I went here for a massage awhile ago. I had the same experience of the gal talking the entire time. Not just talking...but asking me questions. I didn't even get to relax.
very annoyed and haven't been back since.

Crowded and unprofessional. My massage therapist talked throughout my massage, as in "don't you just looooove massage?" and manicures and pedicures are very cursory--not remotely pampering.

Went on a Sunday at last minute. Was pretty amazed that they took me. Very clean. My hair cut was okay, but she the hairdresser did NOT cut my hair right.. Very quite. Great prices, but could find something cheaper for something better. Not sure I would go back.
The massage therapist is a real ditz! She told me to prepare for the massage and she'd be back..She wasn't back for 10 minutes! She came back wreacking of cigarettes! She kept asking me how long she wants me to massage everything.. I was like hello its your job. the place is sooo cluttered and the front desk is sooo rude and everyone there is soo full of themselves. I'll never go back. This is a very unprofessional salon
Worst salon I've ever been to. I went for a manicure & the manicurist was talking to someone else the entire time she did my nails! Not kidding, the whole time. How about paying attention to your work, and your customer, just a little?
Then, I attempted to give them another chance. When I tried calling to make an appointment - in the middle of the day, so they were definitely open - no one answered the phone. Repeated tries, no answer. Are you kidding me? I took that as a sign. Never going back.
Great place. I don't tend to be the type to get lots of haircuts but when I do, I go here...to Bob. He's cool and styles me up real nicelike.

I really don't like giving bad reviews, but just had a really painful waxing experience. Usually have Heather (who's great!) but had a sub today as Heather's on leave and came home with a lot of pain and an only partially done wax. Try somewhere with a more experienced waxer or wait for Heather. Ouch.

I have been going to Salon 212 for about six or seven years. In all of that time, I have found the stylists and nails techs very professional and caring. The same goes for the owners and receptionists.
I am sure that now and again, someone might slip up and talk too much to another person while working, but personally, that has never happened to me. Or that someone might be late for your appointment. That can happen anywhere.
The salon is a clean and happy place and for me, a very social person, the fit is good. Even though most of the stylists don't know me personally, they are all very friendly and polite and take the time to say hello to customers that they see repeatedly.
I have been to salons where nail techs are getting their own hair dyed while doing my nails. Now that is rude. Nothing like that would go on at Salon 212.
Many of my friends also go to Salon 212 and have for many years. I think that long term loyalty says alot about a place.

Sorry- didn't like it at all. Went here because of the stellar reviews. I tend to have somewhat difficult hair, but I have usually been able to handle a stylist who can handle it. Unfortunately this was not the case. I got highlights and a cut, and while the highlights looked nice, they were not at ALL what I asked for. Furthermore, my hair has NEVER been this damaged before. I don't know what they did- but I certainly won't ever return.

Wish there was a no stars option! And I wish I read the reviews prior to going. First of all, I think it's a bad sign when you call a day spa, and can barely hear the receptionist. I had the same feeling when I walked into the salon- a little more than "too" noisy for a day spa. Second bad sign- when the person who just applied hot wax to your eyebrows says that she doesn't normally do this, that the regular person is out sick. Third bad sign, it's been a few days, and the skin just below my eyebrows is still raw and peeling- like a bad sunburn. Anyone who looks at me can tell I have sensitive skin (white as a ghost kinda thing), and she didn't prepare the skin or put anything on it after, even when I asked. Fourth bad sign, similar to Cindy G, my manicurist/pedicurist talked to other people the entire time. I usually feel bad when I don't tip... but not here! Go elsewhere- I definitely will.
One star is too much. I am new to the area and made an appointmet two weeks ahead of time for a hair color, cut, pedicure and eyebrow wax. My appolintment was for 9:00. I called the day before to confirm. I got there about 8:50. I checked in and the receptionist told me that my stylist would be right with me. The waiting area was small and there was no place for me to sit. Once people started being called I got a seat. I waited until about 9:10 and approached the receptioninst. She told me my stylist was running late and had just called to say she was one minute away. I waited 5 more minutes. For all the time I was there, no one ever approached me to let me know that my stylist was running late until I asked. I thought that was rude. If I was waiting for a sylist I knew and liked, I might have waited. But since I didn't even know who I was waitng for and figured my whole schedule of other services would be off I told them that I thought it was rude that if they knew the sylist was not even there - not to infom me. I left. I would never, ever go back. There are too many other spas and shops in the Oak Park, Forest Park area to try.
