A really cozy cafe that has been there for as long as I can remember.  As a long time Pacifica resident of over 22 years, and an avid cafe attendee, I am very particular about my cafes.  I will definitely come back to this quaint and cozy cafe.

4 stars because there weren't many outlets to plug into.
Free Wifi that was easy to access.
I wish they didn't close so early.

The place was warm, with lots of natural sunlight coming through. I sat right by the window at a small round table.  Ordered a vanilla coffee, which was great.

I came around 11am, and within the 2 hours that I remained with my laptop there was a steady flow of people coming in and out to have lunch.  Apparently it's really good.  I also saw a few people sit down and just read the paper, and I made friends with some of the regulars.

It seems like a place that many people come back to.  There were a few people at the counter hanging out watching Youtube vids on their laptop.

Overall, very cozy and a great cafe! I'll be back soon.

I love this place for three reasons: homey ambiance, delicious comfort food, and great service!

Fellow yelper Chris R. recommended this place and you know it was a recommendation worth rewarding and the caliber I am talking is: giving a ride to the airport at 5 AM or help moving!  ::laughing::  I went here two days in a row with different friends. Both were impressed. Me? I sank into the seat and enjoyed a delicious cappuccino with foam that clung to the bowl shaped cup until the very last drop.

The first time I went there I had the freshly made Pupusas (zucchini and cheese)  that were served piping hot and ooey gooey delicious! The Salada salad is one of the best salads I have had in a long time with fresh lettuce (NOT Iceberg, thank you!) and chunks of cucumber and apple, toasted pine nuts and fresh house made dressing -  THIS BIG SALAD IS SEXY HEALTHY!

The next day I had the Loco Omelet with crispy browned ham, sauteed spinach, and cream cheese inside the fluffy egg wrapping along with THREE SIDES: black beans, fried banana and home fries. OMG, that was a gorgeous breakfast at 12:00 in the afternoon!

I love this place because the food is delicious, the prices are comfortable for most people, and the ambiance reminds me of my old flat in the city when I was single with a "book wall"  in my living room.  You'll know what I mean when you see it - get ready to get cozy when you visit this Pacifica gem!

Five well earned stars - without a doubt, I will return!

Minutes away from the beach and seconds off the freeway sits Salada Beach Cafe on the corner of Oceana Blvd. and Paloma Ave.

Didn't really know what to expect, I had never heard of it and the only thing I had to go by were the reviews on yelp. The first thing you notice as you walk through the doors is the huge book shelf that hugs the right wall.

Scenario:
Walk in, pick up a menu, place your order at the front, take a number, pay, grab any available table, and wait for the delicious food.

Since it was my first time visiting Salada Beach Cafe I didn't have a clue as to what i wanted. The servers were nice enough to offer me a cup of coffee to enjoy as I was making my decision. Instantly, I was pleased and felt quite comfortable in unfamiliar territory.

In the end I got the 'basics' breakfast with bacon and rye toast. Everything from the atmosphere, to the coffee, to the service, to the generous food portion made my morning and breakfast.

I love this cafe. The food, especially the baked goods, are unbelievably tasty; and the staff is always warm and friendly. The space has a very welcoming atmosphere, and the art on the walls is usually pretty interesting as well. The Salada Beach Cafe even regularly saves some of their organic compost for us to use in our neighborhood community garden.

Did you know?....

The Salada Beach Cafe is house in one of Pacifica's oldest and most well used buildings?  I find it so relaxing to inhale the fragrance of my jasmine tea.  A fragrance that takes me back to the scents of honeysuckle in the summer.  All of this while relaxing in an establishment with architectural and community roots reaching back over 100 years.

Wow what a find! The area is pretty sleep and inconspicuous for an awesome joint like this. I had a delicious egg sandwich (with ham) and then a regular ham sandwich on my second visit. Deeelish! Espresso (lattes) were great too.

Seating is questionable and yes, when one is open, snag it quick! Seating arrangements are not like Crepevine in San Francisco (have to order first and then able to take a seat...nope not here!).

Interesting and friendly staff. Go here for a good kickstart to your day

Great coffee and a decent breakfast menu...definitely will be back.

I found this little spot in Pacifica to have coffee or lunch. It is called Salada Beach Cafe, it is on Paloma Ave. It is a pale red Victorian type house that reminds me of an old corner shop. Quaint, friendly and kind of eclectic inside with really good coffee and delicious banana nut bread.

Cookies are good too!

A friend from City College introduced me to the place and it has an easy-going atmosphere with homemade style food. Local people like to go there. So I think that is a good sign.

The steamed milk for the Cafe Late and Cappuccino's is outstanding, made with so much care and expertise. The foam really thick and rich almost like a pudding in texture and consistency. Wow! Yum!

