The bf and I came here around 5:45 yesterday because he needed a hair cut. Originally, we were going to go somewhere closer to home, but my bf being himself and all, rather drive out to Milpitas to somewhere that takes credit card, instead of just going to the bank, getting cash, and going to somewhere in Fremont.
Anyhow, we just drove around this shopping center and saw that Salon De Paris was still open, and took credit card. When we got in there, the lady said that she was closed already. I thought it was odd since the door said they closed at 6:30, and it was 5:45. But as we were going to turn around and walk out, she said, actually, its okay, ill take you guys. (I looked at their business cards and on there it said they close at 6 on Sundays. They need to update their door signage then).
Jacklin cut my boyfriends hair. She took a lot of time to wash his hair and cut his hair - it took a total of almost half an hour. I was kinda surprised it took so long for a guy's haircut, but I guess that's what he gets for coming to a salon.
After all, my bf ended up with a nice hair cut - thank goodness - his hair was getting way too long. Total was $30 bucks.
Not bad at all, and thanks for taking us even though you were almost closing.
I had an appointmet at 9:30 but I had to wait in my car for 15 minutes before the doors even opened. Then I had I sit and wait an additinal 15 min to get my hair washed before they started the hair straightening process.
The girl who washed my hair was pretty nonchalent. Didn't chit chat at all just vigorously washed my hair.
The hair straightener lady, Jacquelyn was pretty nice. I think what bothered me is they suggested this new hair straightening technique called Keratin Complex, told me it was perfectly safe, better than Japanese hair straightening, and used proteins. But after I did it and researched more about it, it seems it's not safe at all and uses a form of formaldehyde which is cancerous and really bad for you when they blow dry your hair and you inhale it. It also stung my eyes.
So beware when being offered this method. It also doesn't last very long. I've had it for less than 2 months and I already have to use a flat iron on my hair every morning.
So I was bored with my tired old do and I called at 10:40 today and at 11 I was sitting at Stacy's station and telling her I wanted something punky short and funky. Guess what? I got it too! She fully understood what I was going for and kept me posted along the way and I am really happy with it. The salon is very clean and well appointed. The ladies are all talented and fun. I would highly recommend and am going back shortly for color! I swear I am going to pull my big old 45 year old butt out of hair duldrums yet!
Call it confidence but sometimes I'm certain I possess skills that aren't really there. Like being a hairstylist. I insist on cutting my own bangs. And they'll usually look good the first day or so but then after a shower or a good brush I'll notice how uneven and horrible they look.
Well it happened again. Therefore it was time for me to head to Salon De Paris for some damage control. I didn't call I just came in. Stacy being kind as she is snuck me in between her client's shampoo.
Snip, snip and she was done. So fast and she made it look so easy. I loved it and felt me again. She shooed me out the door and insisted that it was on the house.
SEE? Just another reason why my stylist is better than yours!

Stacy's a keeper!
I've been here 3x now for my color. Since it's winter I chose to go darker. I… Read more »
Summary: Based on Yelp reviews, I made an appt with Lydia. I wanted a specialist for Asian haircuts & color and I got it. I'm super happy about the cut, tint, color, styling, and overall service. It was a tad expensive (for me) but it is one of the best hair cuts and color jobs I've ever had ($180).
Details: Salon de Paris was flexible with my schedule. I had to cancel and then reinstate my appt.
When I first talked to Lydia, I hemmed and hawed what I wanted but she gracefully guided our discussion. I wanted something conservative enough for work but I wanted a touch of "I don't want to look 30" color under. She came up with a plan and sent me off to another girl. The other girl washed my hair but Lydia returned for the red coloring. Later, I was sent back to the girl to do the tinting (to cover my grays-- shh!).
After the tint, color, and the first round of cutting, Lydia went back and really took her time cutting my hair making sure my bob shaped up PERFECTLY. After a hair dryer, fragrant coconut spray, and a hot iron, my head of hair looked way better than before!
I feel amazing, vain, and a little weirded out that I went from ugly duckling to svelte swan in 3.5 hours. Thanks Lydia!
I come Salon De Paris every 3 months to my favorite hairstylist Stacy because this is the only place/person that I trust to do my hair.
I love how the colors came out when she highlighted my hair and including the layers that she gave me when I told her I wanted to trim my hair with a bit of style to it.
When my hair was past my back the highlights cost about 180 but when I came back to do a touch-up and layers it was 140. My friends said its pricey but I never done it elsewhere to compare prices.
