I love going to Salon Soule! The atmosphere is so comfortable and it's super cute.
I get my hair done by Polina and she always does a fantastic job! She always has a good idea of what she wants to do with your hair based on your preferences. I've let her cut, style and color my hair. It helps that she has been doing my hair for almost 3 years now, even before she was at Salon Soule. She is one of my friends from high school and she even styled my hair for senior prom!
Only downside is the parking - sometimes it gets ridiculous if you park in the back. I was once stuck there for almost 20 min because I had to make like a million-point turn since I was blocked in by other cars.
Okay so I have lived in the bay area now for 3 years and had a really hard time finding a hair dresser that didn't cost me my morgage and actually listened when I said just cut off a little.. I went to Amy and she was wonderful! She was on time ( a big pet peeve of mine), did exactly what I asked and I left there so happy and still had enough money to go get lunch... It has been 6 wks now and I still love my hair and will be going in soon for my next appt.
Thanks Amy
I LOVE Salon Soule! I've been going to Deb since I've had hair, and she's been to a few salons, but is now at Salon Soule. Deb is a great stylist and colorist, and I would trust her with my life!
The salon itself is very cute, in an old house that's been turned into a business. Parking is very tight so I'd say get there early in case they're busy. Prices are reasonable, but don't expect to pay what you'd pay at a supercuts. It's not cheap, but depending on the stylist you're going to, it's worth it!
Get to know Corey who works reception. He's amazing! He works wonders on appointments and is always a happy face to see!
I think this salon is so cute. Shannon was my stylist there. I loved her. The only reason I stopped going there is because of financial issues and with tip it was costing me $60 a pop. I recommend them as everyone coming out the door looks great! Love their location too.
Salon soule is great because of Jill Rinehart!!!! I have been getting my hair cut and colored by her for over 4 years and have NEVER been dissapointed in what she has done for me. She is SUCH A FUN PERSON to talk to also! She is always in a good mood and always makes me feel happier when I leave than I did when I came in. (Plus, she is absolutely GORGEOUS!) So if you are looking for a new hairdresser, or looking for someone to give good advice on what looks good, she is the one! She has an excellent eye for what looks good for certain people! Enjoy! And I PROMISE you will not be dissapointed.

I highly recommend Carey! She did amazing things with my hair and she was very easy to talk to.
On April 30th, I had a benign brain tumor removed. A craniotomy was performed on my skull. My skull was shaved in the shape of a horse-shoe. My wedding date was set for July 19th. As you can imagine I was freaked out by the fact that my hair would be nowhere near the needed length to be able to cover the scar in time for the wedding. Several weeks after the surgery, a friend of mine referred me to Peggy (a co-owner of Salon Soule). I called Soule and explained my situation. The receptionist placed me on hold. I understood from my friend that Peggy was in high demand so I was sure she wouldn't have any time for a consultation with me.
When the receptionist got back on the phone, he said Peggy would make some time for me and an initial consultation was scheduled. From the moment I walked in to meet Peggy, she exuded such a warm aura about her, that I immediately felt comfortable when I sat on the chair and reluctantly removed my scarf. I looked in the mirror and started to cry and when I looked up at her, she was crying too and gave me a hug. She looked at my scar and the small tufts of hair coming up and smiled. She said that I would not need hair extensions for the day of the wedding. My tears began anew but this time they were happy tears.
She rescheduled her appointments here and there and set my cut and color for July 16th and the styling for the morning of the wedding. I put my scarf back on and left...but not before she hugged me again and assured me that everything would work out well.
July 16th I showed up at Peggy's door again. I removed the scarf and she began her miracle work. Not only was the color beautiful but she showed me how to style my hair to cover the scar and I drove home for the first time since my surgery, without a scarf! Tears were streaming down my face again as I drove home and I didn't care who saw me. That day was one of the happiest days of my life.
July 19th AM, I again arrive and plop myself down on her chair and she began another miracle. It took Peggy a little over an hour for her to style my hair in an up-do, creating a crown of hair with swirls of locks, dotted with tiny pearls. I've never felt more beautiful than I did that morning of my wedding day. Peggy managed to do this without one hair extension and if you could see my scar, you'd believe she is a miracle worker just as I do!
And by the way, my 19 year old son went with me that morning and fell in love with every female salonist that walked by him! On the way home to get ready for my big moment, he called Salon Soule, "A Bevy of Babes!" LOL.
Thank you, Peggy and all of the other salonists at Salon Soule for making not only my wedding day such a huge success but all of your encouragement and support through a very emotional time in my life. I will never forget that and will definitely be back again in 6 weeks!
P.J. I love you.
I got my haircut by PJ at Salon Soule and I really love the way she did her magic on my hair. I have been going to PJ three times for the past year (hey, I had long hair. Long hair doesn't need to be maintained that much) and I challenged her with different needs in those three times.
On my first visit, I asked her to layer my hair and give me red highlights. She gave me a soft choppy layer to give my flat Asian hair some texture then she gave me three tone red highlights. She did it flawlessly and boy, I looked good for a long time.
