Great spot in Hermosa to watch bands and grab some drinks and food.
I've watched Tomorrows Bad Seeds here as well as Stranger - both times I've had great experiences.
Happy Hour is definitely worth it - seems that almost everything on their menu (including drinks) are $5. I've had the mini saint macs - pretty good flavor! Buffalo sliders were extremely disappointing, they were burnt and had no flavor. Teriyaki skewers are a must! Succulent cuts of chicken and beef. Also, can't go wrong with the garlic parmesan fries. Just an FYI - the sliders already come with fries (i didn't know and had mounds of fries).
This could be a cute/romantic spot before the crowd comes in later in the evening. The decor is dark with black booths and bar and brick walls.
Will keep coming back for the bands! -

The service is the worst that I have experienced in a long time. That is saying a lot since I live in Korea town Los Angeles. I came here with my fiancé to see her college friends perform a reggae show. The first waitress did not acknowledge us at all. And the second waitress did not want to serve us since we had a tab at the bar. And to add insult to injury it wasn't even busy.
Beside the bad service, the music and atmosphere was great. Fortwentydaze had a great set -

Ahh finally enjoying a college Thursday out :) jus like old times! looool ugh I feel old.
Came here when my friend was a promoter for one of the reggae bands. We came here and it was a pretty cool place. The bar was clean and there were plenty of seats. There were TVs along the bar so you can watch whatever is happening on the stage from the bar stools. During that night they had various drink specials like one dollar hawaiian beers and three dollar reggae shots! We had many rounds that night and danced the night away! The crowd was pretty mixed with a large age range. The restrooms were clean and were well lit. I will definitely be back here to see another band or to just hang out with some friends. It is a great venue! -

Had to come back here again after watching a live band. This time they had live karaoke band that played 80's music...I love the 80's.
It was chill....adult mature crowd looking for a good time. Hopefully I can get someone to come back with me again. Although....the karaoke night was tooooo loud. -

Saint Rocke is a nice intimate venue to enjoy live music. They always seem to book good reggae bands! I've seen Michael Rose at this venue, and it was such a great time. The music was amazing, and the sound was dialed in just right for the space.
The bar was clean and there were lots of seating next to the stage.. There were TVs along the bar so you can watch whatever is happening on the stage from the bar stools, so it was comfortable watching the bands even while sitting down to enjoy a drink! I definitely am planning to go back, it looks like they book many talented bands and one of the cooler place ive been to in the south bay. -

Midway City, CA
I love watching live music in little venues so I was excited when I found Saint Rocke. Upon arrival, that excitement sure didn't last! My friend and I were waiting in line for our tickets when the lady in front of us asked if she could prepay for her mom and dad. The girl rudely responded, "No, I have too many lists going and I'm NOT making another one! They can text you when they get here" Shortly after a man came up (I'm assuming the manager) and the girl let him know that one of the employees called and his car was broken down so he wouldn't be in for a while. The man's response was an even ruder, "Tell him Yellow Cab is an easy number to call!" and walked away. Even after seeing the attitudes in this place my friend and I decided to pay our cover and go in anyway. Not the best choice, but we were already there and had nothing else planned. We walked in and all the seats outside of the restaurant area were taken so we decided to sit in the restaurant. We ordered drinks and the waitress (who of course was RUDE just like everyone else in this place) asked if we'd be placing a food order. We said we weren't sure but probably. Our drink order (2 sodas!) took FOREVER! Once she finally came back with them we had decided to order and once we did her attitude suddenly changed. I guess she only thought we were worth paying attention to once our bill got higher. The music started and the sound was so bad! It was super loud but you couldn't understand a word of the songs. We finished our meal and went over to the dance floor hoping to have a little more fun over there. Once we got there we realized that the floor slopes upwards towards the stage so all of the drunks dancing in front of us kept stumbling backwards into us. No one there seemed to have any idea of personal space anyway and the slanted floor made it that much worse. At one point some very drunk girl stepped on my toes with her high heel and just stood there until I pushed her off. No one from security even came over to ask why I just shoved this girl half way across the dance floor which makes me also realize that this place majorly lacks in security. A few minutes later drunk chick falls on the floor and yet is still allowed to remain and is served more drinks. We left shortly after and will NOT be back!

Live music, great food and brews, and an awesome happy hour...what more could you ask for? Service can be slow, but its worth the wait. Get the North Coast Pranqster on d draft and any of their flat bread pizzas. Happy hour is until 7pm, so can enjoy both for for ONLY $10!

