These movers were highly recommended by my realtor Eric at Penrose Realty.
Chris and his team made the move from my place and my boyfriend's place to our new apartment in under 2 hours! They were on time, quick, very professional and extremely reasonable with their rates.
I highly recommend them to anyone who's moving. It made the moving experience a whole lot easier. -

Had known that hiring movers was so affordable, I wouldn't have waiting until my 10th move, which happened to be across state lines. Think of all those pizzas, beers, and friendships we could have saved.
Seriously, folks - I did my research and ultimately went with Safe Responsible Movers because of their location near my apartment and the final quote. They did not disappoint. Chris is super nice and his team of musicians by night/moving guys by day seem slight but are deceptively strong.
A two story, 2 bed, 2 bath, 3 and 4th floor walk up brownstone (with very narrow stair) to our new house in Providence cost a grand total of, wait for it...only $1000, with lunch on us and tip you're looking at a very reasonable amount. What I love about these guys is they don't nickel and dime you with extra costs for tape and wrapping supplies for your Van Gogh's, and travel is done at a flat rate. They will gladly set everything up in its appointed rooms or leave for you to sort out if you're running against a time clock.
The one weak link and the reason for a 4* review, is FOLLOW UP. Turn around time from the other companies was within 24 hours and I knew they wanted my business. I had to repeatedly tell SRM that we wanted a quote from them. Initially I had written them off because I hadn't heard from them and was worried this would be emblematic of moving day. Thank goodness it was not and we shall sign off as very happy customers. -

To keep it short and brief, we were seeking a safe & efficient moving team and I'm so glad yelp led me to these guys. Seriously, don't use anyone else.
The team of three moved our 2 bedroom condo apt in the city to the South Shore in a 21 foot van in the rain today while asking questions as needed, taking initiative when warranted, and remaining on task throughout.
On the day of moving I dreaded most, this team made moving a smooth & seamless process and I'll recommend them to all my friends and family.
Thanks again guys!! (we'll move the granite rock in the driveway soon...) -

These guys are a machine. They arrived on time and were extremely friendly, cheerful and professional. They wrapped everything up, brought their own tools, shrink wrap, etc. and loaded the truck up in 30 minutes. Yeah I just said that. 30 minutes. The entire move from Burlington to South Boston, arrival to departure took less than 2 hours. They unloaded everything, unwrapped and arranged the furniture, and man do they move quick. I will recommend these guys to everyone I know. Worth every penny.

These guys were the bomb. Showed up on time, were affordable, and worked quickly, efficiently, safely, and responsibly ;)
In two hours they: moved me out of my place in JP and into my new place in Cambridge. Somehow were able to get all my crap into my tiny, tiny new place (they took the door off the hinges). Set up my bed, and moved my shelf, desk, and several boxes into my 2nd floor bedroom accessible only by tiny, awkward stairwell. Moved my surplus stuff into the basement.
And they let me ride with them in their truck to the new house and we had some fun conversation on the drive up. Plus they were nice and let me do stuff like sweep/mop my room before they moved furniture in, and wrapped my bed in plastic so it wouldn't get dirty.
I'm a pretty frugal asshole, but it was totally worth it to hire them. E-mail them to set stuff up.
p.s.-it's hard to find prices for them online since they don't have a website, there is one page I found but can't seem to find again, but I paid $200 + $40 tip (always tip folks!) for 2 hrs (the minimum), 2 guys, and a 16 ft truck. -

Great beyond belief!
When my husband and I moved from the fenway to the leather district I turned to Yelp for help in finding a moving company. After reading the reviews for Safe Responsible Movers I knew they were the right people for the job. I had high expectations and was worried about everything going smoothly with so many balls up in the air. Turns out, I need not have worried at all.
Chris and his team were everything I hoped for and more. They were on time, hard working, respectful, intelligent and above all, friendly! There wasn't a single thing damaged during the move and they even stuck around to help us arrange furniture when it was all moved in. If I had designed my ideal movers, they wouldn't have been nearly as good as what I got from Chris and his team. They even secured the moving permits for us!!
They are excatly what the name states - safe, responsible movers - and so much more! -