On my second visit (7-8 months later), I asked her to give my limp hair some body wave. She did medium curls on my outer layer and large curls on inner layer. At first I was shocked because I looked like Mustafa from Lion King but she reassured me that this was a good method because my hair was very straight and stubborn and if she had done large curls all around, my hair would be straighten out in no time. She was right, my hair ended up straighten itself a bit and my body wave turned out gloriously (see my other profile picture with curly hair).
On my third visit (two days ago), I said I wanted a bob cut so she gave me one. She meticulously trim and layered my hair and carefully cut it to trim my face better. Voila! (Please take a look at my profile picture) It was a shock in the beginning but I really love it.
The salon itself is very cute Spanish style cottages and everyone is very nice. They can handle anything from simple trim to edgy style. The haircut from PJ was $60 but it was darn worthwhile.
I got my first haircut with Cassandra at Salon Soul just about a year ago - one of my best friends was going to her and I liked what I'd heard, so I gave it a shot. I had a photography exhibit opening that week, so I wanted something smart looking that didn't axe too much length (I was growing it out but wanted it tidyed up). I walked out feeling put-together and fabulous and fully intending to go in for haircuts more often. And then I let my hair grow out - for a year.
Today I went back knowing I wanted something different, but with no particular cut in mind. I gave her three rules:
* No short-short bangs;
* Nothing really severe or stark looking;
* Nothing that will require hours with a hairdryer or curling iron every day
... then I told her to have at it.
O!M!G! (which is like OMG but with more !!!) I **LOVE** my new cut! It's cute and stylish and can be styled more straight and sophisticated up or tousseled for a more fun and free look. I feel like it took years off my face (certainly took a lot of weight off my head!)
This woman is an artist with scissors - seriously. She gave me plenty of time both times - she listened to what I had to say (which was often not terribly coherent "No the bangs aren't quite right they're ... um ..." and she'd give me suggestions 'til we nailed it down so she could fix it.) She's fun to talk to, too. Which is always a plus when you have to sit for an hour+ and can't read 'coz you're hiding under a sheet.
I tell you - I am SO not waiting another year to feel this fabulous again. (Of course, if the Sharks go to the fourth round she has a guaranteed appointment coming up - I've been saying for years if the Sharks make it to the finals, my hair goes teal - and I mean it!!)
Edit: Just got home - my daughter is WILD for the new 'do (and now wants to get a haircut from Cassie too), my husband got *that gleam* in his eye, and my son (being a typical teen boy) nodded his head and said "cool" Hee!
Edited again: I went to the Sharks game last night and when I went to buy alcohol, I was *carded* because the guy (who looked maybe late 20s) said he cards anyone who looks younger than himself - I just turned 38!!!! How good did THAT make me feel?! :)
I've been to Salon Soule twice now, first time for haircut with Carey, second time for cut and color with Carey, actually referred to by the Wax Bar's Kim who has super cute hair...
I love that you check in at the small hut and then your stylist comes to get you personally. Have had a great consultation both times and the last cut and color was EXACTLY what I was looking for. Had the best shampoo...ever, and the best part about it, Carey is super personable and easy to chit chat with, not to mention she gave a fatastic color and made sure I liked the color before she got to work on the cut. I am super pleased and the price was right- $115 for cut and color. Usually I'm skeptical to make a follow up appointment but I will see you in January Carey. Thanks a bundle!!!
Has anyone read these reviews and thought, yes. . . great hair???
Well not me, I thought so you all liked the location and cute little salon? Yea well I have been there and it is cute , , , , , but . . . . not my hair.
Megan did my hair for several months as well as my two roommates. I quickly learned she had no skill as we quickly started to look so alike. Further the price seemed to go up EVERY time by $10-$20 dollars slowly with every visit. The price was never the same and in the end she wasn't worth it so I am no longer a client.
This place is small but very cute and quaint. You need to go to the right person though. I have been going to Jill for the past 2 years and Ive recommended her to many of my friends who have gone back. She does your hair exactly the way you like it but she can also be experimental if you want to just take a risk and try a new look. One thing to keep in mind. Jill only takes cash or checks so you will need to remember that. Shes typically booked far out in advance so make sure you call ahead. Her name is Jill Reinhart, make sure you dont get anyone else.
I have followed my hairdresser, Amy, to all of the hair salons she has worked at, but this one has the best atmosphere by far, so I hope she stays here. The salon is located in a very cute old house with a nice little courtyard and lots of flowers.
Amy is great with my hair and will always do exactly what you ask for (be careful when you ask for just a trim b/c she really will only trim off a tiny bit if that's what she thinks you want!) but will also encourage you to try something new if she thinks you're stuck in a rut. Her favorite thing is when you just let her do whatever she wants--especially on people with short hair. I have sent numerous friends to her and they have all come away loving their new haircuts.
Word of warning: Parking may be difficult if you drive a massive vehicle so use your smaller car that day.
Also, they only accept credit cards if you buy products or jewelry, etc, not for the haircut itself.
Believe me, I have tried a lot of different salons in the area, but NO MORE. I am in love with this place. Actually I've petitioned them to let me move into one of the cozy rooms in this place, but alas, I am denied.
