We decided to go here because of other yelper reviews. We think this place has the best carnitas tacos in Fremont so far. We took away 1 star because you're only allowed 2 cups for salsa and the sauce on the wet burrito is weirdly sweet.

This is a spot that I hope never leaves Fremont. I love everything I get here including their yummy horchata. The super burrito will destroy you but you really can't pass something that awesome up. There's really nothing bad to say about this place except that the punk police likes to post up behind the building and give people speeding tickets on Fremont Blvd. Not your fault SP.

Yum! I usually go to this place for burritos, quesadillas, and hard tacos! Their carne asada is tasty. Their veggie burrito is really good.

I finally noticed this place when we popped into Smart & Final today, and it's a pretty good find. I was just looking for a snack, so I got two tacos, one carne asada and one al pastor, and they were great. They've got a pretty good salsa bar and their spicy one is really nice and not overpowering.

There's also a good selection of soft drinks included small and large bottles of Mexican Coke and 7-Up, Jarritos, etc. My wife had an horchata, which she described as chalky.

Overall, I'd go back to try the rest of their extensive menu.

I thought this place was closed down a couple of weeks ago but fortunately it was only for remodeling!
The bad paint job is all gone!

This place has the next nachos (ground beef!)
the salsa is tasty and non-spicy is available for people who can't eat that much spicy like me.

Sometimes I can't finish the nachos and need a friend to help. This place is great

I really enjoy eating at this place. They have a broad menu with all sorts of traditional Mexican dishes, as well as taqueria favorites (burritos, nachos, quesadillas and more). I really like this place for three specific reasons- they have great seafood dishes, the best vegetarian burrito I have ever had, and the place itself has a lot of charm. It totally reminds me of the run-down shack style eateries you see in coastal areas in Mexico, and even Chile (where I am from). Try it!!

This place is not a Mexican Restaurant, but rather a Mexican Shack, and not in a derogatory sense.  It's in an old free-standing building which used to house one of those old school burger joints, so KQN, you're Foster's Freeze assumption was not too far off.  The windows are cracked, the propping of the door serves as their HVAC system and the paint job is well "a job".  But all this gives it a roadhouse feel, which i like, and they do honest Mexican taqueria food, also which i like.  No shiny tiles, no El Machino to churn out fresh flour tortillas, and no fancy sauces with the word "chipotle" attached to it.  They do Mexican comfort food and this is where i go for comforting, and i'm not even Mexican.

I've tried several things here, tacos are ok, three bite deals at about $1.25, tostadas de ceviche are ok also, but where this place hits home are in their soups and stews, most notably their menudo.  Rich, hot broth with an earthy red hue, loaded with whatever meat they put in there (all i know is that it's tender and delish!) and there is no hominy.  Some may like it, and i don't mind the corn product, but when it comes all meat, its all good.  Hot corn tortillas, crumbled red chiles, squeeze of lime, damn makes me want to create a hangover just to eat the stuff.  Their chicken soup is also note worthy.  Basic, good ol fashioned chunky soup, like grandma would make, basic seasoning and vegetables.  They do a spicy version also for those who can hang.  And at $6.50 for a large bowl with tortillas and a side of rice, you will get your fill without even denting your wallet.

They also sell sodas imported from Mexico, even Cokes in glass bottles.  Someone once told me that American-made sodas at some point switched the sweeteners in their recipes from cane sugar (sucrose) to high fructose corn syrup, which i'm sure was an economic decision.  But the Mexican Coke still uses the old sweetener and from what i'm told there is a difference.  i don't know cuz i can't hang with all that sugar (im a diet soda drinker) but if anybody is curious as to how Coke used to taste back in the day, then here it is.  You'll know Mexican Coke just by the bottle.

So here it is, the place where i go to get re-charged after a nights of partying.  it's the little shack off on the corner of the Smart n Final parking lot.  i don't think they have a visible sign, and i can't even remember how i found this place, but i'm glad i did.

Been here I don't know how many times now and I keep finding myself headed back here nearly every time I am in the area, which is saying something.

I give them 5 stars for:

- Their FANTASTIC chips and their extensive salsa bar that has something for everyone's level of spicy-ness.

- Their chili verde burrito.  Heck, their chili verde anything.  The sauce is amazing and their meat is always deliciously tender and seasoned just right.

- Their menudo.  I haven't caught their menudo dish as often as I'd like to, but the times I have, it's been superb with the super tender tripe, hominy (I got hominy in my menudo from what I recall, but someone else said they didn't?), and spices and flavorings juuust right.

- Their lengua.  Good stuff, like their chili verde.  Particularly tasty in burritoes or as taco fillings.

- Their hotchata.  A bit chalky - you can definitely tell that it's a horchata - but quite good.

- Their cook.  The older man who's the primary cook makes excellent suggestions the times I've asked for suggestions and his chili verde, lengua, and chili colorado? I think? and fish dishes are just YUM.

- Their host/guy at the register.  Nice guy who gives nice service and always gives me fresh hot chips.

- Their pricing.  Under 10 bucks a person usually when I eat there unless I get fish dishes or really big dishes and the horchata.

- The amount of food.  Lots of it and it's such good stuff and it's nice and fresh.

- Nice small almost 'shack' like setting.  Cozy is a good word to describe it and I've oftentimes found myself chit chatting with various members of the cooking team there and getting hungrier by the second.

So go there, eat there, enjoy, and find yourself craving for more when you are in the area at a later time!

Well, if you drive right past this place, I wouldn't be surprised. It sits on a lot next to the Smart and Final store, and it's not much to look at. It's rundown looking, and has faded old colors on it. But if you don't stop in for a bite, you'll be missing out on cheap, good Mexican food!

I got the Super Quesadilla with chicken. They're huge! For $5 you can't beat it... I couldn't finish it! The home made guacamole is so delicious, and you also get sour cream and pico de gallo with it. It's a meal!

My friend got the carne asade nachos, which were also VERY GOOD.

Try it, friends, you'll like it. Ignore the faded silk flowers in the vases around the windows, and just dig in to some fresh, yummy basic Mexican food!

This place is a bit of a chaotic dive from the outside. 70's architecture with a dated, bad green. red paint job. Looks like a deranged Foster's Freeze or some-like fast food joint. As Shari D says however this place is a treat.

Food is fairly inexpensive and as soft tacos are my bar, they're my favorite in Fremont for the time being. I went to Taqueria Las Vegas last week and although they have a better looking joint and a more sit down style menu than taqueria, the food is not as good. I tried the  carnitas, asada, lengua and al pastor tacos and at 1.25/per they were quite good. The overhead menu is quite sparse and not until I left and got the togo menu did I realize they make a lot more fare than the overhead says. In fact the overhead doesn't even mention tacos so I had to ask the cashier. That should have been my first clue. Tacos, burritos, enchiladas, seafood entrees, etc.,  spanned the selection on the togo menu but not listed in the store.  They have menudo and chile rellenos (my other bars) so I'll have to test how those go but as far as Taqueria goods, this place is the real thing.
