Ode to Sal

Against the FlatIrons I smell your bread
I order a prosciuto for breakfast
I order a hot cappi for lunch
I eat the other half for dinner
I look forward to the morning

This is our company's Friday Treat.  We go for the Prime Rib sandwich and hold on for dear life until 4 pm-ish when we leave.

The Prime Rib is fantastic.  BUT, make sure you bring your A-game when you order, maybe hang back a bit and watch a few other people before you step up to the plate.  They can smell Rookie-ness in first timers.  I've been there a few times, with veterans too, and still can tell.

The size of the sandwich is HUGE.  Little tip, eat half and save the rest for dinner.  You will be thankful.  Much like Zachary's Pizza in Berkeley/Oakland, it is even better a few hours later.

We go on Friday because it ends the work week right and let's you know it's the weekend!s

I used to work across the street from Salvaggio's (did it move?) and eat there once or twice a week. I found that it was the most representative sampling of an Italian East Coast deli.

After waiting in crowd to order my sandwich, I would return to my office as co-workers stared curiously as I relished each bite of my fresh mozzarella, roasted red pepper, and balsamic vinegar sandwich on a crispy roll.

Even though I live back on the East Coast again, I plan to return to Salvaggio's the next time I am in Boulder to order this sandwich once again.

Went to Salvaggio's for the first time today for lunch.  They had a variety of sandwiches on the menu, but hey, looking at the name of this place, how could you not order the Italian sandwich?

The sandwiches come in two sizes; so I opted for the large Italian sub for $7.75.  What a monster sandwich!  It has been a long time since I had a sandwich with what I call the fatty meats; pepperoni, salami, etc.  I love Turkey and Chicken, but the meats do not have the same rich, almost creamy taste of a meat with super high fat content.  It seems to almost melt in your mouth....
Add some cheese, mayonnaise, mustard, onions, tomatoes, lettuce and pepperoncinis, along with olive oil and salt and pepper....mmwwwaaahhh  delicious.

And the bread...  So many times Italian rolls are hard and tough to eat.  This roll was slightly crunchy on the outside yet soft on the inside; honestly the best Italian roll I have ever had at a sub place.

Their large sandwich can easily be stretched to two meals...   After eating that today I need to go run at least ten miles, but damn it was worth it!

Check this place out for sure!

Salvaggios is just delicious and its new location  on pearl street is so accessible you can't afford to not go there.  If you're not sure where it is, just follow your growling stomach.  It will find it.

Yes, I like these sandwiches.  A good source of breakfast in the morning, or whenever you take it.  Otherwise, think the veggie options may be lacking but actually we need this to restore balance in Boulder.  Salvaggio's is very...meaty.  I like the bread.  Unique.  Has a certain somethin' to it.  I definitely think you would like it.  Oh, and I think my new roommate may work here.

They make their own bread which is a bit crusty on the outside and nice and soft on the inside, with a tasty sprinkle of cornmeal on the bottom. To be straight with you, I've never ordered anything but the Italian because it's so dang good. When you find perfection, stick with it. They offer such a wide range of Italian meats, I really don't know what half of them are.

The only reason they lost a star is because their sides are pretty awful. I was tempted by their macaroni salad once and ended up trowing the whole thing out.

Fine, superb, exacting Italian sandwiches.  Big, delicious, so that you don't even care you are cutting the crap out of your mouth with epic amounts of crusty bread.

In my opinion, the Salvaggio's on Pearl Street is the best place for sandwiches in Boulder. The bread is freshly baked, soft on the inside and crusty on the outside. The meats they use are always of the highest quality (Boar's Head). I found that the other Salvaggio's locations in Boulder are NOT quite as good as the original on Pearl Street. One of the best things on the menu is the chicken salad, which is only available during summer months. It's one of the best I've ever had!

Best bets: Everything!

If there is one thing I miss most about moving from Boulder it is Salvaggio's.  Homemade bread, boars head meat sliced in front of you.  Hand made with whatever toppings you want.  Huge subs that will fill you up easily.

I used to live above the location, now closed, just off 28th and Colorado.  They used to have a grill and made the most amazing cheese steak.  The Pearl location is just as good this one was but can't vouch for the other locations.

Best prime rib sub in town. A bit too much bread even though it is freshly baked for the amount of meat given but otherwise a mighty fine sandwich. Love the choice of horseradish, mustard, mayo, etc. you get with each order. They're from the Boston area so they score points already just for that.  The rest of the meats are Boarshead brand. Try the make-your-own sandwich option with prosciutto, fresh mozarrella, and tomato or whatever.

The large sub is just right for me but the smaller sandwich and soup is a good choice too. Especially the chowda.

The location on Pearl St. is good for the fried steak and cheese but otherwise stick to the original location for everything else.

So I've only been to the Salvaggios on the hill but I really do love their breakfast sandwiches. Whenever me and my friends are in the mood to splurge on something probably not so healthy for us we get one of their egg and sausage breakfast sandwiches. They truly melt in your mouth.
