Salon Femia came highly recommended to me from a friend who lives in Somerville, so I figured that I'd check it out since I've had some pretty bad hair experiences in Boston lately.

Although my appointment was scheduled for 2:30, my hair didn't start getting washed until about 3:10, but they told me that they were running late and asked if I wanted to grab a coffee. I totally appreciated it!

Ornella was the one who cut my hair and she did a great job. She totally understood what I wanted and she delivered 100%, while being gentle with my hair (which is a huge deal)!

My cut was only $35, and they recommended products to help me with my new 'do. WARNING: They did take credit cards, but they don't accept tips on any debit or credit cards. It was a good thing that I had some extra time to spare so I could run to the ATM for some cash!

I've been looking for a place that I can call "my hair salon", and I think I've found it.

My Salon Femia experience can be summed up as follows: the problem with first impressions is that you only get one.

I was mentally writing my acerbic, one-star review as the minutes dragged past my appointment time; twenty minutes and two patrons who arrived after me and got seen before me later, I was escorted to the hair-washing sinks by a seemingly frazzled receptionist pulling double-duty; meanwhile, my stylist Andrea took someone else after totally judging me for how long it had been since my last haircut.  I overheard that my big, long curly hair would be straightened first and cut dry later, and instantly my panic button was hit: the receptionist is washing my hair, my stylist seems totally out-of-sorts, and I was about to get a dry cut.  What sort of corners-cutting nonsense was this?

Well, hush up Tamar, because it went so uphill so quickly I almost got washing sink divot whiplash.  First of all, the frazzled receptionist is actually Christina, an adorable and utterly attentive hair-student-cum-massage therapist (the scalp massage I received while she washed my hair was literally worth double the price of admission), who took the time to talk me through every action and product with a sincere appreciation for the art of the serum.

When I was eventually handed off to Andrea (an hour after my appointment was supposed to start, but hey, thanks to that massage I genuinely wasn't counting anymore), I was treated to one of the most thorough and lovely blow-drys of my life, and, quite accurately, one of the most even snips.  Turns out dry cuts don't have to be that bad--dry, straight cuts have probably given me an extremely even and precise cut for my cascading curls.  By this point, we were all friends, kibbitzing about boyfriends and mousses and how nice I looked with a side-part.

The grand total came to $50, not $35 (due to the long hair and blow dry and such), but it felt justified--my hair looks great, I have new ladies with whom to gossip, and I'm rather confident that next time all first impression doubts will have been swept away like so many gently fallen hair scraps.

After I stopped coloring my hair, I was in search of a salon where I could get a good cut but without paying a ridiculous price. I did my online research and found that Salon Femia had the cheapest price in the area, $35 for a woman's haircut....sold!

I have been there two times now and had Michelle as my stylist both times. As everyone else said, she is quiet, attentive, and fabulous! The layers and angles she suggested gave my hair so much more life. She will also style it however you want, just be sure to ask. I got it curly the first time and straight the second, both of which looked great.

And the most amazing thing was that the cut really was just $35. I am used to going to salons that list one price, but then charge you so much more under the excuses that your hair is long or you got a blow dry. Nope, not this place. To my amazement, both cuts were $35 even when I got the blow dry.

This place is awesome.

I've been coming here for a couple years, and have had my hair cut by Andrea, Daniella, Ornella, and Michelle. I've been happy every time.

I can't speak for services other than hair cuts, and I've never asked for a specific cut or style, so I don't know how that goes.

That said, I came here after getting my hair cut at Great Clips for my entire life, and having it always look exactly the same- boring. I walked into Salon Femia one day, told them I was bored with my hair and asked them to fix it and do whatever they wanted. My first haircut (with Andrea) she talked me through everything she was doing and why it was good for my face/hair/etc. She recommended products and tools, and showed me how to style my hair.

I've been coming there ever since, and every time I just ask them to do whatever they think looks good. I have never been disappointed.

The wash, cut, and style is absolutely worth the $35 bucks- it's a bargain. I always leave feeling like a million bucks.