I moved yesterday with the help of Safe Responsible Movers and couldn't wait to provide them with positive feedback as soon as I received internet access. There were several reasons why I was extremely happy with their services but here are a few examples:
1) They arrived on time and in fact earlier than scheduled which fit into my plans for the day.
2) They came equipped and with tools to dismantle the bed frame and covered the TV's and valuables with cloth wrapping and tape.
3) I did a poor job packing glass wear and anticipated a few breaking, hopefully giving me an excuse to finally get matching sets, but they realized this and willingly put these containers on their laps in the front seats!
4) I had a grill that would not fit into the apartment and had not yet sold and they graciously allowed and helped me drop it off at a neighboring friends' home, without a fee.
5) When I tried to help, they politely told me, "Don't hurt yourself, this is why you hired movers".
6) They finished in the estimated time allotted even with a few hesitant re-positions of the couch, based on my part.
In summary, they were friendly, reliable, and a bargain. I would highly recommend them to friends and family as well as the yelp community. -

They were great! My lost iPod showed up and they could have easily pocketed it, but they didn't - very honest. They were fast, polite and friendly and made the whole process very painless. Highly recommended. Also very affordable!

So I've moved a few times and it seems like the experience has always gotten worse and worse. Chris and team completely changed that trend! They showed up right on time for the move to Somerville. I had a 2 bedroom (queen bed, dresser, chest, and night stands), office, dining room, and living room with a flat screen TV to move. They brought a truck with plenty of space and carefully wrapped up everything. The few times I helped they were very thankful.
Overall this was the perfect moving experience. They're great guys, very focused on the job, and have completely changed my mind when it comes to movers. If I ever find myself needing to move again I'll definitely be using Chris and team again. Do yourself a favor and don't look any further than these guys. -

My husband's coworker recommended Safe Responsible Movers. They moved us on December 2, 2011. They were great! Three men arrived on time. They were safe, careful, courteous, and nice. They moved us from a 1 bed to a 2 bed apartment in about 2.5 hours and cost $396. Nothing broken - everything arrived completely intact. We gave tips to the movers but overall it cost less than expected. We were really pleased with this moving company! Thanks!! I would definitely recommend them to others.

I moved units within my building, which is a fairy easy move. However, I have some bigger pieces of expensive, heavy furniture that my friends and I are definitely not strong enough to move safely. Also, a lot of the pieces required un-assembling to move. I hired these guys for $50/hr plus a $25 travel fee (cheap!). Chris was really quick to respond over email and schedule me (love, since I hate phones).
Because of the blizzard, their moving schedule got a little messed up and they moved me back later in the day (asking me for permission first). When they finally got here, I have to admit that I got a bit worried because they were 2 fairly skinny hipsterish-looking guys with 2 tiny dollies. However, once in my apartment, they took off running. (I even texted my mom after 20 minutes and said, "whoa! the movers are speed demons!")
They finished the entire move quickly and easily, and even humored me when I had no idea where to put the furniture. I asked them to move things around and their opinions on the various arrangements- they didn't seem to mind at all. They were incredibly friendly, incredibly efficient, and incredibly strong. They were optimistic the whole time and I never heard them complain once. They were also quite thoughtful- at one point, Chris asked the other guy to help him unload something a certain way and actually said, "I don't want to scratch the floor". Overall, they impressed me so much that I gave them a bigger tip than I had planned.
Next time I move apartments, I am definitely calling these guys. Not only are they a great price and super friendly, but they were the most efficient movers I've ever seen. -

This was the first time I had ever used movers. My friends would likely disown me if I put them through another move. Chris and Aaron were the best movers I could have asked for.
They had to push my move to later in the day to accommodate the move that had been postponed on a previous day due to the snow. However, moving two people in one day didn't seem to slow them down at all! They got me out of my first place within 45 minutes. I will definitely use these guys again. They were an absolute pleasure. -

1- They came (on time)...
2- They carried (a 1.5 bedroom apartment)...
3- They traveled (from Allston to Shrewsbury)...
4- They carried again... (to the third floor via stairs)...
All it took was... 4 hours.
That was my best moving experience. I didn't even flinched a finger. I was calculating my move to be somewhere around $600 but with these guys all it cost was $400 (with the tip). They were fast, they were through and they were nice on the stuff that they carried. They even gave me 20 mins free because they broke a small thing which wasn't really much of a deal. Next move - I will definitely call them. -

I created a yelp account just to write this review - that's how great Safe Responsible Movers are. Communication was easy, they were prompt, and my husband and I were blown away by how quickly, safely, and cheerfully they moved us from a West End high rise to a 3rd floor walk-up in Dorchester. We planned to spend several hours with these 3 guys but it took less than 2.5! Rates were extremely reasonable too. Definitely use these guys without reservation- they are awesome.

