5 reviews for Saddleback Inn
We just stayed here in Feb 09
I would have given this place 5 stars but it was a little steep. We did get a "jacuzzi" room (which is like a giant bathtub with jets) by itself for $129.99 on same day. It did seem a little out dated but had "mountain charm" I guess you would call it.
We stayed here because the snow got really bad and didn't want to go down the mountain.
The lady at the front desk was very nice and helpful. The bar and dinning area was closed, I believe for renovations.
There is a 7-11 in the parking lot so that was convenient to get some snacks and stuff.
I really did enjoy my stay here though, it was pleasant and memorable. Though I think it was a bit pricey. The only reason we got to pay $129 was because we told her we lived very close to Arrowhead so it wouldn't be THAT big of a deal for us to just go home. Originally she had wanted us to pay $180 (but I think it was for a better room though).
I'll post some pics since I don't see any here.
Charming hotel just a block from Lake Arrowhead Village and the lake. I stayed in one of the adjacent cabins, big enough for a large family. Very comfortable, homey decor with push button gas fireplace and jacuzzi tub. Very clean (I don't do dust) and looks like it was recently remodeled.
Had contact with front desk personnel only and they were very helpful. Had flyers about town activities and some helpful information about the night life. I was there in the summer so I got to attend a free concert at the Village.
There's a great restaurant in the main lodge with delicious - and inventive - menu options. Too much for one, though. Ask to split the plate if you're a light eater.
For the money, the Saddleback Inn is a great stay.
$100 Cabin with Jacuzzi bath tub, cool restaurant/bar with great food, awesome scenery---another funky place around the corner was asking $160 for rooms that night...hit up Saddleback first for rates before you go anywhere else, its worth it.

For a charming, rustic experience, the Saddleback Inn is a lovely experience. There is significant history in this establishment, including famous movie stars who frequented the place, as well as a "friendly" ghost which is drawn in on their map!
I went in not expecting a resort experience, but the charm and humor of the place really won me over. I stayed in the private cottages, and they were set amidst cobblestone roads and beautiful dogwood and birch trees - it was really reminiscent of Holland. Granted, the rooms were a bit dated, yet the place was impeccably clean and the bathroom itself was updated, along with a double-person jacuzzi (which I did not use because I am a public location germaphobe, but it looked really relaxing).
The location was great, just a 2 minute walk across the street to the Arrowhead Village. Or, you could follow the whimsical signs at the Saddleback Inn, which point to Glasgow, New York, or London... :)
My only warning is that you should NOT stay Sunday night, as Monday morning means trash pick-up day, and I swear the huge trash trucks were picking up the commercial bins for hoooourrsss.
I took a mid-week trip, and got really amazingly low rates, plus an extra $20 in cash handed to me at check-in for gas! Make sure you ask for the "internet special," which can take off 20% from the room rates.

What a rip off. Small rooms if you stay in the main building. Called the same day and got a $150 rate.
Upon check in found our room was on the third floor, (all stairs with no elevator).
A sign at check indicated the bar closes at 9 pm out of respect for hotel guests, but that doesnt stop barflys and bargirls for smoking, cussing and joking out in the parking lot until after midnight. Who's running the front desk? They say they operate the front desk all hours, but if they cant control the noise outside their front door, how can they offer an enjoyable stay to first time visitors.
Dont stay here!!!
