When I planned my first trip to California, I decided I wanted to stay in a Motel, which I haven't done in decades. http://Hotels.com gave me the Safari Inn as a choice, and I decided to go with the Cheese.

Let me tell you, this Motel is GREAT!. The decor is cheesy but not gross, it's Kitsch  at it's best. The beds were comfy and clean. The bathroom was spotless and HUUUUUGE. You could dance in it, lol!
Lots of towels, too.
The pool is great, heated and they have  sundeck. I had a room that was right outside the pool so I woke every morning to a nice swim and then a 10 foot walk back to my room.

The area is quiet and about a $20 cab ride to Hollywood Blvd and the touristy area.
There is a CVS right down the block which saved me the pain of packing liquids. I just trotted over there and bought all my travel sizes the day I arrived and tossed them the day I left.
There's a 7/11 and McDonald's right there too.
If you go for a walk you will pass NBC studios and TONS of cute little shops.
The least noisy motel I have ever been in.  I slept like a baby.

They offer FREE shuttle service to and from the Bob Hope airport, which is about a 10 minute drive.

Book it through http://Hotels.com and you'll save a ton of dough, but they require a $100 deposit upon check in with prepaid rooms, but that was promptly refunded.

The staff is nice, perhaps a bit over worked and underpaid, but they were helpful. They also printed my boarding pass for me.

I didn't use the WIfi, so I can't rate it.  They COULD use more cable stations and get HD TVs, they had analog TVs, but that was a minor thing. I wish they had a business center but ah well.

I will be returning to the Safari when I go back to Cali!

Man, the smell....oh the horrible smell

I chose the Safari Inn because it is close to the Burbank airport and seems to have good reviews. Yelpers, you let me down big time. The room I had literally smells like dirty socks and farts. I think someone mentioned a men's locker room, but I've been in men's locker rooms and this is much much worse.

For starters, I couldn't decide if the smell came from the carpets or from the beds, so I slept very poorly. I tried running the air conditioning the entire day, but the smell remained. The worst is when you wake up in the morning and think "Hey, it doesn't smell so bad now" and only to realize it's because your nose has gotten used to it, and whatever odor-causing bacteria is now in your lungs, multiplying by the hundreds.

All in all, I would not recommend this place until they find the source of the odor and Clorox the living hell out of the rooms.

I just have to say- we stayed here for our Honeymoon and we loved it. the style and atmosphere was great, and the reception and customer service was right on. Everyone was nice. the location is great as it is within reach of a dozen of places to eat and is close to Hollywood and Universal, we had no trouble at all getting to where we had to go. We love Burbank now! Also, the continental breakfast may have not been truly continental- but it was there and free and the Orange Juice was just love in my mouth. Come on! we are from NYC, we don't normally get some fresh squeezed Orange juice here without having to pay a fortune. We can't wait to go back and wish we can just live there. Our room was great too. we really liked the decor and it was clean.

On a recent trip to SoCal, I was looking for a place to stay that was reasonably priced (ok, more like cheaply priced).  I found Safari Inn on http://Tripadvisor.com and it received pretty solid reviews.  Now first off, it's a damn motel so I knew what I was going to get.  This ain't the 4 Seasons for sure!

My buddy saw the below reviews before we left and told me about them.  To my surprise they weren't what the TripAdvisor reviews were saying.  Bracing for the worse we end up rolling into the Safari Inn.  Yeah it's in a pretty quiet area but I was pleasantly surprised for what I got for around 125 a night.  There was free outdoor parking and it was plentiful.  The room was the caliber of a Days Inn or another lower rent chain motel.  Now I don't know what your standards are but this place had everything we needed and looked clean.  Even the bathroom looked good and that is usually the spot that is most neglected at cheaper spots.

Overall the place is pretty small and has about 40 rooms in the complex.  There is also a swimming pool here but it's pretty damn small. Good for jumping in and splashing water around, that's what i did!

