San Anselmo
2 reviews for San Anselmo
Closer to the middle of Marin, San Anselmo enjoys the benefits of being in a sheltered valley with almost a perfect record of sun throughout the year. The people here are as warm as the weather. After a short stroll through the picturesque downtown you'll wish that other affluent towns around Marin had this kind of vibe.
There are plenty of expensive places to shop downtown but also some very budget conscious alternatives including some killer consignment shops with designer apparel as well as reasonable new things at Monarch, The Vintage Flamingo and Gioia. Great deals can also be found at some of the nail salons so this is definitely a destination for girls day out. There are some fabulous restaurants to feast at in the evenings (a little pricy but worth it). The area is very safe, so much so that the police seem to have enough spare time to pull over cyclists all day long for not coming to a complete stop at stop signs. I'm sure there are some organizations out there that could use a hand...
The town has literally no night life but is walking distance from Fairfax so lets just say this area has everything.
THIS IS A GREAT LITTLE TOWN WITH LOTS OF SPIRIT.
After the disastorous flood last New Years Eve, many residents wondered if all the small unique places that make up what is so special about this little city would survive. Many residents and friends of the various business owners pitched in to assist the owners in cleaning up the muck and mess. Although a few places have gone under, it is nice to see so many back and to shop there for the holidays is a real treat once again.
What makes this place so special is the community spirit. Many of the shop keepers get to know everyone and soon are saying hello and calling you by name. They also don't mind if you are just a browser and the stores do seem to have a lot of really unique things.
