8 reviews for Salem Waterfront Hotel & Suites
I first met the catering manager, Allyn, at a bridal expo. I politely took the information and went crazy searching tons of other locations. I stumbled back upon the hotel when I took my niece to Salem for an afternoon and I decided to check out the hotel since I never even reviewed the info she gave me at the bridal show, assuming it would be out of my budget. I was wrong!
The hotel is small ( less than 75 rooms), but very elegantly decorated and the service I've received when coming to meet with the catering manager and see the space for our wedding, was excellent. The ballroom can comfortably hold 150+ guests and is not overdone the way some function spaces can be. Allyn has been very flexible and accomodating and has patiently answered a ton of questions I've thrown at her.
After seeing a bunch of places in and around Boston, and even considering a destination wedding, we have booked Salem Waterfront Hotel and Suites for our wedding next summer. I'll update this review once we've had our tasting and after the event as well.

I'm pissed. Perhaps I shouldn't be writing this until I clear my head, but I want this known. I called up the reservation line on Wednesday night to make "Mother's Day" plans at the waterfront hotel restaurant. They have a 29.00 pre fix menu. The answering service told me to leave my information and that they would be in touch with me promptly.
I guess this hotel has a different definition of prompt. It's called NEVER! I followed up with a phone call to the front desk and was told they would get back to me the next day. NOPE! I called Friday morning and was told they would call in 15 minutes. NOPE! I finally called and got a person who was able to look at the rezzie book. "I'm sorry, but there are no seatings left". Ya think they could have told me that earlier so that I could make rezzies elsewhere?
I got some ditsy excuse from the restaurant manager that they had been inundated with mother's day reservation calls. You don't tell that to the guest! I don't want to hear your problems. Just tell me you guys effed up and apologize. Instead, this place tries to be ABOVE the customer. They are too cool to call people back. Oh, and I called the general manager of the hotel. He never called me back.
You may think I should not be choosing this battle and that I should get over it. Well, yelp has helped me with that. If you have read this you can eat there at your own caution. Just know that there are much nicer restaurants in the area that don't treat you like you should feel privliged to eat there. Take the grapevine, for example. They are across the street, have nice and caring staff, and have five star food.
If you're looking for a nice mother's day brunch and the Lyceum is full, go to Kings and get your mother a sticky bun and coffee in bed.

I live in Boston, so, for me it is 20 minutes ride to Salem Waterfront Hotel. I love to stay there during summer time. Hotel located in historic part of Salem withing walking distance to everything in Salem.
Their bar is another story. Good drinks and great music every night. I hope to hear some jazz or classical music next summer.

The Salem Waterfront Hotel is a great place to stay in Salem! It is right in the heart of town so you can walk to all the restaurant and shops. They have their own parking lot so check in is easy. The beds are really comfortable and the staff is helpful and friendly.
The hotel is clean and comfortable. It offers all the basics, plus a pool, meeting rooms, function space, and a restaurant. I don't usually dine at hotel restaurants but ate there and enjoyed their flat bread pizza. It's a cute little pub.
Basically, a quality place to stay when visiting Salem. I would also consider holding an event here because of its location and parking.
This place has a very friendly staff, very comfortable beds/pillows/comforters, and a very convenient parking lot.
Also great location, near some delicious dining locations. Definitely recommend.
Easy to find, parking is a breeze thanks to a private lot, rooms are nice looking, wireless internet is completely free and very convenient, only problem is this place seems to book up quickly so short notice reservations may be a little hard to work out!
Location is great and it is in walking distance of some of Salem's more interesting offerings.
Although I am a Salem Resident, my husband and I stayed here on our wedding night. We had a great night stay there. The staff was very friendly, the room nice and a king size bed to boot. The pillows were huge and fluffy and the comforter enveloped me. The room was a bit warm for a june evening so that is why I am giving a 4 star instead of 5. It is a great location right downtown, within walking distance to everything. If you drive it has its own private parking lot. Rates are reasonable and continental breakfast is included. The have a bar/ restaurant on site as well as conference room, banquet room, fitness center and an indoor pool.
Stayed her for 2 nights for my wedding. We stayed in a suite, had 2 rooms to spread out in. Bed and furnishings were all comfortable. Parking was a cinch as well, if no space in the lot (which we never experienced) a parking garage is literally across the street. Overall had a great experience however I gave 4 stars because there was no room service available which is a must for me. I like to slowly wake up over coffee and eggs in my p.j's. There is a pub inside the hotel that serves pretty good food though.
