This place is great! I've gotten my haircut here several times. I discovered it after getting bushwacked from the scary lady at Great Clips. She kept accidentally clipping my ears, and saying " Sorry , *grunt* Sweet."
I had to move on from the female Leatherface....The original dancing Korean lady ruled " dance with me, it time to Paw-tay!", but she had been AWOL fo eva....
Needless to say, I drove around the corner to Park St and chose this over Supercuts. I mean, isn't SuperCuts below Great Clips on the totem pole?
So I have had 4 different different people cut my hair here, 2 women 2 men.
They all do a pretty good job. At first I was unsure about having a guy do up my Cuban locks, but the last guy that cut my hair probably did the best job of them all, so hey, you live and you learn.
$19 for men ( leave a tip too you punk!) and you are ready to walk among the rest of society once again, but with more visible ears.
Thanks for keeping me handsome, Salon One.
Great rates, friendly service, experience...what more can you ask for in a hair salon? I literally just got home from getting my roots touched up along with a haircut and brow wax with Crystal; I wanted to hop on Yelp and write a quick review, I tend to put things off =) I wanted to make sure Salon One got its well deserved praise. Thank you so much Crystal for EVERYTHING! You're so sweet and girl, you DO know your hair! My hair feels so soft and the color and cut looks as if I paid $$$$ for! Thanks for the reasonable rates and the quality service Salon One!
And to Bob who wrote a review back in July about them trying to sell you products and being unfriendly etc...I think you must be thinking of a different salon cause that was not the impression I got at all... As a matter of fact I had to ask them about products cause they didn't try to sell me anything, just straight up good quality, friendly service. Not once did I hear them speak amongst themselves in Vietnamese. Everyone was very professional and efficient.
Check me off as a repeat client! You'll see me again.
Well, not to turn this into my haircut blog, but I thought I should post an update.
I've been going around with my updated look for a few weeks now. I've been noticing more girls smiling at me. Seriously!
Well, if any girls smile at me, that would count as "more" I guess. But it's been happening every week. I don't think they're laughing at me, anyways.
Got another trim this week, and Jasmin did some more work. Kind of like a short spikey barely faux hawk now.
So far, one really nice smile. I should keep track and make it an experiment, haha.

I've been wearing my hair in a short flat top for the longest time. Every time I see Jasmin, she… Read more »
I got my Hair cuts by crystal this is what I GET: Bad service, Bad attitude, ( (very rude)) telling me how to tips and owner didn't do anything about it. I don't recommend it to anyone. Also the towels is extremely dirty and not clean at all! You should check their record on health inspection violation for more info.
I've gone to Salon One several times and have always received the "BEST" service. I have worked with everyone there including the Owner Jasmine who always treats me and each customer I've seem in the best and most heart-warming way she can. The staff there is always friendly and always makes sure I leave satisfied. I have not once left there second guessing my Hair Cut. I'm happy to say that I have recommended Salon One to several people and they feel the same way. I know I am extremely happy to finally find a regular place to get a hair cut, walk in and FEEL AT HOME.
I learned of this salon from my former classmate at the University. I saw her hair one day and it had nice lengths and was really trimmed well. She mentioned about Salon One and Tina (hair dresser). So the following week (around 2007 or 2008), I paid Tina a visit. I had a positive experience the first time and every time I come visit for a hair up-do. My boyfriend also had a positive feedback with Tina's work on him. I also have a friend who goes to Salon One and she definitely have a nice hair cut. As a female I don't go to salons every two weeks, so when I do, I definitely go to Salon One to have my hair pampered by Tina even though it means driving across the Bay bridge for it. Thanks Tina for helping me build that confidence in you. Keep up the good work. So yeah, for those trying to get their hair pampered I recommend Tina of Salon One.
Patience is a virtue, right?
Well guess what.....impatience is the ugly fraternal twin sister to patience and it is not a virtue. It is a sloppy little bitch who fucked me over today.
Meet: me. A girl who invited a brief and passing thought to move in on the 1st date. I tried to fill in my brows this morning ( to match my new and improved "deeply brown espresso" hair color) and realized that doing so, would create little furry chocolate caterpillars above my eyes. Thus, I needed a waxing.
I happened to be in Alameda this afternoon, standing at the counter of A little place in the south shore shopping area looking desperately into the eyes of some barely pubescent and awkwardly blonde clerk, asking for Magda. Magda, the angel in a smock, was not working (in fact the whole salon was closed) so I ventured out in search of a new place to shed my extra brow hair.
Last minute - Sunday Afternoon? What did I expect? A lot. What I got was shit. Actually, what I got was a seat inside SALON ONE.
Pros- they took me within ten minutes.
- I still have my eyebrows.
Cons- the woman but wax on my eyeLIDS
- it burned
- I got an instant headache
- .......and I got a litte blister looking thing.
