I am an Esthetician and do lashes here in Pasadena.  I trade services with a hair stylist in Culver City, whom I loooove, but I was looking for a place closer to my job for basic services like a wash and blowdry.  One of my clients referred me to Richard here at Sessions.

I LOVE RICHARD! He is amaaaazing at what he does.  My hair always looks so healthy and shiny after he is done with it, and he is thee most pleasant person to chat with.  It's seriously like talking to one of my girlfriends when I'm in the chair.  I highly recommend him, and I've come to learn that extensions are a specialty of his.  I love that he is willing to come in earlier for me, so I can dash to work right after!

I couldn't ask for more: Customer service and SKILLS!!!  : ) The prices are a little steep, but I've always been a firm believer that you get what you pay for.

My long-time stylist (whom I love) moved to Hawaii so I was in search of a new salon.

I decided to try out Salon Sessions and take advantage of Old Pasadena's 'locals only' Thursday promotion. I needed a cut and color, but decided to just go for a cut and see how I liked the salon. The receptionist hooked me up with Peter Felix and he gave me an amazing haircut and great styling.

So - I made an appointment for the following week for color, and, my bad, I forgot to bring my color codes that I had from my old stylist. Peter did his best to match but candidly, the color just didn't quite do it for me.

I called Peter a few days later and told him we'd had a failure to communicate (definitely partly my fault) and that I needed to come in to re-do the color. No problem. We set up an appointment right away.

This time I brought my color codes and Peter spent a lot of time with me (needed to neturalize current color, condition, lay down new color) and voila: a very happy ending with a great final styling, too.

Best of all, without even asking, Peter said: No charge for today! Now THAT's customer service!

I might add, in all my visits to Salon Sessions, I have found the front desk staff to be very friendly and helpful, I love the ambiance (including the cafe) and never felt rushed through my hair treatments.

Most of all, I really appreciate a stylist and salon that stands by their work and goes out of their way to make the customer happy.

    I love this place.

It was my second time strolling by to get my hair done here. First was a cut, second was for partial highlights.

I was being taken care of by Susan Harman. You don't need to read on any further, just request for her. She is the sweetest cutest thing ever! I literally walked in, asked if there were anything open for walk-in highlights, but not even knowing what kind of highlights(color) I wanted.

I was no help to Susan... but after she fiddled with my hair a little bit, she already asked the right questions towards picking the color for me. It's been ages since I've done anything with my hair, so my color spectrum has faded with the greys... but not today.

It wasn't long until we found a color that I was satisfied with, and she showed me some samples just so we were on the same page... I know right? Love.

Susan took her time to make sure my hair came out the way I wanted. I was not rushed like a lot of salons out there where they just foil you up, wash it out, quick blow dry, and send you out to the world to die. No. She checked up on my highlights frequently to make sure the process was going perfectly. While washing my hair, she was also paying tons of attention to how my hair was coming out. I wasn't paying much attention anymore because I trusted her, trusted her with my life.

End results. AMAZING. Exactly what I needed and with room to experiment more in the future! but enough for me to look different and fresh. She recommended me this dry shampoo spray, I forgot the name and it's in my car right now... BUT it smells amazing and does wonders! I am asian and if I dont wash my hair, my hair will get oily the next day so this product is amazing! Ask Susan for product recommendation, and get it because it will change you. IT WILL CHANGE YOU.

So yeah check out Salon Sessions! and make sure to ask for susan! she will take care of you :) her website is http://www.susanharman.../ it has her schedule on there so check it out!

He is very experienced and listens to what you want he recommends product but isn't to pushy about it !!. He is honest yet truthful and will have you walking out happy in Hollywood Style .

Ok so this place was about to get 1 star until my stylist Andrew came to save the day (more on that later)

I came to see Andrew 2 weeks ago  for a haircut. He was great about spending time discussing what I wanted, what my options were, and finally carrying out the plan WE decided on. I told him I wanted more layers and more volume. He gave me a great haircut that I am still loving now. He also suggested great products that have worked out great. Today I went back to see him for highlights and he did not disappoint. I told him I wanted subtle highlights and he gave me something I loved. Minimalist but it still makes an impact on my look.
Andrew is patient, diligent, friendly, and does great work :)

So why was I about to write a scathing review?? The horrible customer service I received by the front desk staff.  I initially sent an email to request a stylist. I didn't want to call bc I was looking for something very specific. This was on a Wed. I didn't hear back so I called Fri afternoon. I was told only managers can check the email but that they would leave a message and someone would be sure to call me back. I didn't hear back. So the following Wed (a week after the initial email) I called again. I must have gotten a manager because he was able to open the email and read it so he could make a recommendation on a stylist. So yes, it took a week and two phone calls from me to get an appointment.