This is my new favorite venue because it's very relaxing with the wooden decor, leather seats and low lights. The food and drinks are awesome and the band selections are great. The appetizers are all only $5 during happy hour and I tried the goat cheese marinara and it was addicting. One request is for them to have more Dueling Piano events, country music, and to serve Michelob Ultra =p

Intimate venue with some good acts. The bar/lounge is setup with some nice decor. Happy hour is good, drinks are alright, and the food is better than most. Service is hit or miss, but if you're there to see an act, then who cares.. right? Enjoy the atmosphere, lighting and sound.

I saw Hellogoodbye here on Saturday night. Every employee I encountered was insanely polite - from the door guy to the ticket taker to the bartenders and waitresses. Everyone was so friendly and on top of things without being pushy.
My pint of Guinness was $6. My friend's rum and coke was $7 or $8. Not bad for a trendy/hipster bar on a Saturday night!
Tip: If you're going to Saint Rocke for a concert, call and reserve yourself a table in advance! The venue is set up like a restaurant, so if you want a great view, call ahead. You don't have to order food, but you still have to reserve a spot.
I took off one star because of the configuration. As mentioned above, it looks like a restaurant. Two of the tables sit up against the stage. For the three opening acts, the tables stayed where they were. Almost like a dinner theater. I sat at the bar. If you sit on the back side of the bar, they have TVs that broadcast video from the stage.
As Hellogoodbye started their headlining spot, the front two tables were moved aside to make room for the crowd. I wound up being front row and it was awesome!
For $15, I would definitely come back! I loved that the opening acts more or less complimented the headlining band's sound and the vibe was fun. The amazing staff and decent drink prices make it a winner in my book.Listed in: Shop Local, Shop Small, Shop…

Best happy hour in the South Bay, and well, anywhere. Where else can you get stellar food and top shelf drinks for $5? I say no where. They do a great job of booking national and thankfully awesome local bands.
Yes, they are walking distance for me, but there is parking all around.
Keep doing what you are doing as you do it well! -

BOOORRINGGG!!
I was ready to go to sleep in here. but i could because the music was too loud. i couldnt hear anyone trying to talk to me. not even the waitress.
Plus i was surrounded by cougars. awkward.
didnt stay long enough to to try the food..sorry.
Parking is also a joke.
the only thing i can give this place is that it wasnt filled with a bunch of hipsters...but then again everyone was over 60.
snooze fest. -

Rancho Palos Verdes, CA
AWESOME! Perhaps my new favorite happy hour spot in the South Bay.
St. Rocke has been here for some time, but the bar scene is not generally something that I seek, so I had not been here. It is a beautiful bar - dark wood finishes with black pleather seats. There are lots of tables - both high and low - as well as banquettes and a huge bar.
Despite having mostly locked entrances, we found that the door on the corner was open. You seat yourself, and the bartender immediately gets to work. An excellent selection of wine and beer and all of the top shelf liquor you can imagine. And, most everything is $5!!!
The music was great - both the DJ played and the live musician. It was Mike Stocksdale, who was awesome.
The eats were great too:
Kobe Beef Sliders - Medium rare morsels of ground beef on sweet rolls with caramelized onions and mushrooms with a mild aioli. Awesome! Good quality ingredients make good sliders. More aioli would have been great. Also come with fries.
Chipotle Awesome with Pita and Cucumbers - DELICIOUS! A mild spice in this fresh made hummus makes it devourable. Pita and cucumbers were very fresh, and pita was warm. The one lame aspect was there was insufficient pita (even with a tablespoon per bite), and they charge $1.80 for more pita. Lame!
Ahi Tuna Salad - another winner. The mixed greens are tossed in a delicious ginger dressing with radishes and wonton strips.
I also had a glass of the 7 Deadly Zins zinfandel, which was great. I ordered a glass of zin, and the bartender said that they only had red. I had to laugh - is there any other kind? Seriously, that pink stuff is for kids.
I will definitely be back to St. Rocke. Love this place. Out the door with a 20% tip for $17! -
Review from Carmen H.
Small venue with some great lineups. I have been here several times and never been disappointed - the food, drinks and entertainment are fantastic. This is the South Bay's "House of Blue's" and then some..... definitely a gem in disguise. I love the set up. It is a nice restaurant with a very large and classy bar that has a small stage for the entertainment. . I love this place for it brings in patrons of all ages.
NOTE: When going for dinner make sure to be prepared to be asked to move once the entertainment is getting ready to come on for they clear out all the tables within 20 ft in front of the stage -