SuperDuperCon - she asked me if she could wax my lip.
I'm sorry. What? My lip? Listen up good, I am a natural blonde (all-be-it dishwater blonde) but still, there is no hair on my upper lip, and if it were it would be blonde. Click on my profile for a close up. Seriously - I was insulted and in pain. I feel like an ass as well, because I was instantly unhappy, but tipped her anyway to be nice.
*oi*
My brows still feel sensitive 8 hours later and that has never happened to me before. I've never actually been uncomfortable getting waxed. Salon one gets two stars because hey - I could've come out of the situation with a.) no brows, or b.) stick thin brows.
I got a quick little trim here and a shampoo. They did a great job, and they were honest about not redoing my highlights. Sometimes you worry when you ask about something that they will automatically do it because it is more money. So, I was happy to have them say "next haircut".

They've really done great by me. I've gotten different style cuts over the last two years, and they… Read more »
Salon One rocks! I used to go to a *much* higher priced salon on the island, and find the cut and style I get at Salon One is just as good. The best part is that I can usually get in when I need to, not have to plan weeks in advance and take time off of work. Jasmin is awesome, very up on the latest looks.. Crystal also gives a great cut. Not a lot of "frills" but a good quality salon that has reasonable prices. Best on the island no doubt.
I was having my hair cut by Jasmin years before Salon One existed. Since I was about 7 years old actually. I am now 17 years old and my entire family has followed Jasmin to her very own salon, Salon One. Jasmin is not only an extremely skilled and professional hair stylist, she is also an exceptional person. Her graciousness and caring attitude has made it so easy for me to be faithful to her salon. She is generous and caring and if you have a problem with your hair, or the way she did it, she will fix it right away. Every single stylist she has working at her salon is incredible and I feel comfortable with all of them working on my hair. As soon as you step into this salon, you feel like family. I have never been disappointed with the way my hair has turned out. There are pictures on my profile of my hair if any one would like to take a look. I just happened to get it done the day before yesterday, and I have pictures up of it now.
Don't pass up the extraordinary talent at Salon One.
Being Asian with pitch black hair, I wanted to go for a lighter color. I've been to many salons and got it lightened, but never to a color that I truly wanted. I told Tina what I wanted and she said she will try her best to get it to a light brown. It was a light brown, and I decided I to add hi-lights. I have not yet had a chance to upload my new hair-do, but it will be uploaded soon so you can see what magical fingers Tina has. Absolutely reccomend Salon one/stylist Tina.
go to crystal for everything here... i've gotten my hair cut by a few of the other people there (i think a lot of them have since left.. and crystal in my opinion is by far the best that have been there over the past two years ). She just knows how I like my hair cut, always makes time for me, and really makes it an enjoyable experience.
Tina is amazing! This is honestly the first time I've ever walked into a salon, had my haircut and sat there in shock, amazed at such a transformation. Tina was extremely thorough with all types of shears & she even took the time to style my hair awesome. All day I received compliments from random strangers. I will definitely be back!
I also saw Jasmine on a walk in basis last week, and I thought she did a good job!
I told her what I wanted and she cut it very well. I was very happy with it but I wasn't happy that they charged so much. Well, I thought it was expensive for a cut-$30 plus tip! All she did was cut it.
I dont know...but I probably will be returning. It's so hard to find a really good hair stylist these days and she did do a good job.
I was pretty happy with is. Now my hair looks so much better, healthier, and just all around GOOD!
Do you want to go to a place where the owners really care about your haircut? Then Salon ONE is the place to go. I live in SF and drive well out of my way to this little nirvanna of a place. Everyone really does care how you look and will go out of their way to make sure you are happy. My only complaint is that i wish they had one in SF too!
I have been going to Crystal for almost two years now. I first went into Salon one to get my eyebrows done. Crystal did them every other week, and talked me into getting my hair done too. I have very very thick curly impossible to manage hair. I am in my thirties now, and had actually given up on hair dressers. They always insisted on cutting it too short, would blow dry it, and make it a frizzy mess disaster. Not only that they always refused to thin my hair when I asked them too! I've had my hair braided, chemically relaxed, and worn in it very short in the past. Crystal approached my hair completely differently--she straightened it (naturally with a Chi), then cut it styled it, and thinned it. I never knew my hair could look so good, and healthy. I can now wear it long and wear it straight some days and curly others. She even got me to do highlights today, and they look amazing. I highly recommend Crystal at Salon One, especially if you have hard to manage hair.
My friend called and made me an appointment with Jasmine! but she wasnt there so someone did my hair... I dont know her name... but wellz... after 40 minutes... I got a very very simply hair do that I could do at home... and they charge me 50 bucks for that!! aniwaiz.. I WAS very UNHAPPY that I dint leave anitipz!