these guys are awesome.
i recently moved and chose them based on the yelp reviews. they showed up on time, were super fast but very careful, and came in $50 cheaper than they had originally quoted me, costing only $225!. AND they had sent an extra mover but didn't charge any extra. i was asked where i wanted each item to be placed, what was fragile, and if there was anything else they could do for me before they left. i will continue to use them for every move. -

I am in many ways like a nomad and this is my 4th move this year. But none of my previous moves could even come come close to this move in terms how smooth it all went - BIG Thanks to Safe Responsible Movers. Extremely Professional service. If you are contemplating on getting a U-Haul and asking around for help, then please consider these guys, they are economical, fast and save a lot of your time !!

Chris and Aaron are everything their company name says and more - safe, responsible, dependable, and fast!
They were pretty busy during the time when I was planning to move (October), getting in contact with them was kind of difficult (nevertheless Chris is super courteous and totally accommodating in email and on phone). I was worried if they'd even come...Alas, I was worrying for nothing! They came on-time, moved things swiftly, took no breaks. My attempt to help was probably more a hindrance than anything useful. They were careful too, brought wrapping tape where needed. The feat that would have taken me 3~5 days by myself, they did it door-to-door in under 4 hours. I was just so thankful they made apartment moving a VIP experience, then they went one step beyond and asked if I wanted to re-arrange any furniture in the new place when they finished with unloading from the truck. On top of this, they were very fair with the charge: it was 3 hours 45 mins total time, so they wanted only 3.75 times the hourly rate..."nope nope not 4 hours, just 3 hours and 45 minutes".....seriously? I paid them almost double in the end just because they were so nice.
Cannot say enough good things about them. I just hope they take care of their backs so I may be lucky enough to have them help me again if I move in the future! -

These guys were pretty fun to hang out with and even taught me (potentially false) facts about pizza. Plus, you braved the years-old soda from the storage unit vending machine...and for that, you'd earn an extra star if they had one on Yelp.
Seriously, though--these guys know their stuff. They removed everything so quickly, and they didn't complain as they hiked it all the way to the very end of the storage unit, into a closet so cramped that Harry Potter's angry aunt wouldn't have put him in there. Their rates were unbeatable, and they even let me hitch a ride in their truck. I'd *highly* recommend them for any move. -

I recently helped a friend move from Boston to the Berkshires and she had hired Safe Responsible Movers for the big stuff. They were fast, inexpensive, super nice, flexible, never complained, AND when they took a 15 minute break, they didn't charge my friend for it! Seriously? How many other companies would have not said anything at all. They put together her bed and asked if there was anything else they could do for her.
Did I mention fast? Did I mention inexpensive? I know I did, but it bears repeating.
When I move, they will be the only guys I call...well worth every penny! -

Movers/truck for cross-town move on busiest moving day of the year: $525
Peace of mind knowing that I was in excellent hands with movers that were hard workers, showed up on time, did not overcharge or add on extra costs, not shady in the least, understood my wishes and followed through on them without hesitation, and were intelligent, nice guys: PRICELESS.
Safe Responsible Movers picked a perfect name for their company, because that is absolutely what they are. They took my job request with less than a week's worth of notice and were able to fulfill my request even on the craziest moving weekend possible (Labor Day weekend.) They provided outstanding service at a very reasonable rate, and at no point did I feel that my belongings were in anything but good hands.
I never thought I'd put a move at the top of my list as far as good experiences go, but Safe Responsible Movers surpassed my expectations and then some. If you are surrounded in boxes and have the daunting task of having to find a new home for them (and for you!), I think you now know what to do next...... -

Having moved three times in the last few years, I've had a few experiences with moving company's - all good. But this time around, I hired Safe and Responsible Movers because they had a better hourly rate than others were quoting me.
Two weeks prior to my move date, I spoke to Chris over email. He answered all my questions very promptly and assured me that they could handle anything on the job.
The day of the move, James and Aaron, my movers came right on time. They carefully padded my big pieces like my armoir and flat screen tv and did an awesome job disassembling and later reassembling my bed and chunky wood dining table. I had plenty of totes to boot and they took care of that too.
What impressed me even more was that, James gave me a call back hours after the move to let me know that I had overpaid by $60. I must have counted incorrectly while thanking them profusely for a job well done. James came back the next day and returned the money. Nice! How cool is that?
Hire this company for your next move. They truly live up to their name! -