I have super short hair but had not had it cut in over 2 months. I had been wearing a hat day after day with the thought of letting it grow only to come back to the conclusion that I love my short hair but really needed a new stylist. I walked by Salon Femia this afternoon and went in to see if they take walk ins. They do. Michelle took me right away, she listened to my confusing description of the look I really wanted  and she did exactly what I had envisioned. I love it, everyone at work loved it. I will definitely go back. I found my new stylist. Thanks Michelle, you are great!
Oh and on the T ride home a woman from out of town complimented my style and then asked if she could take a picture for her stylist back home to recreate. How cool is that?!

Michelle is a nice and attentive stylist.  Can't say I love my hair or that I'll go back to see her again.  But if you have boring hair - I bet she would do a good job with it.

Me, I have a slightly edgy look.  All texture.  Japanese popstar meets Carol Brady meets Williamsburg.  Asians get it and hipsters get it.  Mainstream hairdressers, not so much.

Michelle cut the top layers uber short which I think was an odd choice.  My hair looked "ok" when I left the salon after she had thinning-sheared the hell out it.  Since then, every morning I've been battling  it out with a flat iron, cursing at my reflection in the medicine cabinet.

And no, it isn't growing in well.  So much for that theory.

Michelle gave it her all. I think my haircut was outside her repertoire.  Most of the stylists in Femia have long hair with long layers and foiled highlights.   The kind of locks that go well with stilettos.

Eh, it was 35 bucks.  I've had worse.  In a few weeks I'll get it fixed.

Like other yelpers who gave one star, I had Daniela cut my hair. On a whim I decided to try a new place and took whichever stylist they set me up with. Big mistake. My hair was in the process of going from a short, choppy style to a chin length bob that I was very excited to continue growing. Without even listening to what I wanted, Daniela sat me down and just started whacking at my hair, speaking to herself out loud "what are all of these layers? I am so confused," and so on. Before I knew it, my hair was cut practically to the hairline in the back and I ended up with uneven sides on the front.

My upset was obvious as she kept saying, while she was haphazardly chopping, that it would grow out so evenly and be adorable. That's great, but for now, as one of my friend's so honestly described it, I look like a piece from a lego set with football helmet, painted on hair.

I am going to my normal stylist to get it re-cut into a messy pixie this Saturday and saying goodbye to my dreams of pony-tail length hair, having only Daniela to thank for that.

I've been here on three different occasions, before finally giving up. I have had Daniela twice, and cannot remember the name of the third lady.

The ladies that I've had are NOT at all careful with your hair. I've had many sharp jabs of scissors against my scalp and ears, and combs yanked through my hair carelessly. This is absolutely unacceptable. Even the ladies at Supercuts or Anne Marie's next door are more careful and respectful of my hair.

Second, Daniela at one point told me that my hair "looked like shit," in reference to damages from a previous straightening job. Yeah, I'm sure that she meant no harm and it probably has more to do with her personality than any hostile feelings or the condition of my hair. But I do not think that this is appropriate language to describe any customer's hair, regardless of what the state of their hair is.

Third, they do NOT listen to you carefully about your desired haircut. I've brought in a picture and tried in vain to communicate the specific modifications I wanted for my hair that was not in the picture, but all that the lady said was, ok, ok, yes honey, I got it, without really listening. I understand that they are profesionals and know hair, but I felt like they were really not listening to what I wanted.

The end results were not what I wanted at all. It's always hair that looks great in the salon, but looks completely different once you wash that salon styling off. And it's not that I am unskilled at styling hair or got particularly high-maintenance styles (quite the opposite).

If you are at all particular about your haircut  and are the type of person who actively need to voice your ideas regarding the end result, then I would cautiously advise against Salon Femia. I always felt not so good when I left, and always wondered why I wasted 40 bucks to feel badly taken care of.

I would recommend Salon Cu or Nicholas Call Salon if you're more fastidious about styling, or if it's a major style change. For a simpler, cheap trim and much more kindly service, try Ann Marie's next door.

Linda, the esthetician, does amazing brows.  When I called to make an appointment and found out that she was on vacation and I was stuck with a semi-unibrow for a week, I didn't even touch a pair of tweezers to my brow(s) for fear of disrupting her plan for them.  I have been seeing Linda for my brows for a few months and can only agree with the positive things that others are saying about her.  She is very attentive, takes her time, and really works to make your brows "all they can be" so to say.   At this point I wouldn't trust my brows to anyone else, not even myself.

