I know that donating to charity is supposed to be a selfless act, but donating here was pretty much the worst.
I walked in with a big box that was overflowing with male and female clothing, all in good shape. I was completely unacknowledged as I stood in the store entrance balancing the heavy box on my knee and stuttered at the distracted cashiers. They ignored me. I walked in a little further with eyebrows raised, trying to get their attention... Nothing. One of the usual crazy-eyed customers pointed me toward a huge bin and squawked at me that donations normally go there. I gave a nervous smile and began dumping my clothes into the bin... Still no acknowledgment from the staff. At the last second, feeling a bit snubbed, I kept a couple of items. I looked pleadingly at the staff one more time as I walked out the door with my mostly empty box, just hoping to be reassured that I had in fact put my clothing in the right place and that someone would now be able to purchase it, but still nothing. So I left.
What if I'd wanted a receipt? I don't think that was gonna happen.
As for the shopping experience, I've never found anything particularly exciting here and it is always pretty dirty, crowded, and full of your usual interesting (read: frightening) Central Square clientele.
