It's clean, cheap with member cards, and it's huges.

I'm so glad Safeway decided to open in Milpitas, kinda feel betrayed when LUCKY pack up and left for more $$$ and become Albertson and now they bankrupt and LUCKY come back. well, sorry LUCK but Safeway is a lot better then you.

they have more fresh produce and the meat department is awesome and plus they have a Peet's right next door. I know there is a starbuck inside safeway, but you can't beat peet's coffee.

Very impressed with the full array of services and products that this Safeway has to offer.  The wheels locking on the carts in this store is somewhat cumbersome.  This store is particulary charitable in that there is some contribution towards non-profits.  Disappointed that this Safeway took over Whole Foods plans to join the Milpitas community.

This is dedicated to the middle-aged man at Check stand 2.

This was 4 months ago so I've completely forgotten his name and we talked for less than 5 minutes, but he was so sweet!

I was in a rush to make dinner one night so I just grabbed one of those little whole chicken things that were already cooked. Checkout man tells me, "I know you're in a hurry but just give me a minute" and he LEAVES the register.

Checkout man comes back with the Safeway newspaper and hands me the coupon, saving me $2! He even ripped out the coupon for me!

I wander in this Safeway about once a week to do my weekly grocery shopping since it's only about 3 minutes away from my house, and was there last night at around 11pm. I love that they're open so late at night!

This place is huge, and has a deli, a Starbucks, and my favorite part, a full bakery so I can buy my weekly desserts. Everything is always neat and easy to access, and most of the organics are placed right next to their non-organic counterparts.

I give this Safeway 5 stars, especially since they have awesome clerks who are always friendly and eager to help you check out. However last night there was literally only one carton of lactose-free fat free milk left in the entire milk cabinet, and I couldn't save the usual 50 cents by buying the Safeway brand since that last carton was Lactaid (yes I'm lactose-intolerant and picky about my fat-free milk!) However I must give them the benefit of the doubt. Maybe they were in the middle of restocking. After all it was 11pm on a Saturday night...when I should probably be out partying instead of buying milk, lol.

Just newly built about a few months ago, I was happy to see Safeway in my neighborhood.  The employees there have always been nice and offered great service.  I was there late night the day before Thanksgiving and almost everyone I ran into offered to help me find things off my shopping list.  Top notch service indeed!

Some of you might like the starbucks store inside.  I love the whole new setup they have.  You might pay a little more in terms of prices, but in my opinion it's well worth it.  I also believe they are 24/7 too.  What more can you ask for in a grocery store?

I like this Safeway - it's very open inside, and the produce section is just so cute.  I like the amount of organics they carry, though there could be more!  Only once have I encountered a line (I'm a weekday shopper), and it wasn't unreasonable.  In fact, after it first opened, the clerks would stand in front of their registers if they weren't busy asking if you were ready if you passed by with a full cart - I thought that was nice.

The parking lot is great - I don't feel like I'm in imminent danger of being run in to.

I'm not crazy about the whole 'Starbucks in the store' concept, but w/e.  It's really funny considering there's a Peet's next door.

I like to come here and do when I can't justify the drive to Whole Foods.

This Safe way is probably just your average Safe way. I mean it is a life saver since the only other grocery store in Milpitas was that worn down Albertsons. The only thing I have to complain about is the restocking, I'm really picky about what brands of food I buy and a must have for me is the spinach pasta but every time I do my trips they never have it in stock. Some with the muenster cheese,  they should also expand on the organic options, in the Fremont Safe way they have an aisle dedicated to just organic food. It's also really pricey, but whatever, I guess that's what the Safe way card is for!

I love Safeway! Actually, I love ALL Safeways from the various locations. Never once have I had a bad experience.

But today, in particular, blew me away... While I was grocery shopping, I happened to pass by this Wine Cellar Cooler that they had for SALE... Annnnnnnnnd.... It was the SAME one that I bought last night from Target. Same brand, same everything. The only difference was its price.... by freakin' $35!!!! So you know what I'm doin' later today... I'm going back to Target (I still luv Target though) and returning that one, so I can save me some $35. What a deal!

