I worked here through my freshman and sophomore year in college. :)
The management here is awesome. They are very attentive and accommodating both towards their members and employees. Staff, the last time I visited, is very friendly. The gym is extremely clean. They go on towel runs, and floor checks at least 1 every 30 minutes. They have very nice locker rooms, although the sauna and steam room has been known to act up a lot - its common in many gyms though.
Its a very family friendly gym, although children can't workout upstairs, they have a childcare center, and awesome youth tennis programs (and adult programs too). Although I haven't taken lesson from the instructors there, I hear raving reviews from everyone I've talked to. Most people join for the tennis lessons and the indoor courts.
Only downside is that its quite pricey for a small club, but its worth if you work or live close by; there's tennis courts, rock climbing wall, cafe, pool, jacuzzi, showers, sauna, steam rooms, big locker rooms, and best of all the staff is very friendly. -

I've been a member here since 2006. It is not the best private gym (e.g. Bellevue Club) but it was close to my house, and most of all, it met my expectations in general. At that time, I would give 4 starts but things have changed bad lately and I am only giving 2 starts for the following reasons:
- Equipments: many equipments are out of order and they don't seem to care much at all. # of "broken" equipments only increases and nothing has been fixed. As of today, 100% eliptical machines are out of order (some different types are operating). One of eliptical machines was broken over a couple months.
- Hygiene: men's locker can be maintained better. First of all, I don't think shower booths (incl. curtains) are getting cleaned often enough. Also, some unpleasant "odor" presents all the time but got worse lately (about a week or so).
One interesting fact I noticed was that when I started there were about 12 trainers/instructors in this club but now I only see 5 (based on photos posted on the wall). Maybe the club is financially hurting??
If you are interested in joining this club, I suggest that you should check work out facilities as well as lockr room for sure. -

This is the most expensive fitness center on the Eastside, but with good reason. The facilities are top-notch, there are 4 indoor tennis courts (additional monthly fee), and a rock climbing wall.
I am used to paying the same monthly dues in the Bay Area of California and getting a LOT more (twice the cardio equipment, two floors of weight training, 8 free raquetball courts, and four free outdoor tennis courts, outdoor swimming pool, etc), but I had to cope with what I have here on the Eastside.
I only use the weight equipment and cardio machines I can only speak to those portions. The free weights section are top notch. There are two and a half sets of dumb bells so you will never have a problem getting to use the dumb bells you need since there are so many extras. There is a power rack which is essential to my training. There are 3 flat barbell benches, one incline and one decline. Unfortunately there is no military barbell pressing bench.
There are all kinds of bands, swiss balls, medicine balls, mats, balance equipment for people to use. I am a fan of the bosu balls myself, they are like half a swiss exercise ball.
The weight machines are decent and are a typical selection. There is a hack squat machine and a leg press machine as well.
One thing that has irked my lately is that some people do not replace the weights after using them. This impedes my workout by wasting my time. I think this is only a problem with certain rude members though.
The locker rooms use digital keypad magnetic locks and the showers are all separated and have curtains. The locker room has a weird burning smell near the entrance and the rest of it gets stuffy, but otherwise is generally very clean. There definitely needs to be more ventilation for the locker room though.
There is an additional monthly towel fee is you do not wish to bring your own towel, but the small sweat toweels are free to use. Sometimes they run out when they get busy because they do not have an on-site washing service.
Another nice thing about the facilities are the indoor pool and jacuzzi. There is usually a lifeguard on duty which I'm sure pleases the parents of young children.
Another thing that I irks me is the music that the gym plays throughout the facilities. It is easy-rock, light pop music which completely kills any work out activity level in my opinion. The music there will completely drain the testosterone out of any guy in the weight room. I was grossed out by the music seeping through my earbuds that I bought some isolation ear buds instead so I wouldn't have to listen to the craptastic music while squatting 225.
The staff are kind and friendly and the machines are very updated except for the precor and cycling machines. They just got two new reclining cycling machines, but the sitting one is still very old. There are only two cross training machines, but at the time I go they are usually not both used up. The treadmills all have LCD tvs and so do the cross training machines.
I would give this place 5 stars if they didn't charge extra for the activity tennis fees and expanded their cardio equipment and updated them. They would earn 6 stars if they expanded their hours. Their close time of 10pm is just too early for me! It would do wonders for everyone if they would close at 11. -