This salon is housed in a house, spanish bungalow style. You check in at the front room which is across the tiny courtyard from where the actual magic takes place. You gotta know that they sell some seriously cute STUFF here. You can't stop me from shopping and you didn't stop me from buying a sassy little purse and scotty dog barrettes from this place the first time I visited. And that visit I didn't even get my hair cut .
Polina is my stylist and she is a doll. No really, I want to stick her in my pocket and take her home. She is super cute and nice (and taken) and a friend of my boyfriend, so of course I love her. But she also does a kick ass job on my hair which IS my crowning glory (keeps people from looking too closely at my butt).
But you need to know that besides Polina, the reason I come here is because the ambiance is AWESOME. They have awesome decor, a very homey vibe and it is cozy cozy cozy there. Made me want to redecorate my house. And buy stuff. Which makes them happy I'm sure. Go here and ask for Polina, you won't regret it.
I am in love with Nicole-but honestly all the girls are great with hair. I found out about them through a pageant I've become involved in, and several of the stylists came to help us out, and ALL of us looked amazing.
I'm incredibly picky when it comes to my hair, and I've waited twenty (plus) years to let anyone dye it. Nicole was very understanding and was able to add some amazing highlights that didn't alter the overall color of my hair but really brightened it up. (I had someone ask if I lost weight!!)
I've also gotten some waxing done and that was also nice...as nice as it can be considering.
All in all WONDERFUL atmosphere (as the other reviews attested to), really feels like you're in another country with girlfriends. Everyone is really nice, and Nicole is a hair god. LOVE IT!!!
I first visited Salon Soule early last year. I was actually looking for someone to do my hair for my wedding and somebody had given me Cassandra's name. So, I visited Salon Soule a few months before my wedding to meet with Cassandra for a trial. Cassandra is really nice. She listened to what I wanted for my hair and went with it. She often stopped and asked me if there was anything at all I didn't like about how she was styling my hair. She took a lot of time and in the end I absolutely loved what she did. I booked her immediately.
She came to my house on the wedding day and arrived on time. She styled my hair, my mom's and my sister's and all our hairstyles looked gorgeous. Also, one of my bridesmaids decided at the last minute that she wanted her hair done and Cassandra took care of her too. She waited while I finished getting ready so that she could attach my veil. The veil stayed in place all day. Also, the style and my curls lasted the entire day, which was about eleven hours from when she finished my hair.
After my wedding I went back to her because I was ready to get rid of my long hair for the first time in my life. I was somewhat nervous but ready for a change. I wanted something sophisticated, sexy, clean, and short. She gave me an absolutely beautiful hair cut, about chin-length. It was everything I asked for. I couldn't have been more pleased.
I am not an extroverted person and have found haircuts and hairstyle appointments can be awkward with certain hairdressers. Cassandra is really easy to be around and she makes you comfortable. She is reasonably priced and you can tell that she loves her job. I will definitely be returning to Cassandra.
Megan is hands down the best stylist. My wife and I drive all the way from San Ramon to have Megan cut our hair. The only thing that I would change is that I wish she was closer to our house. Since my wife and I started getting our hair cut by Megan my mom now drives the 30+ miles to have Megan cut and color her hair and she does such an amazing job. My wife gets stopped all the time to have people ask her where she gets her hair cut because Megan did that great of a job. My advice, have Megan cut your hair and I promise you that you won't be disappointed.
Cute salon for cute hair, located in a vintage Spanish-style bungalow that was built about 100 years ago, probably before Winchester Blvd was paved and for sure there was not a Dairy Queen next door. My favorite part of the salon is the interior courtyard that is so pretty and filled with lots of brightly colored flowers. The courtyard is such a cool place to wait for your appointment, or to read magazines for however long it takes for your color to come up (I don't actually know what that means, but it is what my stylist always says when she tells me to go sit out there). I'm really happy my stylist moved to Salon Soule last year (but I'm not going to tell you who she is because it's already too hard to get an appt. with her). The staff and other stylists are super friendly, and everyone who comes in to have their hair done always looks way better when they go out.
Was referred to Peggy (believe she's the owner) and I just love her! Can't say enough good things about her, she super personable, easy going and has given me three wonderful cuts to date. I have no problems getting appointments with her either. Love the salon, warm and lively environment and they sell the cutest accessories!
Great great little salon. Wonderful atmosphere, everyone is super freindly and the little courtyard is awesome.
I always see Shaida, who is relatively new to the salon, and she is a hair genius. Literally one of the only hairdressers that I have ever had that I can say "do what you think" and it always comes out great. My latest experiment is a very structured bob... SO HOT... and I get asked all the time about my hair. She is also an amazing colorist, and always finds shades that are incredibly flattering and striking woithout being over the top. Thebest part about her cuts... they grow out great. I used to live in Tahoe and would only be able t see her every 6 months or so... and my hair would look great the whole time as log as i mainted the color.... now that's the sign of a FANTASTIC stylist.
BTW... I am so ashamed to admit this, since I normally eat really healthy, bu the dairy queen next door has some of the best onion rings on the planet... grab a basket, and eat them in the courtyard while you wait... little bit of guilty heaven before Shaida makes you beautiful!