Not only is this Safeway remarkably clean with GREAT staff as well as providing GREAT produce...GREAT sandwiches.... but they even have some cool electrical items at terrific prices!!! I'm happy. =)

This is by far the nicest looking Safeway I've been to. I'm guessing with the newer Safeway's they're trying to compete with Whole Foods so they present a fresh and modern look. The produce here looks more vibrant and makes you want to buy that banana or apple. The place as a whole is much more eye-appealing than the dreary look of older Safeways. Even though I'll live within a mile of a Safeway's, I always go to this branch because I feel more comfortable purchasing food items here. Checkout workers are friendly and get my items scanned and bagged in an orderly manner. Grocery carts I've used have had all 4 wheels working rather than 3, with one either not rotating or angled perpendicular to the other 3, like I've experienced at other Safeway's. Sign up for a Club Card for some primo savings and you'll enjoy shopping here for sure. Hmm, looks like my fridge is empty. You know what that means!

I love safeway, esp the new ones.

This one is new.. well, not brand new, but about a year old. I was singing songs when I found out it was finally opening.

Anyways, all in all services have been great. The only thing I'd complain about this place: self-help hot food station not that great, often look kinda sad.  The sandwiches are excellent deal but you need to go during lunch where the staff knows what they are doing. BUT the tradeoff is that they are hecka busy at lunch.

Otherwise, the cashiers are nice, courteous and helpful. Oh yes, the florists were nice too. I had an emergency situation once, and the florist there went out of her way to get some white carnations for me.

oh.. did I say I love safeway?

I've noticed the new revamped plaza in Milpitas. It looks great compared to the old days. Safeway has the new yuppie look at I like it.

I came into Safeway last night trying to buy a San Jose Mercury newspaper. The line was incredibly long. I was in the express lane which was probably 15 items or less. I stood there for at least 15 minutes so the should rename the lane to 15 minutes or less... LOL...

As I got impatient standing in line, I just did a quick flip through the newspaper and didn't find any Black Friday ads. Since my main reason for buying the paper was for these ads, I just put the paper back in it's place and left the store.

Safeway is convenient. It's right across the street from my studio. So, after eating dinner, we needed to pick up a few items before heading home.

Maybe it was because it was late, but we noticed that many of the shelves in this particular store were empty. We usually shop at the Rivermark location that is open 24 hours (and I think this one is too) and the staff at Rivermark usually keep their shelves well stocked.
I also noticed that the prices at this Safeway were a bit higher than the prices that I pay at the Rivermark location. It also seems the selection at this store is limited compared to Rivermark.

It's great that Safeway has decided to carry more organic products. We were amused with the thunder sounds that warn produce shoppers that the sprinklers were about to douse the produce section with "rain."

This is the only Safeway that I exclusively shop at now.  I will drive across town from Santa Clara just to shop for groceries here.  I like the wide isles and they always have what I need in stock.  There are some weird people that shop here though.

This one time, this lady randomly approached me and I thought she was trying to hook up with me.  Instead, she was offering some shady job prospect and wanted to "network" with me.  What was peculiar was I was approached by another Indian gentleman at the Sports Authority at McCarthy Rance about half an hour earlier who was pulling the same schtick!

This other time, this guy is just standing there staring/watching me.  Creeeepy.  What, you like my shirt?  Then, another time, this lady is blatantly checking out what I buy.  She looks at everything that I touch.  WTF?  Creeepppy.  Another time, some dude is checking out some Foster Farms Chicken, but when I come over and grab my customary Safeway chicken breasts, he immediately comes over and does the same.  Can you say "attractive attention"???

But overall, I am pleased with my weekly grocery purchases from this store.  And I buy a lot.  They always ask me if I need help out cause I look like it with all that food in the cart.