I was in a tough spot questionably closing on a home, and ended up moving last minute. I got several quotes from other moving companies that seemed bit much for a short move (Milton to Dudley Square)
Safe Responsible movers delicately moved my victrola, and the rest of my antiques with no problems.
Chris was on time for the move, everything went well, and didn't hurt my bank account too much. Highly recomended! -

I just moved into my new house on June 27th. I was a panicky first time home buyer. I had nightmares about all things going wrong (which some did) but thankfully not the move. I emailed Chris, sometime in May to schedule for an appointment. Not only were they the cheapest, they also had the best reviews. It was a no brainer. I kept emailing Chris to make sure they were still on, and he very patiently responded each time.
On the day of the move, they were supposed to be there at 9am, I was up, ready and anxiously waiting. Chris and Dan, showed up at 8.59am and by 9.17 (I know, coz I looked) my bedroom was all loaded in the truck. They were gentle with the things that needed care and asked questions when in doubt.
Somethings in my basement were in the wrong area, Dan gladly moved it all to the otherside, when I asked. And by 12.30 they were all done - dismantling furniture, loading van, driving to new house, unloading and putting furniture back together.
I highly recommend them, moving is stressful, hire "SAFE, RESPONSIBLE MOVERS" and make it a breeze. -

I move. A lot. Really. A lot. Like, I have lived in Boston for less than two years and I have moved four times. And I am moving again.
Counting this coming move, I have used Safe Responsible Movers three times. If I had known about them for the first two moves, I would have used them then too.
The first time they moved me, it was approximately one zillion degrees on the third floor apartment I was leaving and half a zillion degrees outside. They never even took a rest. The move was super efficient and fast. So fast and efficient that when they finished and realized there was still another hour left of their required two hour payment, one of the guys asked if I needed anything done around the house. Which was so sweet.
Seriously, these guys are great. I recommend them to anyone moving.
And best of all, 2 men and a 16 foot truck only costs $75/hour (with a $50 travel fee.) -

I found Chris and his gang on Yelp and decided to give them a try. He was very prompt in returning my emails and confirming a slot for our moving day. He and his gang arrived a little late on the day of the move, but he called to let me know. Although they smelled like they had just rolled out of a bar before July 2004 (sweat, alcohol AND smoke radiating from every pore), they were an incredibly responsible, friendly bunch. When our bike wouldn't fit in the back of the trunk, Chris actually volunteered to ride the bike to our new place! I would definitely recommend them and use them again. Additionally, their prices were much lower than any other company I investigated.

This was my first experience hiring movers and I could not have been more thrilled with my choice. They were on time, super proffesional, handled my belongings beautifully, and had us moved from our 2 bedroom, 3rd floor apt in Quincy to our new home in Braintree in under 4 hours. Not to mention they were really afforddable! Even my fiancee who initially didnt want us to get movers was like "this was the best idea ever" because they did such a great job and we didn't break the bank. I would definitely reccomend them to anyone and will certainly be using them again next time I move!

I moved this past weekend and these guys were fantastic! I had a short move - only from the Seaport District to Beacon Hill - but these guys were fast and efficient. I have a 2 BR apartment, and the whole move took less than four hours. The guys are courteous, professional, and reasonably priced. I am already recommending them to friends who intend on moving later in the summer. Well worth the money!

I would like to echo all of the reviews previously posted here as once again Yelpers did not let me down. The Safe Responsible Movers team were professional, efficient, and exceeded my high expectations. They took care of all of the details such as protecting my furniture with blankets and shrink wrap and when faced with an un-expected issue, they performed as a team to solve it. My sofa could not be maneuvered through a tight right-hand turn into my living room despite every effort. They refused to give up and rather than getting frustrated with the situation decided to hoist the sofa with straps through my 3rd floor window!! Wow - I was very impressed and and can't thank them enough for all of their hard work. I would reccommend them to any and all of my friends.