There is no air conditioning so it can be a bit warm inside on hot days. Yet, there is a spot out back to sit. That's if there are no couples  making out. Ha! I went to sit out there and there was a cute couple exchanging kisses and passionate embraces. Yes, I let them have their privacy and found another spot.

Ah, to be in love!   :)

Anyway, the cafe like most of Pacifica and the surrounding Peninsula coast area is very low-key and a bit sleepy in pace and demeanor. A really nice spot to be on a sunny day.

Limited street parking outside the door. They accept credit and ATM cards.

I'm dropping a star for one reason only: the seating policy in this place is non-existent and unfair. You can simply arrive and take a table without ordering or paying. So a paying patron (or single patrons who cannot hold a table while/before ordering) must have to wait for the tables to open up by wandering around aimlessly with no place to sit.

This has been a peak/mid-day Salada Beach Cafe problem ever since we first came here: we could order, pay for our food, get a plastic number in a stainless steel older indicating that you have paid and then have nothing to do but stand with no place to go, while the seats get snatched up by new arrivees who selfishly will steal any open table with nary a polite glance around.

So the normally nice manager clearly decides that this is not her place to say; that she is not going to put her paying customers ahead of the ones who decide to steal a table even before they've ordered.

"We are just a coffee shop here."

That's BS: They serve the most amazing breakfast here, and this is not just a hippie Starbucks.

So if you have ordered, and the food arrives and there are no open tables because a family just entering the place decides to grab an open table before even opening a menu, you are SOL, and you have no recourse except maybe to sit down on the floor and eat the (Still delicious) food.

This is crap, and they need to change the policy of open table seating for anyone, paying or not. This might work for off hour times, but is not justified when people are waiting in line to eat at any establishment.

The policy should be revised and simple: order and pay for the food/drink and then find your table.

What to do when you are getting an oil change and are starving in Pacifica???  Walk on over to Salada Beach Cafe for some tasty food and the strongest coffee ever (which for me I love!).

When I walked in I took a look at the menu and decided on the french toast.  It sounded super yummy and I was in need of some carbs so perfect.  I also ordered a dark roast coffee.  The man behind the counter recommended that I take things slow and have the medium blend so I agreed and while my first cup was tasty I was looking for something with a bit more kick (I was really in need of a pick me up!).  So I went up and asked for the strong stuff and it was strong and I loved every drop.  You know a great cup when you have one and this place for sure had some great coffee.

Now onto my breakfast!  The french toast was so great - freshly made with the greatest bread ever!  I loved every bite and actually now that I am yelping about it I may need to go back and have it again!  Wonderful breakfast - very good recommendations - very local.  I loved it and recommend that you all check this place out!

Biggest draw is the very  friendly and accomodating staff-- they really make the cafe feel homey and comfortable.

The food  has got a dash of TLC that raises it above standard cafe fare-- I recommend the pot pie, and the  various homemade soups.

What do you get when you put bacon and avocado together? BACADO!

(http://www.yelp.com/bi...) (http://www.yelp.com/bi...)

I will let the pictures speak for themselves.

Glorious chunks of avocado and bacon, mixed in scrambled eggs and drizzled in sour cream. It was delicious, hearty and filling. Laaaaaaaa. The angels were singing upon me.

Tall bookshelves filled with books and boardgames. Cozy couches for lounging. Very homey.

We've driven by many times and never knew of this find.  As first timers I knew it was going to be a nice breakfast. Took us back to being relaxed and enjoying ourselves.  It's definitely not a cookie cutter new type or diner establishment. Just a little neighborhood place that everyone knows each other atmosphere.

Our lineup:  tostada, waffles, loco, steamed milk chocolate++ and high hitting Guatelaman Light Free Trade coffee.  The coffee alone was worth the trip, strong, dark roast with hints of mocha. The eggs were just right on the tostada, the waffles are excellent and smelled of cinnamon as it flew by.  The loco was rich in taste, fluffy omelette with tasty ham and well cleaned spinach.

Go out of my way to give Big Big Ups to the goateed gentleman (I'm sorry failed to ask your name).  He went out of his way to even take our order PERSONALLY even after seating us first. Not the norm.  I can assure you this pissed off someone snippy on the staff/owner for not following the program.  If that wasn't the saving grace, this could've gone South.

Cons: Keep up the same service hope it rubs off on everyone.  I think the consensus words used have been annoyed and frustrated behind the counter.  Anthony C's review sort of rang a bell.  Man, am I not wanted here too?  We're not bad people, we pay and give good tips. One star subtraction.

Nothing special...
The lady behind the counter seemed annoyed to help us, like we were bothering her by ordering.

