just wasted 2 hours at Safeway with nothing to show for it! I had a long list (meals planned), a full cart (carefully price checking always), but the register (all the registers) weren't working properly. This is the 2nd time in 2 mos (note to self: don't shop at midnight). After 6 computer reboots and debit-card-sliding, while blankly watching at this dull, muscular young man cashier for 50 minutes, I had enough. The 'manager' Cathy apologized but she openly asked her co-horts "What can I do? I just want to go home." My sorbet had melted. I kept my cool and said calmly "I'm walkin', this isn't worth my time".....they didn't even say sorry! I left a shopping cart w/ bagged items that totaled $213...and seriously, the sorbet "HAD" melted and there were a number of other items from the frozen food section.

Love their clearance department in the back of the store between the eggs, milk, and juices. Today they had books including cook books, and kids books. Dove bars!!! YUM! Bubble Yum.. which takes me back to childhood.. spices, and pet food.

Pharmacy is quick but the clerks are super rude!! A few days ago a tall, blonde woman in her late 30s/ early 40's named Alysia or Alyssa (?????) who was so incredibly rude for a simple prescription pick up. She seemed annoyed that she was having to help me, having made no eye contact with me and at one point rolling her eyes. Apparently she hated her life and /or job and that's why she was being a total b*tch, but sorry that's your job!! On a good note, the actual pharmacists are always very nice and helpful!!
Also, I have always had great experiences in all the other areas of safeway, it is definitely my favorite place to shop! -

Safeway here is ok. Stay away from the BATHROOMS. I am a clean freak and there was crap (toilet paper etc) all over the floors and the floors were dirty and wet... YUCK! I will never go to this bathroom again!!!

This is where I now shop the essentials for my pantry because it's the closest from our home. I like their Eating Right brands, from their turkey bacon, their salads, and most especially their pancake mix. I am happy with their meat deals and how the butchers help you out when you have questions about the cuts. We once availed of their steak rubs and boy, did we get a lot of compliments when we threw a grill party.
The thing I noticed about this Safeway though is that they do not truly have an "express lane". Never mind that they do not have a couple of self-checkouts like many leading groceries have nowadays. Their express lanes become clogged up and often, too. That can really be annoying for shoppers who want to check out just a single item. I really hope management becomes sensitive about this issue. -

hehe I have seen the wannabe gangster guy others mention, he is a joke. all the ladies tend to sigh when you ask them how they are doing at the register. That said, they have a decent bakery (unless the one lady is there alone then it seems like everything has jalapenos and cheese on it).
Gets 3 stars from the nice kid at the bakery (dark hair with sideburns) who seems to really care and do a good job helping out. He deserves a promotion or something, always has a good attitude, hustles, and makes you feel ok about spending your money. -

Nice store,friendly employees (except for one of the managers who thinks he is a gangster!! saggy pants ,tattoos,WTF?) looks like he should be in East LA, must be on drugs!! .When I see him I just laugh and wonder what Safeway was thinking,should keep this banger out of the public's eye site LOL!!!

I'm a huge fan of Safeway, particularly the Safeway Deli. However, this particular safeway deli in Turlock has quite a character working who is devoted to making sure your sandwich takes at least 30 minutes to create. She'll tell great jokes at your expense, mutter curse words under her breath, roast the hell out of you, and even grab the phone while your talking to a friend and tell him you need to make better friends (no joke this actually happened)- sure it's a great time, but seriously - I don't go to a deli for comedy ... I'd like to grab my delicious sandwich and bounce.

Being completely honest, I will only go to this Safeway if I am in a bind and I'm in the area (I have family and friends in Turlock). About a week ago, I went in to grab a couple things and the checker in the express lane was super rude. No hello, nothing. The only words out of his mouth were complaints to another checker that he wants another job (Yes, I'm serious) and the total for my purchase. Not impressed at all, what so ever. I gave it 2 stars because on more than one visit I have felt very blah about this place, then this last visit topped them off.

Safeway is pretty far away from my usual haunts, so I'd only been here a couple times. But I came up to visit this weekend for father's day after a couple of years, and was really impressed--it's awesome! It even has a little Starbucks, a deli, and a huge produce section, but with much more reasonable prices than Raley's (my normal grocery store when I'm in town). Despite it's awesomeness, it was pretty empty--maybe it's a bit out of the way for everyone else too.

Safeway is an ok store. Usually pretty clean (except for the toilet, there is always graffiti or a busted toilet) te selection in the deli and other parts o the store are pretty good. The people that work in the deli are also very friendly. There aren't too many people that shop at Safeway here in town because it is kinda out of the way but its the only one in Turlock that stays open all night. This Safeway even has a Starbucks and a cafe seating area which is unique to this area.
