I would highly recommend John Young at Salon U. He's the best hair stylist I have ever been to. Everybody that I run into loves my hair since I changed to John about a year ago. He has great ideas and knows what shape and color would look best for me. He knows his stuff, and is very friendly to boot. The salon itself has a great feel, modern & warm.
Salon U is great. Scott Finley runs it with his wife Erica, and do it in great taste. It's upscale and very hip. Scott cut my hair for many years before I moved to Los Angeles and still does when I visit Austin. He's as good as they come for mens hair. They cost a little bit more than the place in the mall, but there is really no comparison. Get over here if you want the best.
A friend recommended this salon, and I'm glad I checked it out! My appointment was with one of the owners, Erica, and she was very friendly and fun to chat with. She and her husband run a very nice establishment -- upscale, but not snooty in the least. We had a good discussion about what I was looking for, and I felt Erica really listened and "got it" before diving in. I'll be going back, for sure!
The staff is so friendly and talented. Their color is excellent and they always leave you looking so much better than before. This is an upscale salon.