I have also had a facial, and while I love Linda, I think I have gotten better elsewhere.  I got the tourmaline facial and I didn't think it did much or was more effective than any regular old facial.  I might try another kind before I hold off on any final judgment.

The 4 stars is because the salon itself is modest and doesn't blow my mind (that being said, the prices are fair and appointments are easy to come by).
But I give 5 stars to the super-cute stylist Michelle D.-who apparently is an established musician by night.  Michelle is the gem of the salon. This woman actually asks you what you want, then listens until she understands it, AND THEN translates what you said into a great 'do! But she also assess your face and style and comes up with creative suggestions for you. She doesn't talk your ear off or try to sell you on anything you don't want.  I think she has a great balance of style, sweetness, and sociability.

I've been seeing Michelle consistently for almost a year now, and my hair style hasn't become "stale".  I've sent my husband to her as well. He came out with a hip cut that suited him well. Michelle does it all!

I just moved into the neighborhood and was looking for a new place to get my hair cut.  I saw the decent reviews Salon Femia had gotten on Yelp, so decided to give them a try.

I called on a Thursday, and was able to schedule an appointment for later that day, awesome!  I had my hair cut by Andrea, who I will say did an excellent job.  My hair can be a little tricky, and she delivered a quality service.

This is only the first time I have been there, but I obviously liked it well enough to go again for my next cut.  Hopefully my second experience is just as good!

This place is great if you have Michelle as a stylist, but I guess she is out of town for the next 3 months.  I recently has Daniella who used cold water during my shampoo even after I asked her to warm it up, attacked my ears and scalp with her comb, and gave me the worst dye job (it looks slightly grey with a green tinge... it should be golden).  She claims that she did exactly what Michelle usually does, but this is definitely NOT right.  I called to say I wasn't happy with my color  few hours after I left and they seemed not concerned and rescheduled me so "I" could get it redone 5 days later!!

I just had a great experience at Salon Femia. I went in for an appointment with Michelle looking to cut off a good three inches from my hair, as well as get blond highlights. I moved here from New York city and I was very 'wary' of a somerville salon. As soon as I walked in I knew I was going to like it though. The women were all very friendly and all seemed to know each other. When Michelle came over she was very welcoming and sat and listened to me while I explained what I was looking for. She was very good at being receptive to my particular styling. She was also very confident in what she was doing, which made me feel much more at ease.

Overall I was very happy with the results and I cannot wait to go back there again. I would highly recommend this place!!!

Linda waxes my brows at Salon Femia, and in the words of the girl who referred me to her, "She is a true artist." I have never had somebody take one look at me and size me up so quickly. She gave me the exact right brow shape for my style and personality. Working with her is practically like seeing a mystic.
And she is thorough. She regularly spends 30 minutes on my brows to get them just right. She says she loves doing eyebrows, and her love for her work is evident.
Many of my girlfriends trust only Linda with their eyebrows, and after going to her twice now I can see why. I have never had any other services at Salon Femia, so I cannot vouch for the quality of their other stylists, but Linda is amazing.

Okay. So I am an admitted "do it yourself" junkie. I paint my own walls, fix my own furniture, make my own dinners, and color my own hair.

And generally-since I'm stubbornly self-reliant-I'm unlikely to get a haircut as I'm convinced I could cut my hair myself with salon-grade scissors and a handheld mirror.

Last week, it got to be too much. My shag (result of 8 months of unfettered growth) had the texture and looks of a Brillo pad. I realized that my Northern European 'fro was no longer something I could fix. So going on slight impulse and Yelp reviews, I made an appointment at Salon Femia for my lunch break.

Not only did I make it back to the office in time to wolf down my sammich, but Michelle D. did a WONDERFUL job of shaping the hopeless shag into a highly-fashionable graduated bob that would make Victoria Beckham jealous. She listened to my wants and needs and made my lifeless locks feel valued, cared for, and desirable. My hair was so happy that it bounced, shone in the sunlight, and moved on its own, and for a mere $35. Sold.

Unfortunately, I have yet to replicate the silky texture that I had going on on Friday, and my hair is back to fluffing like a baby bird's butt. But the great thing is that Michelle's cut is so good that one can potentially miss the fact that my hair will always be a bit prone to frizz.

