I have been coming down to Santa Monica from the Bay Area for the past three years to have Tim take care of my hair .

I have curly hair but always want the sleek look and feel of super straight hair. Tim is definately one expert in getting this look. He's done my hair staightening for the past three years and I cannot be more happy with him. He always lets me know why he uses certain products and follows up with me after treatment for results and comparison. My hair is straight and sleek and has earned me numerous compliments.

BTW, Tim's great at cuts too. He always listens to my needs and gives great suggestions. He totally takes of my hair!

I second the vote for Ann Marie. She has been cutting my hair for awhile now and I am always happy with the results. It's obvious that she really enjoys what she does and her cuts are always extremely flattering and current. She also does my color, which can be challenging as my hair is very resistant and can fade quickly. She's mastered the formula, technique and products to keep my color rich between appointments and that is a first. Her prices are very reasonable and she never tries to up-sell or push products. If you want products, though, ask - the salon just started carrying Keratese and that stuff is great.

Helen is the best hairdresser with two hands. Hands down, she is the most talented, friendly and gifted hair stylist in the vicinity. I love this place, everyone is very friendly and the coffee is robust! My hair always looks great afterwards and the wash is orgasmic. Try it!
Ask for Helen...you wont regret it.

I'm a bit surprised that I am the first to review this place, but here goes...

I've been getting my hair done at Kenneth George for over a year and overall I've been pretty satisfied.  The price point for their services is (in my opinion) pretty reasonable for a full service salon.  They raised their prices maybe 4 or 5 months ago, but still I get single process color, cut and style for $150.  I'd think this was a tad expensive if I were still in Dallas, but it seems completely reasonable in LA!  (When I used to do highlights, it was in the $250-275 neighborhood for partial highlights, single process, cut and style.)

The space is large, open and clean.  There are 8-10 stylists working weekend day shifts.  They use Bedhead products, along with some others, so it is not as fancy as the Aveda salon I used to frequent, but I actually like the shampoo and other products that they use on my hair  - I was skeptical at first.  And (this is just me, but) there is something to be said for using chemicals to process your hair if it is fine and limp in its natural state.

I usually go for the first appointment of the day on weekend mornings in order to avoid the inevitable falling behind on appointment times that occurs as weekend days go on, and typically I don't have long dead periods between color and cut (though they do tend to schedule one interim haircut while my color is processing).  Usually my stylist is the one to wash and rinse my hair too, but they do have several assistants on each shift to help out if the stylist has too much on his/her plate.

There is also a Kenneth George Day Spa two doors down, for people interested in combining salon and spa services.  I've been to that once for a pedicure (appointments seem to be a bit hard to come by) and once for a facial.  Not worth a separate review, since I haven't really had the full spa experience, but it is clean and I'd use their services again.

I say check it out if you are looking for a new, non-fussy salon!
