Aubrey left my favorite salon :( I'm not one to follow, so I've been on the hunt for a new stylist for a few months now. I don't know what it is about the place that makes me feel I belong here, but I returned to Pompeo and found yet another stylist that I'll return to see.

Deanna, the salon owner, recommended Abbey to me. I made an appointment easy-peasey for just a trim. When I arrived, they paged Abbey...5, 10, 15 minutes go by. Three people came in the door and were ushered to the back. Finally, Lisa (the general manager) asked if I was still waiting on Abbey (uh, yeah?!) and went back to get her. Abbey appeared, apologizing and saying that she didn't hear the page. Hmm...rough start, but I won't hold it against her.

Abbey shampooed me herself, then took me over to her chair. She didn't take very long to cut off 2 inches, but then again my hair is super fine and very manageable. She talked to me and 2 other coworkers the whole time and I kind of wondered if she was really concentrating on the cut. But her bubbly personality opened up after a bit and we had a really friendly conversation.

She really wowed me though when it came time to style. I don't know how many times I usually have to repeat to stylists which side I part on, and I always end up re-fixing it when I get home. Not this time! Abbey didn't even have to ask how to part it (bonus!) and she styled it super duper cute. Why I can't repeat the style at home on my own, I'll never know.

I think my search has ended...at least for now!

If you go here, only ask for Veronica. She is a great stylist and an awesome person. I left Dallas and lived in SF for a year and never found another stylist nearly as good as her. My hair is difficult to cut (straight, thick, asian hair) but she does a great job each and every time. The salon itself is nice, but to me it's the stylists that make the salons great, and Veronica is the best.

My favorite is Abel. I've gone to him a bunch of times for a variety of looks and he has perfected them all. He is also really cool and laid back so he's not bad to spend a few hours with. I'm normally super picky about the way they style it after, and he is the ONLY stylist that I've ever liked how they blow dried. To top it off, the bar makes it a really fun environment. What could be better than sipping wine and gettin your hair done? I've also recommended him to a few people and everyone has absolutely loved him.

Because I'm new to town, and don't have a consistent hair person yet, I've had my hair cut and colored by three different people at this shop. The first time it was on a recommendation, the next two, because it was available. It's close, takes last minute bookings (my style...) and seem to charge what other places do. However, for the way they are reviewed and the way they have their reviews plastered on their walls, I'd say they're a teeny bit ... whats that word? Overrated.

Each time I've gone in, I've been greeted by someone ten times cooler than I am, and therefore, I've had to wait a few minutes before they ask, 'Who are you here to see?' Then I wait another ten minutes at least before that person comes to tell me to wait another five minutes. I'm offered a drink, as if it's a consolation prize.

I hear my hair stylist (two out of three of them) gabbing, chatting it up, or literally, playing, in the back of the salon while I wait up front. Time goes by. Tip goes down.

The cut and color are fine. I think my color fades quickly and could have been left in longer every time, but I leave with a cut I"m happy with.

What really bugs me are the immature attitudes of the people who work there. It's my time and money and hair (duh) so stop chasing your coworker around who keeps taping a sign on your back, and cut my hair already. (seriously, they were doing that as I sat there waiting mid-haircut; it was like first grade in there).

I've tried three times, and I've never been that impressed. I'm on to find a new hair place. Any recommendations?

Ok..seeing as to how I lived right across the street from this place..I figured I'd try it out..well with my first experience it was a little sketchy. The girl that was given my appointment ASSUMED that I had weave in my hair just because I was black, without even checking..which it was all mine..so she left me, and came back with marquinn,(who's black)..and Im soo glad that she did..he was great, even though he talks on his cellphone half of the time..he's good at what he does..I always got compliments on my hair..but as for the white chick who's afraid to do something different..you might wanna find another job...

I'm new to Dallas and don't have a stylist I know and like.  I went to Pompeo because it was in my neighborhood and got decent reviews in D Magazine, etc.  They only charge $45 for new clients, but you have to know who your stylist is. I had my first cut with Kelly G. and despite asking her to only trim and bevel the ends of my shoulder length hair she cut the sides & crown so short that I couldn't put my hair into a ponytail - despite the fact that I specifically told her my hair had to stay long enought to put back for work.   I was reading a magazine and didn't check on what she was doing (first mistake).  She basically cut my hair into a mullet that I couldn't style or put into a ponytail and it looked awful.

Luckily, the salon policy is that they will re-cut your hair if you're not satisfied. I asked for a more senior stylist and got Veronica, who listened to everything I said and did a very careful and stylish job.
I would definitely recommend her to anyone.

I am still puzzled as to why the salon owner did not respond to my emails requesting info on what the salon policy is regarding bad cuts.  Either this salon is neglecting their correspondence or they are not interested - not good either way.

So: long story short - Pompeo seems like a decent salon but just make sure you get a good stylist (like Veronica and NOT Kelly G).