Both Jen and I have gotten our hair cut by Howie. We don't know anything about any of the other sylists. But Howie did a razor cut on me and it looked so good that I try to arrange my haircuts based on when I'm in the Bay Area. I've had the same trouble matt capital R had. I have a simple hair style that gets screwed up by lots of people. Howie does a good job.
Jen's hair is totally different, and he did a great job on her too.
Reasonably priced. Man's cut no hairwash $18
Since then, I've been to Tina b/c Howie is on vacation. Tina's good. If I didn't know about Howie and his razor cut, I would love Tina.
I have a really simple guy-hairstyle. And I'm not really picky about it either. It either. So I've never been able to figure out why so many places manage to get it wrong. I started coming to Salon One after deciding I'd had enough of the hit or miss quality at Supercuts next door.
I think I'm the only male who gets his hair cut here. They all know me by name and everyone says hi to me all at once when I walk in. It's adorable.
Everyone who works here has cut my hair at one point or another, and I've never been unsatisfied. Jenna & Desi in particular are really good, and Desi gives great dating advice.
Crystal knows guys hair
Just got my haircut from Salon One for the umpteenth time and like usual, nothing but Awesome! I have been coming to Salon One for two years now and have had nothing but the best haircuts in my life. Leslie is who I go to every single time and it is always the same, a perfect haircut with a smile and kindness that is so rare to find nowadays. She knows how to cut a fade (blends levels), unlike Supercuts that does a "one love" (One Level, not a FADE!). All the stylists, know me by name and say "hi" to me every single time I walk in, which can't be expected anywhere else.
The service is fantastic, as I schedule an appointment after every haircut (every 3-4 weeks). Jazmin is such a sweetheart, they didn't have the big bottles of American Crew gel on display, so she went upstairs and brought down a bottle specifically for me.
If you need a haircut from a salon that outperforms all, go to Salon One and become a regular like me.
Jenna is really good at doing highlights. Especially touch-ups...She does a good job of keeping the same pattern and not over doing.
Jenna is no longer working I heard
This is great place that always has space so great for walk-ins or last minute jobs. I have had my haircut (generally just trims not new styling) and they always blow dry and straighten too. Price is very reasonable considering what I used to pay in SF. I now use SF salon only for radical changes and Salon One for maintenance. I have tried Jenna, Tina, Howie, and Leslie for color too and have been pleased with color and or highlights especially the $$. They do nice job on eyebrows too.
I went to this salon after reading its reviews on Yelp, and all I can say is that it is AMAZING! The ladies were very friendly and attentive, but most importantly, it was SO cheap and the results were as promised. I paid $65.00 for partial highlights and got the same, if not better, results as I did with my former hairstylist who charged me $110.00. Needless to say, I will be a return customer.
The stylist here was really attentive and managed to give me the haircut that I wanted, even though at the time of the cut, I couldn't say what I wanted, except to make it look better. But I'm pleased by what he has done. Will definitely go back there again!
Jasmine is really the only one you can trust here. I've tried other ladies and none have been as sucessful with my hair as Jasmine. The females in my family have been visiting her for years now and she always remembers us and manages to squeeze us in. I remember I had to attend a nice dinner and I called Jasmine and when she heard I was going out, she told me to come immediately in, and she had 3 people working on my hair..one cutting.. one blow drying.. one straightening.. talk about service. I also got an updo done here for my junior prom and it was not worth 50 bucks, I waited 2 hours and it was nothing like I wanted.
Why does finding a right hair stylist so difficult? I've tried for years with no luck. Then again, i'm not willing to pay crazy money for a cut either.
So recently I think i found the right solution. You gotta bring a picture of the hair cut you want. Don't assume b/c they cut your hair before, they can cut it the same way again. Bring the picture every time.
At Salon One, the stylist was able to get the cut I wanted in the picture. Yeah!!!
I love this place. Everyone knows what they're doing and my hair always comes out great!
Desi is great for a style, and Jasmine is great for a cut. I go in for a shampoo/dry/straightening, style for only $23. Wow!!!
As a person that travels for work it is hard to find a good salon. I usually have a hard time finding one and try many before I get a good one. A coworker suggested Salon One on Park St in Alameda, CA to me. I was able to get appointment with Jasmine. My first visit I thought she was very professional and had a great consultation. The hair cut turned out great. It was exactly what we talked about. By the next visit I needed highlights. Usually with my hair being short people pull it through the cap. It does not come out looking as natural and a lot of the time it is brassy. Again, Jasmine took the time to consult with me on exactly what I wanted and ended up taking the time to foil my hair. If you have short hair you know that this is harder and takes much longer but looks better. After all was said and done the color came out perfect. The next day I received many compliments from coworkers stating that it looked so natural. I have and will continue to recommend Jasmine to everyone. The pricing is very resonable as well.