Whenever I get a haircut, I always try to get Lydia. She's always manages to make me feel pretty whenever I'm there and sadly she remembers me as the girl who has thick crazy hair (seriously, she's the only one that can tame it).
She knows how short I want my hair, especially with my A-line and always suggest other hairstyles (which I'm willing to try whenever I get the chance). Always welcoming and friendly.
By the way, whenever I'm there I always feel like I'm at a club, their music is pretty loud and sometimes you see them dancing. o_o
Nevermind, I take back that back. I haven't been there in over a year, and there's a pretty good reason for that.
I went in for a trim and brown highlights a few days before prom and somehow that got translated to chopping off 4 inches of my hair and putting wide streaks of gold, not blonde, but gold throughout my hair, and I have dark brown skin! Never again.

After 14 years worth of $8 asian cuts followed by a fair share of unsatisfying high-priced salons,… Read more »
It began in 2002, when my sister was in the Valley Fair shopping mall and she stopped a girl walking by because she couldn't help but notice her gorgeous hair. She asked the girl,"where do you get your hair done and by whom"? The girl replied,"Sandy at Salon de Paris".
Since then my sister & I have not stopped seeing Sandy. My sister became close to addicted to dying her hair because of the awesome job she does every time. She is so good at styling your hair in such a way that fits the shape of your face.
This past spring, I admit that I was borderline addicted to her expertise. Everywhere I would go everyone would gush at how good my hair looks. And I place the entire blame to Sandy. If I wasn't too happy with how a color would turn out, Sandy would do her best to get the desired result.
This is a family salon run by three sisters, all with great customer service! If you wanted to get pampered and get your hair did it should be done with style and class at Salon de Paris!!
Lydia cuts my hair. Actually it's a secret but I've been cutting my own hair at home, shh!
But when I need the structure of a hair cut and someone really precise and can cut around the back, I now see Lydia. I found this place on Yelp and the proximity to home and frozen yogurt after wards.. and appreciate that they cut asian hair and speak both Vietnamese and Cantonese. I've been to many stylists but not many can cut asian hair really well.
$45, which is pricey for an asian place, but imo it's worth it bc Lydia will discuss the style with you and I trust her eye for shapes and colors. She has a very fashion forward asian hair herself!
I agree the shampoo person is vigorous with her nails, but I kind of liked that.
good for Milpitas and Asians!
I have been getting my hair cut and trimmed here since forever! I absolutely love it, and wouldn't get my hair chopped anywhere else. They always know exactly what I want. Lydia and Stacy are beyond good. Everyone is so edgy.
It's not your typical $8 hair cut. They take time to carefully wash, dry, cut, and style your hair down to the knitty gritty. I have never left the salon unhappy. I got my senior prom up-do, and junior prom curls done here, along with homecoming, previous dances, weddings, cotillions, etc. etc. etc. It's not a 'bit' expensive at all. It's straight cash flow, gone. Hahaha, it's totally worth it. I once got my hair dyed here and came close to spending about $200. Even my mom loves it here! Service is excellent.
Rename this place Salon de Maerd, 'cause that is what it is.
I wish I knew the name of the lady who cut my hair because she was the worst ever. She asked want I wanted. I told her. She then does something else. I stop her and tell her again what I want. She then does something else. 3rd time I stop her, after I'm visibly annoyed and frusterated, she does what I asked for. I could've gotten a better haircut from my blindfolded 2 y/o cousin.
I cry every time I look in the mirror.
i've gotten my hair cut/colored here by Lydia, Stacey, and the skinny guy (don't go to him! he turned my hair orange!). Lydia is the best of the 3, but she and Stacey are so snooty when it comes to walking in. They always tell me they're busy. What a way to talk to customers!
I guess I end up liking the cut eventually, but for the high price and OK service, i'd rather pay a "high-end" salon.
I go to Sandy strictly for color. For some reason when she colors my hair the color stays better than when I do it @ 5 Color and the pricing is more reasonable.
She does a decent job, is nice, can fit me in when I feel the NEED to do something w/ my hair.
The salon itself is clean and trendy enough. Convenient ly located in an asian strip mall, good if you are hungry or thirsty. I've seen some trendy hair color/highlights and cuts come outta here..if you are into that "HK-ese" look.