Saint Rocke is an awesome local music venue that I had been too many times to see shows. They host bands like Pepper, unwritten law, sandsection, tomorrow's bad seeds... Tons of awesome shows right here in Hermosa!
But, I had never been there for food until last night! It turns out Monday is all night happy hour! And on top of that the happy hour is insane! $5 everything on the menu??? So I got an excellent $12 glass of Pinot noir and paired it with one of everything on the menu!
Our server Katy was amazing, extremely welcoming, friendly, and knowledgable. The background music was awesome.. lots of Zeppelin! Over all great atmosphere, great service, and great food! I'll be back! -

Went here last night for a show and OMG - I'm a fan!
Lovely little place that starts off the evening as a fine restaurant. When they have bands you can order food while you watch the bands. Upscale furnishings. A fireplace.
The drinks are GOOD!
This is a simple harmonious balance of lounge, restaurant, and live music venue that is few and far between. I'll be back! -

Went their Saturday Night 10-8-11. to have dinner and watch Groove Session. walked in had reservations for 630 but they found none OH BOY HERE WE GO.. We were told to sit anywere. Ok so we went to sit down oh no that table is going to be moved as soon as band starts THE BAND WAS PLAYING. Ok can we sit here OH NO same thing so we found a place to sit. 25 minutes later FINALLY we had to flag down a waitress to help us. i INTENTIONALLY MADE EYE CONTACT WITH EVERY EMPLOYEE WHO WALKED BY TO NO AVAIL. There was a total of 17 people in restuaraunt YES I counted them. TERRIBLE SERVICE........ We left after Groove Session at 10 oclock and the tables we wanted to sit in were still in the same place.
Everyone of your waitresses looked lost and CONFUSED.......
WILL NEVER BE BACK TO EAT OR DRINK ONLY TO WATCH A BAND BUT I AM HOPEING NONE OF THE BANDS I LIKE PLAY THERE AGAIN -

Small, intimate venue. I was here for a drunken debauchery kind of party. But I would LOVE to go to a concert here.
Best part: Stiff drinks AND they have my favorite gin. Get a Hendricks & Tonic or a Jimmy press if you want a slightly sweet gin drink. -

I remember when this place was The Pitcher House.
Yeah, moving on.... (+1 for you if you got the pun)
So I've been to Saint Rocke twice now, both for Happy Hour and both on a Friday.
While I can say they sure as hell have overhauled the place to look great the service I've received each time has been less than desirable, by that I mean *my food arrives before my draft beer* kind of way.
They may just need less chiefs and more indians in the place, I'm not sure.
The food was OK at best and everything on the menu is 5 bucks during HH (except the sandwiches and burgers) but, my review was based on an establishment I go to drink at, not eat, eating is just something that is optional at this place, not mandatory.
Parking really sucks too, seriously, have fun finding a spot in the nearby neighborhoods or, if you actually have the balls to park on PCH make sure your ass doesn't get run over.
Will I update this review should I come to see a show, you know, the THING this place is meant for?
Sure will, but in the meantime I'll be not coming back for HH anytime soon as one shouldn't have to order 2 drinks at once. -

Very good Happy Hour. And deserted, for the most part while I was there.
The sliders are excellent.
And my girlfriend had a large selection of foofy cocktails to choose among - all at major discount.

Great music every night of the week! Cool times and great crowd...if you didn't hear what you wanted to, come another time because they have variety. I also heard the owner is a huge music fan and is into the music and not just the idea of owning a busienss, which is pretty cool!

Santa Monica, CA
I've driven by this spot plenty of times while carousing around the South Bay, but finally had a chance to visit last week to see a friend's band on a Tuesday night. It also gave me a chance to discover a really great band that I had never heard of from San Diego. If their lineups are always this good I highly recommend stopping in on a random night to hear some great music!
I was also really impressed with the space. It was pristine - looked almost brand new, but with a lot of nice character to it in the decor. It managed to be funky and very modern at the same time, complete with an HD video streaming the shows through their website for those who couldn't make it in person.
They have a decent beer selection as well as your standard bar. The menu said the beers on tap were $5.50 but I was charged $6... not a big enough deal to mention to the bartender, but perhaps they should be consistent. In any case, the bartender and waitress were attentive and friendly the whole night so what's a 50 cent overcharge?
I really look forward to coming back here, and I think Hermosa's really lucky to have such a cool spot for music! -

Redondo Beach, CA
Awesome in every sense of the word. The decor is phenomenal...they spent millions decking out this historical building with a modern interior and it looks great. Food is great.
The music talent they book here are awesome and they acoustics and sound inside is top notch. I love this place. Parking is an issue. -

Hermosa Beach, CA
Awesome happy hour, my faves were the sliders they served there. I went with a girlfriend, but it is much more of a date place (at least the night I went). A guy was playing acoustic guitar and singing, and the ambiance is dark with candles. My friend and I were expecting much more of a interactive loud spot, so maybe next time we'll come on a more happening day! Service was great, the waitress recommended a beer and after I tried and didn't like it, she brought me a different one. Would definitely recommend bringing a date here when it's a mellow band/artist.