Then on my first visit, Andrew recommended Moroccan Oil and I bought it. I didn't realize until I got home that I bought the light formula for fine hair. I went to Salon Sessions on a Thursday to exchange it for the right one and they didn't have any. Then when I tried to return it, the girl tells me she doesn't how to do a return. Huh?? She tells me I'll have to come back. The next day I call to speak to someone about it, and a "manager" tells me I can come back Saturday but that it has to be before 3pm bc then that same girl who doesn't know how to do a return will be there. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? So in order to do a return I have to come back when it's convenient to the salon??!! I was over it and just waited until my appt with Andrew today to return the product.

So I go back today and tell the girl I want to do a return and give her the product and receipt. She tells me all I can do is an exchange. I tell her I want to apply it the services I'm getting done bc they don't have the regular Moroccan oil. She then RUDELY proceeds to shove the receipt in my face and tell me this is their policy. I felt my face get hot and told her I would deal with it later. I went to wait for Andrew in their cafe area. I couldn't help how angry I was and voiced my concerns to Andrew. He went out of his way to track down the manager and explained to him everything that happened. The manager credited the return to my services thus bringing the customer service nightmare to an end.

In conclusion, GO SEE ANDREW. You will not be disappointed by his work  and you'll love his personality :)

    AZELLE FOR HAIRSTYLING

There are many reviews here but rest assured,  mine is from personal experience.

I made an appointment with Azelle because my friend, a stylist herself, recommended her.

I was a litle surprised to see that Azelle is young. You know that could be bad coz she might not have experience. Or good coz she's unafraid and might have new techniques and ideas that I have not run across yet.

Glad to report it was the latter.

Chopped off 25 inches of hair to be donated to Locks of Love. (Ponytail number 4) Wanted to go funky coz I've been sporting safe girly for a while now. Everytime I tell a stylist I want to chop ALL of it off, they get scared and end up giving me a safe looking short hair style.

    Before: http://s3-media1.px.ye...

This is the best short hair I've ever gotten here in the US. Ponytail Number 2 was in the Philippines and that dude was awesome. Was never able to recreate the coolness of that hair and I tried almost everywhere, Toluca Lake, Brea, West LA, Encino...

    Until now.

I showed Azelle a picture of Emma Watson's new hair and she said cool. She chopped off 25 inches. Styled it beautifully...

It was beautiful but way longer than I expected to walk out with. See After: http://s3-media3.px.ye...

It was beautiful so I thought I could live with it. But a couple of days later, Irealized I just couldn't. Not if I'm planning to plan growing it out right away...

So I called the salon and asked how much it is to fix a cut I just had before. The receptionist said she'll have to ask Azelle.

I got a call back immediately afterward saying Azelle could take me ASAP anytime I want and she'll fix the hair until I'm happy for no charge!

Now the hair looks like this... http://www.yelp.com/bi...

That's whatI call customer service! Thank you Azelle! I'm a huge fan and from now on, I'll be saving my allowance to go to you!

I was quite skeptical about coming here because of their steep prices at first, but after doing a lil' research, my decision changed instantly lol. Forget about being a cheap ass! I was searching for one of those deals.."first time client - 30% off" deal-type of thing, but i know there's always some kind of catch to it...either they're beginners or they just suck. LOL. So i figured i better choose wisely since i'm gonna blow my $$ away anyways. I want a REAL hairstylist that will listen to me and will make me look my BEST!

