It took me several months after moving to Austin to find a salon I enjoyed. I am, actually, a high-maintenance girl, but I do a lot of it myself...except for my hair, which is baby-fine and limp as a dishrag. I've been searching far and wide for a salon that has the girly, trendy atmosphere while still being therputic and not too tough on the wallet.

Kerizma, you have saved the day! I have gone there twice, and already have my third appointment in the books! Brittany is adorable (and so young!) and has an amazing eye for talent. She's very easy-going and cheerful, and I love how everyone consults with each other when making decisions on hair color, etc.

Their main salon room is adorned with antique pieces--velvet-upholstered chairs, beautiful framed photographs (also done by the stylists) and just an overall turn of the century bedroom feel.

Enough about the atmosphere--on to the haircut! The stylists really listen to what you want, but will also give their opinions if you ask for it. (As a rule, I always do.) The greatest thing about the haircuts with Brittany is that they look fabulous even as you're growing out--even up to the last week before your next appointment, your hair will still look great! Way better than past haircuts I've received.

This place definitely needs more reviews. C'mon Yelpers! Show this place a little love!

I am not a high maintenance kinda girl, but I'm learning! :) I don't get regular mani-pedis, I don't get anything waxed but my eyebrows, and I don't get alot of facials unless they're $12.50 (thanks Ave 5!). All that girly stuff  I do myself at home instead.  But Spring is in the air, I been workin out, got a fun in the sun vacay around the corner, and, alas!, I have been gettin the gray hairs, soo I thought I would treat myself to hair cut and color. Those grays just keep poppin up like a freakin Whack-a-mole game, only I'm hittin em with tweezers instead of a mallet (ouch!).

I say all this to illustrate how completely ignorant I was when I went to this salon. When I met Melissa, she asked "So what you wanna do?" and I just shrugged and said "I don't know. What YOU wanna do?" So she very politely and sweetly said "We can do ANY. THING." I thought the fact that I had put some at-home red in my hair for Carnaval a few months ago, would complicate things, but she wasn't scerred. She just said "Leave it to me and you will be gorgeous!" She was as excited as I was about it! And she did what she promised! Took my hair back to near its normal brunette (all over color) and gave me bright highlights too as well as a nifty cut! Hubby says I look younger. Went from old hag back to beautiful young princess (and felt it too!). My hair is gonna shine on that beach! Put ya shades on!

One other note, I got my eyebrows waxed by Nick and he also did a great job. In fact, what I liked is he did one side, gave me a mirror and asked me if it was perfect. I liked that! I asked him to thin it a little more and he was so sweet about it. Did em perfectly!

Another note is I always get frustrated by flaky hair stylists. You know. You find a great one and next haircut you find out they've moved on. Happens all the time. They flit around like butterflies in the flower patch. But Melissa says all the stylists here have been there almost since they opened 7 years ago and they are all so happy there, don't ever want to leave. So as long as she's not movin, then me either!

One final note. They don't have enough stylists for walk-ins so you have to make an appointment. Fact, the stylists make their own individually so they know when to come in. And the salon can be hard to spot. You need to be on the old 183 section going north towards Lakeline and it's right before the pawn shop which is right before the Jungle Juice.  Worth the search tho!