I went to this place once a long time ago before I discovered My at H-K Hair and Beauty..... I was referred by Mabel L. cuz I was looking for a new stylist since I was tired of the uber-razoring at Shing's Hair Studio.
I come in looking for Lydia but got Sandy instead because Lydia was on vacation....
THE SHAMPOO GIRL WAS HORRIBLE!!!! (ngoc l.'s review reminded me of how terrible she was and thus prompted my own review)
it was THE most painful and unrelaxing shampoo ever!!! her claws were raking through my scalp like nobody's business!!! and I'm not gentle with my hair when I shampoo, i'm a vigorous scratcher/scrubber cuz it's so thick, BUT SHE WAS THE DEVIL INCARNATE
so i was sitting in the salon chair already displeased with a burning scalp and Sandy started cutting my hair - she wasn't mean but she wasn't nice either ---- she was kind of cold and standoffish, like she had better things to do with her time than cut my hair --- i'm not usually the type to have a gabfest with my stylists but it's nice when they're personable u know??
she didn't spend too long with my hair since it was pretty basic, side swept bangs and trimming my long layers..... it wasn't bad but it wasn't great.... it was blehh ---- and I've had great bangs and cut before (once at Shing's Hair Studio by Lynn...?....the olderish woman whose chair is first one on the right...... but she was never able to repeat that one AMAZING cut and kept giving me increasingly worse haircuts...like super thin and flat in the back even reaching to the point where it started looking like a mullet......and that's why I left)
it was i think 35 bucks for such a blah cut.....AND 10 minute torture session!!!
so I haven't been back since then. I go to My at H-K Hair and Beauty right across the street!
I was recommended to this place by my best friend and she had failed to inform me about Sandy or Lydia so i ended up with Jacklin.
She is a good stylist but i gave her 4 different pictures of what i wanted my hair to look like and i had more than enough hair and side burns to be almost exact.
She ended up cutting it up about 1 inch and then layered my hair which i didn't mind but when she cut half of one of my side burns off she admitted her mistake and told me that in 6 weeks it will grow back and it will look nice. It still doesn't look nice...
My hair is suppose to cover my ears and my forehead but she thinned my forehead to much saying its the style but thats not what it looks like in the picture.
My appointment is on the 20th and I'm afraid if i got back she will ruin my hair again. But i trust that she will fix my hair i gave her $50 tip my first time there so i think she will treat my hair better when i come back. If not I'm going to make an appointment with Sandy or Lydia..
I went here for the first time and got my hair cut by Stacy. She was actually recommended to me by my mom since they personally knew each other. I came in just expecting a shorter cut, but left with gorgeous highlights also! At first, I was worried my highlights would end up looking ugly asian blonde, but Stacy placed them perfectly on my hair that made it look subtle and not make me look like a psycho. The cut was a little shorter than I expected, but I totally love it with the color and I've been getting compliments on it already. The price is pretty expensive, but the quality is worth it!
She even gave my mom a flattering and hip haircut!
I have found my IT salon! I have been looking for a salon that is hip with intelligent and edgy stylists. I have had my haircut done by Lydia & Stacey. Both ladies I would recommend, but my favorite would be Stacey. She has given me a cut that compliments me. I LOVE it & constantly get compliments about it. She is excellent with color too! She knows her stuff and I would trust her with my hair, especially since I'm very picky with who touches my hair & styles it. This is the place to go!
I've been jumping around from hair places to hair places, and from throughout high school up until now... I always come back here. They always get my hair cut the way that I wanted it to be and always do a good job.
Although, the last time I went to get a hair cut from Lydia.... I had her gave me a cut and dyed my hair. Since my hair was virgin hair, I had wanted a reddish shade. Unfortunately, it turned out to be brown in which I had voiced that I was unhappy with it. She told me to wait because it would get lighter, and yet, the hair has maintain its color since then. So the hair cut was great, the dye job was bad. But I should've known better, since their more infamous for their streaking or bleaching technique.
Otherwise, besides that one episode... they've kept me happy for the past years, so I would come back and I would recommend Lydia and Sandy.
The stylists here keep me coming back. i have been going to Sandy ever since I can remember, and Lydia styled my hair for prom in high school. Wow, that sounds like it was so close, yet so far away ago. Love Sandy when it comes to layering hair. She's good! I've tried others, and I always end up back here.
