I was a hair model for the lovely Mallory P
[ http://www.yelp.com/us...]
this past Monday, and she did a lovely job giving me a long layer cut. The salon itself was nice and the co-owner seemed to be a good mentor and very thorough and knowledgeable.
Ummmm. so...I have short hair (kind of) again.
And, I like it. Because let's face it...I am not a long hair person. I have tried. And, failed. It's not like pixie short, but it's...shorter.
SO thank you to the most adorable Mallory P for guiding me back to my true shorter haired self. She did a stellar job...honestly. I was her *hair model...so my cut was free. Yes, free. For one of the better haircuts I've had in my day. And, I've had a lot of them...(obviously, tips are customary, so don't forget!)
Despite visiting many of the surrounding suburbs before I found Salon Fusion (screw Mapquest for eternity), my experience was just dandy. Warm, inviting, clean...stylish. Mallory is a doll...visit her!
*Mallory is taking "hair models" (yes, be a model!) every Monday through the winter/spring. PM her for info! http://www.yelp.com/us...
It was time to get highlights again. I had dyed my hair dark about a year and a half ago after being a blonde my whole life. Eventually, my natural hair color grew in which was fine. It's that dark blonde/mousy color that washes your facial features out. Anyway, I had been contemplating for a while if I should get some natural looking highlights and I finally told myself YES!
I was referred to see Marisa at Salon Fusion by a coworker of mine. I nervously went into the salon, hoping that I would not come out with freaky, blondish streaks in my hair. The whole experience at Salon Fusion was GREAT. Marisa was super nice and has been doing color for a long time. She used to work side by side with the actual Mario Triccoci for 15 years. She knew exactly what she was doing and I'm really happy with the outcome. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because it's a little pricey.
Check out Marisa for color/highlights!
I recently went to this salon for the first time as a member of a bridal party. My stylist was Dmitri and he gave me a fabulous updo. I loved that he did not stop until he was happy with the complete result - he tried several styles on my hair. I love perfectionists! The other stylists, whose names I do not know, also gave the other 5 bridesmaids and the bride incredible looking updos. All I can say is, WOW. They did amazing jobs, all of them. These stylists know their shiznitz, and they were all personable and very competent. They were fast, meticulous, and very good at what they do. Everyone looked great.
The interior is very stylized and hip, and I did not get a "snooty" or "haughty" impression from anyone there. On the contrary, they were all very personable, excited for the bride, and wished her well. I'd like to come back another time for a haircut or highlights. The salon is located in a little strip mall, so it is easy to park.
My one final comment -- all the stylists here - men/women - are gorgeous, too. Nice eye candy while you get your hair done. Sorry, ladies, but all the hot male stylists are married/taken.
I went for a partial highlights and cut and I hated both of them. My highlights came out so freakin' brassy and orange/yellow and worse of all chunky - they are the ugliest highlights I've ever gotten.
And the cut - the guy totally thinned out my hair. I don't know how, but it looks like I have half the amount of hair I had before I went in. And I was observing one of the owners (Dimitri) cut someone else's hair and for someone that has like 10 years experience and is a teacher of whatever he did not look like he did anything better than a student fresh out of beauty school couldn't do. I will never go back and based on what happened to me and what I saw on other clients I would not recommend this place to anyone.