Also-it's an Aveda salon. I'm cheap and will only buy Aveda if I can score it off eBay, but it's a great little boost to the whole pampering salon experience.

I just got home from yet another fabulous haircut with Daniela at Salon Femia and decided to write a review so that everyone knows how wonderful this salon is! I have been coming here for 3 years now, ever since I asked a friend with great hair where she got her hair cut. I recently moved away from Davis Square, but came all the way back just for Daniela! Like other people have said, the price is unbeatable, the atmosphere is cozy and chic, and I love Daniela! She tells it like it is, but always listens to me ramble on about what I want my hair to look like, then does what I ask- plus more, since I'm not very creative on my own! I've never left here unhappy, and my hair looks great even when I go home and have to do it myself. If you're looking for top-notch stylists, a cozy salon, and a great price, you should definitely try out Salon Femia.

I totally agree with Lynda J. I was reading her review and I literally could have written the exact same thing.
My former stylist left me to open her own shop in the suburbs. Lame! So I was forced to find somewhere and someone new. This place is close to where I live and very convenient. Michelle did an amazing job. I have very thick hair, and this girl knows how to layer! I was a little nervous at first because she was so quiet. But it was really nice just to sit there and not have to make small talk.
Linda did my lip and brows. I have very sensitive skin. I'm usually red for hours. I had even switched to threading because waxing was just too harsh. Not with Linda. She was excellent.
Prices are very reasonable. They use good quality products. My only complaint, and its so minor, was the music. It was a little early in the morning for the pop to be blasting.

I just got home after getting my hair cut.. My stylist was Daniela. I had walked in looking for a wash, cut, and blowdry. The receptionist turns to Daniela and says can you take her, and she says yea but you look like you only need a dry cut.. Ok? Sure, I need a haircut, why not? She sits me down and says so it looks like you need a good 3 inches cut off. I said yea probably it's been a while. So she starts chopping away without any regard for anything else. Seven minutes later, yes, that's seven minutes... I have an uneven cut and blocky bangs. I don't like it... Not to mention she had just smoked a cigarette and I had the privilege of smelling her fingers the entire time. I will not be back.

OH. MY. GOD!!!!!!!

Michelle gave me the best haircut I have had in years. I have a bit of a haircut phobia and i never get my hair cut for that reason. After watching too many episodes of "What Not to Wear" where the stylist says that the person's hair is outdates/damaged/etc, I decided to take the advice of Yelpers and go to Salon Femia.

Michelle was very quiet (which I LOVED. I get very nervous in salons and often have nothing to say) and attentive to my hair. She really spent a lot of time on my hair and gave me a cut that I didn't expect and was amazed with. She was so kind and sweet. I can't wait to show all my friends my new hair.

Next, Linda did my brows. Nothing I can say can express how 1) warm and wonderful 2) professional she is. This woman took to my brows like an artist. I have very sensitive skin (something I didnt tell her) and usually leave a brow appt rashy and red. I have a tinge of redness and nothing more. I bow down. I'm not worthy! :)

I would recommend this salon to just about anyone. I love this salon and will happily go back!

I went here for a couple haircuts and was starting to think that it really was possible to get a good haircut for under $50. But there were always some things that bothered me. My stylist always insisted on brutally battling my cowlick into submission, and she really didn't know how to work with my hair texture. Also, she was a hair brush maniac - I felt like I was getting scalped. But whatever, she was pretty good with the basics of hair cutting. At least, that's what I thought, until gave me a bang "trim" by relentless chopping my hair until it was about an inch and a half long and super thin and whispy and fried-looking. I was horrified. So then I started going to James Joseph Studio on Newbury Street.

My girlfriend thinks my eyebrows look saucy, and I have Linda at Femia to thank for it.

My last eyebrow job (care of Judy Jetson) left my whole eye area red for about 8 hours and I had small bruises under my brow bone for a few days after that.  So I had been hoping for an early AM appointment as I have a graduation party this evening.

The earliest they could book me in with Linda was at noon.  So I took the appt., but with trepidation.

