Salon Ya-Ya is where I go to get my hair did. Courtney is one of the best hair stylists I've ever had, and being a guy, hair appointments aren't usually something I look forward to.
I've done the Great Clips/Supercuts thing and it never works out. I always end up getting a horrible haircut at the worst possible time (you should see my sisters wedding pictures), so I needed a hair cutter who would give me a comfortable experience but also great results.
I found out about Courtney from the Nashville Scene. Her dad's a pretty well known drummer around town, and being the daughter of a musician helps her understand the sort of image they need to project. Marilyn, the owner is great as well, and they have been like family to me and my roommates, all of which have started getting their hair cut there.
Obviously, I can't speak for their women's styling, but a lot of my friends' girlfriends have enjoyed the work they've done as well. They also have a great line of hair and grooming products. No matter which stylist you get, you can't go wrong with Salon Ya Ya.
I am a Belmont student, and I have been to the same horrible hairdresser at home for at least 10 years. Let me just say that Wendy did an excellent job with my hair, and it was the first time I didn't cry after a haircut in years.The price was very affordable, cute atmosphere, and everyone is very friendly. I would absolutely recommend Salon Ya Ya to anyone.
I found this lil gem of a spot after a visit to the dentist's office in the same building. I've been in what I call a bad hair cut cycle ever since my former cutter/stylist whatever you want to call it up and moved out of state. I decided to give Ya Ya a call and was surprisingly fit in the same day I called with Marilyn. She did an amazing job and made me feel very welcome. All the girls there are exceptionally friendly. I haven't visited in a while as I've been shaving my head...I'll definitely be back in the future.

I moved here from NYC where you could always find good deals on haircuts in great salons because they had junior stylists that charged about half of what the senior stylists charged.
I couldn't find anything like that here until Salon YaYa.
It's wonderful. Windy does a great job on my hair, and the prices are excellent. From what I can see, ALL thestylists do great work - and they're friendly. I've been in more than a few salons where everybody looked miserable, so I really appreciate the rapport they've got going here. The place is tucked away in the parking garage of the Kinnard Building, which feels like this special, secret place. The interior of the salon is well designed and kept meticulously clean. Give this salon a chance, and I'm sure you'll keep coming back again and again.
I went to Salon Yaya yesterday for the first time. Let me preface this review by explaining how terrified I am of going to a new hairdresser. My senior year of high school, I went to a new place, asked for a chin length cut, and to my horror the buzzers suddenly appeared at the back of my head and it was too late to stop. So now, 9 years later and I finally have long hair again, I am VERY protective of it. Keri Lyn did my cut and highlights, and she was extremely prompt, professional, listened to me and followed my wishes. She is friendly and attentive, and I now have a new true hairdressing love in my life. Yay! The entire staff was cool, they are not competitive or gossipy, it was just laid back, clean, and professional. She paid great attention to my needs, and I will no doubt be returning.