I liked my waffle with whipped cream and "fruit", but it was $1.75 more for the topping and they only put about a 1/2 cup of whipped cream.  It barely lasted half my waffle!  I didn't even have the opportunity to ask for some butter cuz no one even came close to our table.  The "fruit" was good, but it was just strawberries - albeit very fresh and tasty strawberries.  The waffle was crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside.
I liked it, but I would rather get it to go than sit in the cafe.  The waiters were more interested in hanging out and only those seated at the counter got any attention.   Also, something about the shape of the building makes it very loud - I could hear every word of the surrounding conversations.

The hubby liked his breakfast burrito, but wouldn't get it  again.  The filling was really wet, so it kinda went smushy at one point.  He did like what was inside it though.

The coffee was good, but no refills.  We were going to order O.J. until we saw the price - $2 for a small and $4 for a large.  We be broke so that was out.

So for the burrito, waffle with topping, coffee, and a tea we spent $21.  Definitely a once in a while type place.

The food is pretty good, but the atmosphere does not invite lingering.

Great food and good coffee (no refills, though!!), but why do I get the feeling every time I go in here that I'm not wanted? It's as if I have just walked uninvited into someone's house. I'm sorry to bother you and all.

The funny thing is, I want to go back!

I typically do not like to eat anything that I did not cook myself or that I do not know how its made. Gues that makes me a critict of most restaurants. This place is awesome. Everything is made with wholesome ingredients and with a California Kitchen Cuisine flavor. Friendly staff and world music make it a pleasant environment. It does get a bit busy at times so you may have to wait but its worth it!

Old, dark wood cafe with friendly faces, big personalities, regulars that take notice what newspaper you read and help you find the other half, look at you in shock if you don't order the same thing you always order--

Offer kind words when you make a mistake on an article in the paper [I am a freelancer], tell you little things you didn't know-- and promote art, music and literature all the while.

An absolute gem, down the street from my Pacifica cottage-- that I had absolutely no idea existed until a couple of months ago. Now, I go about once a week or every two weeks for lunch, with my laptop or a girlfriend-- and hang out, shoot the breeze with regulars, and write cover letters/ articles/ apply for jobs/ apply for grad school. Haha.

LOVED the caramel latte, the iced chai, grilled cheese w/ tomato and the tomato, basil, feta, olive pizza! YUM. With a crisp, fresh salad. Delish! I'll be back soon!!!

Great local place for fabulous big brunch.  Enjoy a mimosa on a quiet Pacifica morning, the peace, and the good eats.  The breakfast burrito is packed with potatoes, eggs, pico de gallo and your choice of breakfast meat.  I just went there this past Saturday to have brunch with a friend.  Was feeling ravenous, so went for the (sorry if I'm not naming this correctly) the Loco or Loca platter.  DIVINE!  Ham and spinach sauteed together, with 2 perfect over easy eggs.  And if that's not enough, it comes with black beans, fried platanos AND hash brown potatoes.  Wow!  Can't wait to come back again...

This place is really cool to go and hang out in the mornings talk to people and enjoy your coffee.
i love the ladies in the back of the counter they are very nice and strait forward. The guys are nice too! Since its a coffee shop there is no waiters so keep that in mind people it's not a restaurant so it's a different type of service so dont complaint about that unless you know your cafe info.
Every month there is different kind of art and its cool to get to see different things in this shop.
most of the time they are really busy during the weekend and dont take things personal if you cant get a seat right away thats just how things work in the real world so relax and wait for your spot.
I go there every weekend so it's worth it go and enjoy and after you are done you can even walk over to the beach so what more can you ask for.

Shatangi has to agree with the majority of the reviewers.  A great cup of coffee form a non-chain outlet gets my money any time.  The staff is both diverse and uber-friendly without seeming asskissy.  They brought me the wrong toast with my order but I did not care. I was served what I consider the best Denver omelette  I have EV-AR had.  The eggs perfectly cooked and the fillings expertly prepped with consideration for their size and cooking time.  A VERY satisfying breakfast!!!!

CAFFEINITIS.

I am a coffee freak. Its my crack! I gotta have my daily dose of it . All I gotta say is Salada got good crack. Hahaha. I love their Iced white mochas. My goD!!! I am religious drinker at Starbucks, but I've been going to Salada Beach Cafe everyday for the last serveral months. Greatest thing is that they are located right along the freeway, which makes it so convenient when you're on the go.

Its a small little cafe that serves breakfast and some lunch. Cozy little place to read books/newspaper, or catch up on assignments. Its children friendly, a lot of homemakers bring their 3yo-7yo for a bite. Salada's not highly staffed, hence its a small place. You shouldn't expect great service, nor that friendly. Female staff there are not that inviting, but the owner and 1 male barista there is really cool.