I approached Femia-- it doesn't look like much from the outside.  I went in and it was small, but cute.  Then I realized that I was in the straightest hair salon I'd been in since I was in high school and my mom was choosing the place.  Not a "Faaaabulous," or a "girl-FRIEND" was to be heard.  There was just a bunch of over-tanned hair-stylist women.  It was saddening, since I'm used to the gay man hair crowd.

Linda took me into the aesthetician room-- it was bright (but not scary) and clean.   She was SUPER thorough.  She would step back to look, and half the time, I'd expect her to close one eye and hold her thumb out like a painter.   She also told me I have great brow bones and unusual eyes-- and that I could believe her because she does this all day long.  I don't care if she was lying or not, it made me feel good.

At 2pm, I looked in the mirror, and all the redness was gone.  We'll see tomorrow if I'm bruising, but I think I'm in the clear.

My one negative star for this place was that the salon side was empty and the stylists were goofing around and talking really loudly which was distracting....and the music sucked.  There's a time and a place for Bon Jovi, but I wasn't feeling it this morning.

I am way too picky about my hair.  After commuting back to college for a year to get my hair styled, I decided it was time to cut the cord and find someone local...

I read a lot of reviews about Ornella, and she seemed like the right person for me.  I went in there freaking out "about my length" not too short not too short....  So I went to see Ornella, she highlighted me and cut me - and kept saying, trust me trust me...

I trust her!  With my life!  She's awesome, I attached a picture of me the day after, I should have one up from the day before.. But I don't really have a "casual one" anyhow - if you need something new different better, go to see Ornella...

I don't know about the hair part of Salon Femia, but I went to Linda for an eyebrow waxing/grooming, and I must praise her great work. As others have noted in their Yelp reviews, she is truly lovely -- kind, friendly, and not pushy at all. And, best of all, she's great at what she does!

For the past several years I have had one trusted eyebrow person, but she is located in NY and I am no longer there that often. So it was time to find a local expert. (And I did every now and then go to Le Pli for eyebrows, but I found the service to be rather cursory and I wasn't very impressed.)

Well, I can thank my lucky stars, because Linda is all I was looking for and more. I used to only stick to getting tweezed, which was annoying and required more upkeep, but I have extremely sensitive skin and had gotten burned (literally) a few years ago, to the point of being scared off.

But Linda talked it over with me and brought me back from the brink. She convinced me to take the waxing plunge again, and I am really glad I did. She promised to be very gentle, and she sure was. It didn't hurt a bit, I only had a little redness, and, most importantly, she did a beautiful job! Honestly, I don't think my brows have ever looked better.

Linda is meticulous, careful, and considerate. She really listened to what I wanted with my eyebrows (not too thin, and I wanted the shape maintained) and she took her time to achieve exactly what I was hoping for.

I am so relieved to have found a great local eyebrow expert, and also so happy with the results because, once again, I must reiterate, she did a tremendous job. She is a truly talented aethestician (sp?) and I highly recommend her services!

I moved to the Boston area about a year ago and one of my biggest upsets was leaving my hair stylist of 7-8 years back in Jersey.  Up until now, I have avoided finding someone new and always scheduled any hair appointments conveniently when I knew I would be in Jersey visiting.

I finally decided to bite the bullet and face my fears and try out someone new.  I had previously come here to get my eyebrows waxed, so decided I might as well try getting my hair cut here as well.  After reading through all the reviews once again, I decided to go with Michelle D.  for my haircut.  I'm so glad that I did.

Much like what other people have mentioned, Michelle is pretty quiet and reserved.   She has this feeling of such a down to earth girl who you could probably have an awesome conversation with, but she'd rather pay complete attention to your hair and focus on getting the cut just right for you than chatting away.  Since I was so nervous about having someone new cut my hair, I was a little apprehensive at first when she started cutting, however halfway through I just had this feeling that I was going to love the end results and I did.  She did such an amazing job and I can't stop looking in the mirror and touching my hair.

Oh joy! I've finally found a hair salon that's the perfect mix of laid back luxury and value. My friend recommended Salon Femia after getting a really beautiful, modern, yet simple cut there.

Historically, i've been unsatisfied with the styles and service rendered by other salons in the area. Many times i've felt like I didn't quite get what I asked for and my tastes didn't quite mesh with the person cutting my hair.