As for the previous reviewers, I'm not sure if we saw the saw motel as it's quite possible that they remodeled it since you guys have went. I thought it was a great deal and I was really satisfied with the place.

it's about atmosphere and style. You get the fabulous neon sign and the shield and spears motif repeated in the management office and in the iron work on the walls. Great interiors. This is a fairly dingy part of town but pretty close to Bob Hope Airport in Burbank. We were visiting relatives who live in the Hollywood Hills and they absolutely loved this place. They can afford just about anything in LA but this joint stands out.

My daughter was visiting from New York this past week so I decided to drive up from San Diego to spend some time with her. She had done some research for affordable hotels in the Burbank area and discovered that The Safari Inn had some considerable renovation work done in the past few years. She was impressed enough by what she read to suggest to me we stay there.
The first problem was with the air conditioning system. When it was running, it smelled like a gymnasium restroom. My daughter complained to the front desk, they sent maintenance down to the room to thoroughly spray with Lysol which only masked the problem. So we remedied the situation by not running the system.
The room was old and didn't have any look of being remodeled. We did sleep well and fortunately we were only in the room to sleep and shower. I wouldn't recommend this establishment to anyone unless they were hard pressed for money.

On my recent trip to the lure of TV Land, staying at the Safari Inn was certainly a treat.  Great place for a nights stay that you can actually get some rest.  Wonderful for just about anyone to take advantage wanting to go for some nearby eats and then of course don't miss getting a Vodka Martini at the neighboring sister motel "The Annabel" .  People who gave this place a bad review were simply wrong.  I've stayed at equivalent 4 Season hotels before, and to tell you the truth.. you can't take either of them home with you.   If you can get a great room on-line stay rate, go for it.  Safe, quiet, allows pets, and zero hassle with parking/traffic.

Woah, what happened here people?  So many reviews of how crappy this place is.  But when I was there just recently in the end of November it was fairly nice.  The room I stayed in looked recently remodeled.  The bathroom and everything about it looked clean.  I smell no traces of cigarette smoke so I can't say it was dingy or gross.

I came here to stay overnight for a business trip and it seemed perfectly fine.  Of course I lock my door and take the proper precautions when staying at any hotel whether it's swanky or gnarly.

The front desk called me a shuttle back to the airport the next morning of my stay.  They even offered me a free continental breakfast...sure it wasn't fantastic, but it wasn't as though they served up fresh vomit either.  The people at the counter were very nice and helpful.  They greeted me with a smile and didn't look at all beaten up by management.

I actually liked this place...I wouldn't be hesitant to come back in the future.

Clean, friendly, safe, comfy bed and 60's vintage architecture (the rooms open to the parking lot, not a hallway). Hotels in Burbank aren't cheap, but this was a few bucks less ($125) than a Holiday Inn Express, which has no soul.

I needed a place near a network studio, and this fit the bill perfectly. It isn't fancy, but it doesn't pretend to be; it's a reasonably affordable place to stay, and it's a good value for the money - compared to other hotels nearby.

I'll stay there next time I'm in LA and need a room in Burbank.

The restaurant at the hotel next door is uninspired - like Denny's. You can do better elsewhere.

Okay so you may be wondering what a sweet and innocent girl like Stephy S. is doing reviewing such a seedy little hotel in the middle of the flatlands of the 818. Well there was time when I wasn't so innocent and I may or may not have visited this hotel (as a joke of course).

So what can I tell you about it without getting those underage midgets in trouble. Um, the rooms are rooms, they have beds in them and the choice of decor here is enough to cause a migraine. Way too many prints for my taste, but when you are visiting a hotel in Burbank at 1 in the afternoon are you reaaaallly looking for nice drapes? Me thinks not.

So who should stay here? If you are traveling with kids, I can't see it. If you are in town for some hot happenin fun, you'll need to keep going down olive til it turns into barham then take that over the hill into Hollywood because Burbank isn't exactly known for the night life babay.

I'll just cut to the chase here, this is a great hotel for a nooner. There are tons of studios in the area and I wouldn't surprised if people have been promoted via this hotel (If you know what I mean). So if that's what you are looking for as a joke or for serious, then have at it. Otherwise, I'd stay at another hotel...ya know...hypothetically speaking of course.

PS: As a fun fact this is the hotel from True Romance where Patricia Arquette eventually beats the crapola out of Tony Soprano's James G.
