This is a really good beach. Not to crowded and not to many rocks. It was pretty calm and relaxing. Your really feel like your on vacation. Out of all the beaches this was the one that didn't have to many warning signs.
Great place to snorkel in December. Saw an Eel in the reef. Hang out at night with locals and have a beer. Great entertainment provided nightly by the locals. Thanks Allen and Roy!
We were in Kauai from December 26th until Jan 6th. It turns out that most of Kauai's beaches are not safe to swim in the winter. Poipu is supposed to be the best swimming beach, but there were too many sharp rocks/coral to make it a pleasant swim. Salt Pond had calm water, without too many rocks or too many people. It was the best swimming beach we went to during our stay.
one of my favorite spots on Kauai. this beach is a little more remote than others, and therefore less populated. you can camp right there, and there are pavilions, grills, and restrooms on the grassy area. you'll find locals camping out and BBQing, as well as spearfishing and using the salt flats. this is apparently the only salt flat on the island which is still used - i don't think you're supposed to enter unless you're a local and/or know what you're doing, so i checked it out from a distance. there was great tidepooling and okay snorkeling (we were there on kind of a yucky day though). lots of chickens all around and a nice sandy strip of beach to relax on with rocks to explore. pretty calm waves and a beautiful spot!!!! there was just something really special about this beach... it was a really authentic, pleasant experience and also extremely photogenic. i got a ton of great shots here.