This place is sick! You can hear some great bands here on Thurs-Sat night. If you get in before 6pm (I think) it's free and you can enjoy their happy hour specials. After that, you'll have to pay $15 to get in which is kind of expensive, but you'll have a great time regardless. The interior is clean and just spacious enough. Once you enter, the stage is directly to the left, and it's about a foot above the ground so you get all the action right there. There's space in front of the stage to dance or groove. There's also plenty of chairs and tables. For smokers, there's a patio outside that has flat screen TV's and a view of PCH. The best part about this place is the food. It's legit. I recommend the kobe beef sliders and hummus.

New York, NY
(this place would be negative stars if that were an option)
I was in Hermosa over the New Year and made the mistake of letting some friends rope me into Saint Rocke for NYE.
Four beers later at $35 each....and we were out of there before midnight. ($132 cover for bar/food/music)
Band wasn't bad when they played but most of the evening the music provided was nothing but a mix tape -- not a soul in the booth.
Bad news is management heavily advertised a big spread of food and it was just non-existent. Carrots and raw cauliflower were plentiful but unless you were a rugby player willing to scrap for what looked like some sort of sliders there wasn't any other food to be had. Waitresses never got more than a few feet outside of the kitchen before every platter of "food" was picked bare.
Maybe it's a case of shame on us for getting sucked into a NYE ripoff?
Whatever it was, we surely did get ripped off.
Best night to go to this place is...NEVER! -

I came to Saint Rocke to see one of my friends favorite bands play. I really enjoyed the set up. We sat in their little lounge area while the opening acts played. The sound was great and this place does not smell like your typical bar/music venue!
I ordered a Raspberry Bliss and it was awful, tasted nothing like raspberry only rubbing alcohol! I had asked the waitress if i could send it back but she said that i would still be charged! Boo! But she did offer to add something to the drink to make it taste better so i just added pineapple juice. delicious! The food was good, we had the nachos and BBQ sliders. The nachos have a tostada twist, very fancy!
This place is defiantly a must see!!! I'll be coming back to enjoy The Spazmatics!! -

Came here to visit my cousin who was playing the other night. Literally as soon I made contact with the dude at the counter he wanted $10.00 to get in. He failed to ask if I was on the list, which I was. This kind of annoyed me that he wanted money straight out like that, not cool.
As soon as you walk in, this place is dark, quite dark for my taste. Plus, it was very crowded for a Sunday night with people of all ages. I was able to find a table in the far corner and fortunately had a good view of the stage!
Service was a little slow and my table was slightly dirty. I ended up getting Seared Ahi with edamame and also got the buffalo chicken min sliders. I actually liked my seared ahi, it was lightly peppered with sesame seeds and spicy mustard(I think). On the plate was my edamame and a small side of soy sauce. The ahi tasted quite good. My other dish was the buffalo sliders. They came on nice doughy bread and was quite spicy as expected. I wish I got a beer, always next time! Each meal cost $10.00, not bad, but wanted a little cheaper, especially since it is bar food.
Sorry, but the dude at the front door killed the rating for me as well as the dirty table not being clean. -

Not a bad place to catch a drink while enjoying some live music, just wasn't particularly happy with the false advertising of the non-existent happy hour on the weekends. We went on a Sunday - cover charge is a little steep at $12 - and apparently the happy hour is no longer available on the weekend (even though it is advertised as lasting throughout the week).
Decent selection of beers and food. We ordered the Kobe Sliders (comes in a set of 3 for $7) which turned out okay for nibbling. Their nachos were slightly better though I thought the portion was kind of small. I think this place would definitely be more worth it during happy hour, but at normal price it is merely okay. -