I decided to go for short hair and saw all these good reviews about Lydia. It happens that I was recently in town one weekend and tried to call on a Fri to make an appt with Lydia on Sat, but she told me her schedule was all booked on Sat. I asked her to squeeze me in, b/c I traveled from SF to come back to her. She was so sweet that she decided to squeeze me in somehow. She's amazing working on 3 people at once, yeah she gets as busy as a bee. Make sure to call ahead for appointments, because she gets booked fast and it is def worth it in the end!
Salon de Paris is definitely one of the most expensive salons I go to. But i keep coming back because of :
1) they do a great job on highlights.___
2) when they messed up my hair once, they did an awesome job of fixing it (of course, i was crying and ready to tell all their customers).__
3) i have a hard time trusting new people with my hair.__ I def recommend it for coloring! But watch out for haircuts---they tend to cut more than you want. Otherwise, they do a fine job.
I got my haircut here with Stacy and I would like to warn everyone to stay away! I had to wait 40 minutes before she finally was ready to cut my hair. She went crazy with the thinning shears and basically made me look like I'm prematurely losing my hair. I should have left before she touched my hair. She also gave me this weird bang cut that doesn't look good with the frame of my face. I can't believe I paid $55 dollars for someone to do this to me. Totally not worth it. Stay away from this place. They will rip you off. I would rather go to a high end salon than to come back here.
I have came here about 5 times already. first time, the wait was an hour when I have an appointment. I only came w/ my friend since she is happy w/ the cut here. Otherwise I would not come. Plus it is a litle bit pricey for Asian place. Price always seen to go up. My cut is very simple. no style, no wash, just a cut. And they charge the price for the style, a wash (which I specifically told them no wash). oh well, I only come now if I'm desperate if I need major styling or fixing. one or two stylist there are good.
I get my haircut here all the time, and I am very happy each time! The staff really know their stuff, I always ask them for recommendations and for their opinions are certain styles. They do layers and bangs reallyy well! And short hair styles, too! Also they are super nice and friendly, especially Lydia, Jacklin, and Sandy. I brought my sister and cousin here to get their hair cuts too, and they were very pleased with the results! I really like the location too because Tapioca Express is a few stores down, I can grab a snack while waiting for my sis's or cousin's hair cut to be done =)
I've been going to Sandy forever....its probably been like 7 years now but the first few years were on and off only because I was a starving student and tried to find a good but cheap place. What ended up happening was some other hairdresser would screw up my hair and I feel bad to tell them so then I would go to Sandy to fix it anyway. After a few times of this, I just decided to go to her directly so I've been going to her and ONLY her ever since. She knows me so well that I don't even have to come in with any ideas, she just starts throwing them at me.
When somebody shows a hairdresser a pic of what they want but then don't want layers or cut too short or whatever, it's no wonder why the cut never comes out right. People have to find a hairdresser they trust. I bleached some parts of my hair one time and I hated how fried my hair was. Now Sandy will never suggest any look that will involved bleaching but we do go pretty light on the dye still. Better dyed than fried I think. :-p
Sandy loves me too because I hand my hair over to her. That's not to say I don't questions things. Like the other day I asked why was this side higher than the other and the response was so simple. I part my bangs on one side. Once she told me, I got it.
Sometimes I go for pretty dramatic changes. It's hard because you see yourself everyday in the mirror and you look one way, then all of sudden, something completely different! So I have enforced a 2 day rule. I say this because I have left the salon thinking, omg, I HATE IT! But sure enough, few days later, I absolutely love it!
Out of the past 7 years, I only had to come back twice - once was because the dye didn't take so well and another time, it was the cut...the cut was easy. She fixed it right away and I left satisfied.
Thanks Sandy! I will never cheat on you! hehe.
Lydia is really good too. I would highly recommend either gals. They do awesome highlights. They're so fun to talk to too! 5 stars all the way!
Located in an asian plaza right by Tung Kee noodle house, I have been going to Salon de Paris now for 6 years. I only get my hair done by Lydia. She does it the way i want and I never really had any problem. My hair is pretty simply cut but every now and then I always get a girl asking who my hair stylist is. When i had my hair colored by a friend who works at Dustin David Salon in Los Gatos she even commented how she loved my hair cut and showed her coworkers.
Its a clean place, its trendy look and they play trendy music. Alot of times trance. Lydia is a nice girl, It's funny becuase i've even run into her at parties before. Most of them there are young and are intune to popular haircuts of now so i reccomend this place.