Thank GOD I chose SUSAN HARMAN!! I found her through YELP and also YOUTUBE from one of the garu's "Missglamorazzi." Susan is an amazing stylist; she's beautiful, talented, and what matters most is her magical hands and ATTITUDE. She taught me a few ways to style/blow dry my hair and tells me step by step on what she's doing which i really like!! She's really attentive with her clients:)

Pros: great customer service, clean environment, and what feels good is sitting on a comfortable chair with your head tilt back while your stylist is washing your hair. Susan's lil' head massage feels G double O-D goooood!! Trust me...you will walk out of this salon with a smile on your face :)

carries many different brand of hair products. my favorites - ORIBE & MORROCAN OIL

...soo many pros to list!!..you just have to check this place out yourself! :)

Cons: meter parking. booo!! :( but on a side note, they will run out there to put some quarters in the meter for u. Also, they have a garage parking that's pretty close by - free for 90 minutes but still worth it.

i'm not gonna lie. The price is quite high $$$...BUT it's well worth it. I guess i just have to learn how to sacrifice a few things and save my $ to come back. Most definitely. LOL

I have to give a shoutout to my stylist Josh Forrester. I followed him here from another salon in Pasadena, AFTER having followed him from beauty school- Vidal Sassoon Academy in Santa Monica.
Before meeting him, I was never faithful to just one stylist... but I've changed my ways!  He's pretty young but don't be silly and let that scare you, he's very motivated and passionate about hair, and will listen to what you want, especially if you're more into a creative, unconventional look, he will rock it!  Because of my job, I can't get too crazy with my hair these days, but we came up with a cut and color scheme that can live in both worlds, and people still stop me on the streets to compliment my 'do!

Dano is amazing with think, curly, unruly  hair. Went to him about 2 years ago and have gone back ever since. Never thought my hair could look this good! I have moved out of California, but still schedule appointments on my trips back because he is THAT good.

I've had many stylists and paid all sorts of amounts of money, but Dano is by far the best I've come across. His cuts suit my face well and he leaves it versatile enough for me to wear in different ways - curly, wavy, up-dos, straight. His cuts grow out so well, too.

He's also very straight up about what styles will or will not be good for me. Excellent style judgment, impeccable skill and all around miracle worker.

    Its all about Brenton!

I have super thick hair and it can be a challenge for some stylists but I'm happy with the hairstyle Brenton did. Several friends recommended him to me and I would totally recommend him too.

He was also really helpful recommending products that fit my needs. I'm really picky because I'm allergic to a lot of things and Brendon knew just what would work for me.

The ladies who work at the front desk are super nice and helpful.

The salon is very nice inside, well decorated and comfortable. Everything looks very clean and modern.

    Totally worth the money!

Susan Harmon is the best stylist!  I used to go to her in San Francisco - and now I am so thrilled she is here in LA!  I am happy to drive to Pasadena even though I live in the South Bay - it is totally worth it to have the best stylist in town!  I know all her SF clients must be super sad she moved to Los Angeles!

She always does the most beautiful color on me! It's nice to be sitting in the chair when you know your hair is in the hands of a perfectionist, and knows her stuff!

I've known her for years and she is super sweet, gorgeous and talented. You know you can trust a stylist who always has beautiful hair herself!

    love you Sue!

From reading all he amazing feedback here on yelp, it dumbfounds me at the lack of professionalism shown by the receptionist Melissa and the hairstylist who was to do my cousins hair. Melissa calls her to tell her that the Salon requires(in particular her stylist RUTH) in order to keep her appointment a deposit on her credit card card due to her rescheduling her appts in the past. As I'm sitting in the car and listening to my cousin, i literally cannot believe what I am hearing. My cousin is telling them that they probably have her confused with someone else with the same name. The conversation continues and I can see the humiliation on my cousins face. Their lack of professionalism and poor customers service is astonishing.

Customer/Quality service is the key to growth. I read all these great reviews and can appreciate their work. Obviously Azelle is a wonderful stylist as I see her name on most reviews, however, this person RUTH needs a lesson on how to treat customers with dignity and respect. No one is above a bad review, and if my review will keep ONE person from seeking RUTH for service, i have succeeded. Melissa also needs to learn basic customer service skills as the first person a client hears is the pleasant, professional and welcoming voice of the person in "RECEPTION", which she is not.

SHAME ON YOU SALON SESSIONS! for hiring people who lack basic people skills and shame on you if you enforce these ridiculous insulting procedures.

I have been going to this salon for nearly 3 years and LOVE every moment I have to go there.  Liz has been my stylist since my first time coming to this salon and I would not trade her services, ever.  Always scared to take a leap with new hair styles, Liz makes suggestions that result in me loving my hair.

The products used at this salon are always ones that are the latest in hair care.  I highly recommend this salon, especially stylist Liz; you will walk out a new person.

I'd just like to thank the Hair Gods for this place and for NADIN.

