I'm so sad this place is closed! Got an e-mail a couple weeks back and was really shocked and disappointed...this was my favorite salon, and I felt really safe getting my hair done here. I went for several cuts, and they always looked fabulous. I definitely recommend Kate - she was awesome all around. I also got a perm once with Kelly, and she was great too! Everyone here is seriously super sweet and very talented as well!
Great service (complimentary wine! whoo!)
Great atmosphere/location
Great cuts/styles
Surprisingly reasonable prices
Just wish they were still open!! :( -

Found out about Salon Radius through a livingsocial coupon deal. I had been meaning to find someone to even out my hair color (I've spent the last year trying to grow out to my natural color, and now I had a half and half look that was driving me crazy) so figured I'd give it a try!
When I called to schedule my appointment, I tried to explain what I wanted, but the girl on the phone thought it would be better if I came in just for a consultation, so I set one up. I met with Scott, and he came up with a plan to fix my current color, and also to set up a haircut.
Unfortunately I had to reschedule my appointment twice because of work conflicts, but they staff was great and very accommodating both times.
Today was my appointment, and I couldn't be happier! Besides having a great atmosphere, great selection of beverages, and an easy to find location with lots of parking, my hair turned out AMAZING! It's soft, the cut is great, and the color blends in with my natural color so well I can't even tell I had it done! It's perfect.
The prices are verrrry reasonable, even without a coupon, and they carry a full line of products as well for you to purchase. Well worth the drive from Vista :) I'll be back! -

Had an awesome day yesterday- started with breakfast at Elijah's Del Mar, followed by a royal treatment at Salon Radius. Got my hair done by Gina and love everything she did, the color, the cut and the service. What impressed me the most, was that an hour before my appointment I got a call saying that Gina was about 10 minutes behind and I should come in a lil later, if it's ok with me. WOW- Thank you! My old hairstylist (up in Nor Cal) would always make me wait, that was the case even if I were her first appointment- I absolutely hated sitting there looking over all of the outdated magazine.
The Salon itself is super cute and the atmosphere is great. I'll definitely be back :) -

I tried this place when I first moved to San Diego but I never went back. I can't remember the reason but I assume it was because I was unhappy with something. I purchased a deal from livingsocial and decided to give it another try.
I made an appointment to get a bang trim, highlights and a glaze. All the girls that I came in contact with were awesome! They were all so friendly and accommodating.
My hair looks great and to be completely honest, I'm confused as to why I never went back. -

I just moved to SD from LA and needed a fabulous salon so I turned to YELP for some help! This salon got excellent reviews so i decided to give it a go and I am SOOO thankful i did!
The salon was very easy to find and parking right up front was a breeze. I was greeted by a warm and friendly receptionist who took the time to show me around and offered me a beverage...not just your typical water or coffee either. They have wine and beer too but at 9am I settled for some hot coffee ;)
They have a specialist for every service you do which is kind of nice because you're not spending half the day with just one person. For my cut I went with Stacey and she truly was the answer to my prayers....sweet, funny, personable and most importantly she delivered the exact cut i wanted! Next up I went to Kelly W. for my color and she did not disappoint...she brought my tired looking highlights back to life and more! VA VA VOOM!
Thank you yelp for helping me find this wonderful salon and I can't wait to go back! -

I randomly purchased a http://livingsocial.com coupon to Salon Radius. I was hesitant to cheat on my normal hair gal - who is amazing, but was pleasantly surprised. The gal who greeted me was very nice and showed me around.
I waited no longer than 30 seconds for my stylist du jour, Gina. She was quiet but thorough. Gina was uber patient and listened to what I wanted then made it better. Her color was impeccable and the cut looks great.
I may not make a 100% switch over but will for sure be back to see Gina. Loved her! Loved the salon. Oh and great prices, very reasonable, even without the coupon.Comment from David L. of Salon Radius 2/9/2011