So I've lived in Berkeley for the past three years, ample time to soak in the overruling hippie/hipster free speech organic vegan thrift anti-sweatshop anti-consumerist attitude. But I can't help it. The new Milpitas Safeway is one of the best supermarkets I've ever set foot in.

Some of the things this Safeway offers:
- organic options for fruits, vegetables, pasta/grains, etc.
- clean, extensive deli/sandwich/hot food section + seating area (I see a lot of people buying lunch here during the day)
- a pharmacy
- yet another Starbucks
- Thomas Kemper brand ginger ale (half the time I can't even find this at Andronico's)
- fresh sushi made daily, which actually doesn't taste half bad (e.g. spicy tuna roll with avocado and BROWN RICE)
- 24-hour access to ENDLESS GROCERY SHOPPING JOY (okay, so Milpitas is kind of a sterile suburban hole and a total loss when it comes to places to go/things to do, so I consider anything open past 10pm pretty much revolutionary)

My parents live about a minute away from Town Center, so I know the total ghost town dump this place used to be, with its ever-persistent Mervyn's (ew) and the former Cinema Savers theater that, during its gloriously brief lifetime, showed second-run movies for about three bucks a ticket ($1 on Tuesdays; HOT DAMN do I miss those days). And the arrival of a new supermarket in such close proximity to two other popular grocery spots? Ridiculous. But one look at the finished product -- freshly painted and flanked by palm trees, Jamba Juice, and Peet's Coffee & Tea (the latter two also newly installed) -- is enough to see the corporate spell behind this shining oasis in the desert that is Milpitas.

FANTASTIC Chocolate CAKES!!  The 5 stars only apply to their cakes in the Bakery dept.

Bought several sheet Chocolate cakes with FRESH Strawberries and Whipped Cream icing.  Everyone loved it and kept asking me where I bought it.  It was very chocolaty, very moist and rich, the strawberries tasted fresh and sweet even in late November and December, and the whipped cream icing was light.  Don't get buttercream icing, it changes the dynamics of the cake.

All Safeways are not equal though, since we've had other Safeway cakes that weren't as good as this one in Milpitas.  This was a good deal!  very comparable to higher priced bakeries for a chocolate cake w. fresh strawberries.

The only minus:  If you're ordering to pickup on the day of your event, give yourself 20 minutes for pickup.  You have to get in line to 'pick up' your cake,  wait for them to find yours, pack  it, then you have to wait in the regular line to PAY for it.  They don't allow you to pay at the bakery register.  Don't order your balloons here, it's expensive and they don't have a special price for buying by the dozen.   Get it from Party City instead for $7.99 per dozen.

Aside from being overpriced sometimes (I can find the same items for cheaper at the nearby save mart), this place is convenient when you need to go for a grocery run at 2 in the morning (ice cream for me, or when you have nothing else to do. It's clean, really big, and has a starbucks.
The fruit and veggies always seem fresh.  The candy is expensive.

The Town Center has definitely changed for the better with the entire plaza being rennovated and showcasing a dramatic facelift. It really looks like a place you would want to spend your day shopping at with places like Mervyn's, Staples, and all your grocery needs - Safeway. The biggest addition here to the Town Center is none other than the grocery market heavyweight, spawning a fresh new look and one that's impressively respected by me.

Right when you walk in you're introduced to nice lighting and a really clean market with fresh produce, an extensive deli stand, wine section, and a really big florist area. I visited here over the summer and it was a great way to avoid the heat - their AC system is one of the coolest. I liked just walking around and browsing for what's good. There's also a Starbucks located at the entrance which is nice for the avid coffee drinkers, but unfortunately I'm not one of them. The plaza also includes a Jamba Juice as well. All in all, this Safeway is definitely a really nice addition to the branches in the area. I've always been an Albertson follower because of the earlier days of Luckys (which has returned) but Safeway remains the premiere supermarket competitor.

I went to this NEW Safeway yesterday.   I met my mom there for Starbucks ( yeah they have a Starbucks in the front of the store)... gotta make sure you stay awake while grocery shopping.  It was soooo nice.  I used the bathroom of course (I always use the bathroom- gotta make sure it is clean) and it was clean- very clean.