Love, love, love this club. I have always been a member of a health club in every city I have lived in. This is by far my fave. The club is clean, the staff is friendly and unpretentious. My 2 year old loves the Kids Club - I have been a member for about a year now and the staff is consistent. They also have a great Adventure Club during school breaks for the older ones - at a steal of a price. They swim, play tennis, play games etc.
We have no plans on switching clubs, thanks Sammamish Club! -

Sammamish Club is really nice and never too crowded (as Pro Club, for instance). It has a rock climbing facility, as well. Overall, it is rather a small sports club but everything is clean and kept up-to-date. They have a little deli, also.

My family and I have been members at Sammamish Club for as long as I can remember. I have never been part of any other sports club, but I must say that Samm Club really does do an amazing job. The facilities are always kept clean and the staff is incredibly courteous and welcoming.
I love the wide range of classes offered and the trainers are simply awesome. The tennis courts are also very nice. I haven't played much on them, but the rest of my family goes couple times a week. It really has become our second home. Though it's really family friendly, it's never too crowded and is really a place to escape, work out and have fun. -

We could not have been more disappointed with the Sammamish Club. Another reviewer mentioned the great aquatics, which was the exact reason we joined the club. They had an amazing swimming instructor, and the only way to have lessons with this instructor was to join the club. The truth is we were paying about $100/month for a club we never used, in addition to the costs of the lessons, but we asked and they said this was our only option to get the swimming lessons.
Here's the kicker though: After all of this, they fired our swimming instructor and replaced her with some teen aged kid in the middle of the session. We told them we were not interested in the new instructor, and that that we wanted to cancel our membership. Their response was that we would have to pay them another $250, as we had several months remaining on our contract.
Here's the email response from "Dawn":
"When someone joins the Sammamish Club we assume that they are going to taking part in the full membership experience. It is unfortunate that a choice has been made to discontinue (your) membership however, when (you) signed on to the Club (you) selected a preferred membership. If (you) had selected a regular month-month membership then the termination would be a simple 30 day notice. I am not certain why (you) selected this type of membership but maybe more consideration should have been given to the agreement?
Hmmmmm, let me think about that. If only we had the insight to know you were going to fire the instructor we joined the club for, we never would have made such a dumb decision.
This was quite an expensive lesson for us. -

My family (wife and two sons ages 9 & 7) have been members for over two years. First, the staff and service is really good. We pay the additional tennis court fee to play as many times as possible throughout the month; if you're a tennis player then this is a good deal. We also pay the monthly towel service so we don't have to remember to bring out towels each time we visit. My wife thinks the actual 'work out' facility is good and has what she needs. I think it is good as well, especially since it has some of the same 'contraptions' that are found at my physical therapist's office. We joined for the indoor swimming pool. Although it can be bigger, it works out really well for us because it robs me and my wife of using the weather as an excuse to not exercise with our kids. Fortunately, my kids got into tennis and we routinely plan our Saturdays and Sundays around tennis and swimming. The locker room facility is also convenient because you only need your membership card to use a locker room; you do not need to bring a lock! The staff is amazing! I have only had maybe one or two instances where I was annoyed or surprised with the lack of customer service. There are four indoor tennis courts and the tennis staff is really nice and knowledgeable. Ok, there is a premium price you have to pay. This is not 24 Hour Fitness or Gold's Gym. But, I think it is worth it for our family because there is something for each of us. At times throughout the year, the club does a membership drive promotion where it will waive the initiation fee and you can pay less per month if you commit to a membership for at least ___ months. Oh, although we did not use it, I think the club has a small daycare facility. If you have kids and you need something for everyone, then you should check this place out.
