This is one of my favorite bars in my neighborhood. The bartenders remembered me after I had only been there once. It's never too crowded, even on the weekends. They have excellent bar food- grilled calamari, grilled chicken. It's nice to be able to eat healthy at a bar. Not a dive, not upscale, it's just a great place. I always seem to be able to takeover the jukebox. Bonus.

I'll be here again and again. Great place. Watch out for the drunk douche who lives upstairs. I see him every time I am there. He is quite amusing, never really bothers anyone. But watch out for him, if only for entertainment purposes.

Two words: NEVER AGAIN.

This place was a disgrace to Chicago bars.

Our waiter was such an ass. Never filled up our drink once. We sat outside on the patio to enjoy the nice afternoon, and we actually had to walk inside to the bar, each time we needed our drink refilled.

Keep in mind, there was only one, yes, ONE, other guest in the entire restaurant/bar while we were there. How overwhelming.

Then, he never brought out the bill. Once again, we had to walk back inside to the bar to receive our bill. If that's not irritating enough, he just arrogantly stood there--smackdab RIGHT IN FRONT of us--and watched us calculate our tip out in cash for him. Hell, he should of just stuck his hand out with a sign that read "place tip in hand".

By the time we finished our food (which was nothing to rave about. At all.), I was completely put out with this place. Our server approximately spoke about 1 full sentence to us, the entire time we were there.

NEVER AGAIN.

I have to roll out with four stars to Salukis.  I admit that the decor stinks but everything else is hot.  Solid prices on drinks and the scallops are surprisingly good.  The food is very similar to Dublins in the triangle so you know it is decent.  It's my neighborhood go to and for that 4 stars is appropriate.

Like some other reviewers, Salukis is one of my favorite neighborhood bars.  You can't go wrong with the food and the staff is friendly.   I really like the beef nachos and burgers.  Not a huge fan of the salads but who likes salad anyway.

Check this place out!

I've always had an Alice in Wonderland kind of feeling in Saluki Bar.  Things just seemed a little surreal and a bit awkward.  I think this is due to its smaller size and that it's primarily a locals bar - so you definitely feel like an outsider if you're not a regular.  Or maybe its due to its sheer devotion to the Southern Illinois University Salukis.

Recently remodeled to expand the bar (and take out the quieter dining area, which seemed to often be empty), the place has more of a complete pub feel to it now. It's somewhat dark with a few televisions turned to sports.  Due to the lack of complete TV saturation like other bars on Wells (i.e. the Fireplace Inn), its not a full blown sports bar in my opinion.  This makes it a decent option if your looking for a spot to watch a game without being overwhelmed by TVs.  Now that the weather has turned, they have a decent sized outdoor seating area with some nice tables facing Wells.

The menu is a bit more exciting than typical bar fare, with some pasta dishes and fancy chicken plates.  I have to admit the food feels a little classier than the setting, but maybe that's not a bad thing.

Overall, Saluki Bar is adequate, either for an occasional bite to eat or to take in a game.  However, I can't see myself becoming a regular here.

The night I came in here, either it was official "Booty-Call Meet up" or "How Many Hookers Can I Find?" night. All in all, it made for an eventful people watching experience.

Has anyone else noticed this before?

Great Neighborhood Bar.  Service was excellent.  Food was good.  These sort of places, I usually ask what is good instead of guessing.
Lots of TV's without having it feel like you are in a NASA control room.

Edit:  Went there last night.  Very hungover from the night before.  We had a group of about 8, and guess what???  The only Waitress in the place WAS ACTUALLY WORKING!!! We had very attentive, professional service.  I am not busting on this place at all.  It is just such a rarity in this town to get decent service.  Thus, raising this to 5 stars in by book.

I always have a great time here.  The food is pretty good.  I love Joe behind the bar, he sings along with the juke box.  You can play darts, shoot pool.  Reasonably priced drinks too.

There is not too much more to say.  This is a simple bar, neighborhood place that is welcoming to others.  It is a nice oasis in the Old Town/Gold Coast area if you're looking to do something low key.

Stopped in for a reunion with some SIU alums.  Service was very good, and the chicken finger appetizer, with fries, was VERY VERY good.  When I order chicken fingers, I don't expect much, but these were very very good.  Service was quick, friendly, and professional.  Guiness drafts and Jager shots followed our snack...can't seem to remember much after that.  But the chicken fingers were unforgettable, and the service was very good.  I recommend it!  I'll be back!

Saluki has the nicest staff and amazing food. I live nearby so I'm here at least once a week and the food will surprise you.  The fried chicken fingers are yummy, but the revolving specials are really incredible.  A friend had the lamb stew a few weeks ago and has been raving about it ever sense.

Saluki has a Tuesday night trivia. I've been to better bar trivia's, but the laid back nature of this trivia is sometimes what I prefer.

Went there for a little anniversary thing with some friends and the experience was okay.  Good music and okay booze.  The bar food was a waste of money.  Fries covered in little squares of American cheese slices doesn't make it "cheese fries" and the calimari was flavorless and overcooked. If you want a low key escape, this is the place but if you want a wow factor for an exciting night out, walk down the street and find something else.

The chicken finger app here is to die for..alittle pricey..but it is a HUGE portion..enough to share between 2 people and its served on a bed of french fries...honey mustard is tasty - thats why we go here a few times a month. Nice place to meet up with friends.

I came here other day for lunch. Food was okay, owned by same people as Dublins so menu was similar. I had gigantic burger with lots of water.  Beer was tempted but it was kind of early to start drinking I thought. They have lots of tv's to watch but very small bar with few outdoor seating.  Bartender was very nice and attentive at service.  I walked by this place at night. It was different atomsphere with lots of people and good music playing.

This place has the best hamburgers!  It's also a good place to just have a beer, watch a game or relax with friends.  It's a great neighborhood bar.

This is a great spot to go to for a relaxed evening with good music and great service.  It is a smaller place and never too crowded.  The seating is nice and the ambience is soothing.

An SIU bar, which suprised me.  It's pretty small, but they have NFL Sunday Ticket, and they have some decent beer choices.  More of a middle-aged crowd.  Check out all the SIU ID's in the entryway...

This place has a nice low-key, chill vibe to it.
Staff is super nice.
Food is good, but a bit expensive for some C.Fingers and Fries.
Nice place to just gather with some friends.

I've been going to this bar almost since this location opened 5 years ago.  Great staff, the new menu is amazing.  Great place to go and watch sports.  Definitely  a step up from your average dive bar, but not so swank that you feel like you ahve to dress up to go there.  Never too crowded, it's pretty rare when you cannot get a table or seat.  All in all, a fun, relaxing place to hang out with a few friends.