The discounts were amazing- my original balance was $175.22 and after all the discounts were taken off it was $134.28!  This would have been the same at any other store but the biggest difference was that a lot of their meat was on sale!

I spend so much money buying meat that I was so happy to see all of the clearance meat.  They have ground lamb, lean ribs, breakfast sausage, ground beef and chicken.  They were priced from 30 % off to 50 % off!

the store was the same as any other new grocery store but the meat prices were so outta this world I had to yelp it to the world.

service= B Only because there was a broken door to the milk and it had a sign not to use it and to ask for help- I couldn't find anyone :0(

And one more thing that blew my mind- they had smoke turkey legs (used for greens and green beans instead of hamhocks- it's a black thing...)  but this is only 1 of 3 stores that have this :0)

Ahhh... The first three star review....

I live in the 'burbs of Sacramento for school, I'm used to Safeways like this, clean, new, serving up already prepared food. Milpitas is my hometown and within its tiny confined square miles, its really great to have a new grocery store thats 24 hours.

They get three stars because...

You can't buy a single cookie in the bakery, usually you can pick one up like a donut, but no, you'd have to buy a whole pack if you wanted fresh baked cookies here. This is a real disappointment to the man, since he loves those Safeway cookies.

And because I bought limes at 2 for $1 here, and navel oranges for $1.99 a pound. When I went shopping in Sac, the limes were 5 for $1 and navel oranges were $1.49 a pound.

Cost of living increase maybe? Probably, either way I will be shopping here even though I know its costs a little more than what I'm used to.

ALL THEY NEED TO DO IS SELL INDIVIDUAL COOKIES!!! Instant four star upgrade, I swear.

I have to give the deli at Safeway 5 stars for the incredible value.   You get a huge sandwich, loaded with fillings for 5 bucks!   And they usually don't  (or forget to) charge for the extras like bacon, avacado, extra cheese, extra meat etc.   The Oaxacan is really good with loads of pulled pork.    I usually go with my standard salami and turkey with avacado and cheese.    Great Value!    The one donside is that they move very slowly and it can get frustrating standing in that line.   BUt when compared to other sandwich places like eriks, where get a small sandwich for 6-8 bucks, Safeway is worth dealing with the slow staff.

After one particularly long and hectic study session, I found myself roaming the aisles at this new Safeway.  The service workers were particularly friendly at this location; the florist quickly asked me if I needed help with anything as I browsed her dept and the butcher was eager to point out the best marinades when I picked up a salmon filet for the evening.  Their marketing has really stepped up its game by clustering related products to make you buy more things (now!).  Not a great thing, but typical of businesses.  When I was here on Th evening, there was hardly any people which is great compared to the population explosion that is the Rivermark Safeway.  I doubt that will last long, though...

This is my new favorite grocery store (sorry Nob Hill)!  The service is fabulous, and it's so organized and clean in there!

If you open a Safeway Club Card now you can get 10% off all your purchases for the next 2 months.  Even on alcohol!

Oh, and I like the dimmer spotlighting in the alcohol section, because I'm not a big fan of flourescent lights.

Wow, a nice new clean super market in Milpitas. I am ecstatic! I grew up in Santa Clara so I was used to a super clean 24 hour Safeway. No other Safeway compared to my old one but I guess things have changed!

My boyfriend lives on the edge of Milpitas and San Jose so when we went grocery shopping, I was always like...what the hellll, why are all these places so dirty!?!?!

But this Safeway is even nicer than my old Santa Clara one! It's big and clean and has many amenities that I haven't seen in any other chain super market. Ohh and this one carries tons of organic food too! Woohoo, now I can look forward to grocery shopping once again!

i was so sad when I learned that I missed the grand opening of Safeway in Milpitas. But that sadness faded when I stepped inside. It's beautiful! The produce section is dreamy. They have Le Creuset, too! Safeway makes Town Center fun again. and the fun goes on 24 hours a day! weeee!!!