I love everything about this place. One of the many reasons why California is the greatest state.
I went to visit my brother last month (from Boston), and he was very determined to take me and my friends here for some dinner. He could not stop talking about this place, and now I know why.
Really cool decor, awesome live music, and the best happy hour I've ever been to. $5 for everything and anything on the menu. $5 for grey goose martinis. $5 for all the delicious menu items that are out of this world. Must try: mini teriyaki skewers, calamari, mini saint macs, garlic parmesan fries, and essentially anything on the menu that sparks youre interest- trust me, it'll be good.
The only thing that annoyed me was that we were unaware that a show was about to go on, so there werent any available tables since most of them were reserved. However, we snatched up some spots at the bar and enjoyed a solid hour and a half of $5 heaven. -

Finally went into St. Rocke last night and now I'm really regretting how long it has taken me to drop in. We were there to see Wakey Wakey with Caitlin Moe, who were really good.
We got there early and had dinner, which overall was about 2.5 - 3 stars, not great, not terrible. The S'mores dessert on the other hand was awesome! Plus, it was just nice to sit around and listen to live music while we ate. The acts seemed a little disorganized until the main at 10:00, but that was kinda cool, it seemed like a bunch of the guys were just jammin together and having fun.
I will definitely be back (it is walking distance for me after all), especially for the Happy Hour on Tuesday & Wednesday with Live Music. -

Redondo Beach, CA
I am on the fence right now - I would give 3 1/2 stars if I could. The venue itself was very cool. I had no problems with any of the staff they were all very courteous. What made me come here in the first place were from comments made about Brixton in Redondo Beach (which I frequent a lot). After I printed my ticket, I read the fine print that says the tickets do not include seating and seating could be provided at an additional cost. Well Brixton does pretty much the same thing with only one exception - at least they use your money towards your bar/food tab. Saint Rocke does not it is a flat out fee $100.00. I was a bit surprised when our check came and it was another $105.00. So it made it a very expensive outing ($270.00 - tickets, seating, food/drinks and tip for 2 people). The show was only 1 1/2 hours long (very short) - which was kind of ok on a Sunday night but for that price? Another thing is that three tables around us were not reserved - so those folks did not have to pay the additional $100. One of the tables was closer to the stage then ours :(.
The food was very good for bar type food. You can customize your own burger so it comes just the way you like it. They are HUGE and come with sweet potato fries. The sweet potato fries were exceptionally good - they actually had a crunch to them with the sweet soft center. We also split a regular sized salad (Mixed greens, strawberries, toasted walnuts, goat cheese with a balsamic dressing). It was very good and more than ample for the two of us.
My drink was really good - a Mint-tini (sp?) - a vodka martini that tasted just like chocolate mint - yum.
The service was very good - and timely. I also liked how they set the mood for that particular show (not sure if they do this for each different one). The music playing prior to the show was much in line with the show itself - very nice touch.
I will be back to give it another try - but will not pay for a seat again. I love these small venues just wish they would stop trying to gouge us poor tail end of baby boomers. We still love to have fun we just need to sit every now and then. -

Upon my first visit to Saint Rocke...I wasn't sure what to expect. I've passed it many times on my drive home to work but never stopped in.
End of last year I had a reason: Stepping Feet (Dave Matthews Band cover band) were playing and me and about 50 Daveheads really needed to get our dmb fix satisfied!
First impressions when walking in? stellar! The ambiance was awesome, staff was welcoming and the food and drinks?... pure awesomesauceness!
I've been so swamped at work and working late but have managed to stop in a half a dozen times since that first visit and never disappointed. -

I came here to meet up with some friends, who were supporting one of their friends that was performing that night. Her name is Connie Lim, by the way, and she is super talented. The show was amazing and the acoustics were great in the cozy space. What really surprised me was the food. I wasn't expecting much of the food, since it's a performance venue, but I believe I had the best margherita pizza ever there. I also had the fried calamari, and they were fried to perfection. Best thing was, the food and drinks were all pretty cheap. We even got some chocolate covered strawberries for fun. I would come back if I knew who was performing for a good show and good food.

Saint Rocke continues to bring me back for Great music. The food is great and if you are planning a birthday The folks there really look after you. Many Times Ive been here now. The best Live spot , in my opinon , in the South Bay.
I would give them 5 stars if they could turn the house music down a smidge or at least be a little aware when it gets really really loud. A little conversation for the punters would be nice. HAHA. Showing my age ? Maybe, but I hate earplugs. And Hate saying, Excuse me , what did you say? All night. But I love Saint Rocke. Thanks for the memories.Listed in: The Places I Go Out

The staff ruled, enough Bartenders during the concert that know one had to wait for a drink during this sold out event. The problem is within the facility itself. Having all tables reserved prior to the concert places an unfair disadvantage to concert goers who have never been there. The stage is to small were as one of the bands could not place all it's props.