Good location, competent stylist, but a little contrived. My tried and true stylist of 10+ years moved to Hawaii, so I've been looking for a new hair confidant after going from short for decades to long, thick locks. Decided to try Salon Radius based on the positive reviews.
The salon is nicely appointed and I was immediately and warmly greeted and offered a much-welcomed beverage after a long day at work. Kelly cut my hair and did a great job with the layers and showed me some techniques on how to style my unruly, frizzy mane.
The price was very reasonable (I paid $65 with tip for shampoo/cut/style) and they're open late enough to have an appointment after work. I would've given the experience four stars, except there seemed to be an unnatural Vanna White style push for the B&B products which I found off-putting. When I got to the counter to pay, the girls were chatting with each other cattily and left an exceptionally fake impression "your hair looks so gre-eat".
I'd return for another trim, but I didn't feel a particularly strong bond. -
Review from Andrea T.
I got my hair done by Kate at the Yelp Unleashed event and won a conditioning treatment and styling which was awesome because:
-My hair really needed a conditioning treatment
-I have no style
Kate to the rescue! (again!).
The salon itself is beautiful, but not in a museum way...it's comfy. They have some really lovely artwork and a killer boutique. It was really hard for me to leave without taking a leather handbag, earrings, and a painting with me. The bathrooms are very clean (I always check). Everyone is really nice and all in all it was a lovely, low drama experience!
My hair feels like silk today which is a welcome change from the usual ironed hay/straw feel. Unfortunately, they style is gone. I tried to sleep with my chin resting on my hand at the kitchen table so my waves would look cute again today, but in the end the lure of the pillow won. I'll be back soon though!
Thanks Kate and Radius! -

All the women here are phenomenal!!
My sister won a drawing for a free haircut after she moved out of state, so I was fortunate enough to be able to claim it. Kate cut my hair and did an AMAZING job!! One of the best cuts I've ever had!
The atmosphere is fun and they have a great selection of Bumble & Bumble products as well as an in-store boutique. The artwork on the wall is beautiful and is also for sale. Refreshments are provided as well as scalp massages for haircuts.
A wonderful experience to say the least! I recommend them to all!! -

Wonderful customer service!!
Super cute decor, lots of retail hair products, and adorable jewelery.
They host events every now and then that feature clothing, and accessories at reasonable prices.
I've only had Kate do my hair, but there are very talented people who work here, and Kate is no different. She takes the time to ask you what you want, and sticks to it!!
Overall this is a great place, with great people!! -

Not my cup of tea.....I would rather deal with one person doing my color, cut & shampoo. It all just confuses me. Everyone seemed nice. I just have a couple of comments. The person that cut my hair was a "senior" stylist, all I have to say is SHOCKED. The shampoo guy did not massage my head....he just used his finger tips with NO pressure "just thinking of it makes me slightly nauseous". I felt a little sales-like with their products which are great....but I don't need 3 different people asking, then having it all packed in a bag ready for purchase( just in case) when I pay the bill. Oh the bill, I almost forgot all about that part....over $200 not including gratuity craziness. I had a groupon or something which completely saved the day otherwise forget about it.

Salon Radius styled my friend's and my hair at a Yelp! Elite event. We ended up looking like harujuku girls. I thought we did Gwen Stefani proud, but my friend felt like her foot tall pompadour w/ a wrap-around braid was a bit much.
They had a raffle where you put your name in a fish bowl to potentially win some prizes. A couple of weeks after the the event, they called me up. Apparently I had won a free hair cut! This couldn't have come at a more perfect time b/c I just had a terrible bang trim from SuperCuts a month ago.
The salon is located in a plaza very close to the Del Mar race track. It's cute and all the girls there are so sweet and nice. My stylist, Kate, made me feel right at home by offering me a beverage and we had a lovely conversation on one of my fav topics, BOYS! She was very knowledgeable of the products she used on my hair and didn't give me any attitude when I kept asking for my bangs to be shorter. She said I was welcome back for a free bang trim and I left the salon giving her a huge smile and a heavy tip.
A few weeks later, my stylist sent me a postcard reminding me of my free bang trim and wished me luck w/ the Frenchman I was dating. She remembered! I'm in love with this place...I normally hate spending a lot of money on hair, but I'm seriously thinking of coming back here the next time I need a cut. -

David, the CEO, contacted me post-1 star review and 1) apologized, 2) offered to refund my money and 3) offered any service I would like w/ Kate (the original stylist I went to, had a good experience with).
So I must commend the professional atmosphere and think my 2nd reviewed experience was a fluke. It seems from the message and from my 2 experiences in the salon that they mean buisness and I think any wrongdoing on a stylist's part will be corrected, so no fear.
I would recommend Salon Radius overall. Also I should add, since I believe in yelp as helpful tool for making decisions as a consumer, that I watched this one woman Amanda while I was there and she looked like she did a thorough job that had ended with the patron looking very nice. Hopefully that helps some ladies out there if/when they decide to book an appointment here.
I want to add the review joy S. is right, they are always on time.2 Previous Reviews: Show all »

Sometime I actually wish the salon is running late on their appointments so that I would have a few extra minutes to browse through its boutique items! But alas, they are always on time, unlike many salons I have frequented.
Stacey styles my hair, and she has the expertise and confidence to cut any modern and flattering hair styles to compliment your lifestyle. Kelly colors my hair, and she is very good at what she does, as well.
I love this salon for its cool and positive vibe, the friendly smiles and for the fact that it's just down the street from my house! -

