I went to this salon based on a recommendation from a friend. I had highlights and a hair cut with Travis. He's really awesome! He listened to what I wanted to do with my hair, but added his own unique twist. It was better than I could imagine! I also love hair stylists who love to chat and a great personality (which is Travis). I would highly recommend Travis to everyone! I liked the service and my hair so much, I texted my friend to tell her to get her hair done, and she scheduled an appointment the same day...and LOVED Travis and her new 'do.
I walked out of the salon feeling *GORGEOUS*, confident, and ready to go out on the town! :-)
The salon itself seems very "modern." The mirrors and electrical plugs were all hanging from tension wires from the ceiling, which (as from an engineering standpoint) was very fascinating to me. They serve complimentary mimosas, wine, soda, water, etc. The hair wash "station" includes a massage chair! All the staff is very friendly! It doesn't get better than that!
I've been going to Marissa for 3+ years now- and let me tell you, she ROCKS! She ALWAYS listens and appreciates photes to give her an idea of what you are talking about. She stays in touch with trends, but is by no means trying to cut everyones hair in a trendy way.. The new salon is WONDERFUL and bright! Short haircuts are always hard to maintain and cut well- lets just say that Marissa has never dissapointed!
I really like this place. My haircutter was May, and she's a sweet lady from Ohio, who used to be a Registered Nurse...but now cuts hair. I am kinda picky, because....well....I'm LOSING MY F#$%^&ING HAIR!!!....sorry...I'm ok...
Anyway, May offered me a glass of wine - and it was not too shabby, either - tasted pretty good for haircut place wine, in my view. Then she asked me what I wanted, and proceeded to give me an almost perfect haircut exactly as I described and requested. What more can you ask for? Oh, and when she shampooed me, she gave me an awesome skull massage...I was in heaven for about a minute there.
Everyone there is very friendly, and of course the owner is a very cool gay guy - so you know you'll be getting a decent haircut. Half the women I know swear by this place - and most of the women I know are picky as HELL...so take that info as you will...or leave it.
Oh, and they sent me a follow-up card, which was a nice touch.
The haircut was, I think, $40, which is cheaper than my previous place by $10...but I'm still confused by how FAST decent men's haircuts went from like $15 to $40-50....seems like it happened overnight...or maybe while I was married. I dunno.
I went to SOK about a month ago, and Andrew L. cut & colored my hair. He did a great job, and I was really pleased with the results. He's a good listener, which helps alot. Go see Andrew! I'll be going back soon for root touch up. Thanks, Andrew.