Update: Service can be slow at the registers especially after hours. Just understand it's a new store and they have a few bugs to work out still. Also, keep in mind that if you go there late at night, there won't be as many employees to help you. Hopefully when you go, you won't be in hurry like the jerk who made a huge fuss standing in line AFTER MIDNIGHT and asked for a manager cause there were only 2 clerks. GEEEEESH. My suggestion to Safeway would be to install those automated checkstands. That would be ever so helpful.

This place was off-the-hook crazy at its grand opening this past weekend. Definately the nicest supermarket in Milpitas, but I still prefer the Rivermark Safeway to this one. Safeway's in general are pricier sounding than Savemart or Albertson's, but they have a lot of buy one get one free sales that evens the prices out.

Safeway has some quality food. I haven't disliked anything I've gotten under the Safeway Select brand label. Try mixing their Peach-Pineapple salsa into your taco meat for a quick and tastey taco night.

Oh, and I'm not sure whether it was a specific offering for the store's grand opening, or if this is something that they always do, but did you know that you can bring your meat selection and they will season and marinade it for you free of charge??? I have to try this.

Okay, the food chain is clean since its brand new and there's a huge selection, but the service sucks!!!  Why are all the employees rude and in a bad mood. I been there 4 times and each time I had the same experience. I even heard employees using profanity and disregarding the fact that they are at work or there might be kids  around. I will give it 2 stars, just because its clean.

i love the overall concept design of the newer safeways being erected within the past year... theyre LOVELY... however, it was my first time at this particular location and im assuming since its BRAND-SPANKIN' NEW, its still a little understaffed... because there werent that many checkers when i walked in and there were pretty long lines for a weekday...

i love the in store florist department in all the stores though.  it just makes for such a prettier sight for the eyes... bravo to the chain store developer that came up with that idea.

unfortunately, i was shopping for a bbq - and a 12 pack of heiniken costed me $16 after the safeway clubcard discount here... HOLY MOTHER OF WHAT?!  that is absurd!  i coulda got a 24 pack for somewhere around that neighborhood of pricing at food for less in SJ... *sigh*  i guess thats what you get for having a bougie chain supermarket... and all the organic stands and regular produce stands dont look too different... i accidentally took an "organic lemon" when i was on a budget and didnt realize it until i got to the register...

"WHAT THE?!  $2 FOR A FRIGGIN' LEMON?!" - dammit, i was in a rush, so i just paid for the damned lemon... i know youre not trying to segregate the different classes of people that may pay more or less for food by mixing in the organic food with joe schmoe produce, BUT YOURE CONFUSING MY WALLET, DAMMIT... a lemon's a fucking lemon... sheesh.

Grand openings of supermarket + free samples = stampedes of people. Troof.

This is totally the nicest (and bourgiest) supermarket in Milpitas.  Definitely a high roller supermarket. Today was their grand opening and it was completely packed with people filling every nook and cranny of the glorious home of the new Milpitas Safeway.  It's located in the newly re-modeled (yet still under construction) Milpitas Town Center, right next to Staples.  I haven't shopped at Safeway since way back when I was little growing up in Daly City, but damn, this Safeway is top notch and huge.  I wanted to buy every baked good in sight. Even their cakes looked mouth watering. They seem to have everything from a bakery, to a pretty nice looking deli, and a semi-food court with chairs and tables near the front entrance. There's even a starbucks inside (as if we don't have enough already, especially with one in the same plaza).  The one weird thing is how dimly lit it is. The wine section is most particularly dark.  I'm not sure if this is meant for romantic shopping or something, but I guess people could try pickup lines at this supermarket if they're into that kind of thing.

With all the coupons they've been sending us, I grabbed a few items but put them back when I saw how incredibly long the lines were.  I'll try to come back some other day when the crowd finally dies down. Big crowds kind of intimidate me.  But alas, my heart still goes out to Savemart. I'm a devoted customer.