I tried this place out because of the a promotion from LivingSocial. I have been on a search for a new salon for quite some time and liked it enough to make another appointment.
Overall I left there liking my color and trim. I'm not in LOVE with this salon, but definitely in like. There's just not really anything that makes it extraordinary. The people were nice - I was offered a drink several times - the wash/head massage was relaxing - the atmosphere cool. If you put all the salons in this price range together, Salon Radius holds it's own.
I notice that the Yelp price rating is only two dollar signs - I think that's wrong. I had a partial highlight and trim and my total was $170 + tip - that's more than a moderate price if you ask me. -

Always a treat to go in and have my hair done at this salon. The staff is welcoming, friendly, and most importantly knowledgeable. Great selection of hair care products and super cute accessories.
Amanda Ferguson has been cutting my hair for years and there is seriously no one better in the biz. She is absolutely amazing with a pair of scissors.
If you are looking to venture out and try a new salon I highly recommend giving this place a shot. Its conveniently located in Del Mar across the parking lot from one of my favorite restaurants Pamplemousse. -

SALON RADIUS=Super cute fresh decor w/modern paintings throughout, conveniently located off the 5 freeway, great customer service and skilled hairstylists!
Do you ever notice when someone's hair is rusty orange? Well...that's probably not the color that person chose:) This is why I continue to return to Salon Radius! My blond highlights stay blond and light just how I like it. The ppl here really know how to color!
Plus, if you sign up for their e-mail newsletters, you'll receive wonderful specials!! That means you can get a great deal on all your services. As a student, I'm always excited to get those e-mails.
If you're looking for a welcoming staff, some delicious complimentary cucumber melon water, friendly e-mail reminders, and an overall great salon...check this place out! I think I've been patronizing this salon for almost 4 years now and I've always left a happy customer. -

i get my hair cut about three times a year, whether i'm growing it out or not, and i usually am. i'd been going to a small nail shop in normal heights the past few years. they specialize in nails but they also do cut and color. the last time though, one inch off to me meant three inches off for her. so i knew i had to find another place.
1 text, 1 phone call message and 1 email all within a few minutes of each other later, my sister had me signing up for a livingsocial deal.
scott molnar. master designer. schwarzkopf color specialist.
the man has surely earned his stripes. my hair has never felt better. he was friendly, open, fun, knew his stuff, understood exactly what i wanted, gave me tips on how to get those stubborn long bangs to come out right after every wash/dry.
my hair is brown, though the ends tend to dry out and get annoying lighter then the rest of my head. when its this long - to about the center of my back - its downright unmanageable.
my hair is now a very natural, deep brown with many subtle highlights. the color treatment did not smell at all!! but the results - magnificent. i even had a deep conditioning treatment done. so whats that now? color, cut, deep conditioning, blow out.
i trust very few people with my hair. and scott, my man, you're at slot # 1.
go here. its good for you and your ego. ask for scott. -

The hair cut and highlight have been ok and reasonable for price/quality. The receptionists have been kind. I've been going here for almost a year. I'm giving it a lower star than I would just because they can be flakey - be prepared. They need to run their business better.
Here are two recent examples:
1) I get an email for a coupon from them for 50% off my next service. When I show up they tell me it was a computer glitch and only for people who don't go there anymore - so they wouldn't accept the coupon they sent me and offered me something like 20% off. - Sorry, I just don't think that's a way to do business.
2) My hairdresser told me that when I book a highlight that I need to make sure that I book a blow out too. She had booked someone else right after me and couldn't give me a quick trim, nor was able to blow out my hair - like how could I not realize that I needed to book to have my hair dried after getting it highlighted and shampooed?
Flakey.
But, if you can get past asking yourself "am I going crazy or is this nutty?" once in a while here, you'll have a fine haircut and highlight.
Definitely room for improvement though! -

This is the cutest salon i have ever been too! as soon as i walked in the 4 women behind the front desk were all really friendly and said hello to me.
there is also a small boutique inside of the salon where you can buy purses, and jewelry.
the best thing ever was that my haircut was free. the girl who did my hair needed a model for her beauty school hours i guess, so i emailed her, and she told me to come in today! she asked me if i wanted anything to drink. i said water and she said, "with lemon, lime, cucumber, or Perrier." Oooh, Perrier please!!! it took about 3 hours but i had no where to go so i was ok with it! my hair turned out fabulously!! and they use Bumble and Bumble products, which made my hair smell so good! -

Salon Radius is THE place to go for a haircut. You are always welcome with a smile, offered a drink, and pampered like at no other place. My stylist is Kate and I highly recommend her for her kindness and her dedication to the perfect haircut. As the son of a hairdresser, I know what I am talking about.
My mom also went while she was visiting the States, and she was delighted by the outstanding service provided by Kate.
The entire staff is attentive and super fun. The salon is welcoming and nicely decorated.