I hadn't cut my hair in over a year because i had a traumatic experience with my former "hair stylist" (that's what she calls herself) and i didn't want to take a chance of having my hair botched once again. I found this place on yelp and took a gamble. Boy did I hit the jackpot!! NADIN was suuuuper sweet and so talented!! She gave me EXACTLY what I wanted and made me feel beautiful! I also went to her to style my hair for my engagement party and she did a perfect job. My Fiance' wouldn't stop complementing my hair all night =)

The place is super clean and very cool. Everyone was very nice as well. Do yourself a favor and go see NADIN. She won't disappoint.

I should preface by saying that I was getting something extreme done as far as my hair goes--going from shoulder-length, to a REALLY short bob style (think Janet Jackson's current do)....Anywho, it would be the shortest I've ever had it in my life, and I surely didn't want someone to botch it...

Enter Salon Sessions found on Yelp, and Karissa as my stylist. I showed her a pic of what I was looking for, and she literally did it verbatim, with a couple of tweaks (which she told me about BEFORE doing anything)! And she also recommended a style-aid product, which is the first product that's ever worked on my hair, since it's thick and Mediterranean...:OP

Karissa was sweet, informative, and BADASS as a stylist. Would HIGHLY recommend her as well as Salon Sessions to anyone! Rawk on!

Kennie Johnson!  (need I say more!) I wish there were 6/7/8 Stars on this, because he and Salon Sessions far exceed 5.

I have had my hair chopped, bobbed, razor'd, cut, etc. etc. by other stylists, for these past four years. I am not saying he/she did bad. I am not saying he/she did good. But I am in the process of trying to grow it out, so I get this horrific ugly stage after just a few weeks of a new cut. I hate it - and desperately needed a professional to help. And I mean a professional, not a senior stylist. I knew Kennie would be the guy and he was - he saved my disastrous look! My trip to LA was so worth it!

Sadly, because of my crazy schedule, I am blow dry-and walk-out-the-door-kinda-of-woman right now, but I don't want to look like I literally did just that. Kennie fixed me up and taught me how to look great with just one product, a blow dryer and my fingers (sounds dirty. heeeeheeee). Kennie fixed up my ends, gave my hair great shape, and trained me on how to give my hair the body that I love.

There is one thing to be happy with the service you received at a salon, but its another to feel happy and beautiful - that's is what I felt after leaving Kennie and Salon Sessions.

Kennie - you better not leave California or I will hunt you down! You are now my (new) professional stylist! So glad I found time to make the trip!

Until next time I visit family and friends in LA....
    Muchas Gracias, Mi Amor! =)

You've got to go see Richard! He's fabulous, talented, knowledgeable, fun, and always happy to see everyone!

I've been seeing Richard since January and it's the healthiest it's ever been in my life! I'm always getting compliments! He is open to questions, but I trust him with everything he does.

He also introduced me to the Brazilian Blowout which has been a godsend because my hair is thick and super curly. Now I can actually do my hair without spending hours trying to tame the beast, which is great because my schedule is so hectic. :)

Richard does my color, cuts, styles, treatments, and everything always turns out amazing! All of the stylists at Salon Session are so wonderful and nice. The location is also very convenient in Old Town Pasadena.

I am a first time mom to a cranky three month old and it's nearly impossible for me to get out of the house. However, some family was in town for the weekend and, after seeing how haggard I looked, they begged me to get my hair done while they watched the baby.

I looked up some reviews on yelp, and Salon Sessions was nearby and they were able to fit me in for a cut and color that same day - Score!

A little background before I launch into my review...
For the last few years I got my hair done with Anna at Chrome Salon, but I moved to Pasadena AND she also had a baby and didn't end up going back to Chrome afterward. I LOVE ANNA and no one had ever done my hair as wonderfully as she did, so I was very nervous about having to find someone over near my home.

Cut to last Saturday when I entered Salon Sessions. My stylist was Alexis - a very adorable minx with short hair and a great personality. She sat me in the chair and we discussed what I was looking for. She then proceeded to give me an in-depth run-down of what she thought we should do and even went over upkeep with me and all that (knowing I am a busy mom).

Six hours later - YES - six hours later (it took so long because I was seriously atrocious and we had to do an overhaul), I had the greatest cut and color EVER (I STILL LOVE YOU, ANNA!). I looked like a new woman - and that was definitely a good thing.

When I got home, my family could not stop raving about how great I looked, and they seemed really surprised that someone was not only able to make me look human but semi-pretty in the process!

My "session" (heehee!) at Salon Sessions was NOT cheap, but the results made it well worth the price.

