11 reviews for Sal's NY Pizza
By far the best NY Style Pizza in the Ashburn area, probably in Loudoun. The crust is thin and crispy (but not dry), just enough sauce and high quality cheese. Calzones are good and the spumoni is brought down from Brooklyn by the owner and as good as it gets.
My only complaint is their very limited delivery hours and $25 minimum on delivery.
Sal's has good NY style pizza, but nothing to write home about. The atmosphere is trying to be too fancy, at least for a pizza parlor -- I like hole-in-the-wall pizza places where the food is first, the decor second.

Yeah I guess the guy that runs it is from New York. But other than that I don't feel or taste much in this place that is NY. Customer service sucks, in my opinion. Especially when compared to NYC where business owners are hustlers out to please their customers and make a buck.
This place is typical Northern Virginia; slow service and disinterested staff who come off as if they are doing YOU a favor by providing the product, instead of acting grateful for your business.
The pizza isn't bad but slices are pricey.
Sal's is the next best thing to being in NYC! Those who rate it low apparently have never been or eaten NY style pizza. We love it, I just wish their delivery was better.
Closest thing to NY style pizza in Ashburn area, even better than Manhatten pizza. We tried subs and I wasn't impressed with those. I rarely get it for dinner/take out. I swing in here for a slice when I'm in the shopping center.
For this area, it's the best pizza I've had. On a scale of 1-10 overall, I'd give the pizza an 8. The crust was soft yet crunchy. There was just the right amount of sauce, cheese, and grease.
Do it.
Great NY style pizza. Authentic zeppolis. Great Rice balls. Like being back in Brooklyn.
Love this pizza. It's the next best thing to Tony's in Fair Lakes that we have found since we moved here. Sal is great, but when he is not there; the service is NO GOOD!!!!
Decided to check this place out, I agree in supporting local business as well. When we arrived we had to ask what to do next, we were not greeted at all (deer in headlights). We ordered our food at the counter, Med. Cheese Pizza, soup, drinks, Zeppoli and some spumoni (as mentioned in reviews). Our number was called and we picked up the soup. The owner just looked at us and was like "Can I help you", "yes, we ordered a cheese pizza and drinks". He said our pizza would be out in a few mins. and gave us our drinks. The pizza arrived about 2 mins. later. The pizza was huge compared to my idea of a medium (1 star). The pizza crust was good, sauce was okay, cheese was okay. I`d say New York style, but not New York taste.....I would order it again. I always get a cheese pizza from any new pizza place to taste. After finishing our pizza we asked for our desserts. You can check out the pictures I posted for visuals. The Spumoni was served in a small dixie cup (yes the kind that you use in the bathroom). I`ve never had NYC spumoni, not sure what the serve it in either. But the thing almost fell over all over me. I put it on a paper plate I hadn`t used. It was good (2nd star), not creamly like the stuff you can buy in the store. Its worth a try. Finally our Zeppolis arrived. I would call these fried dough with some powdered sugar. Nothing speical. I might come back on a busier night if I was around the area. Not sure if I would make a special trip to vist again. Didn`t feel the family friendlyness talked about in other reviews, maybe it was an off day.
sal's is great! we love their pizza and sandwiches. they are always friendly. i am happy that they are a family based business, and we'd rather support that than the larger chains. highly recommend them - even if you're just stoppin' in for a slice.
Fuhgeddabowdit. This is the best TRUE New York pizza south of Perth Amboy! You will feel like you are family when you go to Sal's. The pizza is fantastic. They make each pie to your order. And YES: they have a truly extra-large pizza, an 18 inch pie! Customize your toppings. You'll be so happy you found this gem of a place. Don't leave without trying Sal's famous garlic knots or the most delicious homemade zeppoli you've had since you were 10 years old & going to the San Gennaro Festival. Sal brings them to your table hot from the fryer. He has a paper bag of confectioner's sugar too. He pops a zeppoli in the bag, closes it, & shakes it up. Out comes the most deelish dessert you've ever had! But you can't skip the spumoni, straight outta Brooklyn (honestly). Sal & his wife drive up once a week (!) to pick up the ice cream, put it in coolers, & bring it home to Ashburn. Sal's also has the most heavenly Italian ices (chocolate, lemon, or chocolate chip) that are hand-dipped just for you. Be sure to ask Sal, Doreen (his wife), or one of their five kids (they work in the restaurant too) to show you the proper way to eat an Italian ice. No spoons allowed! When I'm at Sal's, I'm treated like a member of the family. You'll love it!