Owned by two sisters, Salon Femia is a clean and comfy salon with a friendly and professional staff.  Daniella cut my hair and I was extremely pleased with the results. Daniella was professional and talented and had those great, firm stylist hands. She both listened to my requests and asked the right questions to ensure my style fit my lifestyle. I'm not big on maintenance and Daniella gave me a cut that looks great without tons of product and a contortionist blow drying session. She also suggested the best products and styling techniques for my cut.

At $35 for a womens cut and dry, I think this place is a great value. I've paid $50 and up for styles and not been as pleased as I am with Salon Femia.  YAY!

Great little spot in Davis, I am definitely planning on making this my regular salon.  I had Ornella (at the recommendation of a friend) and she was spot on.  The place is tiny and I was pleased that I was promptly seated at the time I made my appointment.  I was taking off about 10 inches and Ornella knew exactly what to do.  She exuded confidence and I needed that seeing that I was having a drastic cut.  I've had my hair this short before but I feel that she cut the ends just right so I would have an easy time duplicating the look in the mornings. I am so happy to have hair that I can manage again!  I also liked that she made suggestions on things I can do but didn't pressure me to purchase any products or do anything I wasn't interested in.

I am usually pretty low maintenance, but when it comes to getting a hair cut and color, I am very , very picky.  You would think that with so many salons in Somerville and Cambridge, it would not be so difficult to find a stylist that is dependable, friendly and great at what she does; however it it took me 3 years to finally find one!  I have tried EVERY reputable salon in the area.  Some stylists were great at cuts, and some were great at coloring -- but I never found someone who was great at both.

Ornella at Salon Femia is amazing.  First of all, she gives me an amazing hair cut, whether I want just a trim or some new layers and bangs.  She is very attentive to detail in both styling my hair and listening to my requests.  She has amazing ideas for highlights and yet, at the same time, can be more conservative if I so choose.
I always walk into the salon and within 5 minutes am laughing at the candid, interesting, funny conversations in this very family oriented and quaint atmosphere.  The owners are so funny and real - yet very serious about their job.

I always leave the salon feeling fabulous -- like a new woman! And doesn't every girl want to feel that way now and again?!

One more note - my french boyfriend who is more fashion conscious and detail oriented than me always notices when I come home from Salon Femia.  He loves what they do to my hair.  And after 3 years of going to different salons, and 3 years of dating him, this is a first.  I am hooked!

Disclaimer: This review is based solely on the amazingness that is Linda at Salon Femia. I have been going to Linda for regular eyebrow waxes and facials since 2006 when I moved to Somerville. After extensive searching for solutions to my VERY sensitive acne-prone skin, her facials and skincare product advice completely cleared up my any problems that I had (and I am not kidding). Not only that, she has perfected my eyebrows. By this I mean, she sculpts them like an artist, remembering any pesky imperfections from my last appointment and striving to correct them. I can't say enough about her. She is one of the most caring and professional people I have ever met in a salon. I LOVE LINDA!!!!

The first time I ever went to Femia was when they used to be in that spot that Breathe Spa now occupies. It was a cute place - small but clean, friendly desk staff. I'm glad they've managed to expand to a bigger location since then, though slightly out of the way (and their old spot had better exposure).

In any case. I haven't had that many things done at Femia, and admittedly it's been a little while since I've been there again, so forgive me it seems a little stale but to my last knowledge, my take on them is pretty much the same. Great for waxing, otherwise personally, I'd rather go somewhere else. The staff are generally pretty nice, the wax is soft and not of the uber-painful variety, and they get the job done well. Now that I've experienced the magic wax over at Le Pli in Harvard I don't think anything could live up to it, but still, here it's not bad and they made loyal clients out of my friends (and me when I needed it) when we lived in area, also partly due to convenience.

