio is nice too, but they are expensive compared to here. $13 for 150 balls?
The stars aligned at work and I got there right at 6. I waited and waited and waited. It was cold. I pondered how much I would suck because the dust on my clubs were 6 years old. I don't think I have touched them since my little one was born. I don't think I've been to San Bruno Family Golf since I last swung a club. (no baby seals here!)
Mia was also waiting and waiting and waiting. We got to talking and it turns out we were waiting for the same people. (Japanese people are prompt. Dammit!)
Hen brought the beer. Euge brought The Nance. The Nance brought her freaken A-game. Bella brought the styling shoes. Mia brought the camera. And Mike brought the dinner suggestion.
If you go often enough, pay some money and get the card for the ball machine. Please note that this card and ball machine does not: 1) wash your balls 2) bust your balls 3) salt your balls or 4) put your balls to the wall. It simply dispenses golf balls.
Definitely bring a windbreaker. Maybe some ski goggles for those sudden hurricane-like windstorms that may threaten your beer or women.
Save the beer, save the world!

I came down here Wednesday night after work to meet up with yelpers Mia, Bella, Hen, Ken, Euge and Nance. I actually live about a mile away so I've been here a few times.
I haven't played in a couple of months and actually play in on and off for as long as I can remember. Basically, enough to give me no excuses for my sucking.
This is actually a pretty nice driving range. They have a double decker setup. The only real minus is that it's close to the 280 freeway but you really don't hear it.
The other minus was it it was seriously cold Wednesday night. (as Bella, Hen and Euge's reviews say) and we actually got hit for moment by a sandstorm. Fortunately, I didn't have a beer to protect when it hit. Unfortunately, I didn't have a beer.
But now that things are warming up (you hear weather?!! warm up!!!), I'll be coming by more often. So everyone park on the far side of the lot.

it was a lot of fun. not sure what to rate it against but i definitely had a great time at the driving range. there were parts that were a bit dingy, but hey, it was pretty cheap!
Now that Mission Bay range is closed, this is the next best thing. Go first thing in the morning if you can. Most people are on the lower deck, so it feels like I have the whole place to myself.
Even in the evening, there is usually an open stall b/c of the double deck.
A couple of putting greens to practice.
Too bad it's not in the City...

Maybe I'm just a spoiled brat pining for my country club days, but wow.
- No sign at the entrance.
- Extra money to hit on grass...fine. Extra money to hit on ugly grass with no flat lies...eh. Extra money to hit on uneven, ugly grass, and the guy behind the counter TAKES MY KEYS in exchange for a yellow bucket. WTF.
- The place is a fucking wind tunnel.
- More pricing tiers and special than a baseball stadium.
- It looks and feels like a jail, right down to the surly warden and fenced-in practice area. At almost every juncture are signs saying what you can and, more often, cannot do.
- Did I mention it's like a wind tunnel?
There has to be a better driving range than this near the city.

This is a great little find. I'm very much a beginner, but thoroughly enjoyed myself here. The facilities are clean, and very accessible, and well lit at night. The staff was very helpful and friendly, and I love their hours - 7am to 9pm daily! As mentioned above, a bucket of balls is pretty cheap, and they provide free clubs, for those of us that haven't bought our own yet. If you get there early enough, they even have a "Happy Hour" bargain for balls.
Even my 8 year old daughter had a great time hacking a bucket of balls, and laughing at her daddy. Good times for all.
I've taken to the golf range in an attempt to find more relaxing things to do with my time. I've come to terms with the fact that I have no skills yet but it's always good to pretend. I found this place by accident while driving down the 280 and decided to try it out. With my trusty new $100 golf club set off of Amazon, I ventured onto the range to get some practice in... you know, before I go pro. The place is decent. Pretty clean, functioning equipment... can't ask for much more then that.
Drawbacks? Finding this place is difficult. No signs at all so plan on using your detective skills.
Booty shakers come here for the balls!!!!!!
Yeah, I witnessed a dude actually poppin his booty before he swung poorly. HAHAHAHAHAH....
It's fun here, basic and clean, and hopefully without wasting any breath on words. I like not having to talk to folks so this place is good.
We always go for the lower deck because it's
a) on the ground
b) covered from the sun/clouds/potential flying balls from above
c) not as painful if you were to fall (assuming you compare it to the upper deck - SCARY!)
My fiance and I split a large bucket of 165 balls for $13 and play for about 1.5 hrs. Putting afterwards is great, the greens are either wet or super dry w/ sand...always get your a-game on.
But..if you catch me @ the range..watch out...im on butt watch for poppers!!! (while swinging of course....)

Damn I need a some time to unwind. Lets go shag some balls I say to my coworkers and fellow claim slaves at least twice a week. The great thing I have learned is that you don't have to have a $1000 set of clubs to play. Goodwill sells some cheap clubs that will do just fine.
The rules here at Family Golf are pretty liberal. Here are somethings that are allowed, or at least nobody has said anything:
1. Drinking some brewskis while hitting some balls
2. Swearing, I hear lots of that here
3. Using $2 clubs from the goodwill
4. Having those $2 clubs actually be women's clubs and nobody says anything
5. Slicing every ball to the right without anybody saying anything
6. You can wear a shirt that says "no fat chicks" and still nobody will say anything.
****BTW, Tiger Woods Wii Golf does not help out your game.