Only downside is that they close at 3! They really need extended hours.

Recommended: Iced white mocha w/whip or white mocha w/whip.
Iced white mocha is definitely must try!

Will I be returning? Most definitely. 5 stars for the coffee!

Salada Beach cafe anchors my little neighborhood of East Sharp Park in Pacifica. If you're driving south on 1 and see the castle on your left then you've just driven past this place.

The good: Great breakfasts. California-mexican fusion hot plates and good simple egg & cheese with bacon too. Drip coffee is fine, the tea selections are varied and of high quality. A Pacifican woman local to the shop makes some of the tea blends herself last I heard. Pastries are top quality though baked elsewhere.

The bad: Hours! Salada Beach cafe is close to the very nice Oceana indoor pool but they both close at 3pm on weekends so I can't warmup after public swim. It's really strange, they need a second shift of employees. They have bottles of wine but they're not open in the late afternoon or evening. Who drinks these? Mysterious!

More bad: espresso drinks. Every time I see someone fail to tamp grinds or not clean off the group head I just want to duck behind the counter and teach them how to pull a shot. But I just order a drip instead and that is a-ok.

The staff is friendly and the cafe rotates art out every now and then. The back couch area needs more light. The couches would probably work much better up front near the windows and throw more tables in back--Still with better lighting.

I've eaten here a few times now and I gotta say that this is my new favorite place for breakfast. It's kinda small and comfortable with friendly staff and patrons as well. The homey feel of the place lends itself to this well. I have not had the coffee here but my Wife has and says it's very good. What I can vouch for is the really great jasmine green tea that they have it's loose leaf and they tie a little bag for you, a nice touch. I always order the omelette with mushroom, tomato & cheddar cheese which is my standard breakfast fare and sort of a benchmark wherever I go.
They also have a wide variety of reading material available which is really nice because the newspapers don't make it down here early in the morning.

I Loved this pace. The staff is So friendly! The food was so fresh and mmmm mmmm good. The reason for the minus star was the number of tables. - a couple more and the place would be perfect! it is cozy, that's for sure. the food didnt take long at all. I had the picoroni or somethin. eggs w mushrooms, bellpeppers tomatoes, spinach and some other yummy goodness. it came with 2 pieces of toast and some homefries. the best breakfast i've had in a looooooooong time. my boyfriend had the mexican lasgana, it was off the lunch side, so def not breakfast but still delicious. i also had a white mocha.  I can't believe i'm saying this- but it was better than starbux!! so good in fact, i got another to go, but this time large. the guy at the counter even gave me an extra shot of espresso for free. wow. what stellar service all around here! i will DEF be back and DEF recommend.
mmmmmm. i wanna go back today ;)

This is the best cafe in Pacifica.  The coffee, service and atmosphere is great. If you want a strong cup of coffee but don't necessarily want the Starbucks experience, then you should visit this cafe.

I wish the building is painted soon, though.  Some dickhole tagged the side of the building last year and it needs a new fresh overall coat of red paint.  I know it would be expensive, but it would make me happy.

As everyone else has pointed out, this place has great coffee. I had a delicious spinach and feta omelette that served me well for two meals, and they have stacks of newspapers and old National Geographics to peruse while enjoying their great food and drink. This enabled me to read an article Birute Galdikas wrote for NG in the 70's, which is both pertinent to my interests and hard to find.

it's a great go-to breakfast place for the weekend.  the bacado was probably the best breakfast dish ive had in a long time.  everything was so fresh and nicely seasoned.  it's also right next to the beach.  the food and atmosphere was perfect, however it took a while for us to get our food.  it was understandable though since the place was really busy.  i'll have to go back and see how it is on other days.

Great little coffee shop/cafe. When you walk in, you'll notice that there is not a whole of seating room, and you order food at the counter, and its brought to you.

Prices are excellent, but the menu is limited to decent combination of breakfast and lunch items.

I went here because my friend Jennifer suggested that I should go as it has "the best" coffee.

Well, the coffee was serviceable, and the waitstaff was attentive, but what really kind of bugged me were :

A) the hours.  Who the fart stays open from 6:00 am to 3 PM???

B) The seating.  It was actually plentiful, but the back couches may have been better suited in the front or middle areas.  It was kind of like sitting in a cave.

But, aside from that, its not bad.  If you're in the hood, check it out.  But I wouldn't go out of your way to do so.

Food was okay.  The cafe's atmosphere was nice, but the woman at the counter was not so friendly.  Frankly, she looked annoyed.  I must say, the sandwich was good.  Gonna go back, and Review it again.