Once, my regular hairdresser on Newbury was so booked up I wouldn't be able to see him for weeks, and I was in such a desperate rush to get it done, I figured I'd try Femia. I feel bad since I think they tried their best, but I ended up not feeling very attended-to. I know it was a busy afternoon, but that shouldn't take away from my (or their) focus. The cut itself, although I thought it was a pretty simple 'do, wasn't to my liking - too choppy and blunt, not enough movement, rather heavy and altogether a little dated or not stylish enough for my look. I don't mean to sound snobbish, but I guess we just didn't have the same style/fashion asthetic, hair-wise or whatever. The blowdry was so strong that I felt as though it burnt my scalp a bit - it looked alright, but I wasn't too comfortable. It was reasonably priced though, and they did slot me in quickly.

Overall, if I still lived nearby I might still visit for waxing etc., but still wouldn't go back for hair cuts/treatments/'dos anymore just because it wasn't to my liking and I've, personally, had better experiences elsewhere, not just at a higher price level but even at the same (or less!) If you like it, good for you, but personally I'd rather stick to the other hairdressers I've found in town, and now still would rather visit my favourite Harvard spot for waxing too. Not a bad place, but just not for me anymore.

What a gem this place is!  Tucked back on a side street in Davis and looking like nothing more than a medium sized house from the outside - the place opens up to a fancy salon with a friendly, hospitable staff.  Linda is the woman for waxing - and she's fantastic.  However, although the place technically offers massages, they hardly ever actually do them, and this is the one service I would definitely recommend going elsewhere for.

All the staff does a great job with hair.  The prices are average to slightly below average compared with anywhere else in the major Boston area - and well worth your money.

My wife came home beaming because of her haircut/style of all things. She didn't come down off her high for 3 days. (Oh and there wasn't one mirror in the house that wasn't visited at least 3 times a day)

That is the best compliment I can give to this salon.  Thank You.

I think her dresser was a girl named danny or something like that.

LOOOOOVe the facials that Linda gives.  I have been getting facials for my problematic skin for years and usually skip around from salon to salon.  However, Salon Femia is local and Linda has proven to be really educated in skin care.  I'm sticking with her!

I have been going to Salon Femia for well over a year now, and have been nothing but thrilled with my experience.

Daniela cuts my hair and does a fantastic job.  She is the first hairdresser I've been to that has given me solid advice on what works best for my hair.  She gets it.  She doesn't push the latest product down your throat or cut your hair the way she wants to.

Linda does my eyebrows and also does a fantastic job.  She knows what works for your face, and I swear is the first pain-free waxer I've ever seen!

I highly recommend both Daniela and Linda... you will not be disappointed!

i just got back from salon femia. this was my first visit and surely there will be more. i walked in with long boring hair and walked out with an awesome shoulder length shag. andrea, who is the owner, knew exactly how to handle my flat, straight hair. i knew i wanted something more dramatic, but i wasn't sure exactly what i wanted it to look like, and she made the process really fun. we started off by cutting some bangs and taking some off the length. soon enough i had the courage to go much shorter with tons of layers, because i could see that andrea knew what she was doing. i didn't get her name, but the woman who blow dried my hair was also amazing. im so going back to salon femia!

I've been going here for about a year, and although I could do without the smell of cigarettes lingering from the stylists' last break, I love the cuts I've had and am completely smitten with their service and talent. The Aveda products always leave my hair feeling fresh and revived, and the cuts I've had get me a lot of complements. Because the place is run by sisters and close friends of theirs, you can feel slightly left out of the conversation, but I'm perfectly content to sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride.

Linda gives the best eyebrow wax in town. i won't see anyone else anywhere else in this city and when I have - as the 8ball says, "the outcome did not look good."

I love this place. I found it when I saw a co-worker with a fantastic haircut and asked her where she got it. Salon Femia! You can't beat the price or the personality, and I've never been disappointed with a cut. I have a lot of thick hair that most people can't cut correctly, and both of the women who own the salon do a great job with it. The owners are sisters, very different personality-wise, but both very good at what they do. If you aren't sure what you're looking for, go to Ornella and she'll give you some enthusiastic suggestions. If you know what you want and need someone to follow your specifications, go to Andrea. Happy hair cut!

I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in on a whim.  I have very short hair and it is hard to find stylists who can do a great short cut.  The prices are reasonable, appointments are easy, and they carry KMS products which I've had trouble finding. Plus the salon is nice and they use Aveda products.

I'm a regular now and I highly recommend them, particulary to those ladies with funky short dos or those who might want one, Daniela is great!