I highly recommend Alexis at Salon Sessions, especially if you are blond. You will NOT be sorry!

Karissa's my girl!! Got my color done today and it seriously looks the best it ever has. She always does amazing work, but today was extra special. She did a beautiful chocolate base color and then added the most gorgeous highlights that were so natural looking. Very beachy,...they start more natural at the root then got lighter and the ends. But it looks so natural. They almost looked painted on. And my hair felt amazing. She used the Oribe styling products.
I went shopping after I got my hair done, and 3 different girls came up to me asking who did my hair. And of course I said the fabulous Karissa and salon sessions!

Ok, I don't think Karissa needs any more shout-outs on yelp, and I really hope her book doesn't get so crazy that she can't fit me in anymore, but man, I gotta give credit where it's due!

I remember warily coming into the salon over a year ago, unsure about trying out a new stylist but I have been back loyally ever since.  No one else has touched my hair since I found Karissa.  I've essentially had the same style (can't change it up due to headshots) but each time I come in, Karissa has been able to put some new spin on my cut, a new detail or technique that makes me feel like a brand new person.  She knows her stuff, and is an expert at interpreting what you want into what you need.

And damn do her cuts grow out well!  Even months after getting my hair cut, I will still receive compliments like I just got my hair cut the other day.  Can't say enough about this girl!

my friend Angela Le works here & I get my hair cut from her. She is great, tell her what you want & she can do it for you. Really nice salon, but be sure to make an appointment, it gets crowded often. Cuts & dyes are a little pricier then normal, but hey if you can come out looking like a
model, why not pay more? at least that's what my friends told me, compliments on the hair ALL day !

I am from San Francisco and I went to stay at Pasadena for my friend's wedding. I had to search on Yelp which salons I can go to for an up-do hairstyle and I found Salon Sessions that has a lot of good reviews. I called and made an appointment with Lauren. She was very professional, friendly and down to earth. She did my hair exactly the way I wanted it to be. I was well satisfied. Thanks Lauren for doing such an awesome job!

    Highly Recommended!

Karla is the BEST!!! I am so happy with her work and attention to detail. She actually completed a REAL consultation with me and assesed what I wanted and needed. Appt day was a lil confusing to me but that is sooo minor -- I get there at 1130 and was in the chair, Karla talked to me about what she was doing and why she was doing it -- Ya gotta luv a stylist who is actuallly interested in your hair and not how much they just made off of you.  Great personality, Great talent, and I found a new stylist -- Ahhhhh as the angel sings!!! YAYYY!! :-)

Good pick for a quick blow-dry. Nestled int the backstreets of Old Town Pasadena, the salon is really big and they also have a lot of staff to accommodate. I've even walked in a few times and although they were busy, they found me a hair stylist with barely any wait. The waiting room, btw has a vending machine and it's almost as if it's a small cafe.. really cute.

AND they give FREE blow-dry service on your birthday. Really sweet.. I totally used it before a wedding haha.

I was referred here from my cousin Angela who sees Brenton Lee. I wanted to try Brenton but he was all booked for the day that I badly needed a haircut asap. So I asked to see Liz to give her a try (chose her after seeing a happy Yelpers review about her). When I arrived, Liz introduced herself and showed me around the place since this was my first time here. She offered me beverage and seated me to her area. She gave me a  5-7 minute consultation about my hair and the cut I was describing and how she would work around layering it . She was very nice, approachable, informative, professional and a cute preggie little lady. I must say, she looks good for being 7 months in her pregnancy! =)
Her shampooing was great...i wanted to sleep.hehe... And most importantly, I LOVE my haircut! She followed exactly what I asked her to do and that is trying to keep my hair length as much as possible for a wedding in September. She is great with layers and thinning out extra bulkiness to my thick hair.
I did not give a 5 star because I felt it was a bit pricey for just a haircut but then again...its in OLD TOWN PASADENA =/ I will try Liz again in the future.

i went to see Brenton. I have mixed hair which is very curly, so I was recommended to see Brenton. He is a yoooungin', but knows his stuff. I was a little hesitant in some of his methods (sticking me under a dryer first rather than just blowing my hair out to begin with), but it all worked out. He was pleasant, not toooo chatty which really bugged me about my last stylist. The ONLY hiccup for me was I was quoted $85 and paid $95. As much as I enjoyed my experience, I know that I can probably find someone to do just as good of a job for less. Brenton did give me some coupons for next time, but honestly after those run out I just don't know if I feel right paying more for a service that I know other people pay less for...my hair is curly, but very easy to work with. We'll see..maybe I can just talk to him about it.

