Best vineyard in SLO
they have the best red wine I have ever tasted here.
Pick up a bottle of their DEVIL DOG RED! it's to die for!
The place is located in an old school house its totally worth a stop and a drink.
$5 to taste all there wines, who can't afford that!

I've driven past this place countless times, and this was the first time I've actually stopped in. The outside looks like a deserted old-school school house, but the inside is very nice with hardwood floors, tall ceilings & a small art gallery.
My favorite was the Pinot Naturale (Pinot Noir). I have a bias towards reds, but this white made the cut. Apparently it was supposed to be a champagne originally, but the wine maker decided to change it up mid-recipe. It is a sweeter, and thicker wine and is probably due to the sugar.
2nd favorite was Devil Dog Red. It was a sweeter red, and not dry. My favorite combo.
They definitely got dinged for their service. I came with 2 other people around 11am on a Saturday. There was one other couple tasting, and they were either on their 3rd or 4th taste (out of 5). The server got to us and gave us our 1st drinks promptly. So far so good. Then I notice she only gives the crackers to the couple. Nothing offered to us. Ok... i'll let it go. Maybe they only have 1 bowl. We get our 3rd tasting, but I notice the server is paying attention only to the couple who was in before us, and the new couple who walked in. And ta da, they get the crackers. I wasn't happy because I really wanted something to snack on while tasting. Call me sensitive, but I was slightly offended.
We finish our tasting and decide to buy a few bottles. Instead of helping all 3 of us with our purchases, she takes this approach: She helps my friend buy a few bottles, then ignores the rest of us until after she's poured & helped the other couple purchase their wine. I would have understood if she poured a glass for the other couple, then came to finish the rest of our orders so we could leave. But no. She decided to dedicate her attention to them. Maybe she forgot about us? Maybe because we look like college kids we had a lower priority... but I know we bought 3x more wine than that couple. After she was done pouring and helping the others make their purchase, she came back to finish ours. I ended up buying only 1 bottle.
I felt ignored and received sub-par service. The 2 bottles of wine stated above are good, but not good enough for me to come back on my own.
I really enjoyed this winery! Try their naturale. Set in a cute old farmhouse with very friendly people, it was completely enjoyable. and an easy drive from Avila Beach!
