Having to go to Salt Lake City for work and given three choices for hotels, I was extremely happy that I chose this Marriott.

I'm not sure whether it was this hotel or the general politeness of SLC, but I found I was treated very well.  The front desk always greeted me when I came in, and by name.

I had to request for a microwave, fridge, and crib since my baby came along.  The microwave and fridge was probably older than me, but it worked fine.  The room was a good size and clean.

As for the internet, it is not free, but if you have a room near the lobby (I was on the 4th floor but near the elevator) you can connect to the lobby wifi for free.  Score.

The first night we ate there, we ordered a sandwich and appetizer.  The appetizer came a couple minutes after the sandwich, which is no biggie to me, but they apologized and gave us the appetizer for free.  Great service.

There are a lot of amenities like indoor pool and gym that I didn't use, but it's nice that it's all there.

Finally, I didn't realize SLC was a huge football town (U of U) but this Marriott has the entire team and staff stay the night before the game.  They even have their pregame meetings in the bottom floor, which you can see from the lobby.

All in all, great hotel in a great location of SLC if you want to be near downtown but still a little secluded.

Stayed at this Marriott while on business for a couple of days. I was able to get in for a couple of days at $79/night which is more than reasonable for the Marriott. It's a nice hotel and upon walking in you are greeted with a nice large lobby and windows that are probably 4 - 5 story tall. They have this nice glass chandelier in the main lobby too. While the decor is dated early 90's, the front area is kept clean and nice. They even have several large comfortable chairs in the lobby to sit and relax in.

The front desk is surprisingly small, but that's ok. They also have a small little snack bar in this area that have all your basic candies, ice cream, and snacks since they don't have snack vending machines on the floors. It also has a couple of other personal items for sale as well in case you forgot something and don't want to go down to WalMart.

I checked in and went to my room. The room was a good size double queen. It came with a small desk area and a small sitting area with over sized chair. There was an armour with a CRT TV inside and the room comes with basic cable and HBO. The bathroom was clean and the sink and shower were in the same room. Overall the room was nice. Room service was good and my room was cleaned every day with fresh new towels laid out. The bed was comfortable and didn't have any problems sleeping at night. They also did a very good job sound proofing the rooms as I heard very little the nights noise from either my neighbors or outside my room the nights i stayed here.

This Marriot also has a gym, indoor pool, sports bar, restaurant, and a mini Starbucks. They also have a business center that's kind of like a cubic on the 1st floor which seemed a bit weird considering all the rooms they have here. I did have breakfast here one more and they do have a pretty good size breakfast buffet. I ended up getting their French Toast special and that was a good size but I just have a problem paying $11 for breakfast. The service there was a bit confused, but friendly. Had different people approaching me at different times asking me for my order or if I needed anything else.

As to rating, normally I would probably give this Marriott about a 3.5 and would round up to 4, but I'm not for one reason, their internet. While they do offer internet, you pay $10 a day for it. Me being here on business, I did it but wrote it off. I know it's a money maker especially on people like me who need access to the internet for work, but honestly, it still bothers me. I've been to Holiday Inns and Comfort Inns that offer free internet, you're telling me the Marriott couldn't do this. So for that, they get knocked down a star get a 3 star rating.

I am a planner.  As in, I plan everything months in advance.  Therefore, when I decided to go to Sundance on the spur of the moment, I was distressed.  The hotel selection was tiny.  My options were spend $300+/ night in Park City or stay in SLC for a fraction of the cost.  I chose the latter.

For a mere $99 per night, I found a Marriott that had free wireless (thanks to my platinum standing), free breakie, free parking, and a comfortable bed.  The extra 25 minute commute to see movies was worth it.

The work-out room was decent.  The location was not.  To get there, you have to walk through the lobby and then past the bar.  It wasn't so bad in the morning but after my 6PM work-out, I had about 50 eyes on me since my walk way is in the back of a big screen TV.  Um, awkward?

On my second night, room service skipped cleaning our room.  It wasn't the end of the world but it was noted.

Overall, I am glad that I was able to find a deal since there were none for the rest of the trip.

A very good property. They've done some very nice renovations since I was there several years ago. The lobby is laid out very elegantly, with a cafe and bar sitting at a lower mezzanine level. The staff is very friendly, plus the rooms are clean, beautifully decorated, and their A/C is quiet. Parking is not a problem at this hotel. It's free, but there's no valet. Expect to pay between $160-$220 per night depending on the time of year and applicable discount (AAA, etc.).

As Jerry J. stated, this Marriott is large with a VERY friendly and personable staff.  It has an interesting layout; it feels almost like a cruise ship with most of the rooms in a circle.

It's definitely not an ugly hotel; it's elegant but I do not like the Chihulyesque sculpture in the middle. Also, due to renovations, the cooling/heating system is down right now.  Since I'm only here for a night, I'm not too upset about it; however, they said that it would be running soon.

If you are visiting the U, this Marriott is located in a perfect spot next to campus.  You should ask about a discounted rate for visiting prospective students.  It may only be grad students, though.  I paid $90  for the night.

One other thing...like so many hotels nowadays, you have to pay $10 a day for internet access.  Really for all of the money we plop down, you cannot offer your guests free wireless.  I mean I can go into any neighborhood cafe and buy a 60 cent soda to use their wireless!  That's definitely one of my pet peeves.

I spent a week here for work.  CLean Sheet, Clean towels, Comfy bed.  Carpet needed a little cleaning and the remote contro was out of batteries.  Everything else from the food to the Bar waas acceptable.  My stay was uneventful