The girls at the front are friendly. NO ATTITUDE, no bringing their bad day to work, which I really appreciated, especially stepping into a new place! They have a nice waiting room, with coffee, tea, snack machine, and tables.

But the thing I love MOST about Salon Sessions is the mix of clientele. White, black, mixed, asisan, persian....the list goes on. I love Salons like this. Salons to me are the last place in America that a truly segregated, which is a shame. I love being in Salon Sessions and not feeling like an outsider.

Great place. Parking can be a pain, but that's just Pasadena. Park in a garage and save yourself the stress.

I had my first experience here the other day and although I will go back again to try other stylists, for now it is just okay.

I asked for "dark chocolate brown" and specifically warned that it should be brown, not black. Of course, I got black.

My hair turned out alright and it was styled nice however there are some spots where she didnt cover my hair completely. Overall though, I am happy with my cut, color and style despite it being darker than I would've liked.

The reason Salon Session lost a couple of stars is because when I'm paying hundreds of dollars to get my hair done, I expect attentiveness. My stylist was nice but that doesn't give her an excuse to not check on her clients while she's coloring their hair. She left me there for 30 minutes while dye was dripping of my face and neck, frantically wiping it off on my own wondering where the hell she was.

Will go back to try the other stylists. Saw a couple very promising ones.

I've been faithfully coming back here for a year strong now, and I still can't get over how much I love the place and how much I love Azelle.  She is really wonderful at getting exactly what you want done.  It's like she's in my mind when I explain to her how I want my hair to be cut and/or styled.

The facilities are always clean and the staff goes above and beyond to make you feel comfortable.  I can't stop recommending this place to all my friends and had to write an update to my initial review!

Went to Azelle after reading Yelp reviews and got exactly what I wanted... which is saying a lot, especially after my many many horrible experiences in the last couple of years. She listened and delivered. I just get so excited when I find people that actually know how to do their job!!!! Yay for Azelle and Salon Sessions!

This was my first visit here, which is the reason for the 4 stars, but I'm optimistic and will definitely be coming back!

I HEART LIEN DOWLING!!!  =)  This girl obviously has a fan base so I'll keep it short.

She mixed the most amazing and vibrant red for my black-brown locks.

    As she was blow drying my hair, I said "Oh . . .  My . . .  God . . . ."  And she paused.  Cautious.  She asked me what's wrong and I said, "My hair!  It's so . . . SEXY!"

She laughed and said, "Good cuz I only do sexy hair. " Love her!  =)

LOL I have never had such an insane color, cut and blow out.  She blew out my plain jane hair and made it into big sex pot hair.  HOT!

It is a pricey shop but I love my hair!!  Very cool, chic decor.  Deceptively huge inside.  Super friendly staff.

I am not the most loyal client and will easily "cheat" on my hairstylist if I see someone with an amazing cut and will want the same cut.  I was recommended to Salon Sessions by a friend with the most immaculate and manageable hairstyle.  I had been growing out my hair for about four months and was in need for a good cut.  I saw Liz, and she was adorable and so sweet.  She is very personable, and my appointment felt more like two friends chatting away the morning.  Unfortunately, I wish I had brought a photo of the cut I wanted.  I described something easy but didn't quite get the look I had pictured.  I am looking forward to going back and bringing a photo.

The place is in an urban, loft-esqe setting.  Try to make an early appointment, as the meters are free from 8-11 AM.

    Pros: friendly stylist, great service
Cons: a bit pricey ($85 + tip for cut and blowdry)

Not to totally change my original review, because the haircuts are still great, but I have to say that I was a little turned off when I went in last time and my stylist said I could get a discount for putting a review on yelp.  I told her I already had.

I'm not a fan of that kind of campaigning.  It's lame, and made me not want to go back.  So I didn't.

So E tv (entertainment tonight) had a special on Brazilian Blowout, it's a new chemical free hair treatment that lasts up to 3 months. Restoring protein to your hair and leaving you with silky smooth shiny hair. When I found out that my hair stylist  AZELLE was Certified for this treatment I was ecstatic.