I've now used Safe Responsible Movers twice, and couldn't be happier. I'll never move myself again!
This most recent move was from a 3rd floor walk-up in JP to a 4th floor walk-up in the North End. The whole move took under 3 hours, and they were awesome and honest enough to actually only bill me for 2 hrs and 45 minutes. Who does that?!?
Also, when things got tricky, like my full sized boxspring not fitting up the stairs, ingenuity kicked in! "Let's use the fire escape!" Amazingly my boxspring was carried up 3 flights of fire escape stairs and into my kitchen window, which was skillfully removed from the frame.
Safe Responsible Movers should really be called, Safe Responsible Most-Things-Relating-to-Moving Movers, because they also helped me break down and put together my bed and my dresser/mirror combo. Plus they let me ride in the truck with my cat, and thoroughly entertained us both.
In case you haven't picked up what I'm putting down, I highly recommend SRM. Use them. They're awesome. -

They were courteous, but slow. Two guys came by; one was the owner, the other one looked like a helper. The owner were more serious and hard working, but the other one was totally slacking. Eventually I was really mad to pay for this guy.
I had two friends of mine came over, initially just to look over the moving and help me cleaning the apartment. But we ended up doing a lot of carrying stuffs when we found it's taking them forever. It was a local move (less than 5 miles driving), and a studio load. While my friends were carrying heavy stuffs, the slacker was spending time ripping off plastic wrap from the furniture.
We sent them home after 3 hours and did all the remaining work ourselves (moving stuffs from downstairs to the apartment). -

Here's the one con, which they are up-front about. No insurance, but that saves you a significant amount of money and I decided that good movers are good movers and chances are your stuff, during an in-state move, is going to be fine. Were they? Yes. Were the previous reviews on Yelp accurate? Absolutely.
Here's what I loved right off the bat. I was one of the many people last year who experienced a multitude of real estate debacles and my move schedule got screwed up many times. Each time, Chris was 100% cool with it and just kept saying "We're used to this. It's normal." So moving day finally comes and I take one look at Chris, Aaron and Matt and immediately say "These guys are in a band and do this for their day job", which I loved, because I have a fair amount of indie rocker friends and love them all. Something about them that just says good people. That was a huge relief for me and my instinct was correct. They couldn't have been any nicer, more responsible and shown more hustle, especially living in a building that was a city block long where the freight elevator was on the opposite end from my condo. Every once in a while I got to get a glimpse of Aaron's mad truck packing skills, which are savant-like. On top of it their general sense of humor and laid back personas really helped me, and my family, during an incredibly stressful day.
We also took them up on the very reasonably priced overnight hold fee, which made the move that much easier. Naturally, during the move-in day, the buyers of our condo had to move the closing out a good five hours or so, but it didn't effect the guys one bit and when they showed up at the new house they unloaded in no time...in the middle of a snow squall to boot.
If you're looking for movers and like helping out the indie upstarts then look no further. You'll be glad you made this call. -

These guys were terrific. They communicated promptly via email and provided all of the essential information. When they were stuck in traffic on the way to our place, they called ahead and let us know of the delay.
As for the move itself, they were extraordinarily efficient yet also careful and respectful of our belongings. They moved all of our stuff incredibly quickly and I never saw them take a break or even slow down. They moved our entire 1 bedroom apartment in only 2.25 hours including the 15 minute drive between our places. The charge was so reasonable that I felt bad paying them the billed total - we tried to supplement with generous tips.
I worked 2 summers for a reputable moving company and I think that these guys did a faster, better, job than any outfit I have ever seen. I can only sing their praises. Be generous with your tips - these guys work so hard! -

I recently used safe Responsible Movers to move my one-bedroom apartment in the South End to the North End, and I have to say, they did a great job! I was a little nervous when I hired them because their rates are so much lower than all the other movers I looked at (you get what you pay for and all that) but I saw the other positive reviews on Yelp so I said, Why not?
I was definitely not disappointed! Chris and his crew (sorry guys, can't for the life of me remember you names) showed up on time and got straight to work. They lifted my heavy boxes like they were empty, carefully wrapped up my flat screen TV, and even pointed out things that I had forgotten I needed to take. Then even let me (and my cat) ride in the truck with them so I wouldn't have to take a taxi and regaled me with a little bit of North End history on the way!
When we got to my new place, they unloaded just as efficiently. The apartment is on the 4th floor and I worried all those stairs, and the twisting, narrow staircase might prove troublesome, but it didn't even slow them down. They brought everything up very quickly, even my heavy pull-out couch, and next thing I knew, we were done! The whole ordeal took only 2 hours from start to finish with three guys and one truck. And I ended up paying less in total than some other moving companies charged per hour! I would definitely recommend these guys! They're awesome!