My only issue is pricing. It keeps going up and up :(. I started there at $35, when they opened their new location in fremont, it went up to $40, then my last visit it's now up to $45. I love Lydia and think its great i found someone who can do my hair, but if it bumps up to $50, i'm going to have to let go.
If youre interested in an appt with lydia, make sure you call and ask for an appt. She gets booked fairly fast.
I was referred to Lydia through a family friend and since I was on the market for a new hairstylist I decided to give her salon a go. My first impression when I stepped through their doors was that this was a very trendy salon. They have fancy leather couches, a modern interior, and trance bumping in the background. Most of the stylists have really trendy and modern haircuts and are dressed to match. Don't be intimidated by the trendy interior though! The stylists are pretty friendly and attentive and I was greeted right away by Lydia and then whisked away to have my hair washed. When I was plopped back in the chair, I told Lydia what I wanted and she was really attentive about my concerns and needs. I noticed that she spent a lot of time with me and also was very thorough with my haircut. She cut it while it was wet, then dried and styled it, and made sure to go through it again. Then she showed it to me back and front, gave me styling advice, and sent me on my merry way. After my first experience, I decided to go back again and go for something drastic; I decided to get my bangs cut straight across like a china doll. I nervously told Lydia my plans, and she reassured me that it would work out great, and it did! Even better, I was able to go back every 2-3 weeks for a free trimming of my bangs. I think that compared to high end salons, Salon De Paris is fairly priced, and the stylists are thorough and up-to-date with the trends. I'm definitely recommending this place to my friends, and coming back next time I need a haircut!
Note: I've only tried Lydia at the salon, so I cannot speak for the other stylists although I'm sure they're great.
Also, my hair type is straight Asian hair and is pretty easy to work with.
Lydia is the best! i came to her about a year ago after trying to look for a good hair salon. she put well defined layers and volume into my straight and flat hair. i loved the outcome and knew that there was something about her...well since then, i've let my hair grow out and have gotten very tired and bored of the long layered look. i was now looking forward to a change. i wanted something dramatically shorter but was super scared at the same time because my hair has always been long. i decided that i would get the "pob".
i made an appointment for a wednesday afternoon. man i thought no one would be there, but it was still busy. i think it was probably because of spring break, but anyway, she asked me what i wanted to do with my hair. i told her something dramatic and showed her some pictures of what i was looking for. i was really scared because i wasn't sure how this would turn out but she assured me that i'd love the end result. her skills are amazing, i loved my hair when she was done! couldn't have been happier and never have i gotten so many compliments! ;] shampoo and cut for 45+tip, a bit expensive if you're used to the asian places but hey, you get what you pay for.
I'm a pretty high maintenance in the hair department. Lydia is the bomb. She always takes care of me and her stories are too funny. I've moved since I found her and now I have to travel 40 mins to see her. I hard to switch to someone else once you've found the "one"!
I used to go to the Fremont branch since it was closer. I haven't gone since they've closed that one. I usually get my hair done by Jackie. She's really nice -- they all are. But the problem is that the haircut is always really expensive and I never really like it when I leave. There are certain things in life that although expensive, are still worth it because you love the results. That is how I feel about the highlighting. The highlighting is great but the haircut is not. It's always shorter and a lot different from what I imagined it to be. I haven't gotten a haircut in almost a year now -- I don't know where to go...
The decor on this place is nice and looks upscale. The people working there are pretty friendly, but the prices are a bit expensive. I give this place three stars because they highlighted my hair lighter than I wanted. They weren't able to fix my hair on the same day since they were overbooked. I came back two days later and they charged me another 35$ to redo my hair (and that was after bargaining the price down) even though it was their mistake.
My hair cut looked great even though the color was wrong. I actually went back to get my highlights touched up and that wasn't really worth it since it was pricey and it looked like I could've done a better job at home.
It's really a hit or miss with this place.. but then again, I never request someone, I just use whoever is available--I know, there's my mistake, but I'm usually in a rush to get my haircut. I've been coming here on and off for 5 years or so. From my experience, all the ladies are really nice and friendly, however, I often get Jackie to cut my hair and I'm never really satisfied with it. She always parts my hair a certain way even though I request differently. She once highlighted my hair a couple years ago and turned it blonde... I'd rather stick with Lydia, Sandy, or the other lady with the chin-length hair.. can't remember her name. Anyhow, it's the cheapest haircut around for this quality ($45), so I'll keep coming back.