Del Mar, CA
Kate Willian gave me an amazing haircut! I have long blond hair and go for a classic, simple look. I've had many haircuts in which I describe exactly what I'm looking for in detail and for some reason, the stylists think it's a good idea to go ahead and give me more layers than I ever requested.
Kate was affordable (only $45), quick, detail oriented, and happy to both chat and let me relax in silence. I would recommend the salon any day of the week.
P.S. They do play very pop/Top 40/B Spears music which gets pretty old, but I'm okay suffering through bad music to get a great haircut. -

I had been going to a salon in Del Mar (which will remain unnamed) for years and years, but after a bad cut and a hairstylist who lost her temper whilst blow-drying my long, thick hair, I decided that it was time for a change. I actually found out about Salon Radius via Yelp and thought I'd give it a try. I booked a same-day appointment with Stacy.
I was immediately offered drinks and a robe to change into upon my arrival by a friendly concierge, followed by a quick tour of the salon.
When I sat down to get my hair cut, Stacy took a few minutes to discuss what I wanted. She was very attentive and I could tell that she was also taking my personal style into consideration to determine a cut that would compliment me. Stacy was extremely personable and it was a joy to get my hair cut by her.
Salon Radius is an experience. They are respectful, professional, and personable - everything that a business should be. I was also delighted to pay the same amount for a hair-cut at a salon like this as opposed to my old salon, which didn't even come close to replicating this relaxing atmosphere. I'm hooked! -

Del Mar, CA
Saw good reviews on Yelp and conveniently located near my house, so had to try it out. I was also in desperate need of a cut because I was leaving on a trip the next day. Overall service was good, but my cut was just ok. I didn't really get a full consultation, just kinda told her how I'd like my hair cut. Since I have long thin hair I had asked for A LOT of layers, but what I ended up with was just a few at the ends. I also felt like they were uneven on the left and right sides. I actually ended up getting my hair cut again with my old stylist!
Maybe it depends on the stylist you get, I can't remember her name. I don't think she had worked there for long. I also wasn't offered any drinks :P And the place is tiny! Also please note the salon has a 24 hour cancellation policy, else they will charge you the FULL amount. I had actually booked my appointment that same day (so it was virtually impossible to give a 24 hour cancellation notice) yet they didn't care. wtf!Comment from David L. of Salon Radius 11/3/2009

I recently had a cut and color from Salon Radius. Upon my arrival, the girls at the front desk were very friendly, but still very professional. My stylist, Stacey, listened very closely to what I wanted with my cut and I got exactly that. She was really sweet, as well. I volunteered as a hair model to get my hair colored a week later, and for a discounted price, I got a great color, exactly the way I wanted it. The salon is beautiful and in a good location. I will definitely be returning to this salon for all my cuts and color treatments.

my boy friend found this salon for me because i was looking for a new place to get my hair cut. i was pretty excited seeing all the reviews so i made an appointment.
first of all my time was double booked and the appointment was give to the other person (this person turned out to be someone from the news so i guess i understand). when i gave them a call back to try to re book i was told that they would just squeeze me in between customers.
i get there and the girls at the front desk were so sweet and showed me around because i was new so that lifted my spirits after getting "squeezed in"
i ended up waiting from one fifteen to about two o'clock and when i finally get into the chair it was literally *snip snip* "oh there is my next customer."
my hair is super fine and you have to take a little bit of care to cut it or it will look like it has just been chopped off.
this is not the type of customer care that i expect when i paid SIXTY DOLLARS for a haircut. -

Solana Beach, CA
I found Salon Radius on here last summer after I just moved to Solana Beach. It had a 5 star rating so I was really excited to try it. When I walked in they are very warm and welcoming and immediately offer you something to drink and a robe while you wait which is great, but I didn't leave the salon feeling my best and the amount I spent should have left me feeling that way. I have been to the salon a few times trying to see if it was a fluke, but haven't had the best luck. The last time I went in for a color, my stylist told me if I had any issues with it to let her know. I came in the next week for a cut and told her I didn't like the color and she told me that next time I came in we would just do something different. I was very disappointed that she didn't offer to correct it. The salon itself is super cute and the stylists seem like they really enjoy what they do. I just personally didn't have the best experience.