So yesterday, I completed my Brazilian Blow out with the amazing AZELLE and I am completely in love with it. It was a simple process. I actually just showered and NO frizz. I haven't had this happen in..sheesh! I don't even know when.  Hair feels and looks healthier.  This is something you can easily get addicted to. This is going to cut my morning routine way down and that's always a plus. Now i'm really going to have easy and manageable hair.

It's so nice to have a hairstylist that cares for your hair and wants only the best for it! Definitely go see Azelle, you won't be disappointed. She's amazing!!  Great customer service from beginning to end.

I have never heard of this place and only learned about it yesterday when I saw this girl sports this super hot and totally amazing hair-cut. I asked her where she went and she told me she came here and got her hair cut by Azelle. I bombarded her with questions about the place and she says that Azelle totally understands about what you want and what to do. Azelle sounded exactly like the kind of hair-stylist I was looking for: Someone who will listen, do what you want and still make you look hot.

So this morning, I call and make an appointment with Azelle at 12pm. I go and when I walk in the salon, the receptionist greeting was extremely warm and kind! Then this lady in flaming red hair and a sexy red-dress comes and talks to me like she is my hostess and asks me if I want anything to drink! What kind of salon does that?! I was flabbergasted by the nicest people and the salon itself was...GORGEOUS. It was amazing!

I finally meet Azelle and first thing we do is sit down and talk about what I want with this cut. I told her, I was tired of the same old look, I wanted something fresh and new, something totally out-there, but at the same time I wasn't quite sure/comfortable with short hair because I like long hair. Azelle understood so well and wanted me to stay within my comfort zone because if I didn't like it...then it would be disastrous for me. However, she told me that if I wanted it shorter, I have a week to go back to her for a complimentary cut/adjustment.

So, it was the usually as all salons. She washed my hair, sat me down and started to talk about what to do. She cut my hair first when it was wet and then cut it again when it was dry. When she was done, she said if I wanted it shorter. I said, yes, but I wanted to keep some parts the same because I liked how it looked. So she did and it was just like she said, my hair cut would rock two kinds of look; a shorter look and a longer look. Now my dull everyday style has seriously transformed thanks to her! It's now totally insane and wickedly awesome!

It's a bit pricy, $75 with Azelle, but seriously worth EVERY-CENT. I spent nearly 90 minutes (1hr 30 min) in there with her! And she was even showed and taught me how to style my hair. She even answered from make-up questions! Azelle is a sweet heart. I got to know her a bit also through mini-conversations while she cut my hair. I totally, completely recommend Azelle!

Also, If you go and let her know I recommended you to go to her for a cut (my name's Carly!). You'll get a discount. ;) Nice huh? So go go and let her know I recommended you to her!

Yes, yes, yes Yelpers - I sing the praises of Salon Sessions. Let me say (for a negative review I saw) that I have no vested interest in a reviewing this place positively or negatively. No one mentioned anyting to me about a discount for a review on Yelp. I'm just too darn tickled pink that I found a salon where I feel so comfortable that my complex, mind-of-its-own hair will be well taken care of. My hair can be difficult and I'm gun shy about going to hair stylists based on past, near-traummatic hair experiences.

Based on some Yelp reviews (thanks Darlyna and Daniele) I requested Brenton Lee. I'll admit that I was ready to throw up a yellow flag, just because he appeared so young. And actually, he is. But, I felt comfortable and really felt like my African American/Native American tresses were in confident, experienced hands. Not long after he started to talk to me about my hair and I could hear the experience in his assessment, I had not a hesitation.

    So here's what I liked:
I expected some level of pretention because the salon is high profile - didn't get any of that.
Brenton gave me a tour and introduced me to the owners, stylists etc. Everyone was very nice.
I was offered snacks/drinks from the mini cafe - who can turn that down?
I thought the price was fair - wash, cut, style for $85.

    Here's what I loved:
I've never had my hair come out with so silky smooth with so little heat applied.
Throughout the process, Brenton explained what he was doing and why.
He explained the rational behind the use of his products, never doing a hard sell.
He educated me on why my hair should be cut a certain length (different from what I originally wanted) and he made real sense.

This is definitely my salon of choice.

karissa! *clap clap* got a haircut from her two weeks ago, and it's still in good shape.  i have really thick asian hair, and it's always a challenge for stylists to cut/shape/layer it.

she's young, which was a little worrisome for me bc it's natural to assume that length of experience dictates skill, but she did a really good job.

i'm never loyal to stylists, but this time, i'm going back.
