This is the GEM of all hair salons! The environment is warm and professional, without any attitude. From the receptionist to the stylists to even the owner (who is usually working away alongside the stylists) you will find nothing but the best. The personal attention is paramount to anywhere else - expect your stylist to work on you and only you. This is a place where you feel comfortable saying exactly what you want and getting it, or experimenting with guidance for a great result.
If you want the best, try to get in with Lexi. She is a godsend when it comes to scissors and color.
I have been going to Jennifer (Jen) to get my hair colored and cut for 8 years. I love it and I get a ton of compliments on the color of my hair. In fact, I never tell her what to do she just makes it look awesome. Never have had a bad experience here. TOTALLY worth the price I pay. I have sent some friends there and they often say how expensive it is. I personally go every 6 weeks and I get what I pay for. Perfect Hair. Oh, and BTW my husband goes to Holly Jennifer's sister. She's awesome too, and has done my hair when I couldn't get in with Jen.
My barber/stylist stopped working at Weldon Barber so I followed her over to this Salon for a short while until she eventually found a home at Rudy's. Thankfully this Salon is actually closer to where I live. Anyway my haircut was great as expected. But why two stars. Well the place ran almost $40 for a haircut, and well nothing about the place seemed really that spectacular to warrant the very expensive haircuts. At Weldon the prices were actually lower, the place felt more luxurious, you got a hot towel neck shave, scalp massage, and free soda/coffee/bottled water while waiting.
I figured Salon Matarazzo is more tailored for female haircuts and etc. But my girlfriend actually got her haircut and colored here a while back and she also felt the same way. A little expensive and not that impressive to warrant the price. The people were friendly, but as the two stars says "Meh. I've experienced better".

I started going here after reading lots of positive reviews on seattle.citysearch. And overall, I agree, it's an upscale establishment with highly trained and friendly staff. I get my haircut by Ron, the owner, and it's always excellent. No complaints other than a wee bit pricey, but not out of the ordinary for good haircare these days.
I did get my hair colored once by Chloe-- highly disappointed in that. She didn't listen to what I wanted though I felt I was very specific. She was too busy telling me about the sale she got on "true religions" at Nordies or something to pay attention to my hair requirements. I will try Ron for color next time.
my sister, her mother-in-law, our mom, and i had our hair done by 2 sisters (sorry, forgot names!) for my sister's wedding and they were superb. i would give 5 stars except that they charged $50 for just washing my mom's hair without styling, all done within 30 minutes when i had made a 1 hour long appt for her...
holly (i think that's her name) was so glamorous in her styling. she was uber fun and i received many compliments throughout the day for the lovely style.
