I'be been using Salon Ami for almost a year now (after 3 poor cuts in a row from a a very well known gentlemen's shop).
I have thick, wavy, gray, and slightly wiry hair which can be challenge to cut. Oh, and now have a full beard that is far from silky.
Every appointment has been spot on time, met at the door with a steaming cup of coffee, a friendly smile - but most important, both haircut and beard trims have bordered on artistry!
Prices are well in line with the market and friendly reminders about appointments have become valuable.
It's been a while since I looked forward to haircuts, but I do now. Oh, reports from others who have to look at me, so are others.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Mar 26, 2017
Save your money and time by avoiding this place! I've been going to this place to get my hair highlighted for the last year and it's been ok up until this last visit. They nickel and dime their customers for every last penny. I've been to other Aveda locations in other states and this location is not up to the customer service standard the rest of them are. If you want a salon that stands behind their work, THIS IS NOT the place for you.
I recently paid for a full highlight and when the hair stylist was rushed through the process she completely neglected to do the underside of my hair. When I called and spoke with a manager she told me that her stylist told her it had been completed and didn't offer any other solutions. I called back and asked to have her stylist fix it. I showed up to have it corrected and was just meet with more disappointment. They charged me an additional $30, on top of the $130 I already paid. They didn't even dry my hair or offer to let me check it, to make sure it had been done right. Then the stylist was quick to show me the door with a wet head.
This is the poorest example of customer service and satisfaction I've experienced in a long time.
I highly suggest you go anywhere else if getting your hair doneHelpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dec 31, 2014First to Review
I have been a customer of Salon Ami at the Independence location for a long time. Living in Lees Summit I was so happy when they opened this location.
The Salon is great the owner is friendly and helpful.
They are very tuned into education and staying up on the latest and newest cuts and looks.
Great people who will have you looking good!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Kelly S.Denver, CO203242Aug 25, 2018
I should have known this place was terrible when I could make an appointment same day. The stylist was nice, but they knew I was from out of town by my address I had to fill out for the client profile. They quoted me $30-$40 for a blowout when I booked. I go check out and it's suddenly $60. I told her that isn't what I was quoted. I asked to speak with a manager and she said there wasn't one there. She called the manager, told me I was wrong and they quoted me the wrong price and then the employee would be reprimanded. She threatened me by calling the cops as I told her I wasn't going to pay the new price. I'm 6 months pregnant and just paid the full price of $60 to get out of there. Completely taken advantage of by a rude receptionist with for an average blowout. Don't go here! It was a Saturday afternoon and this place was empty. This was only a blowout, thankfully I didn't have a real service done.
Update: After my one star review on Facebook (same as this one), the receptionist and her friends were completely unprofessional with name calling and accusations. They later deleted the comments. Spoke with manager and provided all screenshots of their comments. She apologized profusely and had not been contacted by as the receptionist right after the incident. She refunded me the $20 as she confirmed that should have been the price of the blowout.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Rae P.Los Angeles, CA41610Aug 4, 2018
Den is super sweet!!!. I came in randomly as a walk in i had called a few other salons in the area but did not like their attitudes on the phone. I flew in from Los Angeles and been in Missouri a week i have tape in extensions i wanted to cut the length a bit shorter. I usually go to salons in Beverly Hills but i wanted a fresher more natural look. When i walked in den was sooooo sweet and dressed so cute. She treated me like a friend had really nice conversations and a genuine personality. She layered my hair to look more natural washed dried and styled it. Their prices are really good here it was only 40 for cut + style. I will only come to her every time I'm in Missouri. Her Instagram is @hairstylistden

Terrible. Don't go, my highlights were so bad, even best friend in high school did a better job than this place and that's not sayin much, okay? Don't spend a dime here, but let me tell you, they will try to up-sell you like no other. High sales pressure to get you to buy extra services and buy ALL their products. I felt kind of bad at first to say no, but when it just never ended I got upset and just stopped responding. This place is a joke.

Terrible. I thought that I had found a place to call home for all of my hair care needs, that is until the last and final time I visited this location.
Here's how my visit went- The stylist first asked me what I wanted done. I explained what I wanted, even provided a few pictures and referenced my previous visit to the salon as I wanted something very similar. (Just for the record, I know for a fact that the stylist from previous appointment saved the colors that were used).
Next, I sit down expecting the stylist to start the Balayage technique. (The exact same technique I had done on my previous visit and loved)
As I sat in the chair she applied what I though were the first round of highlights and simultaneously attempted to sell me every single hair product in the store. She even demonstrated on her own hair how the dry shampoo worked, which by the way made her hair look horrific, but I'm sure the all-nighter she pulled the previous night with her ex-boyfriend played into her messy hair situation a bit. She openly admitted she and her ex rekindled the night before, leaving her exhausted and running on fumes that day. And, this is the point when I started to question her abilities.
Next, She slapped on the highlights, let them set for a while, then washed my hair. I was a little confused because I thought she had only applied one color, but I still wanted to give her the benefit of doubt. However, much to my surprise, she washed my hair, started to blow dry it when I realized, "OMG, she's done!?" my hair was absolutely TERRIBLE, I was now the proud owner of some very trashy looking blonde highlights. And, honestly at this point I was thinking I could have done a better job with a box of dye at home! I have one highlight in particular in my bangs where my hair naturally parts that looks like someone dropped a dollop of bleach/dye on my hair and left it! It's so terrible she even knew she had messed up because she suggested that I just work my other hair around to cover it up! WTF?
That was part one. Next, I was almost in tears when I asked her if she was going to add the second color as I had requested? She looked stunned, like I had just offended her! I was then moved to the pedicure chair to wait while she assisted her next customer. An hour later she moved me back to her chair, added a second color which did help tone down the terrible blonde highlights, so I will give her a little bit of credit for that. 3-4 hours later I pay for the services, (over $300.00) and leave. Hands down the worst experience I have ever had in a salon. P.S. I still hate my hair.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Kerrie J.Lone Jack, MO02Jun 30, 2017
Tried booking through their online appointment link but it never connected to the booking site. Just sat there spinning circles. So I called to make an appointment but waited on hold for over 10 minutes. If it takes them more than 10 minutes to book an appointment probably not some place I want to get my hair done.

I had aga great experience at this salon! They were open on Sunday which is difficult to find. I got a blow out and makeup done. Chelsey who did both was attentive, helpful and made sure to help me get a look I wanted for my engagement photos. She took extra time to make sure my hair would hold and gave me a beautiful look I could never achieve on my own. The salon was clean, neat and the products used both in my hair and for my makeup were great. Highly recommend.

I will not be returning! I thought I had found my forever hair salon. I started there 3 years ago when I wanted to chop my super long hair. I grew it out for 3 years because I missed the length. Went in again during the pandemic to get a trim and swooping bangs. I booked with a woman I have seen 2-3 times because she is a master stylist and was available in a few days. Sat down and said I wanted a trim to get the dead ends off and wanted long swooping bangs. I showed her a picture of me from 9 years ago and said I want these bangs back. She said she could do it and it was easy. WELL she chopped off over 3 inches! My hair was to my middle back and now it is just below my shoulders! I was like ok.. its ok.. hair grows back... Then she moves on to my bangs. She starts cutting them while they are wet and starts just above my eyebrows! I freak out inside and tried to just trust her and go with it... Well... In the end I have 90's style side bangs, not swooping bangs. So I am pinning them back for a good 2-3 months until they grow to the correct length. When I was trying to make the bangs lay flat and not go up... she smacked my hand away from my hair. Then when I checked out - she said nice meeting you... I felt so ... just ugh... never returning.
